Cousin Shinsou and Izuku shenanigans in Snipe’s little Cowgirl: (Reminder/information: Izuku is a trans girl in this AU)
-Shinsou totally has the ability to mimic voices right? So he can do accents.
County!Shinsou in Snipe’s Little Cowgirl picks up the ability to do a southern accent and goes: this is me now. And refuses to speak English without it. He then taught Izuku how to do it so she does the same.
-Izuku learns to dance and Hitoshi gets dragged into it cause he’s tall and can move. He proceeds to drag her into going hunting through the streets to look for stray cats in revenge. (Neither actually mind)
-when they met, Bethany (Snipe’s cousin) hadn’t married Dr. Shinsou (he needs a name but I don’t know what I want to use so I will take suggestions or scroll through fanfics to find one) and Izuku didn’t have her egg cracked yet. So these two kids who got heavily bullied are just side eyeing the fuck out of each other and being nervous as fuck. At least until Izuku talks about Eraserhead and Hitoshi goes !!!. Besties after.
-They don’t go to the same school but through Izuku going to Mustapha Private they meet Kirishima and Ashido. I am seriously thinking Hitoshi gains crushes on both for funsies.
-Izuku and Hitoshi have in fact pranked all of UA one time when Snipe had them there while he was doing teacher stuff. Nezu and Aizawa included.
-Hitoshi HATED Inasa when Izuku dated him but tried to be supportive. When the bullshit happened, Hitoshi actually did threaten him.
-I feel like someone tried to blackmail Hitoshi into dating them but Izuku out of NOWHERE would just slam down so much evidence of their bullshit.
-Oh wait. Wait.
These two are the ONLY LGBTQ+ members of the family so far. Everyone else (except maybe Mabel) is straight as fuck. This also means though that the family will go rabid for them.
-Bethany once tried to murder someone who commented about Hitoshi liking boys. With her heel. It was at a gala she went to with Snipe and the kids cause heroes and she was going to throw down with a minor hero.
-I feel like Hitoshi isn’t friends with Yaoyorozu or Iida but he is with Todoroki.
-Yeah that’s what we’re doing. Izuku got the two nerds and Hitoshi got his fellow emo/silent type.
-Todoroki still has his issues though. So does Hitoshi actually cause fuck it I can.
-It’s just when your Quirkless cousin gets into UA and you don’t you get a wake up call you need to buff up and work out.
-Izuku lords it over him for months. (I headcanon there are hero universities for kids who didn’t go to hero high school so she thought he’d go there if he didn’t get in through the sports festival)
-Not that… okay so, Hitoshi didn’t think it would be robots and while he isn’t Quirkist he did think he and Izuku were on the same level for UA. But they weren’t cause Izuku worked her ass off. She didn’t do recommendations cause the ‘favouritism’ issue, but still got in. Hitoshi didn’t. So it’s something he’s got to admit.
-… also now actually it would be fun to explore his assumption Izuku has to work twice as hard as him to be on his level. It’s subtle but it’s a micro aggression I think would be common.
And like I love Hitoshi I do. I also think he’s a dick in the beginning and it’s not to far out he would think that. He’s not Quirkist in the sense ‘Quirkless is useless’ but he does have some thoughts about how Izuku will always be working harder and shit.
Which isn’t wrong. But… *waves hand* yeah.
-So it’s a wake up call when she gets in but he doesn’t and like yeeeeeeeeaaaaaah.
-Shit I should also include Brandon and Jeff in this cause they’re cousins to.
-I wrote half this on night shift but anyways: Brandon is Izuku and Hitoshi’s age and he’s the cousin on the other side of the world randomly texting them shit like: hey so I miiiiight have lit my homophobic teacher’s house on fire. Jeff is like two years younger and he’s an actual legit genius who called dibs about designing their gear.
-All four are chaos. Then when Mandalay marries Snipe Kouta is added and they’re even WORSE.
-CHAOS COUSINS

Starbomb: Starbomb
Eeeeeyup.
So, to ruin my credibility even further...yes, I am a Game Grumps fan. I started watching them out of curiosity in 2016 and watched them on and off for a while until I fell in the trap of those damn Sleeping Aids videos uploaded by their fans and I've been watching them semi-regularly since.
