The Pitch

Is a movie I created that follows a life young woman's successful True Crime podcast through a computer screen. Through her career as a certified Spotify Podcast creator, she lies and manipulates events in order to keep her channel afloat. Fortunately for her, it works, and she gains a wider audience and a bigger revenue. But unfortunately for her future self, she discovers her lies become truths in an attempt to stay alive from the events she thought were fabricated but became reality.

The story is told Unfriended style, where we see her life through a computer camera. This story connects to my life through my love for true crime. While being a part of the community that listens to crime cases while doing homework, walking, and other everyday tasks, I've noticed the desensitized parts of the community where people lose empathy and compassion. This story is a commentary on putting yourself in the position of the victims, and how words have power.

My budget for the movie is $5000, I will be rationing it out between the setting, actors, script, advertisement, and camera. The setting will most likely take place on campus in order to save money for the props, students will take part in writing and acting and will be compensated for their participation. The camera will cost $0 due to it being used with a MacBook, and advertisement will a well-crafted trailer shown to the AUC.
