Observations about moon signs☁️🧚🏽🍓
Aires moon- can be very self-centered, they have no need to be depend on someone. They enjoy their company and also doing activities. Playing sports means a lot to them and they like to have a routine that they can enjoy. You don't like to stay in one place for long. They are positive and emotionally strong. They handle life's things well. In a relationship, they need a partner who will encourage and support them in the things they will do and allow them to have freedom. My opinion is that this moon is most susceptible to emotional freedom and freedom in a relationship.
Taurus moon- like cute things and like to spend time with people who are close to them. They need touch and it is also very important to them. They will quickly show this to the other person as well. They simply cannot be without physical touch. They love hugs, kisses on the cheeks and warm feeling. I would describe them as teddy bears. They also give very warm and nice hugs. Food is important to them (they like to eat good and quality food). They like to spend time in the cinema, at cozy couch, also they really like music. They like luxurious things and jewelry (also worn many times). They like to spoil their partner. They are very loyal and emotionally strong. They persist and won't just go away (their emotions are very strong and stable).
Gemini moon-like people who have a good mindset. Talking to a person is very important to them (there are also people who like communication and will communicate with you late at night). They think a lot about their feelings and analyze the other person's thoughts. They quickly find out how the other person works and in what way. They are people who can also give you very good advice and will know how to enter into a neutral role emotionally. However, they can often be moody and irritable at home and with relatives. You may not need to study something in depth to feel that you know enough about it.
Cancer moon-like people who are emotional. Emotional interaction means a lot to them and they put a lot on the other person's feelings. They have to feel emotionally safe, that they can trust someone. They are very intuitive and will immediately detect a person's vibrations (whether they are good or bad), they also detect spaces and energy in general. They sense that things will happen before they do. They are not so emotionally open and only open up to those they really trust and know that they can expose themselves emotionally (even though they don't like to do it). They are emotionally very strong and can handle a lot of emotions. They like hugs, kisses. They really like to spend the night with someone and this for them also represents some kind of bonding with another person. For them, sleeping with someone in the same bed is a very intimate thing. They like to have their own comfortable space in which to spend their time. It is very important for them to be able to be who they are in a relationship and to express their feelings freely. But they can also be stubborn and impulsive.
Leo moon- can be very dramatic and self-centered. They love spending time with their partner and spending time with them. They also need a lot of emotional attention, they want their partner to notice them and give them their time. They like to do crazy things with a person and thus bond with them in a way. Above all, they like children's things or things they did as children and share it with others. It means a lot to them if you do something with them that includes their hobbies.Emotions are often overwhelmed by the ego (which means that they can feel a lot but don't let themselves express it). Although when they really want something, they will leave their ego behind. I have a feeling that many times they can be lonely inside and they don't show it out loud. They can quickly begin doubt in themselves and whether they are good enough for someone.
Virgo moon-however, this moon can be very critical of itself and others. People with this moon often do not know how to express their emotions, at least not in the way that someone might want. They know how to take care of others and offer them support when they need it, but when they can get close to someone, they can have a problem, and they know how to show it. They are also paranoid and have great concern for the health of others and themselves. Cleanliness means a lot to them and they want to have a tidy and pleasant home. Men with this moon tend to do a lot of cleaning and also do women's chores. They can choose partners based on their routine.
Libra moon-are very social and need socialization. But they are also tied to the fact that they like relationships and can feel lonely when they are not in a relationship. Which means that they can choose a partner who may not suit them so much, but they will be with him because they don't want to be lonely. They like to have friends and hang out with them. Their emotions are rational and neutral. Otherwise, they can be very emotionally attached to their partner and the relationship can mean a lot to them (but they can sometimes have a problem staying in it if all the conditions are not met).
Scorpio moon- can be very secretive, emotionally closed or too intense. Deep feelings and someone with whom they can share all their secrets mean a lot to them. They are emotionally very devoted and sacrifice a lot for their partner, home, and family. They may have a special attachment to children and want to give them as much as possible. They are also an analytical person meaning they will always analyze the emotions of others. They like a home that is away from everyone and is more alone or on the private area. However, they can often feel that their emotions are too much or that people do not understand them and do not feel this depth as they do. They connect best with water moons because only they will understand their emotionally complex nature.
Sagittarius moon-are optimistic, funny and like to tell jokes. There are people who will always want to put you in a good mood and do their best to make you feel good. They connect emotionally with someone through experience, travel, adventure and wisdom. They like to have a philosophy of life and search for meaning. Their emotions show through optimism. Although they act independently, they are actually looking for someone who will make them feel at home. Someone who will fulfill them emotionally. They feel alienated in their own home and many times they move out of their country. They are looking for someone who will bring meaning to their lives (a sense of what to live for and show them the way). They are emotionally impulsive and can also be jealous. Sagittarius often have the feeling that they are alone or that they can be alone and go through something alone, but in reality they just need someone who will give them the feeling that there is a whole world for them. Someone who will make them feel that they are not alone. They hide a lot of their emotions with humor and people don't even notice. This moon does not have such a big ego.
Capricorn moon-are emotionally stable and focused on peace and a stable relationship. Many times their emotions can be well focused. Especially when it comes to learning, work, they have a great focus on it. Usually when they end a relationship or any situation makes them sad, they put their emotions to work and want to distance themselves as much as possible from what they really feel. Their emotions can often be cold, but they are very non-judgmental people, they will always accept the emotions of another person, but they rarely react to it. They always have to process their emotions within themselves before they can share them with others. They trust very few people and tend to be closed off when it comes to expressing emotions unless they feel they can express things.
Aquarius moon- are attached to their friends and friendships mean a lot to them emotionally. They don't like groups so much, they prefer to focus on one person because they quickly feel alienated or like they don't belong in that group. Especially in a family, they can feel aloof, unwanted and invisible. They are much more emotional than people would think. They like to have fun and make fools of themselves. They like people who make them feel like it's okay to be weird and different. They can quickly become emotionally isolated and often feel that way among people. For them, home represents something unique and their own. They are independent and are looking for a person who is similar to them. They may also tend to operate as an outsider or lone wolf, preferring to maintain a detached view that is only possible from the outskirts. They feel very different from the environment in which they grow up. The outsider experience is felt at a very early age.
Pisces moon-these are the people who will always bring you some snacks or be emotionally there for you. Always there to comfort you and help you. They are emotionally sensitive and pick up a lot of energy from others, so they are also quickly exhausted. They have a lot of empathy for others and want to understand and feel the people around them. They are also emotionally shy and change how they feel quickly. They express their feelings most easily through art. They are emotional and quickly take a lot to heart emotionally. They show their love in a very selfless way, but they can also be manipulative if they see that the person does not return the same feelings. They are also incredibly caring, and their loved ones know they can always rely on them for a sympathetic ear, a warm hug, and an encouraging pep talk when they're going through a tough time. They are naturally escapist and they might distract themselves by diving into movies, books, music, fanfiction, etc.

big write up on how my rhaegar is my own interpretation (and how behind i am on westerosi literature) coming soon to a dash near you.
#ooc. this week on kat valentine's hannibal.#[they’re just extremely personal to me and they make my heart warm and I’ve loved them since… god.#since the first time I read about them in got through dany’s words. I just went ‘I love them’ and never let go. I think I probably connect#heavily to the feeling like your life is based around sorrow and little more. and you’re struggling to find joy but sorrow is what you#-know-. so you can’t grasp a sense of joy or purpose in your true self. because you don’t have one. rhae? their true self is so fragmented#by prophecies and by shortcomings and failures and all the deaths put right on -their birth-.#they put all that on themselves for a sense of ego or self importance they just… didn’t have.#basically: rhaegar has deluded themselves into a lot but they’re also very tenacious about some as genuine beliefs.#but it’s… a study in how a sense of inadequacy can bring about unhealthy habits and obsessions. and how those things can overtake you.#the lyanna relationship is complicated and one i have to define but I think I would prefer#if it was just open and any lyannas who would like to write with me? I’m down to follow your lead. this goes for anyone close to rhae#really. the thing about them is it’s been admitted 100000 times they’re an ideal and hardly a person (and we never knew them IN LIFE)#so my characterization of rhae definitely leans on that display as asoiaf put it forth in the varied opinions on rhae.#they’re a big mixup of me and asoiaf and quite frankly a study in what it is to be burdened by tragedy from moment one and how that affects#an upbringing. how expectations do. I love them. I give my heart for rhae.]

♈︎ 𝔄𝔯𝔦𝔢𝔰 𝔦𝔫 𝔱𝔥𝔢 𝔥𝔬𝔲𝔰𝔢𝔰 ♈︎
Tumblr media
✶ Aries in 1st: Being ruled by the planet Mars, these natives give a bold and invigorating first impression. What you see is what you get with Aries in the first- they have a raw and honest personality- which can be off putting for some people because it can be taken as rude depending on the person/situation- but I have to say you must admire them for being so tenacious and authentic in nature. I can hands down say the best quality about Aries in the first is what you see is what you get! They have a strong ego here, are not ashamed of their behaviors, body or personality - regardless of what others say to or about them. ✶ Aries in 2nd: Bold spenders, can be quick to have, give away and lose money. Fleeting self worth and values- can feel and act confident one hour and then shy and shameful the next. Values honesty, integrity and sense of self- this may be because they don’t have the greatest sense of self. Believes that kids and the younger generations have the most value in the world. Having children of their own could be of the greatest importance- OR (and this is a big or) they could never want kids and value connecting to their inner child and independence greatly. It’s one or the other. Can feel at war with their finances and self worth.
✶ Aries in 3rd: Athletic and popular in middle school/high school. Known for their leadership skills and qualities amongst their peers, classmates, cousins and siblings. Can be the youngest of their siblings or babied by others. Intellectually motivated, driven and competitive. Impulsive and passionate in their speech. May say things for shock value or improv their actual knowledge. Finds stimulation in an intellectual debate and arguing. It’s hard to win an argument with these people because they speak so quickly- their arguing style is just backing people into a corner mentally, they don’t give up easily. However, they can regret things that they say when they are angry or upset.
✶ Aries in 4th: Huge indicator of raising yourself as a kid. Family required you to be very active, you could be the most successful in your family as an adult because of this. Family is a point of weakness for you, mainly because they possess a lot of “childish” qualities. You may feel like your parents/guardians were big babies and never grew up. You could put a lot of energy towards your family, but could have a shorter fuse with them over all people. You may be the youngest out of your entire family. Your family could be competitive with you our vise versa. Your family could be the start of your “Villan Arc” 💀- your family may have childish values, argue a lot or they may be a “board game family”. TW - Worst case scenario- violence in the home.