Are they perfect? Fuck no. They suck at games and Egoraptor is the bad Mike Tyson simile of previously problematic content creators. But you already know I'm a NSP fan and I like Danny's singing voice and some of Egoraptor's raps (have fun finding the ones without the n-word!) are pretty skilled and he has a genuine love for the genre and, somewhat more importantly, those games he's bad at. So there, my justification for being a Starbomb fan...despite the fact I've uploaded Starbomb songs before so this really shouldn't have come as a surprise to anyone. Since the album was uploaded for free, I'm going to upload the whole thing below so feel free to read after every song so that everyone can know how to feel after every song. Now...COMMENCE THE CRINGE!
youtube
Intro
God, this whole thing is nostalgic. The guys introduce themselves and Arin does a rather impressive paraphrasing of a Fair Use segment that shows that 1. since this album is a parody and 2. they acknowledge they don't own the characters, they don't technically need to be sued. as of January 12, 2024, Nintendo and others apparently agreed.
Song Score: 7/10
2. I Choose You To Die
This is the gate: if this song turns you off, you're probably going to hate this album. Starbomb doesn't care about canon, your feelings or even making clever jokes about the franchise: they thought it would be funny if there was a story about Ash going around fucking up Pokemon, going to jail, getting bailed out and shot in the sack by Pikachu. Is it funny? By my standards...meh. It didn't really grab me. My own description of the song is honestly funnier to me than the actual song itself. I don't hate it but it's definitely not how I would introduce someone to the band.
Song Score: 5/10
3. Luigi's Ballad
Here we go, the real shit: with special guest vocalist Rachel Goddamn Bloom (Crazy Ex Girlfriend creator and star), we get crassed up versions of Mario, Luigi and Peach as the brothers fight over her in a hilarious ditty. Arin is having fun, Danny is competent and Rachel is perfect, like always...I'm actually glad that Peach didn't pick a brother at the end because, as douchey as Mario was being, Luigi didn't give an actual reason for being attracted to her. Maybe he was just as shallow as Mario only he was more devious about it? Who cares? Peach is going to fuck a mushroom.
Song Score: 9/10
4. It's Dangerous To Go Alone
A bit darker but still a well-done song (Philly shout-out! Woo! We suck less than Raccoon City!). They gave Danny the lead in this and it works, Arin's freak-out at the end as Link is legitimately chortle-inducing. Chortle-inducing I say. Sexual predation has never been (subjectively) funnier.
Song Score: 9/10
5. Mega Martial Problems
Might be my favorite song on the album. Mega Man and his wife (Roll? Some chick? Who cares?) are being given marriage counseling (sex counseling, actually) by Dr. fucking Wily and Mega Man kills robot masters to get toys to fuck his wife with, ending with Zero being killed by his Mega Dick. Arin is a good rapper and Danny manages to sing distinctly as a german doctor and Mega Man's wife (he raps a bit at the end...it's actually listenable). Seriously, if you're not the biggest Mega Man fan and if canon isn't important to you, go check this song out.
Song Score: 10/10
6. Rap Battle: Ryu Vs. Ken
Hur hur, Ryu rules, Ken sucks, hur hur. That doesn't bother me though. What does bother me is the content of Ryu's lyrics: he's supposed to be talking about how badass he is and he keeps going on about his dick? Forget canon character, if he was just some nobody he would sound like he's eight years old! Once you hear it, you won't unhear it. It's just a bit...desperate? And I can't help but feel like I'm supposed to take him seriously. This song is fine for the most part but...yeah, definitely one of the weaker ones on re-listens.
Song Score: 6/10
7. Crasher-vania
Pretty funny song about Simon Belmont committing hate crimes against the creatures of the night having a Monster Mash. Fun fact: I don't know the story behind this but Arin and Danny did a censored version of this song for a MST3K telethon. See it here:
youtube
Song Score: 8/10
8. The Book of Nook
On a re-listen, this is a competently hilariously fucked up song about Tom Nook being a dickhead mafia landlord...but I'm detracting a whole point for the use of the archaic slur "mongoloid". I guess they didn't want to use "retard" and tried to be smart about it. Sorry guys; try harder.
Song Score: 8/10 (I still gave it a high score so maybe I'm part of the problem.)
9. Sonic's Best Pal
Probably my other favorite song on the album. The perfect Sonic darkfic: Tails snaps due to his insecurity (Hey! A canonical character flaw; I'll wave as I see it fly by.), gets on drugs, fucks whores and shoots Eggman. They knew what they were going for and they got it. Kudos, Starbomb.
Song Score: 10/10
10. Regretroid
Emily Hughes (pretty neat singer and apparently a friend of Danny's...I don't know) stars as an understandably grumpy Samus against the Nice Guy (TM) Kraid in this epic star tale. Awesome tune with a hilariously dark ending (I mean...it's not like the puppies were destined for a good life if space dragons were just handing them out in baskets.)
