I love The Shield because it's basically reverse Copaganda

It just straight up makes every single police officer look absolutely fucked, even in comparison to the transcendently corrupt and monstrous Strike Team.

Even the Internal Affairs officer that spends an entire season trying to take Vic Mackey down resorts to straight up witness intimidation because - as a cop - he has no actual morals, only a very specific sense of grievance with violated procedure.

It spends seven whole seasons saying "no, it's not just Vic and the Strike Team that are shitty, it's every single cop knowing they're shitty, letting it happen and being shitty in their own ways"

The absolute stupidity of the dudebro set or those that root for Vic Mackey reared it’s head again today on something I saw. 

How do people miss the biggest point of the show? That Vic was one of the worst BECAUSE the whole thing was he on some level understood what he did was wrong. And shut that morality off.

Everyone who cheers his levels of criminal activity as he deserved to take for himself... or Corrine or Shane betrayed him, Terry betrayed the team, aka he had to do it.... he got cornered...it got results...you fall in to the trap Claudette was smart enough to see through very early on. That the cop divide fell too. 

It aint about one for others and different for you. You cross those lines and you carry on and become just like. You’ll just keep the immorality cycle going. 

That’s Vic’s biggest sin. That’s what destroyed him too. That’s his ending walk out.

So going through Hulu and saw The Shield and I decided to rewatch the pilot which I hadn’t seen since it first aired.

I forgot how amazing this show was and how good Michael Chiklis was in this. Vic Mackey really is one of the most complex and compelling characters ever!!!

Shout out to the amazing cast CCH Pounder, Benito Martinez, Catherine Dent, Walter Goggins, and Kenny Johnson.

Special shout out to Jay Karnes…Dutch was also compelling (and a jerk that you’re not supposed to like) and the episode he strangled the cat to see what it felt like to take a life is still one of the most disturbing scene.

I just started watching the show called "The Shield" and now I'm on Season 2. Vic Mackey is 🥵

I watched Gotham first so I find it hilarious that it seems as if Captain Barnes might have just been a whole ass call-back to The Shield—From the heavy contrast of anti-hero vs. Law abiding hardass, to Strike Team vs. Strike Force—

Look, even the name "Barnes" has to be a callback to how the place in The Shield is called the Barn.

Still though, I'm surprised on how little fanfic there is about Vic Mackey x Reader and Vic x OFC.
