Synopsis: Free-spirited omega Shishikura and straight-laced alpha Kotani have disliked each other since middle school, so neither are pleased to learn they will both be working at the same company. Shishikura is even less thrilled when he discovers that he and Kotani are a fated pair! The two men take verbal swipes at each other every chance they get, yet still wind up in bed together again and again. Both chalk it up to biology and refuse to admit that deeper feelings might be involved, and Shishikura begins looking into other potential marriage partners. Will this tsundere couple ever get their act together, or will destiny be derailed by their own stubbornness?
Review Proper
Finally, the thing I mistook for Yukyuu Omega is here. *exhale*
If y’all know me, you’ll know that I absolutely abhor omegaverse (you can thank Kurui Naku Ban Beta, Sayonara Alpha, and Erito for that). Literally everything you could do in an abo has already been done. I don’t see a point in making more of these. Mangakas: Okay, let’s do domsub instead But hey, am I not a Okitsu whore? No. Anyway, even though I was excited about listening to this, I knew I was going to hate Kotani because he was an asshole.
There’s only one thing worse than an abo.
AN ABO WITH AN ASSHOLE CHARACTER.
But, in spite of myself, I actually enjoyed this.
I’m having a moral crisis, help.
JK. Unmei no Tsugai doesn’t sell itself as a serious plot, so it shouldn’t be taken seriously either. Unlike our deep try-hards. I mean, it’s your pretty run-of-the-mill dumbass gets an excuse to fuck the asshole, falls in love with him, the asshole becomes more of an asshole, the dumbass drags a third party to make him jealous, the asshole becomes more of an asshole, poor third party gets led on and dumped, and the dumbass and asshole finally gets together without the asshole even apologizing, medetashi, medetashi. But the way that Haruta wrote and movic set it all up was fantastic.
Now this is how you do comedy. I initially had some doubts ‘cause the narration in the first track was kind of strange lmao. It went from medieval style to traditional Japanese and it was narrated by someone who sounded like a news broadcaster wth. Is this a densetsu??? The CD later turned out to be a whole vocal flex for Massuu and Okitsu ‘cause goddamn.
Massuu, for starters, used a tone slightly above his Hirokuni but slightly smoother. I haven’t read the manga before, so I wasn’t sure how things were going to go, so I was very surprised that he pulled his shounen (aka his Kirishima) voice later! I loved it. His changes were dynamic, chaotic, and very fitting for Shishikura. AND! AND! JESUS CHRIST HIS SEXAY MONOLOGUES!!! HELLO??? WAS HE PAID EXTRA??? Y’ALL GOTTA HEAR ALL THE BEDROOM SUBJUGATIONS!!! I didn’t know he had that in him tbh. I was just blown away. He has never bottomed this chaotically before, if I recall correctly. It’s evident that he had a lot of fun recording this (as did Okitsu as per the cast talk) and I love that! It makes me wish this had a second volume so we could hear more of this kind of Massuu.
Onto Okitsu,
Y’all already know what I’m gonna say.
Is my bias over Okitsu making me like this? Who knows? But it’s undeniable that my man has, once again, slayed this role. I won’t talk about his perfect performance much ‘cause I’ve already run out of praises years ago, so just know that if you’re not an Okitsu bitch by now, you’re really missing out lmao.
ALSO
I CAN’T BELIEVE THAT WE’VE WITNESSED OKITSU PLAY TWO BETAS, A PRETEND OMEGA, AND NOW FINALLY AN ALPHA!!! We don’t count the disrespect that was Shounen no Kyoukai
-Chesk, 25, hates abos but will listen if Okitsu’s in it
Anywho, these two also had great chemistry with each other. They’re more or less in sync during their mattress mambos, so I really wasn’t spazzing out during Smoky Nectar. I was thinking maybe I was asking for too much. 😂 Idk what to feel, knowing that this is Fatgum x Kirishima
In conclusion, get this. Get this if you’re a fan of the series and abo in general. And if you dislike abo like me, this still is worth getting if you’re an Okitsu/Massuu stan. If you want to see just what makes voice actors good, you’ll be in the right place. As for those who want to read the manga along with the BLCD, it is doable, but bear in mind that there is added and cut dialogue. I only have the magazine releases, and I’ve noticed that the narrations are rearranged, so do try buying the tank if you can (reading the Chrima release with it is doable too tho). Gosh, I really wish this wasn’t an abo lmao. Anyway, I’m afraid there aren’t a lot of gag abos like this out there, so I wouldn’t be able to recommend anything similar. Go Kashikomarimashita: Destiny and Re:birth for more Okitsu tho
RESEARCHERS UNCOVER A NEW SPECIES OF BEAKED WHALE FROM THE COAST OF JAPAN
A new beaked whale species named Black-billed whale (Berardius minimus), which has been recognized by Hokkaido whalers for long has been confirmed. Known locally as Kurotsuchikujira 黒ツチクジラ, which means black Baird's beaked whale, this species differs from other beaked whales by having a substantially smaller body size of physically mature individuals, proportionately shorter beak, and darker body colour.