Song Score: 8/10
11. Kirby's Adventures In Reamland
Either this or the Tom Nook song was the first song recorded for the album and, unlike Tom Nook's song, Starbomb hates this one. Me? Another "meh"....it's crass for the sake of crass but the guys are doing that the whole album so I'm not really affected by it. They spitroast Kirby and namedrop Meta Knight and Dedede. That's it. Move along, barely anything to see here.
Song Score: 7/10
12. The Simple Plot of Final Fantasy 7
Ha! Take THAT, convoluted JRPGs! Seriously, this is one of the better songs on the album and I love how they try to turn Cloud into this smooth talking self-aggrandizing asshole (not a far cry from him in canon, mind) and how they didn't call Ryu by name. He's Ninja Gaiden now. Perfect way to end the album.
Song Score: 9/10
13. Outro
Just the guys being dorks and teasing the second album (Player Select; won't be reviewing that one so I'll spoil my opinion for you: it's not as good as the first one.). It was always fun to hear them fuck around. Reminds me a bit of their Sleep Aids.
Song Score 8/10
Album Score: 8/10
Decent album. As we all know, I have shit taste so that makes my opinion superior to yours. Since this was an album review, I'll be taking a week off to unwind and come back next Friday with the typical song a day schedule. See you then.

Also also for the ask game The rest of the hackers + Izuchi n Sagara + Nanase!!
time to run away from ur ask box again just to show up again later
ding dong ditching via askbox real /j
YIPPE! WOO!
Sagara:
favorite thing about them- BEST GIRL???? I'M SO ILL ABOUT HER???? she's so silly......... I think there's something in her casual edginess and how she dresses in frills and likes cake and just how chill she is about it all. Love that she threatens Nanashi 0.3 seconds after meeting him. I like her general demeanor. Or how much she talks herself up in spite of how pathetic she is. She's a fun character and just everything about her appeals to me specifically, I can and will read to deep into her character sheet calling her jaded.
least favorite thing about them- Her saying Sagara was her temp name was the perfect setup for her to eventually reveal a chuuni alias and I'm so bitter that they didn't do that.
favorite line- "Heehee... Then Nanashi, you will have to perform the official pact rite!" (What's the pact rite?) "You must help with this lunchtime cake set that's being sold starting today!" (T-that's the rite?) "I have a quota to meet this month, see..."
brOTP- Nanashi!! Their friendship and interactions are so great to me. I also really like the idea of her befriending Yukinaga. Weirdboy-to-Weirdgirl communication(for both friendships tbh).
OTP- IZUCHI AUGH I M SO OBSESSED WITH THEM. They're very different but hear me out. They have a funny dynamic. Menaces to society and also each other. I do actually think there is potential for them to contrast and complement each other in interesting ways though. I appreciate that their one interaction establishes that she visits him regularly just to mess with him, and how he's probably just used to her atp. I think they could be schemers together.
nOTP- eh.
random headcanon- Her chicken avatar is based on a childhood pet, she starts keeping chickens again sometime in the future. Also timeskip Sagara wears crocs.
unpopular opinion- I've only seen this like twice but I disagree with any portrayal of Izsg that involves her pestering him because she has a crush because I think it's infinitely funnier if she's just Like That(and maybe the local asshole is one of the few peoples she has that's close to an actual friend but it's not a crush. at the moment).
song i associate with them- Egorock
favorite picture of them- From her VA's twitter
Tumblr media
Izuchi:
favorite thing about them- Smartass. I love him dearly. Self aggrandizing mad scientist with the brains to back it up, who just does whatever he wants without regard to what other people think and goes about it with a cool and collected(/albeit arrogant) air. How he's not really on either side but just gives the time of day to whatever benefits him/his research, yet is still patient enough to explain things and hear out other perspectives. Who maybe does have a nice side but it's overlayed by 50 layers of conceit.
least favorite thing about them- I want him to face tangible consequence for what he did to the Potetes.
favorite line- "...What is it, whelp? Do you love my greatness? Well, I must apologize... I already adore myself far more than you do.", why is he like this I'm sobbign
brOTP- Nanashi, mad scientist-guinea pig duo ever. I think his relationship with Kirai is interesting too.