✶ Aries in 5th: Play fights when flirting, aggressive flirters, acts like they hate their crush. I have this placement lmaooo and I LOVE to play fight with my man- like btch?! You wanna go!?!?!? It’s so much fun to me and usually leads to s*xies ayyye. But that’s definitely a me thing, I love to talk smack to my significant other- that’s how it’s always been. Being competitive, NO BORING DATES EVER! Known to have secs on the first date. Passionate- goooood lovers. Either wants to have kids right away or doesn’t want kids at all- this I huge independence thing that keeps them from not wanting to have kids. You can’t be the baby, if you have a baby! Commitment issues.
✶ Aries in 6th: Enjoys active routines and work place. Known to work in establishments with competitive pay and many enemies in work place. Can be scene as bossy by their coworkers. Needs to be weary of being hypocritical of their coworkers. Temper at work. Benefits from a workout routine. Needs to take out stress and anger from work & daily responsibilities. Can be very active or have hyper pets, may need a big back yard to run their dogs or other animals in. Competitive in health and motivated to be the best version’s of themselves. Picky with their diet and what they decide to put in their bodies. Can have an all or nothing attitude- because theirs definitely a reason why they are so picky. Usually this stems from poor self care habits and bad physical health. ✶ Aries in 7th: Passionate and assertive lovers, the fire they feel for their committed partners are unmatched. They may loose interest beyond physical lust- especially if they don’t take they time to figure out whether or not they ACTUALLY like someone. These individuals could truly find good in anyone so it’s important that they don’t project their desire for commitment onto someone else. They can date or be friends with some bold and persistent personalities- even bossy. It’s important that these natives find someone who will give them some wiggle room to find themselves. These people find out who they are through trial and error in their relationships - it’s typical for these natives to have “failed relationships” that lead them to find out what they definitely don’t like- which leads them to their ultimate truth.
✶ Aries in 8th: This gives the native a hyper-vigilant quality to the native with Aries in 8th. In the past the native may have been made to feel like they didn’t belong, maybe they were bullied, or judged for something they couldn’t control. This may lead them to be on edge, secretive and even defensive about who they are authentically. They are very protective about who they actually are because they have been hurt before- many of these people are Virgo Risings, so it’s interesting to see that this may be one of the reasons why they are so hard on themselves and receive a judgmental sort of reputation. ✶ Aries in 9th: I love this placement so much honestly, because a lot of these natives have the philosophy that they can go after anything that they want. They have a particularly strong sense of self and actually may have a hard time understanding why other people don’t go after what they want or believe in themselves and their dreams. This is a super hard working placement IMO - it gives very much that “I want it, I got it!” vibe! It’s very possible at a time in their life that no one believed in these individuals so they just had to prove themselves to the world, and that’s so beautiful.
✶ Aries in 10th: Go getters in their career- they do best when they are their own boss- they definitely don’t do well with being told what to do because of their sensitive nature. However, they have a lot of creativity and art to give to the world. They need a career that is authentic to who they- a simple 9-5 WILL NOT cut it for these people. So if you’re an Aries 10th and you’re still trying to make your boring, loveless day job work- this is why. It is not in your genetic code to be running someone else’s business 😂 you are the business starter- not finisher! Quit diminishing your own light because I know y’all are hard on yourselves regardless. Pick your hard and go after it!
✶ Aries in 11th: Leaders of the pack, these natives love bringing their friends together and being absolutely crazy with their friends. They are naturally socialites and feel their best when they are interacting in their community and collaborating with like minds. These people live for their down time, special niche hobbies and interests. They work hard to play hard. They may also have some pretty strong humanitarian values they stick by, these natives have no problem with telling people their opinion on any given situation and they really don’t care what you have to say about it 😆
✶ Aries in 12th: With Aries in the house of isolation, hidden endings, mental health, dreams and subconscious awareness- this can make a native who suppresses their anger deeply and keeps a lot of their authentic reactions to themselves. They may feel more comfortable expressing this rage internally or when they know nobody else is around. They may be completely out of touch with their anger and impulses. They could have to isolate before taking action towards their authentic desires or dreams. Dreams can be violent and they may have intense nightmares. These natives can work out their best alone- although they usually like to workout with someone, this keeps them from pushing themselves for fear of being ugly or vulnerable. They don’t like to show their struggle to others, complain or their authentic side.

𝓕𝓾𝓵𝓵 𝓜𝓸𝓸𝓷 𝓲𝓷 𝓢𝔀𝓪𝓽𝓲 - 𝓇𝑒𝓂𝑒𝓂𝒷𝑒𝓇𝒾𝓃𝑔 𝓎𝑜𝓊𝓇 𝓂𝒶𝑔𝒾𝒸
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
🤍 Tonight/today greets us with a beautiful, vibrant Full Moon in Swati. I want to shed a little light about one of the mythologies associated with Swati and how it pertains to natives & transits under this Lunar Mansion.
The Vedic story of Hanuman, the cosmic son of Vayu (God of the wind & lord of Swati) lends us a wealth of knowledge about Swati's nature & message. It goes like this (I've tried my best to put it into my own wording): When Hanuman was a young boy, he thought the Sun was a big fruit, so he jumped into the sky to try to eat it. The Sun god felt intimidated by young Hanuman coming towards him, and asked he asked Indra (King of the Gods) to bring the child back down to Earth with his weapon/powers. Indra struck Hanuman in his jaw with his weapon: Vajra, the thunderbolt. Impressed by the child’s bravery & resistance, the deities blessed Hanuman with various powers. Hanuman used his powers to play pranks upon others, and for this, the rishis (sages, seers) cursed him to forget his gifts and powers. The boy then apologized for his mistake, so the rishis told him that his powers would come back to him if someone reminded him of them. Later on, while Hanuman was on a quest searching for Sita, Lord Rama’s wife, he was reminded of his powers by Jambavan, the bear headed being. Of the curse and his past. Upon hearing this, Hanuman's confidence is reignited. He ended up playing out multiple roles: a messenger to Sita, a diplomat to Vibhishana, and a soldier against Ravan.
🤍 This story gave me so much context as to why Swati natives are the way they are: A lot of the Swati natives I've met in my life are brilliantly talented in some field, or even multitalented, but are often very (overly) humble and self-doubting or easily discouraged by others'.
🤍 Swati is known to be perhaps the most energetically receptive of all the Nakshatras (some consider it to be the 'most feminine', which it is very much so but I think Swati's energy is very ethereal so it kinda transcends traditional feminine/masculine archetypes). This energetic receptivity gives endless potential for just about anything that can be dreamed of- there is a vast potential for just about any skill, talent or reality to be manifested in Swati. However, as the mythology implies, Swati's infinite powers and potential can be limited by the natives 'forgetting' their abilities or others attempting to bring them down.
🦋 It is said that Swati natives, like in the story, need to be surrounded by people who remind them of their abilities, beauty & talents in order to thrive. This makes sense in the context of Swati being very Yin and passive- endless potential, but needs that external Yang in order to flourish. It needs somebody to be objective with them and tell them exactly what they're good at.
🌱This potential is seen with Swati's symbolism being a plant shoot/sapling standing strong against the wind: there is a talent, a gift in Swati natives that needs to be nurtured to grow. Not that Swati's natives should depend on others- part of Swati's path may be related to learning to do what it takes to nurture those abilities yourself; but even still having positive affirmation and strong, Solar energies around is very important for Swati.
🍃 The Sun is debilitated in Swati, meaning the ego is very fragile. This can of course go many different ways- it can manifest as somebody who is very overly humble, self sacrificial, weak boundaries, lets emotions and empathy govern their life, 'too nice', lacking a healthy ego, struggles with criticism. Sometimes I see Swati manifested poorly as someone who feels down on themselves, so then deflects and rip down others, but typically there is another placement involved to cause this behaviour.
🌬 Not that Swati can't have a dark side, it certainly can and does as all Nakshatras do (Swati's other symbol is a sword & is butcher caste- it can be ruthless in achieving their goals, like Hanuman reaching up to the Sun)- but still remember that Swati resides in the middle of Sidereal Libra. Libra is balance, peace, the middle ground. Swati is the very middle of the middle lol. It is the ultimate 'go with the flow' 'neither here nor there' embodiment. Much like the wind.
🌌 This is partially why Tropical Scorpios are known to have the mesmerising stare & amazing ability to read people & situations: Swati acts as almost like this cosmic vacuum for knowledge, able to absorb it all but often too 'off with the fairies' and in their own world to verbalize it or always remember it. The natives can be misunderstood as ditzy and 'airheaded'.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🖤The 'dark side' of Swati would probably be staying quiet, not taking a stand 'for' or 'against' anything & letting life pass you by, or being bystanders in witnessing bad things due to the extreme energetic neutrality/passivity. Perhaps even snapping from the burden of always being doubted and passive. This neutrality can also be a gateway to fostering profound wisdom- access to the intuitive stream of knowledge available to us all is blocked by judgement & absolutes.
🎨 This leads me to Swati's association with the Goddess Saraswati; the Goddess of knowledge, wisdom, art, music & learning. The extreme potential to accumulate knowledge in Swati is a wonder, but it's almost as if sometimes the only way for Swati to verbalize & relay the knowledge to the world, is through art & music. A lot of spiritual truths are just too profound to put into plain words and even if you manage to, there's the risk of being misunderstood- through artistic creation, this wisdom can be more easily FELT.
🥀 I think that the theme of 'forgetting your powers' in Swati, reminds me of how when we come to this Earth and are born (Bharani, opposite to Swati represents birth), we for the most part forget our potential. We forget our divinity, we forget spiritual information such as our past lives.
🌸 It is said that on the way to success, Swati natives will often encounter a person or situation where people will try to bring them down/block their path at all costs, like Indra striking down the boy who reached for the Sun.
