You fall on the floor right away.

You get an "off with your head!"

He's just embarrassed and ends up feeling bad for letting you fall.

From then on, he refuses to walk behind you so you don't pull the same stunt again.

He let's you fall.

But on purpose.

You fall flat on your back and he just laughs at you.

He helps you up though.

He's still laughing.

Panicks but manages to catch you somehow.

He thought you fell backwards by accident.

Stop you almost gave him a heart attack.

He asks if you're okay afterwards, and you tell him it was just a trust fall, and he's like "oh".

Figures it's one of your usual antics and catches you with a fond chuckle.

Warns you not to try the same thing with Riddle though.

He can't help but to tell you to be careful so you don't get hurt if the person fails to catch you.

There goes your money for the next month that you managed to scrape together with blood, sweat, and tears. (no thanks to the silly bird man)

He smiles and does his little silly laugh when he gets the money off you, so maybe it was worth it.

Goes to catch you but ends up fully lifting you off the ground instead.

He's ended up holding you up like Rafiki and Simba

Like Deuce, he thought you fell over and is hoping you're okay.

He's so nice 💔

You tell him it's a trust fall and he furrows his eyebrows.

Kinda feels embarrassed that he fully lifted you up now.

Awkwardly and silently puts you back on the ground with a straight face.

Jokes aside, he's got really good arm strength, so even if he's late to catch you, he still manages to hold you up.

He's so shook his glasses almost fall off and his face is going red from confusion.

Pretty quick to recover and uses it as a business opportunity.

He saved you from falling, so now give him your dorm building.

Ok hear me out rq. I’m a nerd so i was thinking about how musical instruments date back to like 35,000 years ago or something and music has always been a big part of humanity. In Apocalypse Yuu’s world do they still have music? What would they do seeing how music evolved in twst?

(I literally love your writings btw, the Lilia and apocalypse Yuu one was like gut wrenching for me lol)

Ay fellow history nerd! Also I didn't know if this was a request or just a question so I just answered it. Sorry if this ain't what you want.

Ok, so the war that started this whole mess would have been set during the later end of the 1900's. With the build up of said war starting towards the 1940s/1950s.

So the world itself would most definitely have music, but here's the thing.

This war was fucking world ending. It's called the apocalypse for a reason. You have to be as incognito as possible.

I'll elaborate more on this in the ao3 fic, but there is an extremely enforced way that you're aloud to look. You don't choose your clothes. You don't choose you're hair. You don't choose your height. You're 5'10? Lmao take these 2 inch heels. Now you're 6ft, you now fit in one of the height categories.

The absolutely most you can do is decorate your mask. And even that comes with restrictions.

So playing and listening to music? Drawing attention to yourself like that?

That's a death sentence my friend.

Music is only for those blessed (rich) enough to be able to avoid the conflicts all together and actually live a life.

People still let out muffled hums and whistles and whisper with the slightest hint of a rhythm but...their not upper counsle.

Those are the people who get clean water. Thos are the people that get edible food. Those are the people who get music.

Not them. Not yuu.

So, coming to twisted wonderland? Hearing songs that were sung loud and happy and not whispered like prayers that'll be forever locked away?

....yuu doesn't know how to feel about that.

2. Inspiration: Is your twst OC inspired by any villains? Concepts? Anything Disney-related?

Jess:

I actually made Jess on the spot without much thought behind them a few months ago. However, over time their design ended up being perfect for who they are in the present as a person.

So, I didn't have any character specifically that I based them after, but I focused on Disney-created media for their inspiration as I developed their character.

Made this thing some time ago and finally have an excuse to share it! Some inspirations are loose, some more specific, and some I may not be aware of lmao.

Also, ever since the TADC ep 2 dropped Jess became even more Pomni coded tbh >_<

Fun fact, King Richard is from the Musical Galavant, and Alan Menken who produced a lot of the classic Disney songs, worked as a producer in Galavant too! If you check the songs they have that old Disney vibe, and lot of them feel very twst-like too.

18. Backstory: Tell me anything about your twst OC's backstory. Their childhood, their parents, their siblings etc. Does their backstory affect how they are as a character now and how they interact with the cast?

Jovie:

Jovie's backstory is still a work in progress, so I can't share much about it yet, BUT I can definitely share some things about their hometown :D

(this is all made-up lore and not taken from the game, I'm just having fun with fanon world-building.)

They grew up in a small town mostly populated by magic-users who called themselves witches instead of mages (regardless of gender). Hench why she introduces themselves as a witch.

In their town, they follow a lot of traditional witchy practices, like rituals, a focus on herbs and potions along with getting their hat once they begin their magical education. Jovie's mom, sister and grandma (father not around) have bigger hats than her, the size of the hat showing the level of skill of the witch.