OTP- SAGARA. Look I think it's so real of her to be canonically able to knock him on his ass in like 1 minute flat. I have full reason to believe this happens regularly simply because of how easily she does it here, and the only reason it doesn't escalate is because Nanase drags her away. Izuchi is a voice of reason to her out-there way of thinking and general immaturity and Sagara not only doesn't take his shit but is fully capable of smashing through his ego.
nOTP- I can see how Izuchi/Saaya would be interesting but it just isn't for me idk.
random headcanon- Keeps and labels seashell displays. It's some of the only actual decor his room has. Also is a relatively decent cook.
unpopular opinion- The fandom doesn't bully him enough like actually. Look at this guy.
song i associate with them- What The World Needs, this was so hard I have too many.
favorite picture of them-
Tumblr media
Kirai:
favorite thing about them- He's such an unapologetic turd but also weirdly competent for a 10 year old. I like how he spends his entire friend event complaining then just gives Nanashi trash as a gift. That's so mean. I feel like he veers more into being just an outright asshole vs Nomare or the twins being kind of clowns about it, but I love that for him honestly.
least favorite thing about them- leave the old man alone bro(who isn't even an old man he's 34 but Kirai's 10 so I see how it'd seem that way to him)
favorite line- "Yeah, yeah. Let's slaughterize 'em all."
brOTP- The hackers but I think Kotora being his babysitter is funny. Sorry for the constant torment dude(it's entertaining.)
OTP- N/A
nOTP- N/A
random headcanon- Makes a fuss about how he's eventually going to get a growth spurt and how That'll Show You All but stays short into adulthood. Never hears the end of it.
unpopular opinion- I feel like Izuchi's personality gets conflated with his sometimes which I get but. You know(will not elaborate(this isn't directed at anything you said in your answer btw just to be clear, you're good)).
song i associate with them- Oh No!
favorite picture of them-
Tumblr media
Mikado:
favorite thing about them- Great antagonist. Very good parallels to Nanashi(for obvious reasons), with this being how he would've turned out if he stayed the way he was at the start of the game, down to his ultimate goal being a warped version of Nanashi's initial wish of World Peace. His attempt to start a team only to have them all hate and betray him in contrast to people being weirded out by Nanase before eventually warming up to him for him is neat.
least favorite thing about them- How do you just pretend to be a guy's cousin who he's known all his life and have his family accept that and let him stay with you. Where does Nanase go when he disappears. I can and will draw conjectures but I wish that was elaborated on.
favorite line- "Had it not been "me," there was no way I would have offered you hot cocoa in the dead of summer as if it were a reward." On levels of passive aggression incomprehensible to mere mortals.
brOTP- Nanashi and Misane!
OTP- N/A
nOTP- Nanashi ew
random headcanon- Would try to hold hacker Game Nights to build rapport and cooperation, you can imagine how well that went.
unpopular opinion- Not exactly Mikado himself but never forget that Nanashi is canonically capable of becoming a fucked up guy given the right circumstances. As in "can and will commit so many crimes against humanity" fucked up.
song i associate with them- Technocrat, I probably Do have better songs for him but I just want to raise this in the vein of him trying to pitch the master program to the higher ups and doing it in a really backhanded concerning way(although it gets passed anyways so.)
favorite picture of them-
Tumblr media
Kotora:
favorite thing about them- Only Sane Man of the hackers but is so spineless that it doesn't even matter. He gets bullied by a 10 year old, guys. Hge's so tired guys give him a break. I enjoy the potential thread of him being so stressed and tired that he turned to crime despite not usually being that type. I like the moment in his friend event where Rocca breaks a plate(?) and he's more concerned about her safety. Nice fellow.
least favorite thing about them- Who runs the cafe while he's running from the law? Because Rocca is definitely still working there.
favorite line- "Ahaha… I wouldn't say "don't judge a book by its cover," more… "you don't know what a really fatigued guy will do.""
brOTP- The hackers but I like to imagine him and Tobari having regular meetups(tea parties? coffee? Whatever) after the group splinters off to do their own thing. I'd say they could bond over the more mature of the four but I wonder how he'd feel, with him being burnt out(albeit I do think all that trouble would give him a new appreciation for his life, but that doesn't change the fact that the feeling was there) and running a struggling business and her being born rich and choosing to gallivant around because she's a thrillseeker? I think there could be something to explore there.
OTP- N/A
nOTP- N/A
random headcanon- Majored in computer science for a minute in college; Went back to coding when he started feeling stuck in his own life and that's how he managed to have any success with hacking.
unpopular opinion- N/A
song i associate with them- Coffee and Syrup
favorite picture of them- He's kindof pathetic but that's how I like my men
Tumblr media
Nomiya:
favorite thing about them- Hell yeah, go funny loud man.
least favorite thing about them- We have Sho Minamoto at home.
favorite line- "Ya better show me somethin' giga-fun next time!!! If you yotta-bore me again, you're packed!! Zipped! DELEEETEEEEEED!!!!!"
brOTP- The hackers but I like to think of him and Kirai being disasters who cause problems on purpose. I bet they fight all the time.