🌹One last thing- I recently watched the movie 'Pearl' which was a weird thing for me because I veer away from watching horrific movies, but the actress (Mia Goth) is Swati ascendant. Butcher caste. Symbolised by the sword/blade. Well, let's just say that the character lives up to this association lol- but I was thinking and I realised that the overall story and what lead the girl to this point is very Swati. Not that being a murderer is typical of Swati natives lol, but the plot:
🍒🌬 Pearl grows up on a farm, isolated from the world and held back from her freedom and enjoyment of her youth by her responsibilities taking care of her ill & immobilised father; and living with her abusive yet well meaning mother (not that abuse is ever okay but in the context of it being a very scary time for society amidst the Spanish flu and the father being crippled, I think the mum was very scared to death of more tragedy occuring). She dreams of being a star on the silver screens, a dancer (Swati being very ambitious & typically talented) but feels, once again, held back by the weight of the responsibility and burden of her dark home life. Eventually, she cracks and ends up killing anyone who she perceives to have doubted her or blocked her path (including her parents). Anyway, very Swati themes. Also very Rahu, Rahu nakshatras can have themes of being very sweet, polite and conforming- but eventually emotionally cracking, and all of the built up anger, rage and frustration from being mistreated or walked all over in their passive state comes out.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌷🌸 Also, I just randomly thought of Barbie and the Three Musketeers lol- Barbie is often considered to be a Swati character (the femininity association, Rahuvian illusion, the way she can play all these characters and enter all of these different fantasy worlds). In Barbie and the Three Musketeers, we see Corinne (interestingly, again a girl who lives fair away from the city, somewhat isolated on a farm with her mother. Both movies play into the trope of the sweet, naive yet underestimated farm girl) who dreams of becoming a musketeer like her father was, in a time where girls could never be considered for this noble position. She confidently made her way on horseback all the way to Paris. When she told people of her dreams and ambitions of becoming a musketeer, everyone laughed in her face seeing as she was a girl. Even though she was extremely skilled and had been practicing for years. In the story, she discovers of this bad dude's plans to kill the prince to steal his inheritance to the throne, and her and her friends plan to take action.
Once the bad dude catches on that they know what he's up to and are trying to stop him, he of course tries to destroy them (there is a scene of a classic sword fight on the roof of the castle, Swati being associated with high places as well).
After demonstrating their immense bravery and skill, the girls all become musketeers and are apologised to for being underestimated (if I remember correctly).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's really interesting because both of these movies include a scene early in the movie where the main character performs in a barn to the animals lol- Corinne practicing her musketeer skills, and Pearl practicing her dancing (and uh... killing a goose?).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌫These movies also highlight Swati's themes of being underestimated, seen as very sweet and passive or naively sheltered, harmless girls but shocking the world with what they're capable of. 'Doing it in a dress' or doing it in lipstick & heels' vibes. Obviously, the two movies & characters go in entirely different directions though, lol.
🌸 In a way, society at large underestimates Barbie in general- deeming her airheaded or vapid & shallow just because of her associations with beauty & femininity, when most of the Barbie movies and stories actually depict Barbie as an immensely brave, courageous character who's positivity, kindness, strength and determination transcends evil every time.
Anyway, this ended up being much longer than intended lol, but I hope this was enjoyed by someone and sheds some light on the power of Swati Nakshatra this Full Moon <3🤍🌚

Then seizing the shaving glass, he went on: "And this is the wretched thing that has done the mischief. It is a foul bauble of man's vanity. Away with it!" and opening the heavy window with one wrench of his terrible hand, he flung out the glass, which was shattered into a thousand pieces on the stones of the courtyard far below. Then he withdrew without a word. It is very annoying, for I do not see how I am to shave, unless in my watch-case or the bottom of the shaving-pot, which is fortunately of metal.
.
He has a curious habit of looking one straight in the face, as if trying to read one's thoughts. He tries this on very much with me, but I flatter myself he has got a tough nut to crack. I know that from my glass. Do you ever try to read your own face? I do, and I can tell you it is not a bad study, and gives you more trouble than you can well fancy if you have never tried it. He says that I afford him a curious psychological study, and I humbly think I do.
Several of us pointed out last year how the timing of Dracula Daily juxtaposes these two lines/scenes, with Jonathan's mirror being taken from him just before Lucy talks about looking into hers. I'm going to try not to retread the same point too much, but instead I'd like to note the contrast between the way Lucy and Dracula speak of mirrors.
Dracula calls mirrors an agent of man's vanity. Essentially, he's dismissing them as promoting excessive ego. Looking in the mirror too often leads one to think too highly of themselves. And the image of a beautiful young woman spending time staring at herself in her mirror plays right into stereotypes about exactly that. It suggests self-absorption, obsession with beauty over substance, etc.
But that's clearly not what Lucy is doing. She links her mirror to self-knowledge, not self-praise, and in fact specifically points out the difficulties involved. She is flattering herself a little here as she says, but only in the context of realizing it can be hard to figure her out from appearances alone. Her doctor friend says she's a curious study, and despite looking her straight in the face cannot figure her out. Even she has trouble telling from her mirror. This could hint at her deliberately putting on a false front, or perhaps at feelings of uncertainty about her own identity, or difficulty expressing herself in the ways she wants. Regardless, her time spent looking into mirrors isn't vain, it's inquisitive.
And while that doesn't match up to what Dracula says about mirrors, it fits very well with the reality of what mirrors mean to him. He has no mirrors in his castle. Not because he's humble; he's obviously got a very inflated sense of his own importance and superiority. But he doesn't keep mirrors because they reflect what he is by failing to reflect him at all. It's a curious mix of being unable to see or know himself by looking at his own reflection... but also being known/revealed in a way that cuts past any examination of his actual face. Jonathan looks very closely at Dracula when he meets him, but despite spotting various unusual features* he doesn't realize his monstrous nature. But when he sees him in the mirror - or rather, nothing where he should be - he finds his first real proof that Dracula is inhuman. And that's why Dracula gets rid of Jonathan's mirror; he hates being known, unlike Lucy who enjoys the struggle of trying to figure herself out.
Mirrors as a window to knowledge also connects back to Jonathan. With his mirror stolen and destroyed, his ability to assess himself is hampered accordingly. Perhaps it would be a difficult study regardless (as Lucy says) but no mirror makes that even harder. He will have to rely on sub-par reflections in tools not made for that purpose. Not just to shave, but to be able to see himself. This coming when he realizes there are no other people around cuts him off even from seeing himself from the outside, so he can't see a human face... only Dracula's face. But also, Dracula is outright trying to deny him knowledge, and Jonathan is in a position where he's having to try and maintain his faith in his own sanity. The inability to look at his own face and examine his appearance might make that harder... although it also cuts him off from comparing his current appearance to how he used to look, and I suspect the lack of that comparison might be better than the alternative at times.
* This also ties in physiognomy. An inherently racist "science", of course, but one that was popular at the time this book was written, and engaged in by a couple characters. I don't think Jonathan outright says he's examining Dracula's features for that purpose, but I believe readers could be expected to take that description and use it to 'figure out' aspects of his personality. It's possible that Lucy is hinting at using a similar process on herself here, but if so then she seems not wholly satisfied with the results. She isn't saying that studying her face reveals her true character - closer to the opposite, if anything.

An analysis of WKTD and HWBM in relation to psychology, Christianity, and oppression.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spoilers for almost all of We Know The Devil and parts of Heaven Will Be Mine (only stuff from when you play as Saturn tho that’s the only character I’ve played as so far)
This post is very much off the cuff so it is quite messy but I really needed to put my thoughts into words, I guess. Hopefully it makes sense, and sorry if there’s any errors!
vvv Analysis under the cut because this post is LONG vvv
Okay because when WKTD said “the devil is the shadow of man cast from the light of god” and when HWBM said that the Existential Threat was just a byproduct of the shadow of humanity cast from gravity (via humanity’s Culture) its like the enemy that humans want to fight is just themselves. The concept of the “shadow self” (also called the id, but I’ll be using shadow instead) in psychology refers to the parts of oneself that does not fully fit in with what society expects of them (Super-ego) and sometimes separately from the true self (Ego), typically leading to rejection of those aspects and self-conflict.
Now, please note that I haven’t 100%’d HWBM but I have 100%’d WKTD, and in that game the true ending results in the main trio all becoming devils and embracing those sides of themselves they’ve been running from for the entire game. The thing I quoted earlier is an actual line from the game said by god, the line following it being “the meaning of this phrase is that there is no devil.” Only through self-acceptance and helping each other alongside ourselves do we really reach the true ending to these stores.
While WKTD leans more towards individuals, HWBM puts more emphasis on the idea of the collective shadow; the story still focuses on individuals, yes, but is very much about the conflict between a humanity that is tearing itself apart over the things that don’t fit the collective image. The main conflicts of the story focuses a lot on that general unrest, and was initially the Existential Threat, but after that dissipated humanity still saw its own shadow, this time in itself. An email you can find in the game even says that “In abandoning Existential Threats to address the threats of our home, it will inevitably result in us turning to conflict between humans one more. And in turn, the Existential Threat will thrive.” The Existential Threat literally feeds on unrest and trauma, manifesting as paranoia and leading humanity to fight it, only for them to find that they were just fighting their own literal shadow.
It’s also important to note that HWBM briefly mentions that the Existential Threat is tangentially related to “their cousins on Earth, and even those are so weak kids with radios can take them out”. This, while it can easily be seen as a nod to WKTD for those who played it, the fact that the reference is super blatant (along with the mention of the Scout programs, likely referring to groups like the Summer Scouts from WKTD) leads me to believe that these two stories exist in roughly the same universe (or at least their worlds do, maybe not the characters present in the stories themselves existing at the same time*). This is for a very specific reason, and it has to do with the themes both of these games are tackling, regarding acceptance of the self, both on an individual and societal level, symbolized by the apple.
Both games reference the apple when talking about the idea of becoming something new, sometimes even beyond humanity. It’s about the embracing of the shadow and all the parts of yourself, seeing yourself as a whole being and accepting all of it. The joy and contentment brought upon yourself by finally letting go of all that repression and division, even if the world around you is going to perceive those parts as scary or ugly. Bad endings in these games are brought about by rejection of the self, which makes sense considering all the themes around queerness and transcending one’s humanity, so obviously and fittingly the true endings focus on healing oneself by accepting all of their aspects as part of the greater whole.
The apple in these stories, especially noticeable in its original thematic incarnation in WKTD, is in reference to the fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden of Eden from the Bible. Man was forbidden from eating the fruit, but Eve (VERY important to note that the dev studio is named Worst Girls Games btw) is tempted by the serpent (was not originally the devil, but came to be in the New Testament) to eat the fruit, which they do and become aware of themselves. God banishes them from the garden for breaking this rule he set out for them, also punishing the snake in the process due to how it tempted Adam and Eve. This incident is referred to as the “original sin.”
What is interesting about this part of the Bible though is what God says at the end of Genesis 3, right before the banishment actually occurs: “And the Lord God said, ‘The man has now become like one of us, knowing good and evil. He must not be allowed to reach out his hand and take also from the tree of life and eat, and live forever.’” The specific wording of “become like one of us” in the context of the apple metaphors from the games from Worst Girls Games is super intriguing to me, mostly due to how the idea of becoming something new is super common throughout these stories—becoming the devil in WKTD, and becoming one’s Ship-Self in HWBM.