Nowadays, the witch hat is seen as an accessory for special events, but for witches, it's a crucial part of their identity. So, even though Jovie had to take it off in NRC (to stop unnecessary attention) she transformed it into a bow to wear on their head instead.

Along with that, potion-making is an art easily found in her home, as it's used almost regularly either for trade, sale or even for personal use. Some historians even believe that witches were the first to develop a lot of potion recipes that are now commonly taught and used widely.

Witches tend to focus on curses and jinx spells, as historically they used them to defend themselves. against foes.

Witches draw their magic from nature, deeply engaging with it through rituals. Each spring, they focus on planting trees and flowers as a way of reciprocating to nature after using its magical resources.

This practice historically led to tensions between witches and fairies. Fairies view witches as extracting magic from nature and causing harm, while witches perceive fairies as selfish for not sharing nature's gift.

Although this conflict has decreased over time, it's still a reason why witches often live in isolation nowadays and avoid fae kind.

(If I ever make a fan-event for their hometown I'm definitely adding Malleus and/or some other fae character because the potential here is so cool)

Younger witches use wands with a magestone to control and utilise their magic with more ease, but after a point, they leave it and begin using their hands instead.

Although it heavily depends on the community of witches, in Jovie's hometown focus is placed on the moon and stars, with worshipping rituals happening once a year to give thanks to them, as they see them as nature's most magical properties.

Some other communities may focus on the sun, fire, ocean etc.

May the Forth Be With You - Star Wars in TWST

Mostly my world building ramblings lol Please remember these are just all funky little headcanons and some (many) are prone to change!!

For starters, the Academy for Force Adept Individuals (that name is a wip lmao) has a much smaller student pool than the other "magic" schools, and as a result is a school not restricted to only boys, especially seeing as some species that are among the student body do not have definitive male or female distinctions. There isn't a definitive "dark" or "light" side- Force is merely referred to as a tool or energy, and not a "power". We know that NRC has kind of murky morals as it is, and RSA would stand to have a very strong moral view in contrast. This is why in a smaller school, with beings from all over (the interstellar "neighbourhood") it's difficult to try and teach one "way" or another, so the students are taught from as unbiased a standpoint as possible, as for most subjects that do not require the use of the force, droids have been employed to teach.

NOT basing this on the Old Republic, otherwise they would have had to have been taken in before the age of 13 as a padawan. They are still about 16-19 years old- transferring in from another academy somewhere else. The academy in TWST is a melting pot, and provides a good opportunity for students to learn more about the customs of those from around the galaxy and make (hopefully) lifelong friends. Along with your typical school subjects (history, sciences, maths, and language study of some sort) there are classes for agriculture, medicine and "survival"- reflective of the Agricultural Corps, Medical Corps, and Exploration Corps- to establish the basics in each, in case students are not selected as a padawan or they choose to get a job in one of those areas rather than serving as a Knight. (Force Knight- no light/dark connotations.)

There are elective classes for those as well ^^ for anyone who needs/wants extra credit in the main class or who just want as much practice as they can get in before going into the field they hope to pursue.

Other than those three ^ the rest of the electives also have clubs, as many classes overlap that specialize in certain skills Force users are being taught, but still provide the opportunity for them to learn, as well for upperclassmen to have a chance to tutor the newbies a little bit and give them experience in a leadership position (while still being supervised to avoid conflict)

A lot of the time, the clubs aren't directly related to the elective For example if the elective class is about how to change probability or to increase luck, many of those students enter the board game club However, playing against students that have mind reading as an elective, makes the game a little more fair But then there are students who also have been learning to shroud their presence using the Force, and can do the same for their thoughts, adding yet another element of difficulty. Yes there are classes that utilize their lightsabers and reinforce/ teach them correct form, but then there are electives for specializing and studying multiple forms.

P.E is mostly about building the physical strength and stamina needed to serve as a Knight- and I'm thinking that Force Knights tend to be more of a sentry, I don't think trying to cram a whole ass war is going to work for this. However there are also duels that rely solely on the Force.

Force users tend to be feared in TWST as they 1. are a relatively new 'magic' to really be 'discovered'/explained by other species in Twisted Wonderland, and 2. don't accumulate blot. Some people don't believe they really exist, the idea of midi-chlorians and people being able to manipulate them beyond their scope of understanding.

The Academy is located on one of the other islands in the Land of Dawning, isolated for the safety of the students, but recently started participating in SDC and magift/spelldrive competitions.

