Tell us about your tagging system! What's the organization behind it, are there tags you follow up on etc

Oh, tagging system...I don't think I've ever answered a question about this before.

Honestly, there's not like a whole organization behind it...I honestly learned how to tag shit after being on tumblr for long periods of time.

Like, with my liveblogs, I saw how other people tagged their liveblogs so I decided to try it too and stuck with my usual system of "nickname watches genre of drama/movie (cdrama/kdrama/jdrama/cmovie/kmovie/jmovie" "name of drama" and then "genre of drama". When I liveblog, I usually just put my thoughts into the post, I don't really put them into the tags.

Now with my rewatches (and honestly, it's only just the one right now) I do my normal tagging system and then I add "name of drama rewatch" afterwards. If there are characters I'm specifically talking about in the post, I will make sure to put the character's name after "name of drama rewatch" and then add my own thoughts afterwards because I'm not taking away from what's going on in the scene, especially if it's like screenshots.

Same with fics! I watched how other people tagged their fics and then just followed suit. So at first it was "the-sassiest-trixster writes" (back when i had my old username) but then when all of my tags got wiped the first time, I decided to rebrand and just go with "sass writes". Short and simple. I also tag the post with the name of the fandom that I'm writing for and then whatever the fic is, like "mafia au" or "assassin au" or "case fic" etc. I will also include the characters and their ship name, just so that it's easy to find (hopefully but this is tumblr).

As for headcanons and asks, I'll tag it with "sass answers" and then "nickname of person who sent the ask + specific emoji" afterwards. For headcanons, I will then go on to tag the fandom the headcanon is for, the characters that are in the headcanon, the ship name, and sometimes i'll specify what kind of headcanon it is, like "5+1" or whatever au was requested.

My asks used to be "sass answers" and then "nickname of person who sent the ask edition" but when all of the tags got deleted again, I decided to revamp and do the "nickname of person who sent the ask + specific emoji" because I think it's cute.

If I'm talking about my writing i'll specifically use the tag "sass talks about her writing", if i'm ranting i'll use "sass rants", if i'm just rambling/talking i'll use "sass talks", and if I'm talking about /answering questions about forensics, I'll use "sass talks about forensics".

As for tags I follow...not really. I say you can tag me using "killerandhealerqueen" but I'm really bad about checking that tag to be quite honest. But honestly, just @ me, it's just faster and I enjoy getting notifications than remembering to check a tag. I do follow the tags like "killer and healer", "mao zi jun", "ian yi", "chen yuzhi", "jiang yuelou", "yaoyutong", and "恨君不似江楼月" but that's about it.

If I didn't answer something, just let me know! I love talking/answering asks!

9. last movie I watched: i think it was the black widow movie

10. free space: i have nothing to say. i’m too invested in trying to craft canon divergence fanfics right now.

11. last show: i just finished binging mouse after picking it back up again last week. it was so good. 

12. when I created this blog: uhh it must have been fall 2017. almost four years of being on here already rip.

13. what I post: whatever suits my interest. mostly it’s me rambling about dramas and tagging excessively. i also like words and quotes and aesthetics.

14. last thing I googled: gavin james because i wanted to know what genre he sings. my phone search history is another thing altogether because i’ve just been doing fanfic adjacent research that spirals off into lots of clicking.

Hey Sam! I know this seems really stupid, but like, one of my newer fics aren't doing as well as I would like it to. Like, it has less than 100 hits, only 2 kudos, and it already has 4 chapters. And I know I shouldn't be worrying about the numbers, but like, by now, most of my other fics would be doing a lot better than this one. And I know I'm a good writer and I know I should just write for myself, but I would like a little validation for the hard work that I do. You know?

that's not stupid at all. if we were a bunch of robots that didn't care about validation or praise or love for our work then we wouldn't put our writing out there at all. the phrase "writing for yourself" works when you're in the dead of the night writing down a REALLY cool idea that you love, but once you put it out for people to read, the feeling inevitably changes. like of course we write for the love of writing but damn!! we're also human!! we need some validation every once in a while.