There’s also the framing of the serpent in these stories, as well. The serpent in modern Christianity is almost always depicted as the devil, tempting humanity away from God throughout almost the entire scripture. In the book of Revelation, the devil is said to have gone to direct war against God and fighting against his angels; “Then war broke out in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fight back. But he was not strong enough, and they lost their place in heaven. The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” These verses can easily be seen in parallel to WKTD, with how the devil forms are said to be unstable and her world more fickle than god’s, and how in HWBM the Ship-Selves are delicately maintained by the Lunar Gravity Well.
But here’s the thing: the framing of the devil in these stories puts it in the position of being correct, with humanity making the right choice to follow it. This may sound strange, almost like villain behavior, until you remember these games deal with themes regarding repression of the self under an oppressive society, which is why these societies tend to be characterized by Evangelical conservative Christianity. Under this lens, alongside the themes of queerness and transcending humanity (rising to the throne of god, in a way), everything begins to click into place. The idea of being forced to live a certain way by a society that hates parts of your very being is killing our main characters, and they want a way out. The personification of the Collective Unconscious (ex: the devil) gives them this out—even if it’s less concrete and stable than the known world (the light), the unknown world (the darkness) is what truly gives our characters the freedom they desire.
They cannot do this alone, however, as we see in the Bible further into the book of Revelation, when the devil is aided by a beast from the sea and a beast from the earth, all three of them holding one another up and emphasizing one another’s’ powers and authorities. This, of course, most likely is reflected in the games in the main trios we play as. While I am still unsure about specifics, I trust you guys enough to understand what I’m getting at here, even if my speculations are likely flimsy at best. Either way, the idea gets across—the true endings for the games can only be obtained if everyone supports one another properly.
The scripture states that the devil does not have long on earth to do what he wishes (“… [The devil] is filled with fury, because he knows that his time is short.”), but that doesn’t stop him from trying at all. When it comes to the games, in WKTD the main trio stay in the cabin only for the night (player choices start at 7pm and the final one is at 1am, 2am onward being the ending you got, so choices go on for 6-7 in-universe hours), and in HWBM they have eight days to get back to earth before humanity declares them to be a threat. In both stories, our protagonists are all under strict time limits to do what they can in order to get the outcome they desire. As it’s said in WKTD, “the devil only ever gets one chance.”
Even though in the Bible the devil is ultimately defeated, in these games it’s the opposite. This is less about the theology they draw from and more having to do with undoing oppressive power structures through solidarity and community support while doing what you can to avoid infighting. Systems of hate and oppression are easily undone, which is why they put in so much work to scare you away from even trying to undo it and make you fall in line; resistance scares oppressors. Of course, resisting is not an easy task, but that’s just part of the work—they don’t call it a fight for no reason, after all.
Accepting all aspects of yourself and embracing that is the first small, yet very important step, to rejecting oppressive systems as a whole, and when society as a whole accepts what the system rejects, that system will inevitably fall, freeing those who are under it. Even though the world that comes after may be more uncertain and unstable that the last one, we still have each other to rely on and a foundation to build something greater and healthier than before.
Tumblr media
So, roughly and basically…
Super-ego = God = Culture
Ego = Humanity (consistent throughout both games)
Projection = Light = Gravity
Resistance = Radio = Ship-Self
Shadow (personified by Collective Unconscious) = The Devil = Existential Threat
Acceptance (of the Shadow) = Apple (consistent throughout both games), characterized by devil possession forms and Ship-Selves (Ship-Selves are dual natured like that, I think)
… Or something like that. I dunno, I’m not a psychologist.
Once again, I have seen all of WKTD, so I can say these things concretely about that story. However, I have not seen all of HWBM, so it more so feels like I’m making guesses as to what happens in that one, so just bear with me. I’ll be super hype if I’m correct in my theory/analysis.
*On this note, it is very amusing to me to imagine the WKTD trio as space mech pilots. The idea of the main cast of HWBM having to deal with devil possessions is also very fun :3

(I don’t have a screenshot of the line that comes afterwards or the line talking about the metaphorical apple in the epilogue of the true ending but I know they’re there. I have it in my brain. I’m too lazy to get a picture of it just trust me I know what I’m talking about trust)

🌞 sun in 7th house placements and low self esteem 🌞
self esteem = how we value and perceive ourselves. It's based on our opinions and beliefs about ourselves
why is self esteem important = it impacts our
academic achievement; happiness; satisfaction in marriage and relationships; psychologists call it a personality trait
It is easy to spot a 1st houser in a room, they are out there being the host, pulling attention to themselves, they act like insecurities don't even exist, they are all about their persona the mask they show in the world and identify with it
and it is just as easy to spot a sun in 7th houser in a room, they are out there being a doormat, overly agreeable on everything, hesitant to voice their opinion and feeling powerless, they act like they have all the insecurities in the world
this is especially the case if a 7th houser has an empty 1st house because the native does not know who they are, how to be assertive, how to put themselves out there. sun is your ego, identity, where you shine, how you identify yourself, how you see yourself with respect to others, it is your energy, vitality, productivity, confidence, competence; consider yourself like a plant and sun is what gives you life; we feel so down and sleepy in winters because sun lacks presence
7th house is the house of other people. 7th houser or not, everyone perceives the world because of their projections. it is impossible to exist without projecting. just like it is impossible to see without reflection of light from an object, image formation in eye and your ability to recognize the object because of your familiarity, it is similarly impossible to live in the world without projecting archetypes and your shadow content on others, your ability to recognize what you are projecting and your familiarity with it. for eg, in this diagram you can recognize the tree because you are familiar with this object and concept. but if you were to see an object that you have not seen before and not familiar with, you will not recognize it. this is how we identify ourselves, by psychic projection. for eg. "this person has a quality of being funny"... "feels familiar because i also have this quality" or "this person is a liar?... i could not recognize it because i usually dont lie"
what we see in others is the reflection of ourselves, both good and bad, and that is how we form opinions about ourselves
Tumblr media
Donald Winnicott, a psychoanalyst, said that"true self" is sense of self based on spontaneous authentic experience and a feeling of being alive, having a real self with little to no contradiction. While he called "false self" a sense of self created as a defensive façade which in extreme cases can leave an individual lacking spontaneity and feeling dead and empty behind an inconsistent and incompetent appearance of being real, such as in narcissism. sun in 7th house are prone to being narcissists because their self image is not visible to them, they don't feel respected enough, they don't feel like they are seen and valued by others
sun in 7th house are prone to living with a false self because their identity is weak, ego is weak here in the 7th house, ego is repressed, identity is hidden. this can happen because of a number of factors like their parent being more attention seeking and so they were cornered, they had to comply to the wishes and expectations of their parents, being neglected or a combination of other placements in the natal chart that can indicate trauma and abuse. when the native's ego is not fully developed, they are living with a false sense of identity, that is, they might think "this is me" but it is not really them because this false self is just a hand crafted image to please people and that is why it changes in different environments with different people
let's understand with an example:
Tumblr media
you see how the sun is behind native's back? he can't see his own sun but he can see the sun in others. since his sun is not visible to him, he feels like it does not exist, that he is not competent, confident, valuable. in another way, the sunlight from behind is directed at others and he can see all the good and positive qualities in other people but he cannot see them in himself. in another way, his ego is in his shadow and unconscious to him, it is not fully developed and also impossible because how can he change his natal chart? so in that case, the native gets into relationship with someone who has a confident, assertive, strong willed, bright personality and really values their partner because they derive their energy, power, confidence, identity from their partner
this is why these natives are prone to losing themselves in their partner and engulfing their personality and identity, also always being in relationship because their batteries are low otherwise when they are by themselves
time for funniness:
Tumblr media
so, i have no advice for these natives other than figuring out who they are, withdrawing their projection, accepting what they cannot change about their life story and learning to live with their sun in 7H
when the native has matured though, they can then begin to explore a larger Self, their inner personality, their shadow, self reflection
note: this same experience can be felt by sun in sign of libra, sun in 7th house from natal moon as well

Hi!!!. After reading the Azula comic, I've noticed that many people say it confirms her narcissism "in a clinical sense" or something like that. What do you think about this? Is there anything in the comic that supports this?
"Narcissism" and any variation thereof is one of those clinical words that I personally would like to take away from the internet and put on a shelf until we can learn how to play with it appropriately. So I'm going to take a longer amount of time than I need to to explain some things about narcissism because the internet just consistently gets this wrong.
Something I'd like to make very clear upfront- everyone has narcissistic tendencies some of the time. Arguably, there is a normative amount of narcissistic traits that you should exhibit, actually, and it may be related to what we usually call self-esteem. We all have self-oriented goals, wants, and needs. We all occasionally feel the sting of wounded pride (some psychologists would call that a 'narcissistic injury/wound'), we all sometimes fail to empathize, get defensive when we feel attacked, or act self-absorbed.
We might also talk about "narcissistic defenses" when talking specifically about what are usually called ego defense mechanisms (bear with me, the word 'ego' often calls to mind Freud, but defense mechanisms as a construct tend to hold up empirically, the use of the word 'ego' is helpful because it refers to what defenses are utilized to protect- that being, our sense of self.) So a narcissistic defense is a tactic employed to protect that sense of self. You probably know these by other names- denial, projection, and rationalization all often have some ego-defensive (i.e., narcissistic) root. When our self-image or pride are wounded, it's very common to lash out defensively to protect that image we hold of ourselves.
(here's a good article illustrating how this can play out in therapy)
I'll argue this is what Azula is doing throughout the comic. The spirit is consistently poking at the places that hurt, the spots where Azula seems entirely aware that she was wrong (because the spirit is only reflecting Azula's own thoughts and desires). This is a narcissistic injury, because it directly challenges Azula's surface-level view of herself. But deep down, she believes she is a monster, so what I believe she does is a sort of defensive embracing of that idea. If she can't be loved, then she'll be the best damn monster of them all. She's the daughter of Ozai, rightful heir to the Fire Nation throne, and she's proud of that damn it, because without that...what else is she?
A scared, lonely little girl who feels unloved and unlovable. And that is too much to bear.
Anyways, back to theory. Narcissistic defenses can become pathological, but they aren't always, especially when we're young. In fact, they're often the first defenses we learn to use- you sometimes see these called "primitive" or "immature" defenses for that reason. It's the reason a four-year-old will blame their sibling for breaking the toy even though they themselves did it. This is normal, it's part of development. Most of us, however, learn to utilize more mature defensive strategies and develop different methods of protecting our self-esteems. When it does come to a truly pathological level of narcissism, however, we're usually talking about what you might define as Narcissistic Personality Disorder. NPD is characterized by very high levels of narcissistic behavior and usually consists of extreme grandiosity, poor empathy, a need for admiration, and an exaggerated sense of one's own self-importance. People with NPD also tend to utilize those narcissistic defenses in high magnitude, because they never learned any others.
