#this isn't a callout because how do you even callout people who are unwilling to engage with the full text

read MORE carefully when you feel attacked, not less
I honestly wonder about the reading comprehension of some people because some of the reactions to my posts seem to go like this:
me: I think pancakes are better than waffles other person: WHAT THE FUCK, WHY DO YOU HATE WAFFLES
and... no, that isn't what I said?
I didn't say people don't deserve to be compensated for their work, I said that you can't be trying to pay people like it's a salaried job without having that kind of stable and consistent business income. that's literally how businesses go bankrupt all the time.
I also didn't say that you can't/shouldn't be able to make money in audio drama, I said that you need to do it SUSTAINABLY. off the top of my head I can name several shows that do just that (WOE.BEGONE and Malevolent being two I've mentioned in the past), not to mention people like Lauren Shippen. timing and luck have a lot to do with success, absolutely, so that isn't to say it is easy or guaranteed if you follow in those kinds of steps, but it does show that it can be done in ways that are self-sustaining rather than constantly asking for large cash drops to stay afloat.
speaking of, I didn't compare Harlan to JK Rowling, I pointed out how "death of the author" has been deployed by people who don't want to face HER hatefulness while still engaging with Harry Potter (I know many people like this as we all do I'm sure) as an example of why you have to be cautious when throwing it around as an excuse.
and I definitely didn't say that a Black woman was hoarding resources by having a crowdfunding campaign with a high goal??? very weird assumption for you to draw from what I actually WAS talking about, person on Bluesky. almost like you didn't actually read and understand that whole section before trying to jump down my throat about it.
I have found, both in writing this blog and generally in life, that the more people feel defensive the less they are able to engage with what is being said. anyone who has ever tried to argue for trans or gay rights with a right winger has experienced this, it's the reason that "debate bro" types are so successful. you pick out the parts that make you feel angry and you go on a tirade about them, rather than stepping back and trying to synthesize the whole message.
not once has one of the people defensive about the crowdfunding stuff addressed my key point of it being "unsustainable" in their responses to it. that is literally the thesis, sidestepping it does not make it go away. it just reinforces to me and others that you are not thinking long-term about what will and won't work for us as a community.
I should also say that none of what I post comes just from me. every single thing I've said on this blog has come from at least a few different people. it is not a one-person opinion party, something I'm not sure I've ever said outright. especially with the crowdfund stuff I have had conversations with at least a dozen showrunners who all think the current methods do not work, are not sustainable, and are only benefitting the same people over and over. I have these conversations with my "colleagues" (because I can't think of another word) in the space because I find it interesting and important and valuable. I am engaging with these conversations outside of this blog because I have an emotional investment in us as a community figuring this out so that we can thrive.
I still regret not making this blog when I first desperately wanted to to talk about The Magnus Protocol campaign. (I do have thoughts on the TMA ttrpg though, as a general thing that exists and also based in some basic understanding of how the selected system was a bad choice for what people will be hoping to get from this thing so people will likely be disappointed once they actually play it)
anyway, that's all I have to say on that right now.
tldr: I know my posts are long and there is a lot to get through sometimes. but if you are going to fixate on one sentence and ignore the larger context you are setting yourself up to misunderstand the actual point being made. and yes, there is usually a point, one that I find important enough to bother writing about in the first place.
actually, I should also say that I would be more than willing to have a conversation with Tal or someone else from that part of the community who believes that the current crowdfunding model is working and will continue to work in the long run. seriously, if I am missing something obvious then explain it to me so I can understand what about this is working. and I don't just mean working for you, I mean working for the community and creators as a whole. because I still see a lot of campaigns fail for much less, even when following the vague tips being handed out about how to run a successful campaign.