Notes: Gender neutral MC || This does NOT fit my theme and separators lmao 😭 || There was something continuously knocking on my window while I was writing this and it only stopped when I was adding the separators so I think the world is trying to tell me something. Might be telling me to sleep since it's 4am

I was re reading my ikevamp horror mini series and went, damn, wouldn't it be crazy if I could do this to twst? before realising that I could in fact do this to twst. Anyways, anyone else noticed how overblots seem to gravitate towards the player :) Almost like they're trying to get rid of them :))

Some nights, there is the sound of light footsteps inside the Diasomnia dorm. They're fast, faster than any human's walking speed and yet the movement sounds so leisurely.

The thought that it might be Malleus or Lilia might cross your mind. It isn't unusual for them to be up at this time, and Malleus is one who likes to take walks late into the night but it isn't as though you're at Ramshackle to enjoy the night air with him while in his dorm building. Don't let it fool you. It's not Malleus, and Lilia doesn't feel so sinister. Very few things ever do.

Don't open the door when you see a shadow pass by the gap between the door and the floor. Not even when you see it pass by a couple more times in quick succession.

Stay on your bed or on any raised surface and do not make any sound that may tell that you're awake. You're chances of making it through the night drop drastically if it finds out that you are. It'll ask if it can come inside then. It knows you're awake then. It knows you can let it in.

Ignore Malleus' voice. Don't respond, it's not him. Don't say anything when his voice asks if you can come with him on a walk. Don't give him permission to escort you if he asks. Don't respond, it's not him.

Don't move when you see ink start to leak in through the space under the door. It reacts to sound. Try and calm yourself too. It likes to explore anything that exudes any form of negative emotion and fear is one of its favourites. It's important now more than ever that you're on a raised surface. It has less of a chance of reaching you then.

Wait. Just wait. When it leaves back through the gap, then you'll hear it. Not the light footsteps from before, but a slight wet sludge and a rumbling growl.

Don't react when it suddenly throws itself at your door. It's testing you; it wants to know if you've lied, if you're still awake and haven't gone to sleep again. Don't scream, don't jolt, don't move any different. Because again it'll know. And this time it won't let you get away.

You've lied to it. It doesn't like liars. But it isn't like you'd have much of a chance if you'd told it the truth from the beginning.

If you make it through the night, congratulations, because you won't feel too safe in the Diasomnia dorms from them on. It certainly doesn't want you to.

Dynasty AU: Part 1

“Be on your best behaviour Yuu. The Asim’s are visiting. After lunch you can play with Kalim, okay?” His mother told him as she combed his hair. Yuu was pretty ecstatic, it’s been a while since he’s seen someone his age ––then again, he had cousins the same age, some even younger–– especially since this was the cheerful kid back from the party.

And he had nice clothes...nevermind.

Yuu nodded. His mother set down the comb on the vanity table before squishing his cheeks. He pouted but giggled soon after. He hugged his mom as a way of thanking her before running out of the room, followed by his nanny.

As he walked beside his nanny, his eyebrows furrowed, his eyes downcast. “What’s wrong Yuu-sama?” His nanny asked.

“Okaasan..why does she look sad?” He asked his nanny, who only looked at him with an undecipherable expression.

“I’m not too sure Yuu-sama, but it’s most likely just stress. After all, it takes a lot of time to prepare the house for guests, especially when they’re such important people.” She tried explaining. Yuu merely nodded at her explanation. He knew she was hiding something, but if she was hiding something from him, it meant that he didn’t need to know.

Though that didn’t mean he would be any less curious.

His nanny guided him to the green room, where he was greeted by his sister. He sort of wished his nanny would come with him, but as soon as his sister took his hand, she shooed her off. His sister smiled at her, and for a moment he almost forgot about that time at the birthday party. Almost.

Ever since the party, his feelings on his sister have been rather...conflicted. She was demanding, intimidating, everything she wasn’t at home. It was as if her personality took a complete 180. He kind of wanted to ask her if she was sick or if anything was bothering her.

Yuu felt his sister squeeze his hand. He wasn’t sure if it was a warning or reassurance. Hatsuko guided Yuu to the table where the Asim’s and their grandfather were currently chatting.

Yuu immediately let go of Hatsuko’s hand and ran to hug his Sofu, ignoring his sister’s yells. His sofu chuckled at his antics as he hugged him back. “Good afternoon Sofu!” Yuu greeted.

“Now aren’t you energetic, aren’t you little dumpling?” His grandfather mused. Yuu pouted at this. He was just excited, he hadn’t seen his Sofu all week due to a business trip he and his dad went to. He should probably ask Sofu why his dad wasn’t back too.

Hatsuko gracefully sidled beside them, bowing to the Asim’s who watched in amusement as Yuu interacted with his grandfather. It could only be described as precious, adorable, and undeniably heartwarming. “Yuu, you have to greet them too you know~” Hatsuko whispered into Yuu’s ear.