NPD is thought to have both genetic and environmental risk factors, like most mental health disorders, but it's not always well understood by the internet at large that people with NPD often come from abusive family environments themselves. Most of them have a deep sense of shame that's covered up by all those narcissistic defenses because they don't know any other way to protect their fragile sense of self. Their psychological growth was often stunted quite young, they never had the chance to develop a healthy sense of self.
(This is also why later in life abuse, while still devastating, isn't going to trigger a personality disorder.)
Here's a solid article on the development of pathological narcissism that's kind of jargon-y but I think should still be readable to a non-clinician.
Now, childhood abuse isn't always going to lead to a personality disorder diagnosis, least of all NPD. So much depends on other factors- like I said, genetics plays a role, and there's other stuff too- the child's temperament, the type of abuse, what protective factors existed, did the child have other positive relationships (looking at you Zuko,) was there ever intervention, etc. But my point being, having NPD is not and should not be used as a synonym for evil. It's often used that way in fiction because most people, including writers, find excessive narcissistic traits to be distasteful.
And yes, people with NPD can be abusive, they can be toxic. So can anyone, frankly. But a diagnosis is not destiny. NPD currently is categorized within a group of personality disorders often called "cluster B", which includes Antisocial Personality Disorder and Borderline Personality Disorder- all three of these diagnoses heavily co-occur with one another and may be related either genetically or via the same neurological processes that occur with severely disrupted attachments in childhood. They're also, of course, heavily stigmatized and demonized. I'll be upfront though, I've worked with an awful lot of people with BPD, many of whom have considerable narcissistic and occasionally antisocial tendencies. They're not evil.
So all that said, it doesn't really matter to me whether or not Azula meets (or will meet, I don't think she's canonically 18 yet...) criteria for NPD. It doesn't change how I see or conceptualize her, as a child from an abusive home that did not allow her to develop a healthy or stable self-image. If that coalesced into very strong narcissistic defenses as a means of protecting herself...okay? Yeah? I mean look who she was raised by. Look who raised him. Look who started it- Sozin with his grandiose, imperialist goals that left no room for failure...or love.
(And to be clear, Sozin did not have NPD. We see very clearly who he was prior to his conquests. But he fostered an environment steeped in colonialism and war in which his son, Azulon, who was canonically born after the start of the war, certainly could have developed it- which leads to Ozai, leads to Azula. We're looking at a clear, generationally traumatic through-line that starts with Sozin and his aggressive imperialism. If you're looking for the evil in a character like Azula, look at that, not at her psychology.)
Anyways, one last note while I'm on this rant- I honestly regret ever talking about the idea of "narcissistic abuse" when I was last talking about Ozai and Azula's dynamics in 2020, because I've since come to find the idea a bit distasteful. Abuse is abuse, it doesn't matter if the person doing it is clinically diagnosable with NPD or not- and to be clear, many if not most abusers are not. Being on the receiving end of projection, gaslighting, and/or violence of any kind is likely going to be traumatizing regardless of whether or not the person doing it meets any diagnostic criteria. And giving abuse a sub-label like that really doesn't help us understand why abuse occurs any better. It just stigmatizes NPD further, and makes any discussion of the full spectrum of narcissism and narcissistic traits difficult.
So, to answer your question, whether or not Azula meets criteria for NPD is, I think, the wrong question, because as I said- diagnosis isn't destiny. It doesn't do much for my understanding of her as a character. Do I think she uses narcissistic defensive strategies? Well, yes, and she always has, that isn't new to this comic. So it didn't confirm anything, as far as I'm concerned, that wasn't already apparent in the animated series. None of that, however, precludes her from finding peace.

Things no one told me about building an actual self-esteem because they don't really believe you can truly grow a self-esteem from scratch (since you're supposed to "hate" yourself "forever")
It's a lot of work! We're talking years here
I had to go through a lot of treatments and do a lot of things to get even started on the journey to get me to like myself. In a way, maybe the fact that I've been always alone "helped" but I'm sure it can be a hindrance for others. It didn't happen overnight and it took me decades to actually be able to say that I have a good self-esteem and sense of self. It actually only started this year! So it's all pretty recent to me. I guess one of the most important things for me, was to look inside and ask myself: "what do you want?" and go from there. If I didn't know what I wanted, then I would try finding it. It was a hard blow to take when I realized just how much of my entire life revolved around people-pleasing and living for others, trying to meet others' expectations and doing what they wanted, how they wanted, because I thought I'd be met with acceptance and love. Of course that doesn't work. You have a lot to deconstruct, a lot to unlearn and a lot to work on. It's tough, really hard, but not impossible. It requires a lot of patience and time.
No, you're not going to hate yourself forever
No, you're not horrible, worthless or unlovable either: your brain is (conveniently) cherry-picking every single thing you do "wrong" or "bad" and making it 500x worse. That's not your fault! To me, a lot of the discomfort came from gender issues. Once you start sorting that out and taking steps to address them, it gets a lot better! It's different from each person but being immersed in different communities and being in contact with different people can help lots. The other piece was disentangling my self from others. I'm not sure how to word this but I'll try my best: basically, learning individuality. Aren't we often told, or maybe heard about how some people are so "selfish" and "self-centered" who "only think about themselves" because these people are not easily manipulated or swayed? Or how someone can be so "over-confident" and, in the eyes of other people, they're just flexing and bragging for attention? Or how you can have "high standards" for yourself but people will say you'll "die alone" because you're not making any effort to be easily digestible? Once you start living for yourself, for your own sake, that comes with isolation, too! But it's not your fault and doing that is not a bad thing at all, on the contrary: other people are not putting the effort, time and energy into changes too. Seeing someone like you might be a trigger because they're forced to face their own issues they're not addressing. You're just trying to exist. Existing as/for yourself and for your sake is the way to go, if others have an issue with that, it's their problem. If you don't know how to do that yet, a really good way to find out is your passions. They can tell you a lot about yourself. And if you don't have any, the process of looking for it can be really fun and rewarding on itself.
"Fake it until you make it" is, indeed, good advice but
There's much more to your life and issues than that: you need to go deep, you have to find the root causes, or get as close as possible, and you need to work on them. It's probably going to be really uncomfortable. I find the "fake it until you make it" approach really good for crisis, but it's different when you're dealing with something deep-rooted and old - low self-esteem always goes way back. At most, you'll keep on "smiling through the pain" and taking hits to your ego and self, and growing a "thicker skin" when what you actually need is softness. Also, invalidating the "bad" emotions will backfire eventually. Emotions are neutral and serve their own purpose, even if it's unpleasant and painful. For example: hating yourself, seeing yourself as inferior or inept, can have a lot to do with how you navigate the world around you. You see how people who are different are treated and you might retreat and want to change completely because you are one of them and you don't want to go through that or maybe you feel alienated because you are different than others even if no one treats you poorly. You can never really win at that game! Feel those emotions, cry, scream, get angry, you don't need to fake it, you just need to let yourself feel it. They will pass. They always do, because feelings are always changing. Besides if you keep on hiding behind a mask of "good vibes", "optimism" and "positive thinking", you might never be able to address your issues. If you can never see it, or feel these intense emotions, if you can never pinpoint where they come from or why, they will keep on happening forever.
Navigating relationships (of any kind) doesn't necessarily become easier as you become confident and secure
Actually, I don't feel like the painful feelings changed much in intensity, they just come from somewhere else now. Before, I suffered because I thought I was "not good enough" and had to make myself more friendly/palatable for other people's sake, to be accepted, to fit with them. Now that I know not only I don't have to do these things (I should not actually!), changing myself for the sake of others' acceptance means I lose very precious parts of myself. Yes, many will not like this "new" and confident you. Let them go. Don't hold onto people who will hold you back and hinder your progress. You don't need that, you don't need them. Yes, even if they're family; yes, even if you've been friends for years; yes, even your partner or your best friend. If people give you a hard time for finally having an self-esteem, let them go. You'll find new people who will love you as you are, who will grow with you, who will see you eye to eye and not as a threat to their own insecurities and lack of confidence. Of course, it's probably "easier" to me because I never really had safe attachments, so letting go or being left behind are very familiar concepts to me, and come naturally, too. Even if it's not ideal, that helped me with my self-esteem so it was not completely bad.
No, you're not too much, you're not asking too much, your standards are not too high and you're not being too strict
One of the most incredible things to experience when you have an actual self-esteem is realizing that a lot of the things you always thought were just "too much" become your bare minimum. Again, it just shows how much people do not work on themselves and how isolating this whole ordeal can be when you actually try to do something for your sake: people are stuck in absolutely horrifying circumstances all the time and many do feel powerless to change it. That's the system working as intended, as people who are desperate, who don't think deeply or don't question anything, will usually take a more "go with the flow" kind of approach and will not try to rock the boat. This is why people with good self-esteem can be seen as such egotistical jerks and worse! They are threatening by existing being confident in their selves and their beliefs. They will question things and they will not put up with bullshit. This is the next step for me. Having a self-esteem alienates me from others. Not more, not less, just alienates me in a different way than before. I think it's now a matter of finding like-minded people with who I can grow with and heal even more, and not settle for less than what I deserve. I've worked really hard to get here and to build this.

They are imaginative, day dreamers who enjoy art, poetry or anything that pulls them into a different reality. Their an extremely intuitive sign that may pick up on the mood of those around them. They may have a difficult time differentiating their own feeling from others. They genuinely enjoy helping others and they take great pride in the level of love they are able to give. Being empathetic is not an option for them, it is hard for them not to care about everyone and everything. They are very sensitive, which can be overwhelming for them at times. Escapism can be fun for them but if they are not careful they can become to detached from their reality. It is important that they temperament their romanticism for life and relationships so they don’t get taken advantage of. They want to see the good in others and they find it easy to, but if they aren’t careful they could be victim to falling in love with the idea of someone instead of the culprit themselves. Pisces are connected to the universal collective and benefit from a connection to a higher power. They shine when they have a servitude attitude, manipulation does not serve them well. It is important for them to give out of a place of want and not to get something in return. Pisces Suns are great lovers, sweet and spiritual souls.
