Liesel is hands DOWN Bibliothèque by Byredo. I don't think she'd BUY this perfume for herself (IDK what she'd acutally buy tbh- maybe Mémoire d'une Odeur by Gucci) but Bibliotheque is what she DOES actually smell like naturally. Its light and fresh but with that paper and ink smell that just transports the senses to an airy monastery or library on a spring day with the sweet breeze coming through. A possibility for her is Paper by Commodity even though I'm not entirely sure because I've never smelled that one and its very tricky to nail the right aesthetic though it has been described as very bookshop like. I would LIKE to include something involving lavender, as many people has said they think Liese wears lavender, but I'm just going to assume she wears a lavender lotion or soap because I don't thinks she'd pick a lavender perfume. Perfume wise, Liese doesn't buy herself perfume? Its like jewelry for her- if someone gifts it she wears it, otherwise she doesn't think to buy herself perfume.

Olga's perfume is ACUTALLY known and its "The Rose" by Coty which is literally JUST rose according to notes and people's reviews so for a modern take I'd wager 'A La Rose' by Maison Francis Kurkdjian. I'm basing this off the reviews for the original which say its a clean pure rose and I'd definitely say MFK's 'A La Rose' is JUST the same and I should know I own a bottle and absolutely adore it.

Marguerite absolutely was one of the FIRST to wear/discover Baccarat Rouge 540 by Maison Francis Kurkdjian but after it hit popularity she stopped wearing it because everyone wore it. She likes a distinctive elegant scent like Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle or of course (!!!!) the infamous Delina by Parfums de Marly but again I feel its so popularized that she might not wear it though she does like it. What she MIGHT do is layer both perfumes together, but I do feel like Carnal Flower by Frederic Malle is definitely a Marg.uerite St. Ju.st scent because of the white florals which is the true marguerite at her core beyond the popularity of who society thinks she is. Or maybe even Le Bouquet de la Reine by Guerlain because she loves supporting French perfume houses and this scent is so floral, playful and light that it would just be a fantastic fragrance for her (aka the queen of the people).

Nina has stolen her mother's bottle of Mémoire d'une Odeur by Gucci but she also wears Florence by Tocca which is a green-white floral on a daily basis. Maybe Chloe by Chloe when she's feeling especially feminine or Coco Madmoiselle because its such a classic feminine scent. While Liesel is more dark academia scents then Nina is more Light academia / parisian scents like I could say hands down Nina would wear Chanel N'5 l'eau, not the original, with a rose or lily oil to layer the scent.

Stefan is a difficult one. He's a woodsy-clean-leather scent kind of person, but he's also...a bit stuck-up so I could see him wearing Tom Ford's 'Ombre Leather' as a signature scent or 'Oud for Greatness' by Initio for a date night or when he wants to feel good about himself. Spicebomb Night vision or Hermes Terre d'Hermes as a day to day, light, regular personal errands run.

I don't think we've had the pleasure of meeting yet, but Mason Lockwood is also enough to make anyone's eyes flutter. The machine gave out with a hiss of smoke and steam. Tristan only just got out of its range before it collapsed into a pile of burning-hot metal.

Tristan stood there, staring at what used to be his latest attempt at a time machine. What had he done wrong this time? He’d double- and triple-checked all the figures, it should have worked! What was he missing?

He tried to fight the growing lump in his throat, but it was too strong. He fell to his knees and broke into sobs. For weeks, months, years even, he had tried and tried and tried, and the result was always the same. Now this prototype was just another pile of scraps, just like the dozens before.

How much more of this could he take? How many more times would he have to fail for it to finally work?

THEY’RE IN LOVE

When Alex Nedeljkovic got to Pittsburgh after signing as a free agent in the offseason, he quickly discovered a shared interest with his new goalie partner, Tristan Jarry – their trucks, as they drive the same Ford pickup, albeit different models, to and from the rink.

“I think Ned and I have found a lot of things that we’ve bonded over, a lot of things that we can talk about. One of the first things was obviously we have the same truck, so it was kind of cool,” Jarry said with a smile. “Just finding key things you can talk about, and I think just keeping the conversation going to learn more about each other, that helps build a relationship both on and off the ice.”

That relationship between Jarry and Nedeljkovic, both 28 years old, is a strong one, and Mike Sullivan believes that’s been a big key for this particular goalie tandem – with the Penguins Head Coach describing them as “1 and 1A.”