Yuu paused, suddenly remembering why he was in the green room in the first place. He sheepishly smiled as detached himself from his Sofu to bow politely at the Asim’s. Politely waving at an excited Kalim, who was all but ready to tackle the other into a hug if it came to it. His Sofu called him energetic, but Kalim was probably its dictionary definition.

Yuu noticed another boy beside Kalim, and he immediately took interest in their long hair. It must’ve been hard to wash, he should know, he had pretty long hair too, but it wasn’t as long as theirs. It must be fun to braid that…

“We shouldn’t keep the children from playing. After all, this is part of the reason we came here.” The woman on the opposite side, the third wife of Asim, stated as she motioned for the boy with long hair to follow Kalim. The boy nodded vigorously.

Sofu smiled. “Yes, we shouldn’t.” He sent a sidewards glance to Hatsuko, before motioning to the chair beside him. Hatsuko gracefully sat onto the chair, and honestly, she seemed like a robot with how proper her movements were. The adults led the children away from the table, instantly talking about a potential partnership.

Kalim instantly bolted towards Yuu, gung-ho, throwing his arms around him and pulling him into a hug. Yuu was rather shocked for a few seconds before hugging back, chuckling a little. The long-haired boy stood a good distance behind Kalim, politely bowing when he realised Yuu glanced in his direction. When Kalim had separated himself from Yuu, Kalim gently took the latter’s hand and led Yuu towards Jamil.

“Yuu, this is Jamil! He’s my-“ Kalim was cut off by Jamil, who bowed once more.

“I’m Jamil Viper, Kalim’s attendant and retainer.” He formally introduced himself. Yuu awkwardly told him that he didn’t need to bow, but it seemed there was no stopping him.

“No, you’re my friend,” Kalim said with a pout that made Yuu chuckle. Jamil sighed, bringing a hand to massage his temples.

Yuu was curious about Jamil, especially since it was his first time seeing him. During the party, he wasn’t there, does that mean he was just newly appointed? But aren’t retainers supposed to be a bit older? That’s how the Kingscholar’s retainers looked like. Or were those just elders?

He saw Kalim’s excited eyes as they wandered around the manor, his eyes darting around every single piece of art that hung on the walls, as well as the numerous pieces of technology, his curiosity was ever-present. Jamil was following behind them ––even after Kalim’s insistence of walking beside them, to which he declined–– his eyes intrigued by the grandeur collection. Just one of these paintings could probably keep his family alive for a good decade or two.

After Yuu’s tour of the house, Kalim had all but begged Yuu to let them into the kitchen. Kalim went on going on and on about Jamil and his ability to made really good Roti’s and curry. The three of them ended up running around the kitchen with supervision from Yuu’s nanny. Kalim was bouncing, carefully placing the bag of whole wheat flour and a few cups of water on the kitchen island that he could ––luckily–– reach. Jamil was about to go and get the rest of the ingredients himself before Kalim assured him that he could do it himself ––with a bit of help from Yuu’s nanny, who found it heartwarming how much the young Asim heir wanted to help.

While Jamil was mixing, Yuu decided to watch from the bar stool in front of the island. . He didn’t really have any idea what the two were doing, so he decided it was best if he just...didn’t interfere.

Yuu was curious about Jamil. He seemed distant, recluse, or maybe robot-like was a better way to describe him. He only did what he was told, followed Kalim like a loyal puppy, and always put Kalim above him. He didn’t really interact with Jamil much, mostly because Kalim was able to grab his attention at any given moment, but now that they were just chilling in the kitchen, maybe he could finally interact with the boy.

“So...Jamil-san, I didn’t see you at the party…and I was wondering why...” He trailed. Jamil looked up from the bowl, still stirring the mixture that was beginning to become thicker.

Jamil pursed his lips as he stirred. “A few days before the party, we found poison in one of Kalim’s meals. As his attendant, I had to poison test his food...you get what happened.” He said as he placed the spoon down and took the dough in his hands and placed it on the board.

Yuu didn’t know how to respond to that. “A-Are you okay now?” He asked as placed his hands on the counter.

Jamil hummed a short yes while kneading the dough, sifting a bit of flour on top since it was a bit too sticky. “I was only sick for a few days, I was back on my feet once the Asim’s returned from your party two days later.” He said, a small smile on his face as if reassuring him he was alright, but the smile didn’t reach his eyes...just like his Sobo’s, and even his mom’s.

He shook the thought of his head. “M-maybe I should take over…even though I don’t know anything...” He mumbled, but Jamil caught onto it. He nodded and motioned for Yuu to take his place. Yuu walked to the sink to wash his hands.

“You just need to knead the dough anyways…” He said to Yuu as he moved to make space for him. Yuu approached the board before placing his hands on the dough.