- Possible Black-billed whale Berardius minimus sighted in Nemuro strait. Note the short beak, dark body colour, and sparse linear scars (photo taken by Hal Sato on 21 May 2009).
Beaked whales prefer deep ocean waters and have a long diving capacity, making them hard to see and inadequately understood. Researchers still don't know how mature Berardius minimus female look like, as no female where found yet. The diet of this species is unclear.
Main image: Illustrations of Black-billed whale and Baird's beaked whale. In general appearance, Black-billed whale resembles a small Baird's beaked whale with a proportionately shorter beak and more spindle-shaped body The black bars show 1 m, drawn by Yoshimi Watanabe, National Museum of Nature and Science.

Stress of stretching solids: 3D image shows how particles distribute in metals
From the pots and pans on the stove to the wires suspending bridges, metal composites need to account for a variety of strength, malleability, and durability to meet human need. Now, researchers from the Nagoya Institute of Technology (NITech) in Japan have applied three-dimensional crystallography to visualize how individual particles shape up the composites -- and how they might be manipulated to make better versions of themselves
"Strength of the composite is controlled by size, spatial distribution, and three-dimensional shape of the particles," said Dr. Hisashi Sato, an associate professor in the Graduate School of Engineering and in the Frontier Research Institute for Materials Science. He collaborated on this research with Prof. Yoshimi Watanabe.
In making the composites, such as drawing out metal alloys to make suspension wire for bridges, the materials are pressed and stressed to break apart the particles. The particles are then drawn out into a thinner rearrangement, but they must be carefully controlled to avoid losing strength or becoming brittle. This process, called Equal Channel Angular Pressing (ECAP), is referred to as "deforming" the particles of the composite from their original state.
not kidding about that last post even a ltitle bit, good lord
tanaka’s board is phenomenal, of course, but in the case of an episode like this, id be doing both it and everybody reading it a disservice by not talking about everybody else involved in making it as special as it was. koudai watanabe’s bold figures, loose expressions, and impeccable sense of style are a pretty big part of what elevated this from “another fantastic tanaka episode” to “unquestionably the best single episode of winter 2018″, and thats not touching on the actual animation work watanabe did for the episode, displaying his versatility through the delightful basketball scene and the episode’s breathtaking action climax
and even beyond watanabe, its important to talk about the all-star lineup of young animators working under his supervision:
shunsuke okubo, a previously almost completely unheard of toei animator with only one prior key animation credit to his name handled a lot of incredibly delicate work without missing a beat; homare’s reserved body language and expressions sell everything the episode says to us about her; emotional beats that land with such force because they are conveyed flawlessly through the visuals
takumi yamamoto, who worked with watanabe on all of his tiger mask w episodes and returns here with style; handling a significant portion of the cheery, smear filled opening scene as well as the cuts that expertly establish the scale of the fight at the end
and of course, fast rising industry star keisuke “masami” “yoshimi” “yoshiyuki” mori (perhaps best known as soty), whose extremely capable hand makes the show into both a delightfully expressive cartoon and gives credence to the weightiest moments of its drama
i dont actually have a good way to wrap up this post. uhhh please watch precure
Day 23 (2) - Toyama Glass Art Museum exhibition: “Microcosmos, experimenting with new kinds of interaction”
The modern building designed by Kuma Kengo houses both the Toyama Glass Art Museum and the city’s public library, and it has 6 levels.
The permanent exhibitions are spread on two floors, and showcases glass work by Japanese and international glass artists. The Microcosmos temporary exhibition I was privileged to see featured work by contemporary Japanese artists, namely: Machiko Ito, Mafune Gonjo,Yoshimi Taniguchi, Runa Kosogawa, Natsuki Katsugawa, Makiko Inoya, and Chiemi Watanabe. All work on display was deeply impressive.
😴 Hotel Route-Inn Takaoka Ekimae, Takaoka, Toyama Prefecture
And the cuteness of Kashuu Kiyomitsu (Sato Ryuji), Yamatonokami Yasusada (Torigoe Yuki), Izuminokami Kanesada (Arisawa Shoutarou) and Hachisuka Kotetsu (Takahashi Kensuke) from the Musical Touken Ranbu on NHK's "Shibuya Note" dated 02.07.2017 continues xDDDD
For BREAKERZ's part of the "Bucchake Damedashi Hansei-kai" segment, the audience message that the group received ended up being,
"If DAIGO-san, who is next to the Touken Danshi, is given a sword to hold, he seems like he could become like a Touken Danshi."