OTP- I don't always go there but I do see the Nomihiyu vision
nOTP- N/A
random headcanon- After the master program gets re-made he gets brought onto the team to help with code maintenance. He creates viruses and Hiyu figures out how to protect the master program from them.
unpopular opinion- N/A
song i associate with them- AC/DC
favorite picture of them-
Tumblr media
Nanashi:
favorite thing about them- His arc! How he starts the game constantly trashing on himself and through his efforts to befriend the characters, he learns that everyone's a little messed up. He learns to start loving himself and what sets him apart, and that he deserves to be live and love and have friendship through his relationships, because people care for him. How his arc carries into the next game but not in such a way that they just get rid of his peculiarity.
least favorite thing about them- I feel like it does get toned down from Ch.XXX to 1beat but some of his interactions with Misane post-timeskip... yeesh.
favorite line- His whole speech at the end of the first game makes me feel things.
brOTP- Misane big obvi, they're so precious to me. Can a catgirl and a bunnyboy truly solve crimes together.
OTP- I have a few ships I like with him but nothing I'm entirely committed to.
nOTP- Gosh where do I start. Mikado maybe.
random headcanon- Moves in with the Real Aisakas permanently after the game, mostly I just feel bad about the idea of having him move too far away from his friends.
unpopular opinion- Okay for how much people like to rag on his post-timeskip behavior lbr even some of his comments toward other characters throughout the first game were kind of. weird(derogatory). Also maybe not shipping him with Misane is an unpopular opinion but the fandom seems to have fallen off that boat anyways.
song i associate with them- Saying the 1bit ed might be too obvious so. uh. Be A Friend. Also Self-Inflicted Achromatic for a more angsty(normal end) angle
favorite picture of them-

[fic] you made a rebel of a careless man’s careful daughter
Tumblr media
fandom: extraordinary attorney woo
pairings: youngwoo/junho
tags: Post-Canon, Character Study, Family Dynamics, One Shot, gwang ho is gonna have to work a little if he wants to meet his daughters bf, woohoo are living their best life post canon as they should
summary: Gwang Ho had just failed to think that Youngwoo would break the rules she insisted on to text that guy was now, apparently, Youngwoo’s boyfriend. He didn’t know when or how that happened. All he knew is that he overheard Youngwoo call that punk jagiya one day on the phone. Took them long enough! The longer they Hollywood American Styled things the brighter shade of red Gwang Ho saw every time he saw Youngwoo walk into the door with a grin on her face. That didn’t mean he approved of Junho-with-a-mysterious-family-name-that-Youngwoo-refused-to-tell-him. As long as Youngwoo insisted on not bring Junho home, Gwang Ho would continue to make up his own wild scenarios and assumptions about the punk.
++
Gwang Ho tries to extend an olive branch to his daughter and her boyfriend. It would not solve the issue at hand but it was a step in the right direction
preview: Gwang Ho watched Youngwoo lock her phone and slip it back into her bag that was perched in the next seat. She didn’t reply until she had a piece of gimbap pressed to her lips. “Junho-ssi sent me one of those moving picture things. Jiffy? The joke is funnier with visual aid.” Junho-ssi this. Junho-ssi that. Ugh. Gwang Ho preferred the Whale Talk instead. “Well, can you show me? I want to see the visual aid too.”

So I read the junior novelization of BiA and just some thoughts I had…
First of all very interesting to see all the deleted scenes in this book, I know that a lot of BiA media is wildly inconsistent because of late script rewrites (I believe this was the reason but correct me if I’m wrong, I do know however that Joe Dante struggled with retaining his original creative vision).
I really love this one scene that I had never seen or heard before when DJ reminds Daffy that despite his wishes to be a James Bond-like action hero, Daffy’s just a duck while he’s a real man with “opposable thumbs” (weird flex DJ but okay). This prompts Daffy to respond “yeah but can you do this?” hitting himself with a mallet that splits him into tiny daffys who woo-hoo manically and then reform into regular Daffy. Idk just thought that would be visually funny to see animated.
I also LOVE this one silly scene when Daffy sees one of those ridiculous hip-hop t-shirts with him on it and wants to buy it. I feel like that is funnier then the fun but cringey rap scene in space jam 2, and feels more self-aware.
Then there’s these additions the book adds like…“the handsome security guard” like geez I know everyone loves Brendan Fraser but that felt weird to read lol but maybe that’s just me
Also I laughed reading the first lines of the book
Tumblr media
Like someone really loved alliteration omg…but even still it sounds so angsty for freaking looney tunes lmao
I was kinda sad it skimmed over little parts I liked in the movie (i.e. subtle baffy moments). I do like that one deleted scene when Bugs and Daffy are making fun of DJ and Kate about being in love, and they are mocking them together. Idk if actual baffy moment but still cute.
