As catastrophic and disastrous as this, props to them for owning up to it, shutting it down and refunding the money.
They could have tried to brazen it out and say "You knew what you were getting" but they 'fessed up and said "Yeah -- we fucked up"
It's rare you get that these days.

Did anyone ever put together that Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Guy on tiktok (@amauryguichon) could be, like, the same?
I mean in the way that Wonka makes treats, chocolates, and creations that are seemingly unreal and so great and unique that it boosts him to fame
And we already see the crazy ass (cool) things that The Chocolate Guy creates
Does anyone else get it? 👀

since wonka is on digital now that means i can FINALLY post the sweet tooth clip (would've earlier but there were only cam recordings and those are not too good)
(also i hope its not just me noticing this but mat's voice is exceptionally clearer here than it is on the official soundtrack. not complaining though ofc)

The problem with having the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory prequel portray Willy Wonka as some kind of visionary underdog who the Big Mean chocolatiers are trying to suppress is that… he has magical powers.
Like, there is literally no universe where it matters that this guy can't get a shop, or isn't part of the Chocolate Makers Guild, or is targeted by the Chocolate Cartel, because he has magical powers.
It doesn't matter what the other chocolate makers do to try and smear his reputation or ruin his business, because ultimately their biggest innovation is a chocolate bar that melts in your mouth but not in your hand, and the original Roald Dahl sequel book tells us that Wonka somehow has access to the world where people's souls go before they are born (à la the Pixar film) and has invented a cure for old age.
Even if they did somehow manage to stop him selling ‘candy’, he could easily just rebrand his business and reopen as ‘Wonka's Literal Actual Magic’, and what the hell are they going to do to him then?
The only thing that could touch him in the original film was people bribing his employees to sell them his secret recipes, and he solved that problem almost immediately by firing his entire staff and replacing them with magic singing elves who are happy to be paid in chocolate. This isn't a guy whose problems are normal problems.
This is like if somebody made a new Lord of the Rings prequel that showed Young Sauron being picked on by the Hobbit Craftsmen's Guild because of his innovative ahead-of-their-time jewellery designs. Like it just doesn't work, because while the pieces are technically there for the standard Underdog Shows Them All story template, ultimately the two sides are playing very different ball games here.

Since AI generated characters are copyright free, I propose every fan of Wonka and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to include the Unknown in their fanon, include him like a secret character, take him for a new addition into the lore and do whatever headcanon you want with him

Just saw Wonka with my sister and youngest Nephew, it was a good movie. Weirdly, Chalomet has the energy that feels like he’ll soon be the level of Wilder. Also, it feels like the first of a trilogy rather than something stand alone. Maybe it’s going to take the second movie to put Chalomet’s Wonka in the place he needs to be when the third movie comes.

Hey, since I've been hyperfixated on and off on Willy Wonka for years now, and maybe there's a bigger crowd now for this character, here are some headcanons (and maybe some kinda canon stuff) I wrote down a while back !!! (I'm very normal about him, I swear. Also I like to add bits of myself to my fave characters so if it's cringe then so be it.)
Spends way too much time in the Wonkavator, nyooming around the factory whenever he has free time
Took a long break from candy making - Learnt a bunch of languages, probably made one or two up too - Learnt a bunch of different instruments - He just likes to learn new stuff all the time, give him any fun facts and he'll stare at you like the autism creature
Starved from any sort of human interaction, please someone hold him
Allergic to dogs
On a similar note: invented chocolate that dogs can eat - Has yet to figure out a way to make the chocolate make the dogs hypoallergenic - I think it would be funny to say that his favourite dogs are chocolate labs
Asexual and maybe a little gay, who knows
And autistic - C'mon man, look at him.
Type of guy to never chew on chocolate, he lets it melt in his mouth
Misophonia haver
Incredibly naïve when he was younger, immense trust issues when he’s older - That candy making career sure broke a man !!!

Well, I got to see Wonka tonight. As an eternal Gene Wilder fan, since his Willy Wonka is what I remember as a child, I have to say this version was pure magic.
Well done, Timmy.

Some characters really emphatically do not need a Backstory™ and Willy Wonka is the absolute embodiment of such a character.

I recently watched The Portable Door and I think it could appeal to anyone that loves the whimsical and wacky everyday fantasy of Nevermoor! It’s definitely more grounded in reality, but entertaining enough nonetheless. It’s about these two interns at a weird magical company that get involved in a sinister scheme. To put it in Nevermoor terms… it’s sort of like if C&D was run out of the Deucalion, which is run by Baz Charlton? Also Christoph Waltz plays a villain in a very Squall-like manner. I’m a sucker for whimsical fantasy movies, so if you are too, maybe give it a try.
