i find it funny how ruby's "then you must've forgotten who raised me" is taken as gospel and proof that yang raised ruby alone for several years when it's. preceded by ruby outright lying about the reason why she ended up in the ever after: at no point was ruby planning to jump into the void after yang. they all thought it meant death, and after ruby drank the tea yang didn't try to follow her, either. it feels... absurd to take what ruby is essentially saying—"i would follow you to death because that's how you raised me :)"—as the truth when later it's made clear that yang isn't reciprocating in the same, self-destructive manner.
like. it just makes yang seem super awful?? that she would raise ruby to follow her to death, but she won't do the same in return??? is this really the hill people are willing to die on???
anyway. yang is upset that ruby is there after she tried to save her, and ruby is trying to make yang feel better. that's what the scene is about. much later, when ruby snaps, she says this to yang: "'gotta stay positive!' right?! smiles all around! maybe even get our feelings sorted out!"
ya know. to yang, who makes jokes to hide her fear, her discomfort, her pain.
according to yang, tai "kind of shut down", but we know this doesn't mean that he fell into a depression so deep he couldn't even get out of bed; yang needed to wait for him to be out of house to sneak out—meaning he was attentive of them—, ruby relates to penny for having a dad who worries a lot, he reads them bedtime stories, he was busy with work, ruby's memories have him right there present even after summer's disappearance, etc.
(and that's without mentioning that ice queendom's website description for tai sites him as having raised ruby and yang on his own. or that according to the writers and voice actors alike, yang can't cook.)
everything that we've learned, from V1 to V5 discussion between yang and weiss to V9 points towards the issues of yang and ruby's childhood being emotional. tai didn't literally 'shut down', he just wasn't the same happy, positive person than he was before summer disappeared—and of course he wasn't, he was grieving. and yang took it upon herself to be that person, to 'pick up the pieces', to stay positive and to be smiles all around, making jokes to hide her true feelings, just to bring that little bit of normalcy back to their home.
and ruby followed along. there was no time to sort out feelings, you just had to be happy in the face of great grief. no one in this family really has: tai was focused on raising his daughters (a trait ruby and yang both exhibit: focusing on something else, doing chores or helping others, even when they're not doing do well themselves), he wasn't going to burden them with his issues, and who knows where qrow was doing that time, drowning in his own sorrows; and yang and ruby were busy staying Positive™... until the fall of beacon happened, and yang got to start her journey of sorting her feelings outs. maybe she hasn't quite reached the end of that journey, but she's well on her way. ruby isn't, tho, hence her words to yang when she snapped: it feels unfair, that they've been in the same spot for so long and now yang is moving forward but ruby can't. doesn't feel she's allowed to.
and i feel like V9 perfectly showcased how it was in their childhood even if they were asked "are you okay?": avoid the question, pretend you're okay, happy, smiling, whatever. there's only so much one can do to force the issue if the other person is avoiding it altogether.
anyway. they're finally getting out of the cycle of toxic positivity. the wound is now healing.
can't wait for summer to appear to open a new one.

Is Yang a people pleaser?
I think it's bit more complicated than just that.
I think it's the only way she knows how to function.
Even going by just what has been said in the first three volumes (because everything after makes her VERY inconsistent and messy in terms of characterization), there are five things we know about Yang:
She lost her mother figure at a young age.
Her dad shut down in depression from what happened.
She was left with her little sister to essentially take care of themselves(and to be each other's emotional support) for indeterminate period of time.
At some point in time Yang found out that her mother figure is not her biological mother, which, for a child, threw lot of her life and interactions into question, shaking the foundations of who she saw herself as.
At some point her need to find her mother has put her sister in danger (the cabin incident), which essentially taught her to protect her sister, but also seems to have taught to put the needs of others above herself.
Yang puts the needs of those close to her above her own because she derives self-worth and value from that.
She grew up as her sister's protector, and Yang never stepped out of that role, even when it came to other people. She never really developed a goal for herself or any real reason for who she wanted to be. How Yang handles Oobleck's question shows that - her first answer is utilitarian, with her just restating the technical meaning of being a huntress, and her "real" answer is easily the most unclear and reliant on emotion and impulse - it's devoid of the ideological side of things. Unlike the three others, her reasoning lacks any ideological core - there's no future-tense "goal" there - she says she wants to do what she always did - and that's not a why. And even before that - you have Yang equating being a Huntress to fighting with how she's disappointed Oobleck is not doing "pro-huntsman things".