Sun in 12th: Here, an individual with Sun in the 12th house will dedicate a lot of time to understanding the hidden mysteries of the universe. They understand the spiritual realm better than anybody else. This is a powerful but confusing position for the Sun. The Sun represents what is seen and clear and the 12th represents the unseen and is very mystical in nature. So here the native will have access to a lot of secrets of the universe. Their spirituality may be very important to them. It’s is important that they do not over indulge in dr*gs, alc*hol, or escapist tendencies, for this can be very harmful to the 12th houser and their loved ones. Life can be very dreamy and magical for these people use their power for good. However, they have bad intentions it will be illuminated very quickly and their manipulation will take them down the wrong path. This is how people with this placement do end up isolated, in mental hospitals and and prisons. Although, they can work in mental hospitals, prisons, and find a lot of success in these hidden areas of life. 12th house suns may need a lot of sleep and time to recharge alone to be their happiest. They are known for their low social battery and isolating tendencies. They shine and are their happiest whenever they are using their creative talents and taking great care of their inner world. Sun in 12th is very intuitive, compassionate, selfless individuals; they may be psychic and receive messages through dreams and meditation.
Thank you so much!

Oh oh how about V3 Classpects?
Little known fact about me, I used to run a classpecting blog
Kokichi - Sylph of Void
Void players are secret-keepers, people who don't see a blank space, people who see potential. Void players like mystery and the unexplained, casting doubt upon what is already known, and would rather live in states of confusion then bow to an authority, Void players raze the old to create the new.
Meanwhile Sylph's are meddlers, some refer to them as healers, but I prefer meddlers, leaves more room for nuance. They meddle and prod and poke and have a tendency to believe themselves an authority on their aspect or parts related to their aspects. They can use their aspect to manipulate and change things, often under the guise of helping, even if it's really for an ulterior motive.
So a Sylph of Void can be translated to "one who meddles through the uncertain" and if that doesn't fit our lying leader to a tee I don't know what does. He constantly uses misinformation and misdirection and lack of information to meddle and confuse people, leading people to what he wants through not giving them the correct information, or any information at all. He helps but it's impossible to tell if the help is out of a desire to genuinely help or a desire to get something out of it.
Plus with the electrobombs he enables the creation of Void, by cutting out cameras and microphones, he creates pockets of places where no one can ever know what happened inside, which is a well known trait of Void players in homestuck, their presence makes surveillance tech glitch out.
Kaito - Knight of Heart
Heart players are obsessed with ones sense of self, of their image, their look, how others perceive them and how they perceive themselves. A sense of identity is VERY important to Heart players, they want to build a narrative of their own story. They tend to think others are just as into placing people into roles like 'hero' or 'villain' or 'sidekick' as they are. Heart players while a bit self obsessed are often very good at helping others with their own sense of identity and encouraging positive growth. Heart is an emotional core.
Knights are fighters, people who naturally understand their aspect and can easily use it to fight and protect those they care about. Knights are known for their masks, often pretending like everything is completely fine and they are okay while in reality having a much deeper and tumultuous inner core of doubt or insecurity. They hide their true feelings and pains to put on an image people can rally around. Knights often feel like they have some great purpose they need to sacrifice themselves for, to great inner conflict an distress, knights need to learn how to step away and let themselves have peace.
So a Knight of Heart could be translated as 'one who fights through ones self" which if that isn't Kaito Momota "im fine im definitely not coughing up blood im a hero you can use me as your reason to live" I don't know what does. Constantly fighting both villains and his own ego, Kaito wants to do good, but fails to truly grasp the nuance between villain and hero until the very end.
Ryoma - Rogue of Doom
Doom is a class of suffering, said to be fate's chosen sufferers. Doom plays go through great turmoil and misery but in turn learn a deeper sense of wisdom and empathy. A doom player isn't a healer, but a Doom player is one you can lean again, one who'll agree that the world sucks and give you a shoulder until you can move again. They take on hard burdens so others don't have to, if they even had the choice to not take it on in the first place. This isn't to say they're complacent martyrs, Doom players tend to be quite annoyed and frustrated with their lots in life.
Meanwhile Rogue's are an outlaw class, they take upon their aspect and the divide it up amongst the people around them, very much Robin Hood figures. They often struggle with dealing with their aspect, finding it overwhelming and trying to distance themselves, however once they come to terms with it, they're quite powerful and able to do immense feats of stealing from their aspect itself to better help those around you.
So a Rogue of Doom can translate to "One who steals Doom for the group" Taking destruction and death from someone and dividing that pain amongst their enemies. For instance if say someone killed a Rogue of Doom's family, a Rogue of Doom can take that Doom and then divide it up against everyone who's wronged them. As you can imagine this is a very dangerous combo, but due to Doom's inherent lean towards apathy, it can be hard for a Rogue of Doom to realize they can use the Doom they collect, instead of just taking it all on their own head. Ryoma fails to reach an understanding with his classpect, and so takes on the Doom of his death, failing to realize he can reach out and divide the burden into something much smaller amongst his classmates.
Kirumi - Witch of Space
Space players are patient, and tend to wait for a bigger picture. They can stand their ground firmly, but tend to act second to better pick and choose battles. Space players are innovators, recycling the old to create the new. The journey is very important to a Space player, wanting to ensure the journey is as beautiful and well meaning as the destination itself. They are masters of creation, and have one of the most important tasks in the game of frog breeding because of it. Space players can create matter from nothing, or manipulate matter that already exists.
Meanwhile Witch's are rule breakers, and one of the most powerful classes. A Witch rejects the rules if they do not like the rules, changing them to rules that better fit their own visions and styles. If something of their aspect is not as a Witch likes it, they have immense power to change and twist it to their own vision. As such a Witch needs to learn to control this ability, to not assume they simply know better then others and act as such.
A Witch of Space can translate to "one who changes and manipulates through creation" Able to change sizes, and shapes of any item, and create what they desire from just their power alone. They're likely rather smart, able to identify details like material about something just by seeing it or observing it. If someone says something can't be done or its impossible, a Witch will find a way to get passed that barrier, even if they really shouldn't. Nothing stops a Witch with a mission, not even death in some cases. Kirumi may act like she's a servant, but Kirumi is also rather bossy and tends to feel like she knows best. Willing to do terrible things to do what she thinks is the correct move. Kirumi breaks the rules of the game as well by actively running from her execution, something no one else dares to even try.
Shuichi - Mage of Mind
Mind is a bit self explanatory, as it's well, the mind! Mind is an aspect of thinking, rationality, very aware of their own mind and the minds of others. They can see choices laid out in front of them, often freezing Mind players due to just how many choices are possible from so much as a small conversation. This does however mean when a Mind player does act, they tend to know exactly what they're doing, moving with intense precision that required knowing dozens of moves in advance. Logic is more important then a sense of self, so they tend to have a more fluid identity, adapting different masks from even so much as thought to thought. This can however leave them lacking a sense of identity and may attach onto people with stronger senses of identity to build their own identity around.
Mages are a bit of a mystery class in homestuck, we only ever meet two and neither ever actually...elaborate on what it means to be a mage, and one of them's a very minor character that I actually forget is even a Mage half the time.
However from observing these two we learn that Mage's are a class about information and miracles. Doing things that seem impossible without even fully realizing that what they did was supposed to be hard. They have massive knowledge banks, but that knowledge comes at a great cost. Mage's are often at the complete whims of their aspect, experiencing intense highs, but also intense lows. All their information comes from first hand experience, for better or for worse. They tend to be very familiar with the whiplash of their aspect, being like a rollercoaster that constantly goes up and down and up and down. This brings understanding, but also pain and suffering, that can lead to the Mage reaching a sense of burn out or apathy. They have great power from their knowledge to a point of being associated with miracles, but the great cost it came at scars their soul.
So a Mage of Mind can translate to "One who understands logic through experience." which...yeah! That's Shuichi! That's Shuichi "I didnt even originally want to be a detective but i did it to pay back my uncle oh hey im good at this i like finding lost pets oh no im involved in a murder case oh yay i got the guy oh no his hate and everyone saying he was justified in that murder has scarred me for life"alright! It's a constant up and down up and down for him, he learns how to use logic and reasoning and masks to get what he wants, to learn and grow and win, but it always comes at a cost, a cost that traumatizes him and leads him spiraling. He's very smart, but he learned the skills he needed to be a detective at great personal costs.
Tenko - Page of Rage
Rage players are chaos bringers. They hate lies or false ideas, and hate fake stability. The truth is important to a Rage player and will tear down a system if it's built on lies and obedient masses. They are impossible to convince otherwise once they have an idea in their heads. A Rage player often sees the story they are within, and almost always loathes that story.
Which if that doesn't sound like Tenko let me explain what a Page is. A page is someone who does not understand their aspect at all but BELIEVES they do. They're capable of IMMENSE power that eclipses even a Witch's power, but the journey to get their is long and tedious. Having to learn the truth of their aspect, and how to actually understand and use it. A Page confidently asserts they understand their aspect, but will constantly fail at and misunderstand it. Slowly learning more and more with each failure over a very long course of time. It's incredibly hard to hurry a Page along their path, as they need to come to terms with all their failures and misunderstandings on their own, denying other peoples thoughts on it or simply twisting it to fit what they already believe. This often leads to Pages being exploited and used by those around them, because they're misunderstandings or false ideals can be in turn twisted to benefit people of more dubious morals.
So you could translate Page of Rage to "One who has potential to understand the truth of the world." Tenko throws herself into what she's been taught Rage is, Tenko has been taught that Rage means men are unworthy and that women are to be protected. Which she takes to an intense zealous, taking this as gospel and the truth that society is built on hurting women with little other room for nuance. It's extremely hard for anyone to get through to her and explain how that isn't fully true, how the story she's been told is a very dangerous mindset. Nothing really gets through to her, and when Shuichi thinks he does in the free time events, Tenko just twists Shuichi into being an exception who should get a sex change to fit into her views of the world.
She flips and attacks those who try to change how she thinks. However Tenko cares deeply for those around her even so, and actively goes against Angie and tries to take down her cult when she realizes it happening, hating what the lies and complacency is doing to people. Over the game, she starts to understand more and more about the real story she's in and that her understanding of Rage keeps failing and thus must change. Unfortunately before she can finish her journey, she is killed. Tenko has immense potential, but it's a slow burn to get to her true power.
Rantaro - Heir of Blood
Blood is the aspect of connections, bond. Blood is thicker then water after all. While Blood players rarely take on a commanding role, they inspire those around them, giving other strengths and stopping or start conflicts between people. Very "do as I say not as I do" types. Their power comes from others, and how they can understand and use those bonds to strengthen or weaken bonds to better know how to act and fight. They are ralliers, prophets, those who bring others to their cause through inspiration, giving them motivation and strength. A blood players specialty is the bonds between others and the bonds they have, which is often represented through chains. They make bonds, and mediate those around them. The bonds they make are deep, which can lead to a smaller circle then one expects from an aspect about connections, because when a Blood player makes a connection, its going to be an intensely deep one.
