Sorry this isn't an RP, I just had a thought and had to write it down and I wasn't sure where else to do it haha. This is a quick drabble about 'the weekly boss' in the Golden House, separating him from Childe as a character. It's stupid and sorta abstract, but if you wanna pass 5 minutes, here you go!

Every week you come to a house made of gold.

Every week. Without fail. The same day, the same time. I could count down to the very second of your arrival. Between these minutes, these hours and days without you, I counted each coin that scatters the floor, I could blindly trace each divot and line that makes up the art of the ceiling and walls.

There are no windows, the only clue to the changes of the day are the footsteps outside, the guards swapping places or complaining about their duties- their long trivial waits until the sun rises or falls and they return to a place of warmth, of home, of family.

I had a family, I think. I had an idea of what a home might look like. I'm not sure I can even translate the word into my native tongue anymore. In fact, I think I may have forgotten my own language all together. How much time would have to pass for that to happen? To have drowned yourself in a vat of someone else's design? Who's life am I leading?

The same, if not similar, thoughts occur every day. I no longer have the ability to answer them. The questions, an unanswered song that echoes off the walls of this chamber.

And then you arrive.

Every week. Without fail. That is to say, you always manage to best me. Somehow, I don't mind the defeat. Somehow, it feels like that might be what I was made for. Somehow, it feels like I've lost something in allowing that thought in.

Every week. You may bring new faces. People who I've never seen, speaking in a dialect I've never heard. Some times it's not you, but you are there. Because you come every week, without fail.

The pattern is the same, yet I can't seem to learn from my mistakes where you do. I am something. I become more of that something. Then I become something else all together.

A creature I cant remember the name of dances across the handmade marble below, it falls into the sky and soars in to the floor. It's terrifying, but you're not scared. Even if I whittle you down to fewer and fewer, you are never scared. You never hesitate. I suppose you cant afford to.

Those moments are brief. Playing this part I was designed for, the minutes of your life I am meant to part take in - nothing more, but could be less. So I never take them for granted.

And then you win. And then it's over. And then you leave. Triumphant. A warrior from the stars.

I am left with the lasting imprint of the memory of your back. I do my best to forget your face, so I have something to look forward to.

And though as proud as I sound during the height of the fray and the power I unleash as the water I command is laced in our blood- a fearful thought controls my every motion; Will this be the last time?

You didn't come this week. I gave you the grace of a minute, of an hour or so. But you never came. You poured concrete into my worries and fixed them in place with your absence.

But what else can I do? I will count every coin, trace every line, continue to forget my tongue as I listen to the faceless voices and the songs of my queries.

I am waiting for you at the Golden House.

Hooo I get so anxious thinking about how this story is going to end

Like, the whole point of the first game is that the tagline is actually true, right? There IS no escape, Zag cannot permanently leave the underworld so all he can do is make the most of things the way they are, turn it into a home that he doesn’t feel like he has to escape from. The cycle doesn’t end, it just changes (Zag and Hades’ relationship loses its genuine antagonism and kinda just turns into a weird routine where they get to vent their frustrations at each other while trying to be more cordial back at home)

The thing is I have no idea how they make an ending like that work with the stakes as high as they are now, with a villain as pure evil as Chronos, but at the same time, the whole tagline of the game this time around is “Time cannot be stopped”, right? I can hardly imagine SUPERGIANT being like “Congratulations!! You did it! The Dissolution of Time ritual worked and Chronos is dead forever now, also that entire leg of the game is now inaccessible because the final boss is gone and the storyline is resolved!”

Yes!!! I am always thinking of him. orz allow me to write some scattered thoughts for our beloved shouki no kami.

✧ imagine if the sages were more well-prepared when they were constructing scaramouche. you're the test dummy dottore has manufactured to test shouki no kami's full fighting prowess. since you've been made to be durable, scaramouche is free to throw you around rather roughly in order to get used to operating the giant robot. at some point, he realizes you're not just a silent doll and that you actually do indeed have a consciousness of your own and can speak freely.