It was silent for a few moments, Yuu internally contemplating what to say next since he didn’t want his conversation with Jamil to end, and another because he was genuinely concerned. There was something that was weighing him down somehow...he wasn’t sure what it was, and he was pretty sure he wouldn’t understand it either. Jamil on the other hand was wondering why it took so long for Kalim to return, but luckily he could see him from the pantry. His safety was his top priority.

“You know, you remind me of someone I know.” Yuu said out loud, which startled Jamil. Yuu felt his cheeks flush at the sudden realisation that he had said his thoughts out loud.

Jamil hummed. “And who do I remind you of? I may ask.”

Yuu bit his lip as he stopped kneading the dough. “You remind me of Sobo.”

Jamil tilted his head to the side. “I remind of you of someone as great as the wife of Ryo Eshima?” He asked, rather amused. She was a great woman. She rose to the top, and unlike others who selfishly took, she gave. She managed to give the homeless stable jobs, the middle class the ability to rise the ranks, she even welcomed others as her own. It was definitely a comparison that Jamil didn’t see.

“Yeah, she’s great and all, but people keep making her a god or something.” Yuu mused, and Jamil just found himself nodding, best to take the word of the one with an actual blood relation to them. “She’s human too...maybe that’s why she hid her illness. Kind of like you.”

Jamil blinked, not expecting such a declaration. Yuu noticed the confused expression that coloured his face, so he quickly added. “You’re hiding something. You may not be ill, but you’re hiding something, and I want you to know that you shouldn’t be hiding it.”

Jamil paused, processing the words that just came out of Yuu’s mouth. “Trust me Yuu-san, if I could, I would be revealing whatever I’m hiding.” He said cryptically as his eyes became downcast. Yuu was going to ask what he meant but Kalim had finally entered the kitchen, towels, butter, and some fine sea salt in hand, Yuu’s nanny fretting about the young heir.

Yuu wanted to frown, but knew that it would just get the attention of his nanny and Kalim. Instead he sighed as he glanced to Jamil, who approached Kalim, taking everything from his hands and taking the towel and putting it over the dough. Seriously! Why did everyone hide everything from him!

A/n: I finally cracked. I did it. I gave in. I wrote for twisted wonderland characters, specifically my two favorites. I have many favorites, but I had to choose two cause I wrote for all my favorites and it was… so long, to the point where I was like “this is kinda bad”. But anyways, hope you enjoy, cause I really want to continue writing for twst!

Being in a relationship with jade is the best yet worst thing you can experience all at once. He’s by far one of the best boyfriends in the world, but if you’re not a fan of mushrooms… well… that sucks for you.

Loves when you come to mostro lounge when his shift’s done. It’s always nice, because then you hang out in either of your dorms, just hanging out together after a long day. :)

Will make you food all the time, but it always has mushrooms in it. He’ll absolutely fall even more in love with you if you like his food though.

Floyd probably makes fun of jade (lmao). Floyd will see you two together, minding your own business, and suddenly Floyd will come over and just make himself a third wheel. You claim it’s fine since you and Floyd are friends, so to… respect you but also get the message across that he wants Floyd to leave, jade will just glare at his brother for the entire time.

He probably makes things for you. I don’t know why but I can just see that for him honestly. Probably knows how to knit or crochet, and makes you little things as a gift.

Jade probably likes it when you wear his clothes I’m not even gonna lie. Especially if you’ve got broad shoulders, and a wider build, or are small overall in comparison to him (which dudes like 6’3 (190cm) so if you’re taller than him how does it feel to literally be a lamp post? /j), he’s gonna love how his clothes look on you. As I said he’s super tall and pretty lanky, but despite that his clothes still pretty much look like a dress on you, or just a really, really long shirt, and he gets a small confidence boost cause of that.

I think jade is someone who enjoys physical affection… to a certain degree. Smaller things, like holding hands, or being close to each other, that’s not to say that he doesn’t like cuddling or anything, but it’s the smaller things that really matter to him.

Such a tease. Such a teasing bitch. He will without a doubt tease you in any way possible. Doesn’t really care who’s around either, if it’s Azul then maybe he’ll tone it down a bit, same when he’s at work. But any other time? He does not care.

I think he really likes kissing your hands, specifically your palms, and he will do that all the time while staring at you with literal hearts in his eyes.

Very much uses pet names. He uses them in kind of a teasing tone though. Uses names like, love, darling, angel, and I like the idea of him calling you angelfish. Just cause I think it’s cute and on brand for him.