definitely don't feel like the lack of kudos/hits is from lack of good writing on your part, but also don't shame yourself when you feel disappointed that it's not getting the attention it deserves. you worked hard on it, so it's understandable that you feel it deserves some more recognition! hopefully there will be an uptick in kudos/hits soon - sometimes fics fit a small niche but are really beloved by certain readers. just as important ❤️

🐸👉 do you outline? …….uhmmmmm it depends! For longer multi-chapter fics like URSF, OHI, and Supplication, yes. For shorter fics, I will often start, write a few pages, and then bullet point out the direction I want to go in at that point?

🐸👉 ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice? I think it would be really fun to write a modern AU PingXie roommates fic!! I also have a few ideas in my doc I’m not sure I’ll ever actually get to (reporter!Wu Xie, for one). I also really want to write more imperial polycule but I’m not sure I will get around to it? 😭

🐸👉 best writing traits: hmm I think because I don’t necessarily have a set style, I’m willing to be very flexible in what I write — I write lots of different POVs, for example. Which has challenged me in new and productive ways as a “writer,” I think!

🐸👉 spicy tangential opinion: uhhhhh…… Oh!! I have absolutely no interest in writing smut that involves Liu Sang, no matter the pairing. Sequel to  Smiles Await You When You Rise. The Iron Triangle take that vacation they talked about

Xiaoge allows himself to be kidnapped to keep Wu Xie safe. Wu Xie and his posse burn shit to the ground to get him back

5 times Pangzi tattled on Wu Xie to Xiaoge and one time he didn’t need to

Pangzi teaches Liu Sang how to cook

Wu Xie gets kidnapped and Xiaoge isn’t around. Badass!Pangzi to the rescue

Wu Xie and Pangzi find a strange man washed up on the beach near their house. He turns out to have amnesia (yes, it’s Xiaoge)

Liu Sang sneaks into Wushanju in the middle of the night because he’s hurt and his own place isn’t safe

Pangzi’s pink Gandalf hoodie becomes Wu Xie’s comfort hoodie

Boyfriend Dungeon AU where Xiaoge can turn into a sword. 

A lot of these are just ideas I have a detailed outline for rather than anything I’ve actually started properly writing. The first two are the only ones that are actually done or almost done as they’re my Whumptober fics.

how has your day been?

Ah, better than yesterday, I think, so that's a step forward. I talked to my mum on her way to work in the morning (5am 😌) and then did some writing, made some gifs, and had a nap. Rang my siblings on video call after that, and we had takeaway for dinner and watched Kung Fu Panda with Dad. 🤗

what was the last thing that made you smile?

My dog and cat. It's cold so they're snuggled up. ☺️

what’s keeping you entertained these days?

Fighting Photoshop to make gifs for excessively sad quotes that won't let me be and listening to podcasts and Warhammer lore. 😅

if you are in some kind of quarantine/self isolation, is there anything you’d like to achieve in this time?

Not in any. Been insanely lucky with the pandemic here so far. Like, so incredibly lucky. (🤞)

Oh, I've been writing stories since I was like in kindergarten but as for fanfiction, I started reading on deviantart and was just a casual reader but I saw a fanart for Kakavege (Goku x Vegeta) from Dragonball and like I was just struck with an idea to write a fic for it. So...that's kinda how it started

Ooo...one of the fanfics I read recently that I really loved was Predators and Prey by GrumpyGreenWitch. It's a CSI: Miami fic but it's so good because it feels like you're watching an actual episode of CSI: Miami, like that's how good it is.