Ugh I forgot how much I hate Kate…she’s painfully unfunny in the movie and even more so here. She quite literally vocalizes her thoughts in the most banal way and has zero subtlety. -10/10 character tbh Idk if that’s purposeful since she is supposed to represent the out-of-touch wb exec and is only concerned with 🤑🤑 but…still.
Oh another scene I forgot is when Kate mentions disparagingly that Daffy’s fan base consists of “fat guys in basements” I literally thought of Ferris Wheelhouse—I’m so sorry 😅. I also appreciate the little anecdote that Daffy is still thankful for his small fanbase when he makes sure that Kate counted “Henry too” (I think that was the guys name) I somehow found that actually kind of sweet.
I also thought this line was SUPER interesting and perhaps a tad bit insightful
Tumblr media
First of all “trying to sound sincere” for his sake? For Daffy’s sake? Maybe Bugs is so known for his sarcasm that his sincerity is still taken as being ingenuine. If so that’s REALLY interesting to me. Also the fact he practiced that speech? 👀👀 Does this means Bugs typically rehearses everything he says? Kind of like what people with social anxiety do? Has he built up such a image for himself that he feels he has to keep up with that image? OR is this just because admitting he needs Daffy is a hard thing for him to say? Does his pride disallow him from encouraging Daffy so he needs to literally practice saying “I need you” when push comes to shove? Aaah anyway this was really cool to see. Also Daffy not buying it for a minute is also telling. 👀👀
Continuing on that thought, wouldn’t it be really sad if Bugs and Daffy couldn’t grow in their relationship with each other because of this very reason? Bugs could deep down really care about Daffy (which tbh in canon I really think he does) but Daffy will never realize this because of the walls he’s built to protect himself from being mocked or tricked by Bugs. LIKE AAAAHHH
tl;dr Interesting and cool read but it was just okay overall

marichat needs to happen okay
hear me out, I'm going to try and articulate my thoughts on marinette x chat noir on this post and I highlight key differences between our lovely character
Marichat is the other aspect of each other that they don't have feelings for and haven't completely known yet. Marinette/Ladybug likes Adrien, Adrien/Chat Noir likes Ladybug. Ladybug and Adrien like each other. In the other three ships, there are feelings involved, and we see how those feelings hold them back from fully being themselves. Meanwhile, whenever Marinette and Chat Noir interact, they share playful banter as well as meaningful moments like the Balcony Scene™. Marinette isn't commanding towards Chat Noir as her civillian self. Meanwhile, Chat is able to show a bit from his sensitive side to her, something he struggles to do as both Chat Noir and Adrien.
I don't like the idea of Adrien falling in love with Marinette because she's Ladybug and Ladybug falling in love with Chat because he's Adrien. They need to be able to accept the other sides of each other. Something Marichat offers that the rest of the ships don't are slowburn feelings that are built on growing understanding and respect for each other. I mean, let's be real, Adrien's crush on Ladybug and Marinette's crush on Adrien happened instantly (not love at first sight, but they still happened pretty quickly).
Individual character growth! Marinette falling for Chat Noir means she'll finally see his worth, more than just her crime fighting partner and more than just in the battle. She seems to forget or not think much about how he has a life outside of being a superhero. Since Chat/Adrien is growing distant from Ladybug, he might lean more onto his friendship with Marinette, who he knows would never let him down. Meanwhile, Chat Noir/Adrien would finally start opening up about himself, how lonely he feels, and how he just wants to feel like he matters. We all know Adrien uses Chat Noir as an escape from his daily life. He thinks it's the real him. If he sees that Marinette understands and sees what he perceives as his "true self", he'll be touched.
Side note on the "true self" thing: I don't think Chat Noir is "the real Adrien", but simply a side of him, a version of him who doesn't care about rules, authority, and does things at his own will. However, it is when he is Chat Noir that he feels most happy, because he has the freedom AND Ladybug is technically his best friend. But that doesn't mean who he is as Adrien is less real than who he is as Chat Noir. In fact, we slowly see him integrating his double life's personality (flirting, teasing, being a jokester) into his civillian life in later seasons.