i do not think you should be running a tournament if mild mocking and complaining is too much for your mental health. not even trying to be sarcastic here, i'm saying it genuinely, i saw what MWDH fans were saying in those tags with my own eyes and it was no different from what you'd see in any other poll. in addition, handling the exclusion of MWDH characters the way you did was not mature. if you don't want to include characters from a specific property, you can just leave them out without mentioning it. perhaps this wouldn't matter if MWDH was a mainstream show or video game, but it isn't. it's an indie game created by a black tumblr user who puts a lot of work into it, and you're now inviting people to mock and insult it by publishing those messages on your blog. all this does is show that you are either unable or unwilling to keep your own biases separate from the tournament, and it's disappointing. do better.
I’m sorry but how is “voting for Gandalf instead of Emerald Heart is shameful” MILD mocking??? It’s not a matter of “doing better.” It’s a matter of me trying to have fun by running tournaments about something I enjoy. And if a certain series makes what I’m trying to do not fun, then it’s going to be excluded. And, I have stated time and time again that I’m extremely biased. I committed fraud to team my cat up with a Kamen Rider because I was told to do it, I let Viperpace tie even when they were 0.2% off a perfect tie, and I showed my disappointment when the Elsword/Zero team was defeated. I have biases. I show them. I don’t care if this makes me a “bad pollrunner.” If it does, you can simply ignore this blog. It’s not that hard. Block it for all I care.
And maybe I’m being a bit mean here, but I’m just trying to have fun. college is stressful as fuck and this is my way of ignoring reality for a few minutes each day. I don’t need people making me remember that the real world is full of shit and toxicity. So, if you have a problem with how I’m handling things, you can just ignore me. Make a callout post about it. I don’t care at this point. I’m trying to have fun. That’s it.
Edit: and maybe if they don’t want a direct ban the fans shouldn’t be as toxic as they were.

You are them. Your speech patterns are the same. Your blog showed up on my recommended AND all your anecdotes point directly to what is in your rules, posts, rp style. You can say you know "them" to put distance, but don't bullshit me. I expected you to not post my other asks too. You're too much of a chickenshit to admit I was talking sense, so you still can't directly talk about what I said in my asks right? I'm done here, don't you worry.
I've done nothing but address your points directly, you continue to repetitiously insist I'm someone despite me telling you that it doesn't matter, then...you do it again, proving why it does not matter. I've posted every one of your asks, except the one that dropped a URL. This is, again, against the rules I set as we do accept vent posts and are not interested in having anyone harassed because of this blog depositing their URL. I don't know what part of "I'm not going to argue this" isn't clear to you, but maybe you're not understanding why and require a clear break down?
Clear Break Down:
At no point has it been a good use of my time, or anyone else's time, to dispute anything with you that is not disputable. By dropping in to make strong assertions, it is clear that your mind is made up and you are quite proud of yourself. Therefore, there is nothing that can be said to you that is of value. Breaking down the issues with your assertion is irrelevant to engage in, as you have already made up your mind and will not have it changed. One should not engage in bad faith arguments, as one will be the only party involved doing so in good faith. This is something I have made advisements to - if someone believes anything strongly enough, it is a waste of one's time to argue with them about it, as they will not be altering that stance regardless of any sense, evidence, or vehemence given them. You believe this, you came into my inbox believing it, you will remain fixedly with this belief. My refusal to engage by pointing out the issues with what you feel is evidence, prior to you once again feeling this assured or presently, has only served to continually prove my point - that there is no point in arguing with someone who has made up their mind on something. As you surely must have noticed while browsing this blog, the only time I engage with people like that is when that response can prove a point or make someone else feel better about their own harassment. It is the best purpose that their ask can serve. Yours has served that purpose, not the purpose of being irrationally argumentative with someone who will not be proven wrong, even upon being proven wrong. The only thing I have bothered to point out to you was this very difference, a thing you clearly take issue with on that RP blog, and what did you do? Returned with this, once more validating my point, not yours. No matter how many types of barnyard animal feces you throw into the compost heap of your insistence.
Is it clear enough for you? No? One more round: There is nothing that can be said to you in refutation if you are unwilling to accept refutation, the core of participating in a good faith discussion, something that you made clear you would not be capable of from the outset. You are not owed a good faith discussion from only one end of that discussion, regardless of how outraged that makes you.
I'm sure it does sound like sense to you, Anon, it's alright. You believe you, that's what is important here! I hope the whole rest of your year is improved by taking this nugget of self-induced happiness into your heart and going forth, I'm glad I could do that for you, since I can't do anything else. However, since I only block those participating in callout culture and otherwise harassing RPers who are not myself, you are welcome to come back any time you have something more legitimate to ask.
As an aside, yes, getting people's desired pronouns correct is important, and that mun is nonbinary and accepts they/them as well as other pronouns, so? Yes? "Them." This is also common practice when not designating a particular, known person. I refer to unknown parties mentioned in asks this way as well, even if I could guess who the asker or the mun mentioned therein was, I'm extremely serious about providing an insulated space where muns can be anonymous. Even when I don't agree with them, even when things have sounded quite familiar to me.
Go breathe some fresh air, look at some clouds, have a snack, consider some CBD gummies, if you're not allergic or anything, they've gotten fairly affordable in most places! If you're harassing RPH blogs and this fixed on propagating your own drama from clippings of two unpopular blogs, you have been on this hellsite too long. Recenter. Refocus. Relax.
Have a chicken this time.