Yang is still running on auto-pilot, essentially taking damage for others so she can protect them and prove her own worth to herself that way - even her semblance, as it's described in the first three volumes, places her in front of any danger coming at people around her - she's there to get hit.
It's truly fascinating that the characters view her as "a party girl" - which speaks miles about how closed off Yang is. On one hand, she dedicates herself to others - on the other, she avoids her problems via a rush of adrenaline that chaotic situations cause her - the first time we see her in the Yellow trailer, she gets into a fight with an entire mafia nightclub.
Yang loves avoiding actual self-reflection or dealing with her issues. She keeps chasing her mother, but all she does is get into unrelated bar fights and the like (and she needs Qrow's confirmation that it's her mother once she actually encounters her meaning she could have passed her in the street and she would never know) and when Qrow offers her to help to meet her? Yang outright ignores that until she suffers something horrifying.
She likes the idea of finding her mother but not so much of acting upon it - she likes having a dream and having a goal, but when asked about it, she has no concrete thoughts on what those are - she likes the IDEA of a goal, but doesn't have one.
But she does open up a bit once team RWBY gets going - I genuinely feel that honest conversations like the one she had with Blake in V2 are too far and few in between.
It's no wonder failing Blake at end of Volume 3 should affect her a lot - ALL of those things come crashing down at her all at once.
She's unable to protect Blake at all and ends up being protected by her instead.
For once she can't just "crash" through her issues anymore.
She's unable to protect her sister from traumatic experiences.
The people she opened up to all "leave" her.
The entire world views her as some awful person who broke her opponent's leg.
Yang acts like a people pleaser because she doesn't know who she wants to be, and the only inherent value she could find for herself till now was in how others view her.
I think it's interesting to explore where she goes from there.
It's why it's so disappointing how the show treats her after V3 - the brash loudmouth whose issues and trauma are ignored (because, according to her VA, "it's boring"?), the relationship is not given a proper build-up and whose loudness is treated as development instead.
It's actually one of many reasons I started putting up the AU idea I am writing.

v. $100 IS $100
The following day, you, Minji, and Gyuvin were all situated at Minji’s house, in her living room. Minji was sitting in an armchair, Gyuvin was on the sofa, and you were sprawled out on the floor, in yet another dramatic mood.
You recapped your two best friends on the incidental Saturday lunch, not missing any details. From the presence of Jungwon, especially to the comment Wonyoung made about you two getting together. The whole entire story was crazy to you and reliving it through your storytelling made you almost shiver in fear.
“And she went, ‘we will help you from the sidelines’,” you lamented, “like who says that?! I get that she has no idea about the rivalry, but he and I aren’t even cute together. He’s short.”
Gyuvin let out a hearty laugh at your comment, “Y/N, you are also short.”
“Besides the point!”
“Your life does not even sound real,” Minji said, “and it’s so hard to not laugh, I’m sorry.”
You groaned from your spot on the floor, sending Minji a side eye, “Is my life some joke to you two?!”
“A little bit.” Gyuvin laughed out.
You rolled your eyes and flipped over onto your stomach, “This is so not funny.”
“Have you thought about just telling Wonyoung to back off?” Minji asked.
“Yeah, I have, thanks.” You replied sarcastically. You craned your neck to look at your best friend, “I haven’t done it because I know for a fact she would ask why. And I don’t wanna get into all of that, especially because her boyfriend is best friends with the devil in question.”
Minji snorted, “You two should just fake date. That’d get Wonyoung to back off.”
You immediately sat up, “Are you crazy?! Absolutely not!”
Gyuvin agreed from his spot, “Minji has a point. Maybe you two could even become friends along the way.”
Shaking your head profusely, you shot a look at Gyuvin, then at Minji, “You guys are crazy.”
“What if,” Minji proposed, “you did it for money? You just told us about how your workplace is shutting down. Plus, you need the money. You’re broke as fuck.”
“Ouch.”
“She’s right, I hate to admit it.” Gyuvin said, shrugging.
“Oh, absolutely not. I may be broke but not broke enough to date Yang Jungwon, even if it’s fake.”
“How about this?” Gyuvin challenged, “If you can successfully fake date this guy until your pretentious-ass Ivy Hills masquerade dance in a couple weeks, I’ll give you $50. But only if you also go to the dance with him.”
“It’s like you want me to kill myself.”