I literally did a whole paper for my first research paper on blood spatter. The title of my paper was "Application of Physics in Forensic Bloodstain Analysis and How Outside Factors Can Affect It". It was for my criminal profiling class

Yeah...all of my plots/dream themes for fics are fics that I would write...so I'd write it best. Just saying. I don't think others could pull off the kind of fics that I usually tend to write

My anxiety has been kinda a bitch lately...but I have to remind myself that I'm enough, that my fics are good and that people enjoy them...that I'm not just writing into the void and what not. Sometimes it feels like it, but I just have to remember that people are reading my fics and they're enjoying it

As the saying goes, Edward muses, the love he feels for his brother can’t be expressed by mere words. It is only now and then surpassed by the urge to murder him. 

Right now is such a moment, however, and it takes all his self-restraint not to do something mean - he hasn’t decided yet, either to his brother, or to the tiny grey kitten that perches on the bed between them, chewing happily on a piece of dried meat, blissfully ignorant of the turmoil it has caused.

“You can’t keep that here,” he tries, his brother just giving him an offended look

“But it’s raining,” he says with a pouty note in his voice. “And her name is Clara.”

“You can’t keep it..,” he receives a death glare and sighs, “her here. It’s not allowed to keep pets.”

“I know,” his idiot of a brother agrees happily, “that’s why we have to hide her.”

Hiding his face in his hands, Edward can only groan in defeat.

Actual worst part of writing: doing it. im a perfectionist asshole who goes back and forth the story, type and retype, and after all those shits, i dont post them cus i feel like it's not up to my expectation. or. i post it cus i just dont give a fck anymore and never reread it. i disown it.

How you choose your titles: google 'quotes about death'

Do you outline: no. i get a life experience -> i get pulled into a deeper conscious -> lightbulb on -> i sit on the toilet -> write. most of my fics come fr my own wild thought abt life or my life experience/interaction. i just channel myself into the character and leisurely enter their world.

Ideas I probably won’t get around to but wouldn’t it be nice: im not sure. yuezhi raw times. but im not good at writing smut so, self yeet.

Callouts @ me: seems like u enjoy pouring down ur emotion and wildest personality through ur fictional character. be raw. and fix ur english. improve them.

Best writing traits: im not sure. i rarely ask for opinions abt my fic. maybe... im not sure.

Spicy tangential opinion: yeah fanfic is fiction "im nOT HERE FOR THE DAMN REALITY" but u need some research too, jennifer. there must be a little jab of physics, math, chemistry, social sciences, law, and other disciplines in the bg to make a story sensible. get back to work.

1. why did you choose your url?

it’s related to my beloveds tang yi and meng shao fei from history3: trapped! but the url “tangfei” was taken so I just put “ty” in front of it--meaning “thank you” so the whole meaning is “thank you tangfei.” (I wasn’t very creative lol.)

2. any sideblogs? if you have them name them and why you have them.

this is the sideblog, lol.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

I was on and off. My very first blog was back in 2012 and then I left around 2015-2016 and then came back I think 2018? 2019? So maybe 6-7 years?

4. do you have a queue tag?

I don’t have a tag for queued posts but I’m always queueing. :) 

5. why did you start your blog in the first place?

this sideblog was for history 3: trapped and in general BL dramas first but then I fell straight in cdramaland and I haven’t left yet a;dklfjasd;lk

a couple that fights together stays together. also they just look so cool

it somehow ended up being this wangxian one even though I rarely only make wangxian gifsets lmao.

Hmmmm, I’m not quite sure what a shitpost is but I suspect I’ve done it at least once or twice.

I check in on tags a couple times a day.

Nope. No need for internet fights. I use the block function.

depends. if it’s just a superstitious “reblog or you’ll get bad karma” kind of posts, then I ignore it. but if it’s a post about resources for a current event or something similar, I sometimes reblog it.

16. do you like tag games?

it’s fine. I like being tagged so I can read what folks write, but I don’t participate very often unless I’ve been tagged by friends several times. 

17. do you like ask games?

it’s fine, lol. sometimes I do it if it’s a quick one but it’s a game that requires a lot of thinking, I don’t.

uhhh uuhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