Called you human (derogatory /j) before you got into a relationship. You’d be in gym class just stretching before the teacher made you run laps, most of the students aren’t out on the field yet, and you know he’d be running over when he’d yell “YOU THERE. HUMAN.” However when you got into a relationship, more for your own… sanity please have a talk with him about it :’). After that I think he’d let the whole… human thing go, and be more mindful about what he says at times.

Sebek is someone who strikes me as very traditional, and by that I mean he wrote letters to you. Yeah, he 100% wrote love letters to you for a long time. It was always nice to see a handwritten letter on your doorstep every morning though.

Sebek is day in, and day out taking care of malleus, and now he feels he has to take care of you, so please… tell him to calm down and rest. Make him some tea, give him a weighted blanket or something, just basically force him to calm down for a bit. He’ll act like it’s a nuisance how you dote on him (even though he does the same thing), but he really appreciates it, and can’t hide the smile he has when you take care of him.

Horseback riding with Sebek? Horseback riding with Sebek. I won’t even lie it probably is one of his favorite things to do with you. Especially when you ride through the woods. It feels so… much like a fairytale to him and he just absolutely loves it.

Sebek is someone who’s rather prideful, and who struggles a bit with… expressing his emotions. So I feel the times he verbally says that he loves you is when you’re either asleep, or just at random times under his breath. He’ll look at you with so much adoration, and the few times you actually catch him he gets so flustered and defensive (it’s kinda funny to watch)

His main love language is definitely acts of service, with words of affirmation being a very close second. He would literally do anything for you, and at the end of the day just wants to be told you’re proud of him, and that you love him. (It makes him so, so happy, and so in love with you)

Will remind you to be careful all the time. He’s so protective, he doesn’t want a single bad thing to happen to you, even if it’s as simple as burning your tongue cause you drank something that was super hot. Will constant make sure you’re ok, and is always the first person at your side when something happens, even if you just have a paper cut. He’s so dramatic.

Speaking of… being dramatic. Lowkey I think that deep down Sebek is an emotional person, so I believe he would get worked up about things a fair amount. Whether good or bad too. You’re in the infirmary cause you hurt your ankle in gym? He’s gonna be on verge of tears asking if you’re ok. You get into an argument? He’s not really going to be thinking logically, and that could result in him saying something rude.

Loves very… domestic, and casual kinda pet names. Things like darling, honey, and sweetheart, though he often times will just say your name. Only behind closed doors will he use a pet name, or when he’s being a softie.

Everyone is so in character, it's all straddling that line perfectly of Accurate characterization and Wish Fulfillment. It makes me so sad when people say that X twst character wouldn't be interested in romance or what-have-you. You don't go and make anyone mushier than they would realistically be, either. You take the character, as they are, into consideration first and just agsjdkfl. Ugh. It's perfect. You're perfect. Thank you for sharing your skill with us.

I really appreciate that, you’re very sweet. I’ve been interested in dating sims and x reader content for a really long time and its one of my favorite ways to do character studies. Toboso’s also just, really good at efficiently fleshing out characters and leaving drops of dynamics that make my brain start sparking. Also apologies for what’s to follow because evidently your comment just made me decide to drop a thesis on my character building ethos:

So far as “X wouldn’t be interested in romance” (as in, x would never care about a person like that), to me that take has always been really confusing in every fandom I’ve encountered it in. Sure, plenty of characters aren’t going to go in for a sappy, end of the world romance where you promise your whole heart and devotion to only each other. Looking at TWST specifically, I have a hard time imagining Floyd, Jade, Leona, or Vil going in for that kind of thing. The thing about all those characters, though, is they’re still capable of forming relationship connections. What connection looks like isn’t going to be the same for every single character, but that doesn’t mean there wouldn’t be real feelings and affection there. Instead of deciding who does and doesn’t like love its more interesting for me to assume that the character does love someone, and what that love tends to manifest itself as depending on the context of those feelings.

What’s particularly consistent for TWST characters is that all of them have a series of walls they’ve constructed around themselves to guard some core vulnerability from the world around them. Yes, even the upbeat ones. Kalim, for instance, has his title as his core vulnerability, and has his kindness and generosity as walls around that. I think what we’re shown time and again is that Kalim doesn’t like the distance that being the firstborn Asim son puts between himself and others, or the fact that there are so many people who hate him and want him dead for reasons that have nothing to do with who he actually is. As a result, he tends to go hard on being kind, friendly, and generous with others because he wants so badly for them to like him. So the question then becomes, how does that interact with having an s/o, someone who you theoretically have getting closer to your vulnerabilities? Does he bury them in praise and compliments because he’s worried they might get scared off by that fear, or does he have a certain amount of insecurity about giving them things because that feels like pushing them back? These questions make for a really interesting push and pull and allow for the creation of conflict that feels natural without me having to make the reader insert too much of an OC.

