I completely forgot to share my Gengetsu cosplay with you guys for some reason
ive only worn her once at a big event this july (which had a touhou panel so i knew at least I would get recognized a few times. Guys they had merch of her there. i went insane. No i didnt get the stickers bc they were gacha and i kept getting other characters but oh boy did i try my best)
and i dearly miss going out and about as my TurboBlorbo of all time its one of those days. Let me back in. I'm begging you. Let me back in.
Mamizou done~! just some minor prop work left (bottle, notebook, I have them I just need to make them pretty)
I will be debuting this one at Animazement this year.
It has pockets, the big tail ALSO has pockets (3 of them with snap close buttons)
most of the outfit is from scratch (minus wig, glasses, shoes though I did mod these)
Yes, that includes the tail harness
No the bells on the shoes do not jingle, I killed them. 3 minutes into testing them and they were driving me nuts, a whole con like that was not going to happen. The hat DOES still jingle and I may be funny and hide one in the tail pockets.
See you all at the next Road Shou!
Thank you, Parsee and Ran cosplayers who ran the Underground Izakaya at TouhouFest this year. Your miso soup was awesome and kept me moving!
(For those who dont know, I cosplayed as Aya and did a lot of stuff at the convention, namely singing, playing trumpet, and generally being very silly. If you've seen any buzz from TouhouFest, I might've been mentioned haha)
Today I fixed up my Mini-Hakkero prop for my cosplay!
Originally made it last year, but bringing it to cons ended up killing my terribly loose solder and crimp jobs for the admittedly janky internal wiring. For my fix I ended up having to skip 3 unreachable LEDs and attach new wires to the LED spiral (the shell stuck too much together and I could not reach under the battery holder anymore). A compromise, but one that ended up looking alright.
It's not the cleanest thing, but it was my first ever arduino project and with the new pattern i set up, it works decently enough as a cosplay prop :)
Thank you everyone who attended, everyone who performed, everyone who traveled far to be here, everyone who cosplayed, everyone who sold their art here, everyone who worked their butts off to keep things running, everyone who... well, just everyone!!
Even though this isn't a full Mamizou cosplay (I am still missing the outfit): I really enjoy how it turned out!
My posture here is great, and I really nailed that "Tanuki" vibe.
Made some real progress on my Youmu cosplay after months of procrastinating on it!
I was originally planning to wear it with a white button down shirt I already own but I seem to have lost it, and I ended up really loving the look of the sleeves of the blouse I used for fitting so I will probably make one in a similar style.
The ghost pattern is just very simple chain stitch embroidery, but it ended up looking really nice!
Tbh Touhou Cosplayers gotta be on a whole different level from other cosplays I've seen.
A lot of the time I can't help but feel as though a good few cosplays have the appearance of being made up of cheap fabric, and cheap practices, with the clothing itself. While with Touhou cosplays, that doesn't really apply for the most part. Most of what I have seen is just. So high quality. The cloth, the frills, the patterns, the ribbons... just feel so fashionable. So striking. So tasteful. So beautiful... so well put together! Idk how to fully articulate this but man. The cosplays do slap!