Heir's are loved by their aspect, they subconsciously understand their aspect and their aspect in turn actively protects them from harm or saves them from danger. They tend to do their own thing, not fully realizing the effects it has on others and inspiring them with their aspect without even realizing it was happening. They can even physically become their aspect which lets them escape danger and move around more easily, which for a Blood player is admittedly, kinda alarming! They tend to be drawn to their aspect without even realizing it, which can lead them to becoming stuck if they don't start to look outside themselves.
So an Heir of Blood translates to "One who invites change through their bonds." While Rantaro dies pretty quickly, we know Rantaro is very driven by his bonds, whether it be his sisters or protecting his classmates. When put into a corner he cant trust people in, Rantaro becomes weaker, less able to act, and becomes unable for Blood to be able to protect him. Even when he can't trust the people around him Rantaro is drawn to protect them and stop them from acting rash, stopping arguments and stopping Ryoma from killing himself. Despite being around for so long, the bonds he has and knowledge he holds make people remember him, to try and bring him back to life or to keep his effigy around as a reminder...or whatever the hell Kokichi was doing with that thing. Even while dead, bonds and connections are drawn to him.
Himiko - Maid of Breath
Breath players are independent, often seen as not fully being there, or simply going where the winds take them. Breath players are hard to tie down, going where they please simply on their whims. However this can lead others into following them, as Breath players follow their own goals, they leave impacts that make people wish to follow them. However Breath players don't tend to understand why as they just kinda do their own thing or have low self esteem. Breath players are as flexible as wind and air, but this can lead them struggling to make connections or come back to earth. This isn't to say they don't make friends, they actually tend to be quite friendly due to an easy going nature, but they can struggle to make stronger bonds and not just fair-weather friends as they can accidentally leave those they care about behind as they wander off.
Maids are pushovers, they tend to simply go along with what others say their aspect and thus they should be. They are often dismissed or underestimated as they struggle to learn how to trust themselves and their own perceptions. Once they do though they tend to be very strong, being as close to a literal embodiment of their aspect to the point of being jokingly said to be "made" of it. While still subservient to the aspect itself, once a Maid trusts themselves, they truly become one with their aspect, answering it's call to duty, and using it to better achieve their own goals.
So one can translate a Maid of Breath into "one who is made of freedom and detachment" Himiko is very spacy, caught up in her own world, but not doing much and simply letting others lead her around. She shrugs and simply lets others do as they please as she's caught up in her own world, getting confused by the bonds people try to make with her. However once she rises to the task, while still in her own world she manages to channel her magic and views into her goals, moving forward and no longer detaching from herself as completely to come a bit back to earth but on her own terms. Able to use her skills and view of the world to adapt and change things. Giving herself the more difficult true freedom instead of the easier pretend freedom of before. Nothing can chain her down, but she's awake now, and she's aware of how to come back down on her own will to those she loves and help them out.
Miu - Prince of Light
Why is their so many students I'm suffering
Light players are as mentioned in the Void portions, the aspect of knowledge, good fortune, scholars. They are able to take information from multiple sources and combine them into something even bigger. Light players go after information and knowledge like hungry hounds, getting hands dirty and ignoring pesky things like "laws" or "ethics" or "oh god what have you done you've doomed us all what have you unleashed" that get in the way of their search of knowledge. Light also has its ties in luck and good fortune, this is probably a pun on Lux which means light and sounds like luck.
Prince's are destroyers, people with great sense of importance that use their aspect to destroy or get their way. This can cause a struggle with their aspect as they both destroy through their aspect, and destroy the aspect itself, letting in it's opposite in the aspect's absence. They tend to stubborn and opportunistic, and willing to go to extremes to get what is rightfully there, even if they might regret it later or not think it through. Prince of Light can then be translated to "one who destroys with or through knowledge"
Miu has a very abrasive personality, she acts at least like she's better then everyone else, that everyone else needs to observe and worship her knowledge, that her inventions are the light of the world and the most important things. However her own self doubt leads her to hide all the details from people, but her skills of observation and deduction cannot be underestimated, like how Miu constantly calls out the killer rather quick in a trial even if no one believes her at first. She then tries to destroy an embodiment of Void, Kokichi, but fails because in doing so, she needs to destroy the Light, the truth, of what happened on that rooftop, which inherently gave someone who knows Void better then anyone else the upper hand. She destroys people through light, but by trying to destroy light, of the truth of her plan, she is in turn destroyed as she let in Void to her secrets. By her own feeling of being the most important bringing of knowledge, she brings in her downfall. Pride comes before fall.
Korekiyo - Page of Heart
We've covered both Page and Heart so thank Skaia I can just skip to the analysis but Page of Heart can be translated as "one who has potential to understand ones self"
Korekiyo thinks he understands himself, that he understands love and masks and a sense of self. He however does not and has very little sense of self, being manipulated and led into everything he does by his sister and nothing can really shake that view point. However, what he does do he basis his entire identity around, slowly very slowly it would take Korekiyo to come out of the shell that was built for him and find his true self, but if he could do it, with his skills and abilities, I wouldn't get in his way of figuring out just who Korekiyo is. He even wears a physical mask that he takes as part of his identity, but is actually an identity literally put onto him by someone else. Korekiyo isn't truly anyone yet, just an extension of his sister, but when he gets there, when he becomes truly Korekiyo, and just Korekiyo, now that'd be a sight to see!
Kiibo - Maid of Hope
Hope players do what's right, and will come to the help of anyone who needs it. They're heros, driven by their morals and convictions no matter the push back. However they can have a black and white view of things, something is bad, or something is good, and it can be a struggle to find the nuance. Hope players tend to be quite imaginative, dreaming of better worlds, of beautiful futures, of a place where things are good and kind and happy. This doesn't mean they're pacifists though, if a fight will help them make things better, they won't hesitate to blow everything up to shit.
We know what a Maid is now, so skipping straight to Kiibo. Maid of Hope can translate to "one who embodies belief"
Kiibo is constantly concerned about a better world, about robophobia and injustice. He dreams of a better world, a kinder world, where he can be equal to his friends. However the outside world keeps him from truly acting on these, feeding him a fake view of hope of complacency. When he comes into his own though, he is finally able to see that complacency and pretending to be human are injustices and he should have acted sooner. Ready to destroy everything, and risk killing everyone, just to finally get rid of the evil, to destroy what is bad and cruel to let in a potential of a future kindness. He tosses away meaningless words and fights against those who want to let injustice continue. While he never fully breaks away from black and white thinking by the end, he has come to understand that hope, that goodness, that morals, cannot be given to him, and are things he must come to find and understand on his own, and in turn, create a better world through them.
Kaede - Sylph of Time
Time players are always moving, always fighting. Time players refuse to just let things be as they are, they need to make things better, they refuse to sit still when there is work to be done. They tend to be goal focused, not caring about the how as long a they accomplish their goals. However just because they're goal orientated doesn't mean they will go the straightest path to that goals, they will instead often find a path more outside the box that ensures they get their victory. Impossible is just a word to a Time Player. They are also very aware of the passage of time, and the burdens that can put upon someone, after all, time is always ticking down.
We know what a Sylph is, so straight to the analysis, Sylph of Time can mean "One who meddles through immediate action"
Kaede is very aware of the countdown, of all the factors going on, she never stops, even when everyone else is tired and defeated, Kaede keeps pushing past those limits, because she can't bare to do anything less. She doesn't care if the mastermind dies from her trap, that's the point even, because the death of the mastermind is the best way to get them all the hell out. Kaede does not wait, Kaede does what can be done at that moment, and nothing less. Pushing and pushing and pushing until eventually her impatience catches up to her and catches her in a trap. Kaede is forceful and will do what needs to be done, for better, and for worse.
Tsumugi - Thief of Void
We've established what a Void player is with Kokichi, so I'll skip straight to Thief
Thieves are outlaws, they well...they steal! It's a bit on the nose their. They take their aspect from other and use it for purely their own gain. They tend to have high egos an airs of superiority, they have no care for rules unless they can use it for their own gain. They don't particularly like being looked down on. However at first they tend to be at the whims of the worst of their aspect, they very very quickly learn how to adapt and instead steal from their aspect, to never have to experience the worst of it again. While an inherently selfish class, a Thief determined to do good can instead steal the bad, and take it on themselves.
So a Thief of Void can translate to "one who steals from secrets" Tsumugi puts on an air of Void, of not being seen to watch and steal secrets from others. Her cameras are impossible to see, and even when you think you have privacy, Tsumugi is stealing that privacy so she knows exactly what happens while using what she's stolen to better hide herself. She steals the privacy and secrets of others, leaving it wide open for the world to see each and every little secret they have, all while using it to hide her own secrets and fade a bit more into the background. She steals away the Void aka lies and secrets for herself, leaving everyone else open to the harsh Light aka knowledge and truth. Kokichi can counter it with his own Void powers to bring back Void around him specifically, but others aren't so lucky.
Maki - Bard of Life
Life are healers, those who march forward with progress and tend to have an intuitive understanding of the people around her. They put others needs before their own, but can become bitter from it as they put their own well being into danger to protect others. Life players often have an association with nature and all life around them from animals to plants to fellow people and they care for it all. Life players tend to also be pushy, assuming everyone needs or even wants their cure. Doing what they think is best for a persons well being, even if it is actually at it's core a fake cure or would do more harm then good.
One may find themselves confused on why Maki is a Life player then, but she's a Bard, which is...one of the hardest classes to explain honestly! How the HELL do you explain a bard?? A bard is someone who rejects their original aspect, and instead embrace the opposite, which in this case is Doom, they're capable of INTENSE destruction to the point some people view any Bard as being too unstable or destructive to be anything more then a detriment to the game session. They tend to be avoidant of their original aspect, burying their heads in the sand until an incident forces them to embrace their actual aspect and destroy whatever made them do it. Often getting such a rush of power and understanding of the universe or otherwise nasty mental spiral they'll go further then they ever intended, becoming a threat to everyone around them. A Bard MUST learn control or they become essentially a ticking time bomb.
So a Bard of Life can translate to "one who can bring great destruction to and with nurturing" Which as Maki is an assassin, who became an assassin to protect someone else and then grew bitter, rejecting all forms of healing and eventually when she does realize she does want to protect someone and help them does the MOST DESTRUCTIVE MOVE POSSIBLE and then spirals further to try and do MORE destruction when she believes that FAILED. Luckily she's able to pull herself together, but Maki very much almost got everyone KILLED from her spiral. Now that she's got help she can control her bard powers to help and aid those she cares for, but BOY was that a close one.