Importantly, the core vulnerability is not the same thing as a character flaw (though it can overlap). Kalim’s flaws are that he’s frequently a little bit selfish and often steamrolls the needs and wishes of others in his excitement. His vulnerability is the fear that if he doesn’t make himself fun and likable, then all people will see is a prince that they’re jealous of. Riddle’s flaws are that he’s controlling, anal, and has a superiority complex. His vulnerability is that if he’s not Achieving, he must not deserve love and must be doing something very wrong. As a general rule in my writing, flaws are the responsibility of the character. No one is going to mother Riddle out of being controlling, he has to make the decision himself. The vulnerability, however, is something that the reader (or the characters friends!) has to work on with them. Its something so deeply rooted in insecurity and trauma that trying to talk themselves out of feeling it runs the risk of making it worse. I will never have a reader forced to do pep talks for Kalim’s selfishness, that’s something that he can and should control. But I will typically create scenarios which encourage the reader to affirm to Kalim that he is more than just his family, and that he doesn’t have to convince them to see him as a good and kind person.

All this to say. Interpersonal relationships, whether theyre romantic or very close platonic ones, are fun to write and engage with. People are like puzzle pieces a lot of the times. You’re never going to find someone without a few jagged edges. You’re never going to BE someone without a few jagged edges of your own. But with luck, patience, and a little bit of hard work. you can maybe find someone who’s edges fit right up against yours, just so.

leading onto the Mandela Catalogue vibes thing, i sent this to broken-synchronitity (i think i spelt that wrong-) but i didn't word it properly for crap and started spouting about analogue horror. But the question was:

do you think 60s-90s analogue exists in TWST?

because first i thought that they would've, but with old technology like the ghost camera Crowley/Headmage gave us, there is a chance that magic just had them skip it.

along with the sci-fi kinda tech now in Ignihyde i can say for sure they have advanced a l o t exhibit A. Ortho, but then it was mentioned that Briar Valley/Valley of Thorns haven't really aged much, as you said, allergic to industrialism tho i think some would use it, ableit bad wifi most of the time. also does magic interrupt wifi signals?? if so rip

What i mean from that is that some places might also be late in advancing and might be in the middle ground, or whatever they consider old tech equivalent to 80s analogue.

I can def see the vision—i think 60's to 90's anologue existed bc in this Village of Harvest event Idia gets dragged into Epel's little getaway by mentioning an old shoujo anime about building a sled....

I actually believe monsters like alternates existed/exist on the plane of Twst rather than outside of it—if that makes sense—

Lemme explain:

We know about the different classifications of faerie, we've often heard tales of them snatching kids from their homes (something dude in the hoodie does), using food or discovering the names of humans and gaining power over them—why would horrors about that exist when twst sees it in abundance?

If anything an alternate would probably spring up in Diasomnia—and from what we've seen with Lilia and Malleus stopping time and allowing Halloween to persist bc Mally wanted to throw a party for his ghost friends, them intervening is actually slim.

Especially if Malleus is uninvited to the meeting about said alternates.

Fae are allergic to industrialism, and we see this in their aversion to cold steel/iron, which is often used as support beams for buildings.

Its why Briar V/Thorn of V is said to have not progressed. 1: bc fae believe that they'll outlive their issues (referring to @broken-synchronicity) and 2: Because Faeries are the manifestation of nature itself, by humans discovering all these new advances, technological or otherwise, they end up facing the repercussions.

That's another reason why Briar V is so small, expanding would destroy the life around them and actually hinder them—Diasomnia shows barren trees because nature is nature (and its Dorm is in another part of Briar V)

I also def think twst!humans addressed the alternates issue a long time ago??? Bc us humans irl have a fear of uncanny humans (which is why Mandela catalogue is so scary) bc we've encountered beings like Neanderthals and had to fuck them out of existence (which is why some people have more Neanderthal DNA than others)

With monsters being prevalent twst!humans had probably decided that hunting being like alternates were the best course of action—and since they fall under fae classification, that didn't go over well.

I also believe twst is sentient in that alien beings like alternates from Yuu's world would immediately get eradicated just off rip and also off of the "Pruning" theory where twst decides whether or not a race is worth living or not by cutting off branches of time/reality that stagnate twst.

I do think alternates could start popping up with a magical mishap tho—

Leona specializes in ancient curses, there is bound to be someone out there stupid enough to try and summon an alternate (probably to take out royalty, Kalim) and it ends up spiraling into gruesome murders in that area and the subsequent areas after (bc alternates attack multiple areas in the Mandela verse).

So when the alternates start to touch down on The Isles of Sages (where NRC and RSA are located) the Teachers take immediate action.

I think the fourth years could play a part—Malleus too.