“I think they sincerely like one another and root for one another,” Sullivan said. “I think they push one another to be at their best. Both of those guys have played well for us throughout the course of the year. They’ve both played extremely well and have been deserving of being in the net. It makes for a difficult coaching decision every night, but that’s a good challenge to have.”

For Jarry and Nedeljkovic, it’s about finding that balance between being competitive and wanting the net, but also being a good teammate. Because ultimately, all that matters is that they’re giving the team a chance to win every night.

“You can take it too far and be a (jerk) and not talk to a guy, but it just makes it awkward and not friendly. That's not what you want. It's not good,” Nedeljkovic said. “So, you want him to succeed, I want him to do well just as he wants me to do well, and that's how we get better. You’re not gonna do yourself any favors hoping that he does bad and thinking negatively... So, it’s just being a good teammate. It's easy to do, and he's a great guy. He's a good guy off the ice, so it just makes it that much easier.”

As Nedeljkovic put it, they’re just a couple of easygoing guys. Alex is affable and good-natured, and Tristan is laid back with a sly sense of humor “that comes out of nowhere sometimes with some of the jokes, some of the jabs,” Nedeljkovic said.

watching Leverage episode 1

if you saw a previous post of mine that started like this....no you didn't i meant to click edit not post y'all ( @0hheytherebigbadwolf & @shana-rosee ) have enticed me and i am very curious about this show. i thought i might as well live-blog my thoughts as i watch the show. today will be s1 ep1. general thoughts will be under the initial reactions spoilers, obviously

General Thoughts:

WOW ok it is only one episode and i am invested. they give us great character dynamics, hints of backstory, hints of character dynamic backstory, hints of future plot points -> my cream and butter, my creme de la creme

this show hits all of my weak points. yeah, i can tell this was made early 2000s but that does nothing to hinder it. i am giggling, gasping, and sitting on the edge of my seat.

when mr. uppity shareholder man found out about his room being bugged, i was so worried because the plan was going so well and i really wanted to see this guy fall. AND THEN WHEN THE FBI CAME TO ARREST HIM??? HELLO????

but yes, very great pilot, i will watch episode 2

5. Gottfried von Strassburg. 0/10, a real bottom-of-the-barrel Isolde. All of her compelling qualities are ported onto other characters so that she can embody the empty shell of idealized femininity: she doesn’t have the medical skill to heal Tristan, her mother does; she doesn’t have any political savvy, Brangien does. Insipid, limp, fickle, boring. Also, and this isn’t strictly related to her, but it is emphasized that she HATES Tristan prior to the potion, and I vastly prefer the versions where they develop a real friendship before the potion turns them into lust-drunk maniacs.

4. Eilhart von Oberge 4/10, a mixed bag. You see where Gottfried got some of his Isolde’s worst characteristics — the pettiness, the fickleness, both when Tristan does something extremely minor like not halting for her sake, and the awful post-wedding-night trying to murder Brangien thing. But she also keeps many of her fun qualities — her medical skill, her deductive reasoning (the detective work to figure out that the Lord High Steward didn’t kill the dragon! Finding Tristan by tracking down his non-Irish horseshoes!). You tried, Eilhart, but you didn’t try hard enough.

3. The Prose Tristan. 7/10, this Isolde is really cooking with gas. She’s giving Tristan a run for his money in the writing-emo-songs department, which sounds honestly insufferable for everyone around them but they seem happy, so like good for them. When called out by Mark gives him a real “yeah, I AM in love with Tristan, and I sure hate you, the fuck are you gonna do about it,” which we love for her. Points docked for attempted Brangien murder, however.

2. Le Morte D’Arthur. 9/10, the Isolde that first made me not normal about Arthuriana. She’s willing to do anything to save Brangien. She holds a castle against Palamedes while he lies down outside the gates and mopes. She writes heartfelt letters to Guenevere. She has a very sweet relationship with Dinadan and lets him pour out his heart about how much he hates love.

1. Béroul 10/10 no notes. Ten steps ahead of Mark at every turn and hilarious about it. Engineering the scenario wherein she will be able to swear honestly that no man ever been between her thighs except Mark and “the leper who made himself a beast of burden and carried me across the ford, and my husband King Mark” by ordering Tristan, in the guise of a beggar, to get down on his knees and “turn your face away and your back toward me, and I will straddle you like a man,” in case we were in any doubt about what they get up to in bed. An icon. A legend. The greatest tragedy of the Arthurian manuscript tradition is that we only have fragments of this one.

Got tagged by @paulinedorchester to weigh in with my thoughts about what the heck Tristan Farnon is going to be doing with himself at the end of Season 3 of All Creatures Great and Small.