(For Team Shinsengumi with Hachisuka Kotetsu's part of the "Bucchake Damedashi Hansei-kai" segment, it can be found: HERE )
LOL! Which, leads to the cameraman trying to get a shot of DAIGO with the Touken Danshi as well as the hilariously adorable exchange below,
Tokui Yoshimi (MC): Could, could someone-
Watanabe Naomi (MC): Is it possible for someone lend him a sword?
Yamatonokami Yasusada: (tries to detach his sword) I can't detach it.
Watanabe Naomi (MC): Ah, you can't detach it?
Yamatonokami Yasusada: The sword, I can't detach it.
Kashuu Kiyomitsu: Because the swords are us.
Tokui Yoshimi (MC): Ah, I see.
Watanabe Naomi (MC): (to DAIGO) Ah, I'm so sorry. "Because the swords are us," they say-
DAIGO: It can't be helped.
Watanabe Naomi (MC): -it's a bit difficult [to lend you one].
Subtype of Schizophrenia Can Be Identified by Enzyme in Hair
Dr. Yoshikawa
MedicalResearch.com Interview with:
Dr. Takeo Yoshikawa MD PhD
RIKEN Center for Brain Science
Japan
MedicalResearch.com: What is the background for this study? What are the main findings?
Currently available drugs for schizophrenia are the dopamine D2 receptor blockers.
These compounds were serendipitously discovered over half-century ago.
But about 30% of schizophrenia are resistant to the dopamine D2 receptor blockers.
In spite of these conditions, pharmaceutical companies have abandoned the development
of new drugs. This is because we do not know the principle of drug design.
Therefore, we need to understand the molecular underpinning of as-yet unknown schizophrenia pathophysiology.
Schizophrenia is diagnosed by only patients’ symptoms, not by biological examination.
To search for biological underpinning for schizophrenia using experimental animals,
we thought that we should examine an endophenotype (biological trait) relevant to schizophrenia.
Then we targeted prepulse (PPI) performance.
Here, dampened PPI is considered as a biological marker of psychiatric disorders, typically of schizophrenia.
Importantly, PPI can be measured using the same behavioral paradigm between experimental animals and human.
C57BL/6 (B6) inbred mouse shows higher (better) prepulse inhibition (PPI) performance, while C3H/He (C3H) inbred mouse shows lowered (worse ) PPI. We premised that C3H mouse is “schizophrenia-prone” and B6 is not. To know the molecular basis for differential PPI levels between the two inbred mouse strains, we performed comprehensive protein expression level analysis (proteomics analysis) using the brains of B6 and C3H mice.
The expression levels of Mpst, a hydrogen sulfide (H2S)-producing enzyme, is elevated in C3H mouse compared to B6 mouse. Biochemical analysis also supported the elevated H2S production in C3H mouse compared to B6.
The examination of human samples including postmortem brains, iPS-derived neural stem cells (neurospheres) and hair follicle cells, gave evidence that H2S production system is indeed up-regulated in schizophrenia.
MedicalResearch.com: What are the main findings?
The previous studies regarding H2S have mainly focused on the beneficial role of H2S. This is because organisms including mouse and human synthesize H2S endogenously. Our study shows that H2S, when it is excessively synthesized, brings a detrimental effect in the brain.
A functional consequence elicited by excess hydrogen sulfide production, or how brain function is damaged by excess H2S production, is that excess H2S hampers energy metabolism in the brain.
An origin or cause that induces the hyper H2S production state is, epigenetic changes of genome DNA (DNA methylation), not inherent genetic (genome) polymorphisms (variants). Epigenetic changes can be elicited by subtle brain insults including viral infection of pregnant mother. This scenario conforms to the so-called “neurodevelopmental hypothesis of schizophrenia genesis”, and our work deciphered one of concrete entities (mechanisms) underlying this hypothesis.
Our study provides a quite novel paradigm for schizophrenia pathophysiology, and is hoped to provide a new principle for drug design.
MedicalResearch.com: What should readers take away from your report?
Response: Development of inhibitors of H2S-producing enzymes could be a boon for schizophrenia patients, in particular those who are not satisfied with current drugs.
MedicalResearch.com: What recommendations do you have for future research as a result of this work?
Response: We call the hyper production state of H2S as “sulfide stress”.By further delineating the precise mechanisms for “sulfide stress”,
for example identifying the proteins that are susceptible to “sulfide stress”, we could know additional druggable targets for schizophrenia.
MedicalResearch.com: Is there anything else you would like to add?
Response: Schizophrenia is thought to be etiologically heterogeneous.
Examination of MPST (a H2S synthesizing enzyme) expression in hair follicle cells could identify the subgroup of schizophrenia
suffering from “sulfide stress”, or stratify schizophrenia. We need just around 10 hairs, and such collection should be noninvasive.
This could lead to precision medicine of schizophrenia.
Thank you very much again for your interest in our work.