I def think one would spawn in Ramshackle just off of bullying Yuu and Grim—i read a story from WickedBee about how Ramshackle got its reputation as haunted.

I actually have nothing to add since the AU is pretty sound, I'm just throwing my theories around.

regularly asks Deuce for help with the word bank (ily deuce keep being awesome). Yuu can’t read, so they force other people to write for them. slap on the translation/pronunciation under it, and its good 2 go!!

the first word they asked Deuce to write was japanese for ‘cauldron’ :)

‘beast taming’ abilities: i do Not Know Yet

yuu can’t give them orders like in canon, sooooo? maybe it’ll be like a support magic that pops up in combat situations? still thinking about it lol

possibility: Yuu doesn’t have internal magic BUT they can harness atmospheric magic (like secondhand smoke?? drain runoff?). But it needs to build up first, so they can’t use it whenever like everyone else. Only useable in situations like:

- Ghosts (are made of magic?)

- Overblot fights (Lots of magic, duh)

- just fights (after enough magic has been used)

- magishift (after enough magic has been used)

either way their magic could be a support-style menu?? incorporate rhythm game mechanics somewhere? who knows i’m just blabbing

If Yuu doesn’t have magic, then it could be sort of a hand-signal arrangement? Yuu signals, Grim sits on their shoulder as a megaphone (that also shoots fire?).

I actually think the "giant river that flows by the city" might be a reference to the Euphrates and/or Tigris rivers in Iraq, since Disney's Aladdin was originally supposed to be in Baghdad, but they re-ordered the letters to Agrabah because it was around the Iraqi war. So anyways Iraqi Kalim and Jamil supremacy.

same anon, so I just saw the map and it definitely looks like a place you will find in pre-war Iraq (I'm actually kinda mad about how realistic that map is? It's like oh so you CAN put effort into cultural accuracy if you want to? Where was that before?)

Aladdin is literally just an amalgamation of so many countries/regions/cultures made to be this one homogenous group, its no wonder so many people from every single region can find SOMETHING that links to their specific culture(s)/home country sdbslakndlasjdns.

But YES the map???? so fucking detailed I'm astonished....my favourite thing is to decide which building is a mosque and which is something else lmao. Like I'm not gonna give credit to twst since they've done below the bare minimum but you really can create fantasy worlds and cultures inspired by real cultures in a way that isn't disrespectful.

1. How did you get into Twst?

dfghgfd okay, so I’ve actually been aware of Twst for quite a while but only just the bare info that crossed my dash. But then my friends @artblogofanekophile and @kotobukicutie got into it and me and my sis finally caved and decided to give it a shot! (thank god for that one you tube channel that’s been translating all of the parts what a legend dfghgfds)

6. Favorite card story/scene?

I don’t think I have any favs so far? I’m still working my way through them but I do like a lot of Aces story cards! and I’m sure Kalim’s and Jamil’s are going to be among some of my favs lmao

18. Anything you want to happen in-game in the future?

I think one thing that I would like to see is some more information about the character’s families and where they come from! I’m a sucker for any kind of world-building or lore around the different homelands so the chance to learn more about them would honestly be so much fun! I’m pretty sure meeting their families wouldn’t happen, but if they did I would just about keel over meeting a lot of their parents (Riddle’s especially Crowley’s gonna have to stop an all out brawl - or not stop me dfghjgfd)

My grandfather wrote poetry for each person in the close family for each of our birthdays. Sadly, I was never able to hear his poetry after my 20th birthday. Kind of, our apartment’s kinda haunted, but I live with the thought of ‘You’re not welcome if you don’t pay rent.‘ HOW ABOUT ALIENS? More believable than ghosts in this case. DO YOU DRIVE? No. IF SO, HAVE YOU EVER CRASHED? I don’t want to think about it. WHAT WAS THE LAST BOOK YOU READ? Deathless by Catherynne Valente, I’m still reading. DO YOU LIKE THE SMELL OF GASOLINE? Not exactly, I’m not the biggest fan. WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE YOU SAW? Encanto! WHAT’S THE WORST INJURY YOU’VE EVER HAD? I honestly don’t remember what happened but I had a wear a cast for my finger because it didn’t bend. Idr if it was a break or if I fell and it just popped out. DO YOU HAVE ANY OBSESSIONS RIGHT NOW? TWST, Honkai, Zarina (ofc, main verse and Genpact and TWST verses rn). Zarina usually is my main obsession as she’s my first serious OC with her own world building and NPCs, etc. DO YOU TEND TO HOLD GRUDGES? I’m told that I’m too forgiving. I try not to, but if I was abused or genuinely hurt I do. There are only 2 people I will never stop holding grudges against and they’re all from the extended family, so. Yeah. IN A RELATIONSHIP? Nope.