I, too, was, a bit confused about what the Royal Army Veterinary Corps would be doing, given David Webster's line at the end of Band of Brothers - "What are you DOING? You still have HORSES? Say hello to Ford and GENERAL FUCKING MOTORS."

It is true - demand for animals in the face of mechanization was declining. In 1938 the Army Veterinary School at Aldershot closed, and in 1942 the Army Remount Service, responsible for training and providing replacement horses, merged with the RAVC. Horses were still in use for Household Cavalry regiments at home, but nearer the front line there was still a demand for pack animals (and thus a need for a vet) in places where roads and local infrastructure couldn't support trucks. The North African and Italian campaigns, for instance, saw a lot of mule and camel usage. (Anyone wanting a truly different war animal story will have to check out Elephant Company, by Vicki Constantine Croke, about a group of partisans/irregulars operating in Burma with - you guessed it - elephants.)

And it wasn't just pack animals - The RVAC and US Army Veterinary Corps also provided working military dogs, which were trained for a variety of uses. The US Army Veterinary Corps also was (and continues to be) highly involved in food safety, especially in the pre-industrial era where Quartermaster Corps cooks might be doing their own butchering out in the field.

Imagine the first time Killian ever gets drunk in front of Walter in house mate au lol if anyone remembers my au for spies in disguise.

So Walter comes back in the evening and finds Killian just draped across the couch, doodling away looking serious so Walter thinks he's working on something serious.

Walter offers to order in .

Killian looks like he's scowling or frowning at him as he climbs off the couch and rises to his feet and it feels like something rising high out of the water or something.

Walter swallows

"Sorry won't bother you, I see you're busy."

He starts to turn away , Killian grabs his wrist gently , Walter turns back only to be met with this gorgeous beautiful portrait of himself.

(Tristan Mcford was supposed to be killians name before they decided to change it to Killian it's usually a fan thing to use it as his real name and Killian his Alias)

"Tristan... it's beautiful, wow you drew that , it's so awesome!"

Tristan's frown deepens and Walter goes quiet as a clawed hand comes up and holds his face gently, lightly squishing his cheeks and Killian leans in looking at him.

"It's terrible."

Walter blinks

"But, but it's beautiful...."

"Beckett I could draw you a million times over..."

He tossed the drawing onto the coffee table and pulled Walter close to him arms around the younger man.

Walter's breath hitched, he hadn't told Tristan he like liked him, he was so warm and he smelt of what he'd been drinking mixed with that smell of pencils when you'd been handling them for hours and a warm inviting body spray of some kind.

Killian nuzzled into his hair and sighed.

He hadn't told Walter yet that he liked him, his hair was so soft and he smelled like Lavender and a faint smell of smiles and chemicals that came from Beckett's work place.

"I could draw you a million times over and I'd still never capture just how beautiful you really are...how blue your eyes... soft freckles across your nose..."

As Walter listened to him he started to notice Killian getting heavier on him.

"The colour of your hair in the sun so wonderful... delicate skin...so kind so sweet...so caring "

And heavier.

"Killian?"

And heavier until he couldn't support the older man's weight and found himself pinned to the floor and being cuddled.

He moved just so he could breathe but realised sleep drunk Killian wasn't going to let him go so he reached up for a couch cushion and put it under his head and pulled up his wrist computer.

He didn't feel like waking drunk Tristan Mc Ford so he stayed still, staring up at the holo screen while playing with Killians hair.

Killian couldn't have meant those things right, just completely hammered was all ...yeah...but maybe just maybe...he had?

Hmmm wouldn't that just be nice ... to imagine such a thing ...so wonderfully perfectly....he settled on the floor and adjusted him, might as well use him like a blanket to while he was down here and Killian seemed to happily sleepily oblige as he cuddled him

I know this is the absute stupid dumb take to be agitated about but I resent when good quality workwear is turned into a Trendy Brand. It was done with Doc Martens, Timberlands, and its happening to Carharrt. Yes these things were fairly pricey before they became Fashion Brands but they were cheap considering their quality and purpose use. Now ypu have to spend a fortune on duckbibs and insulated work jackets because Gen Z Hipsters (I guess theyre called E-Boys/Girls whatever) wear them for status.

I dont do a lot of manual labor, but I appreciate the need for them for people who do heavy labor jobs, and you need to be able to afford good shit that wont break after a month.

IDK it kind of rubs me the same way as seeing giant lifted pristine Ford trucks in suburban strip mall parking lots. What you hauling there, Tristan?