Adrienette and Ladrien are stuck in the one-sided infatuation phase. Sure, Adrien and Marinette say they're friends, but a lot of their screentime together involves Marinette tripping over her words–sometimes literally tripping–and Adrien getting mixed signals. They do have times where they hang out and start to get comfortable around each other, but they still have a long way to go. Ladrien? I've yet to see them interact outside of fight scenarios (at least Marichat had the quiet Balcony Scene™...before it got interrupted by a new akuma)
Ladynoir, on the other hand, has Chat Noir at first being infatuated with Ladybug. Because they spend so much time together as a crime-fighting duo as well as Paris' superheroes patrol, I believe he's developed far deeper feelings than when he first met her.
In "Desperada", Marinette/Ladybug has double standards when it comes to Chat Noir vs. Adrien making a lame joke and his confusion in whether or not he should be offended or flattered makes it 100x funnier It's mentioned once in an episode which name I forgot that Ladybug does like Chat Noir's jokes, but she just reacts to it in her usual eyeroll because she's...Ladybug.
When Marinette is Ladybug, her personality doesn't change as drastically as Chat Noir's, but she's clearly less of a klutz, it's how she learns to be more confident and stand up for herself. However, she's also much more sarcastic, bossy, and serious, in contrast to Chat's easygoing attitude (except when it's his loved ones are at stake). As Marinette, she's sweeter and softer with the occasional jokes.
Miscommunication is such a prevalent theme in the show that it might as well be the title. Miscommunication: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir. See? It fits! The problem here is that there is miscommunication both internally and externally with these two characters. They're having a hard time reconciling their identities AND openly talking about things to each other. The first time we actually see them talk about sensitive personal matters to each other is the fabled Balcony Scene™. Ladybug and Chat Noir may be close partners, but it's clear she doesn't want to discuss her civillian life with him (as Ladybug, anyway) in order to keep their identities secret (and with her knowledge of Chat Blanc, it's not surprising). Which leads me to...
The Balcony Scene™ and take a shot each time I mentioned this. I love how in contrast that scene is with the rest of the show. There's no action sequences, it's nighttime, it's quiet, and it's a slow moment for our characters. Chat Noir isn't acting like his goofy self, but is openly acknowledging his serious feelings for Ladybug and that he's hurt that she didn't show up. Seeing this side of him lets Marinette understand that all the flirtations were him being serious. However, since she's not Ladybug, there's nothing holding her back from sharing a part of her personal life with him. She already trusts Chat Noir. They lament their respective heartbreaks, and Chat gets an idea to bring her to the place to cheer her up. Not because he liked her, but because he genuinely wanted her to be happy. Chat/Adrien clearly values Marinette as a friend, and he even goes out of his way in "Puppeteer 2" to make her feel at ease around him. Taking Marinette to the rooftop with the candles and roses to cheer her up rather than woo her was a very sweet and rare gesture from him. It was a moment of vulnerability from both sides. AND THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT THESE TWO NEED TO SEE FROM EACH OTHER
The difference between Chat and Ladybug as heroes is that Chat always protects the people first. Ladybug is more focused on solving the problem. Chat puts himself at the civillians' level and takes time to make them feel alright or safe. Even as civillians they exhibit this trait; in "Guiltrip", Marinette sees the problem and immediately tries to find a solution. She thinks of the bigger picture and acts to prevent the worst. Adrien, on the other hand, takes time to approach Juleka and ask her what's wrong, taking time to make her feel comfortable enough to share her problem. Chat Noir being a superhero is just a mantle; he's just your everyday guy who just happens to have superpowers. Ladybug has to be Marinette to even display the same kind of vulnerability she showed to Chat Noir in "Glaciator", because as Ladybug she's too fixated on saving Paris and keeping her identity a secret
Marichat would mean the start of the reverse love square. Marinette either has to start being less fumbly around Adrien or move on. Think about it: Marinette starts to have feelings for Chat Noir, so she's once again conflicted. But if she starts to maybe move on, she'd be less insecure around Adrien and they'd finally share scenes where they talk longer than 1 minute. This will then prompt Adrien to knowing who Marinette really is and notice even more qualities in her that she shares with Ladybug (wEll), qualities he likes and appreciates. So now, Adrien is falling for Marinette and she is falling for Chat Noir, but THIS time, the foundation of their feelings are FRIENDSHIP, UNDERSTANDING, RESPECT AND APPRECIATION rather than infatuation.
that might make The Reveal™ a bit angsty as well, since Adrien/Chat leaning closer to Marinette means sort of distancing himself from Ladybug. At least from Marinette's side, it wouldn't be as shocking. She'd be mortified that she'd been fighting crime with Adrien all along, yes, but it doesn't come with the weight of realizing the person who you thought would never let you down is the same person who pushed you aside in favor of a new partner. The fact that Adrien counts Chat Noir as his true self and lowkey considers those who like him as "Adrien" are shallow (okay this isn't canon but his life as Adrien is basically exploited as a brand which is why he thinks people only like him for being famous) doesn't help. But hey, I'm sure the writers won't mess this potential up. Right? Right?