Gonta - Seer of Life
We just covered Life it's fine
Seer's have an inherent draw towards knowledge, but unlike Mage's who grit their teeth and learn through experience, Seer's tend to find knowledge freely coming to them. Easily finding information to a point it becomes too much information, and they struggle to figure out what information is true, and how to even apply that information. Due to having so much knowledge they can be hard to understand as they speak in strange ways that make perfect sense to them, but less so to others. They struggle to understand what their aspect actually means, and how that applies to them, and what the means to them. What does Life mean, does someone have more of a claim to Life? What Life can be saved? what Life should be tried to saved? What is the meaning of life? Many questions. Seer of Life can translate to "one who tries to understand nurturing"
Gonta is constantly full of questions on lots of things from society, to what it means to be a gentlemen, who lies and who tells the truth. Who is nurturing and who means harm. As the game progresses, Gonta has to question what does it mean to be alive, what meaning does life have when everything is destroyed? is it better to die happy or live in despair? He cares deeply for nature, for his family, for even the smallest creatures but he never truly knows what is true, and what is false, constantly looking for more answers, he understand nature, he understands healing, but with so many contradicting forms of it, what can be done? What should be done? Gonta just doesn't know, but he'll keep searching for that answer, even if it kills him.
Angie - Witch of Hope
Oh thank jegus we know what a Witch and a Hope player is because this is SO MUCH classpect analysis, Witch of Hope can translate to "one who changes and manipulates through belief"
Angie wants to create a world that is better, kind, happy, and she does so by breaking rules, the rules of the killing game, the rules of morality her followers held before. While she doesn't mean harm, she twists others views of a good society, of god, to what her views are in the desire to help them reach a good end. She breaks the rules of Hope and the game to get what she thinks is good and right and just. Indoctrinating others into her views and beliefs, makes them see her hope as their hope so they can all come together and live in harmony.
She genuinely wants to help, but she only knows HOW to help by bringing people under hand, to see things as black and white and orange as she does. Angie needs to learn that she can't control the world, that she needs to let people find their good ends without her pushing them towards it. She want's to help, but she needs to learn to take a step back as well.
Feel free to ask me questions or have a discussion with me but if you're actively rude about my classpecting then don't expect me to respond or be nice if I do.

tutelary magic
something i've been encountering a bit lately is an anthropological lens on magical practice. I think the field suffers from western bias in many ways, and one of them is shuffling anything that involves sincere belief in the supernatural into a box labeled "religion". so i'm going to talk about tutelary magic for a bit. for starters, what is magic? magic is a way of effecting results in the world. it overlaps with superstition: things that are known to work, even if the explanation is scientifically wanting. a video i watched recently discussed magical behavior in baseball, and noted that it was most prevalent in parts of the game where luck dictates outcomes to an outsized degree - pitching, say - and less prevalent in parts of the game dictated by skill. even a non-superstitious pitcher believes in stuff like being "psyched out" in a way that wouldn't make sense for a shortstop - you catch and throw the ball or you don't, whereas pitching is much more nebulous in its play-by-play results.
anyway! i would define tutelary magic as a system of magical behavior where effect is sought, either in the actor or the world or both, with the assistance of a supernatural agent. the supernatural agent is generally located both inside and outside of the self. systems of tutelary magic you might be familiar with are folk catholic saints, spirit animals, and (slightly silly example) stands in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
three things leap out at me about this: 1. the freudian unconscious is tutelary magic, and possibly the most dominant form of tutelary magic in the west. The unconscious self acts outside of the agency of the actor, effecting results in the body. When westerners reach for a rationalistic explanation of tutelary magic in other cultures, they almost invariably resort to the Freudian unconscious, even if they do not subscribe to the Freudian trinity of id/ego/superego or any other features of Freud's theory of the unconscious. turn the lens backwards: the unconscious is a prominent western way of describing the extremely commonplace use of agents external to the self to effect the self. it is as culturally specific and magical in origin as a prayer to St. Christopher, a whisper from the devil on your shoulder, or activating Star Platinum to beat a guy up.
2. the DID umbrella has implications here; it strikes me as a way for westerners to reapproach the idea of agents who exist both inside and outside of the self, after centuries of subscribing to an extremely solitary and isolated self-concept. this is not to deride people with alters or kintypes or what have you, but it's to say that they're part of a wider context that is nearly ubiquitous in humanity.
3. belief is important to any magical system "working", but plays an unusually subdued role in tutelary magic. in all of these magical systems, believing in an external+internal other as an agent is unnecessary to be acted on by that agent, or to have that agent incorporate you into its actions. circling back to the unconscious, again, even people who do not especially put stock in Freud will resort to unconscious behavior as explanations for things all the time, even things they themselves do. "it's real to me" is close enough to something being real for government work, and certainly close enough to make a difference to the body, and sometimes to the world outside of you. (what happens when you grip a pot full of broth weakly because you're in a bad mood and it falls on the floor? does your carpet care that you think you're in complete control of your body, so you should have been able to prevent that? does it become more or less dirty as a result?)

Note
the bisexual tra "lesbian" larpers who flood lesbian tags with in-detail penis mentions or depictions, and then get violently angry at the full on homosexual women who tell them "you're bisexual, or maybe even exclusively male-attracted, if you don't think the same way about pussy (which considering how they mention "hole" in the notes this may be the case)" or "please stop claiming this is lesbianism / putting this in lesbian spaces" should literally just kill themselves.
i'm sick of the homophobia, the male-centering, the porn language, the conversion rhetoric, the political and emotional guilt-tripping, and the coercion. i know they'll see something like this and say "you're just a transphobic bully, see, you said we should kill ourselves," but how the fuck do they expect lesbians to react when they flood our spaces with "here's why lesbians actually like penis" just like every other homophobe has in the past, and then try to leverage our trauma of facing bigotry against us when we stand our ground and say sexuality is sex-based and inborn, and that lesbians don't like dick, and never have?
the worst part is that almost none of them will ever admit that they're the oppressors harassing a marginalized group, because it bruises their ego and means they have to put in the effort to change if they want to continue to call themselves "good people who support gay rights," instead of just endlessly ego-stroking each other for how "progressive" they are, when they're just the same old homophobes telling lesbians that they clearly are wrong and hateful and "need psychological help" for their "genital fetishes" to be morally correct (as if "female who is exclusively attracted to females" could ever be morally wrong).
hell, there may even be a tra who reads this and then reports back their deliberate misinterpretation of what it says (or, if we're lucky, screenshots for them ALL to deliberately misinterpret) to their discord hugbox so they and their fellow homophobes can go on and on about how stupid and evil lesbians are for "not being progressive enough" (read as: not allowing males into their spaces) while maintaining that they're "totally not homophobic," and actually, they're "more gay than those nasty evil yucky meanie fake gay genital fetishists who totally really oppress them." self-awareness would mean killing their ego, which is unthinkable, since they think their feelings are more important than reality, or actively decide reality. they care more about feeling good than doing good, and they certainly don't actually care about gay people like they care about the clout and sense of moral superiority that looking like they support marginalized groups provides them with.

@musicalisotope hi im going to. make this a post instead of a reply sorry i have a lot to say on this.
aru sekai is a really. obtuse series. none of its going to make much sense on its own. if it does i need u to share ur brain with me. anyway,
i think if u want to start anywhere i'd say either aru sekai shoushitsu, marshall maximizer, or laboratory.
aru sekai shoushitsu is the very first song its really long & theres so much in it & it sounds like nonsense by itself, however its a pretty complete summary of the whole plot. if u get lost once u hit the fuu lines & after dont worry about it we dont have the context for those yet. it's a lot to take in but once u move onto the other songs it all starts to click together like oh shit thats what that meant. it IS a lot tho. its also the most objective song of all of them; the rest are very subjective to their respective characters' views
marshall maximizer is of course the most popular song but thats not why im saying it. im saying it because it's the first time the concept of losing one's self/ego is really expanded on & thats a very very big part of the narrative. the lyrics it might be harder to pick up on that but the text in the background talks about it in a more direct way. its subjective to the chara's pov but it does a good job of establishing that "person" vs "thing"(no longer a person) concept. important to note this character is only an observer of that.
laboratory is similar its that same major concept of those who are still "people" vs those who arent any more. the difference here being its her experience as she crossed the line between the two. its a lot more direct than the other songs & its pretty easy to see the whole weight of the scenario & because of that it really helps put the severity of the other songs into place.
as for the others theyre very subjective & its a little harder to figure out whats going on. but in short kyuuyaku hankagai establishes its not just a personal risk & its a very long repeating event, shuuen touhikou is mostly to answer the question "well what if they gave up & didn't face the problem", oumen mokushiroku is overall that its pointless to take huge risks to themselves beyond the obvious, unplanned apoptosis is actually showing how the "doing things for yourself will save you" concept works, kanon gets into how precise their work has to be to get anywhere among other things, kugutsu ashura is a wall of words idk why u would ever start there its also weird bc she doesnt seem to be affiliated with the rest of them? an outsider forced to endure the consequences i think. i still have to dissect this one more for sure, & the new one yamete kudasai is kind of similar to laboratory but it shows more of the reasons people are pushed to the point of losing themselves.
there are. a LOT of very small easy to overlook details across all the songs. theres no one way to progress through the story since all the songs build off each other & show off different aspects of the plot & world they live in. & u also have to take into account not all of them are reliable narrators (im staring at the unplanned apoptosis girl in particular). theres also a LOT of details we still need expanded on to get the full picture but i think we're going to get more side context songs before magu moves onto to the fuu song to continue the order in aru sekai shoushitsu. the text in the background of songs that have it is also a major part of the story u cant just skip over it if you're trying to figure out whats going on. (this includes kanon. the original tweet with the decode was taken down but i still have the text saved.... somewhere. i will get that for anyone that wants it. very brief but it gives a glimpse of what the start of a retry looks like as well as why theyre in the situation in the first place)
VERY few people keep up with it as a series most people i see just think the songs sound good & leave it at that so i dont blame u if u do the same but its a very intricate story if u have the time & patience to work it out
also small side note magu's said all the charas have names but theyre a secret until later so they have to have some relevance with whats going on. it'll be a very interesting reveal for sure. we think theres 2 names in aru sekai shoushitsu (saginuma hisame & layla) but we dont know for sure who they are or if theyre even any of the girls in the songs. (best guess is the the shoushitsu chara & kyuuyaku chara respectively). thats not super important to know rn tho. also aru sekai series is a fan given name based on the first song since magu has never once talked about the contents of the series outside of what we get in the songs. (unless directly asked but theyre vague in their answers)