✧ something something au in which you're the dendro archon and shouki no kami defeats the traveler and is going to get rid of you because he sees no reason to keep a useless god such as yourself around, but then he realizes you know what it's like to be alone and trapped; and so maybe it won't be so terrible if you spend eternity locked away in a new cage to keep him company while he rules as the better god. :)

✧ shouki no kami fatally wounds you when he fights you. he had told you to either join him in the new era he shall build or perish fighting. he expected your resistance and disobedience, but he doesn't realize just how much you must hate him to want to defeat him. unfortunately, he's too strong and he realizes that he's hurt you after the dust has settled. he decides to build you anew. after all, being with dottore for so long has taught him a thing or two. and when you wake, you'll be a blank slate, ready to be molded to his liking. he'll sweep this egregious error of his under the rug. out of sight, out of mind. and even though he has you alive and in his arms again, there's always something missing...

✧ you are shouki no kami's handmaiden and he is so in love with you, but he has no idea how to go about it so he's always awkwardly trying to talk to you more. he even opens the robot only for you so that you can see the real him, but most times he stays locked within because he doesn't want you to see him when he becomes flustered. just imagine this really huge, towering robot turning so soft the minute he thinks of you, but then you actually stand before him and he defaults to insults and harsh tones because it's his defense mechanism. they just don't teach gods how to love when you become one! how is he supposed to know anything about romance?! >:(

✧ as for railing thoughts, i'm thinking about the time loops and just imagining shouki no kami using those to get your body more acclimated to his touch so that by the time you realize you're in a loop you'll be ready to truly reciprocate. and if he does anything wrong, he can just start again. and again. and again. and again. so many times that the lines between obsession and love blur and you're swept up in his infatuation.

You know.. Arlecchino actually becoming playable actually raises so many questions.

How is she going to feel in relation to us knowing full well we lead to Signora's death? Does she resent us in any way? To what extent? Or does she accept Rosalyne's fate, what with her having lost the battle with us fair and square.

What's going to happen when we face the Tsarista??? At least with Childe, we know where his allegiance lies. He's loyal to the Tsartista and his home country but considers us a friend nonetheless. Arle?? We have no clue how much she cares about any faction.

Does she know anything about our sister??? Would she even tell us? Her partnership with us SURELY has to be a partnership and nothing more, right?? CERTAINLY that nature of our relationship is going to color every action she makes in her capacity as a playable character... right? Like she's not just going to warm up to us suddenly and become all sentimental and genuinely caring, correct??????

Even outside of the whole "Oh, how are they going to redeem the villain this time?" question (which I'm actually fairly confident they just.. don't need to do for her), a Harbinger - NUMBER 4 OF THE 11 FUCKING FATUI HARBINGERS - canonically coming to the Traveler's aid and joining their party is an astronomical step forward in...

hell, I don't even kNOW what direction.

I just hope they give use relatively concrete answers and don't leave these sentiments floating up in the air, completely unadressed.

(Oh and I can't wait to see what both her debut (event, interlude or otherweise) quest and story quest are gonna be about.)

claymore!chuuya is such an interesting concept to me solely bc of his beta design ik he wouldn’t be lugging it around like a traditional claymore i think he’d utilize it more like kaveh and use gravity manipulation to make it lighter but denser, packing a deadly blow upon impact but still making it wieldable for him—bc bffr his light frame would literally snap in half at the spine if he tried swinging that thing.. he’d dislocate his shoulders 😭😭

Oh man all I can say is HE FOUND IT!!! Our boy!! I dare not get my hopes up too high but in another Hoyo game, Star Rail, they just rereleased a character with an alternate form (Dan Heng and Imbibitor Lunae), and it'd be SO COOL if we got that in Genshin with Legacy, but I cannot bring myself to hope for it yet, gotta know more --