dora and the lost city of gold: a review
this was... not what i had hoped. i LOVED dora as a kid - i had dora pjs, a dora throw blanket, a TON of toys... i even found TWO dora necklaces in my childhood jewelry box and wore one as a bracelet to the theater (bc the chains were kid-sized, therefore too small for my adult neck). i SO wanted for this movie to be good, and it kinda... wasn't.
okay, the first, like, half hour/40 mins or so were excellent. the opening with kid dora and diego was one of my favorite parts. i had said beforehand whenever i saw it in the tv spots that i could have a whole movie of just that, them as kids with their imaginary adventures. an authentic live-action dora.
i didn't mind the jump in age and the high school thing either. the gag of dora learning what high school and socializing with kids her age is like was great, and it even hit hard when diego wanted nothing to do with her. again, would have taken a whole movie of that too.
it's when we got to the jungle stuff that i started... questioning things. monkeys can't talk but mercenaries were working with a talking anthropomorphic fox who wears a mask? yeah, that was a bit far-fetched. though, side note: i LOVED swiper, from his lines to his design - all of it. he was just such a side character in the movie. i expected him to be the main villain but considering dora didn't really know him going into this movie... i guess they're setting up for a sequel where he is the big bad? (but do i actually want more of this? i don't know.)
obviously i won't go and give a full plot summary now, i'll just go into the good and the bad. the other students, sammy and randy, were okay. i understand the need for this to not be entirely focused on dora and diego, but when they kinda teased them & alejandro continuing the trek on their own, i almost got excited. but nope, other students came back. woo. and having them be love interests for dora and diego was annoyingly forced. i mean, the randy/dora thing was more one-sided than anything but sammy/diego was dumb and forced and i wasn't here for it. at least bc when sammy met dora, i was like, "let's go lesbians!" they seemed cute together. they fit that "i gave my crush a note that said 'get out of my school'" meme thing.
though, dora and diego's arc kinda reminded me a little alex & justin's in the wizards of waverly place movie??? both had campfire bonding scenes. and if you think i'm implying incest here with that comparison (listen if you didn't lowkey ship jalex with that movie, you're just dumb) then yes, i am. not like i want it in canon, but hey, it's fiction. real world rules and morals and shit don't apply, especially considering all the unrealistic shit that happened in this movie. their relationship had more depth and heart than sammy & diego's forced little... whatever it was. when i got bored halfway through the film, i honestly just felt anxious to start writing fix-it fics for them. and i absolutely plan to. judge me all you want, i don't care. i'm not actually harming anyone.
(which does remind me of one little issue i had - dora's parents didn't seem to recognize diego??? obviously he did get older so yeah, he's not the little boy they looked after, but he even called them "tios" - or "tio y tia", i forget, but "tios" is probably the correct plural for aunt & uncle, considering "padres" = parents - and then there was some joke about dora's dad not really caring what happened to the other THREE kids when they were captured. i was so confused and mad about it that i even whispered to my mom, "he doesn't recognize his own nephew?!" she might not have heard me but OH BOY, did i have a problem with that part.)
the last act was where the movie kinda jumped the shark for me but whatever, i guess it's a fantasy now. woo. oh, i forgot to say before - eugenio durbez was fun! i love him as an actor. the villain twist was pretty predictable (his "i'm a friend of your parents" just screamed STRANGER DANGER), but the funnier scenes with him were good. i wish he was an ally the entire time, and swiper was the big bad. but whatever. like i said, sequel!
also i don't know who the heck this movie is for. the opening & that 2d animated sequence (i loved it so much!!! also served as a good example of what i wanted out of a whole film. REBOOT THE SHOW, NICK! with that newer animation style!) were definitely meant for those of us who grew up with the show, but a lot of the humor was really juvenile. too many poop jokes. they showed the quicksand fart sound gag in a trailer and i thought it was cute, but that Other Scene? it was too long, not funny, and i was kinda concerned for sammy, considering she was interrupted. but then the action makes the movie seem like it's for older kids, so... i was really confused.
i guess like the first descendants, this was kind of a mess and all over the place. but descendants fixed itself (mostly) with its sequels, so maybe dora could do the same, if it makes enough to warrant a sequel or two. (considering it only had like a $49 million budget, i think it should make enough for a sequel? but we'll see.)
as for live-action remakes of beloved cartoon series, i'll stick to kim possible. (where is THAT sequel, disney?!)
7/10.