“I’ll also give you $50.” Minji said, raising her eyebrows.
The Ivy Hills masquerade dance was essentially a more talked-up prom, but from what you’d heard, it was held in an old ballroom and the funding was insane. To have that experience be ruined by having Jungwon as a date did not sound enticing in the slightest, but $100 dollars did.
Plus, Gyuvin was right. It would only be a couple weeks.
“You guys drive a hard fucking bargain, I hate you two.”
“Damn,” Gyuvin laughed, “your ass really is broke. $100 to date your alleged enemy, and you’re sold.”
“I haven’t agreed!” You reasoned, trying to defend yourself.
“We both know you will, Y/N.” Minji cocked an eyebrow.
“I really, really hate you two.”

Hello!! Can I request for the stellaron hunters(blade, Kafka, silver wolf) or the astral express crew (Caelus,Dan heng, March 7th,Welt yang, Himeko)
with a significant other that is like Alisa Bosconovitch she's from a game called "Tekken 7" and I want to see her and the mentioned characters interact with one another?
I love Alisa so much I use her when I'm playing Tekken every time so can you do this request for me? Or not if you are busy u won't force you to do something
Anon! (≡^∇^≡)
-----♡
A/N: Hello! Thank you for the interesting request! I didn't know who she was before and had to look her up, so I hope this isn't wrong!<33
Featured characters: Silverwolf, Kafka, Blade
Content: Android reader, fluff, established relationships, threats of violence?, sfw
Reader has no set pronouns!
((Not fully proofread))
-----♡
》Silverwolf
Tumblr media
She honestly constantly forgets that you're actually just a robot, because of how human-like you are. You're always so gentle and kind with her, which drew her to you in the first place. You make her stressful and somewhat hectic work life much easier and always seem to know, when she's feeling down or just upset.
You keep her company during work hours and are essentially her assistant, whenever she's hacking into something. She also is the only one who fixes you up. She knows alot about technology and knows exactly how to help you with whatever issues you're having at all times. It's her way to repay you for your kindness.
She doesn't care that you're a robot and never mentions it either, even when she's fixing you up. You jokingly call her your "doctor", whenever she does, which she finds quite funny herself.
-----♡
》Kafka
Tumblr media
She's in love with how human-like you are, despite you being an android. Kafka is just fascinated by everything about you and will ask you alot of questions on your abilities and such. She just finds you so cute and sweet. You're always so polite and kind with everyone, which however does make her a little protect over you.
She keeps you safely at her side at all times and never let's you out of her sight. She doesn't want you to get hurt, even if you may not feel it due to not being a human. But that doesn't matter to her, as even a single scratch on your perfect skin would be a grave offence to her.
She ofcourse doesn't mind that you're an android and makes sure no one else does either. Anyone who spoils your sweet mood, will be taken care of swiftly.
-----♡
》Blade
Tumblr media
He doesn't care that you're a robot and in general doesn't care about what it really entails. All he cares about, is that you are you and never change for that matter. Anyone who has an issue with it, will be dealt with. And he certainly tolerates no disrespect towards you.
He fell in love with your gentle and kind personality, completely ignoring that you were no human. He was immortal anyhow and didn't feel like a human himself, so you balanced him out. He may not feel like he deserves you at all times, but he certainly won't ever let you go and deeply appreciates your existence dearly.
With that said, anyone who dares hurt you, will be annihilated. He doesn't care, if you can feel pain or not, he'll still stoop lower than the attackers did for you.
-----♡
A/N: I hope this was okay! Thank you again for the request!<33

Carnations | Cole Brookstone x reader Part 7
Why did this happen to you? Why did this happen to us?
Previous part, Masterlist, Next part
Tumblr media
The silence was deafening and he refused to look at me. I couldn’t believe it. I just couldn’t.
“How?”
I couldn’t get anything else out.
“We had to get this scroll in order to learn airjitsu from this haunted temple.” Cole said and I nodded.
“And?”
“And there was rule. You had to get out by dawn and everyone did… but me. Otherwise Sensei Yang essentially keeps you. He took away my body. I’m not alive anymore, Y/n.” He told me and my eyes watered, I shook my head.
“You’re not dead- you didn’t die.” I rambled and he nodded.
“But I’m not alive either. I have no pulse. Try to cut me- I don’t bleed-! I can’t even be touched physically anymore!” He exclaimed and I started crying. I wanted to run to him. I stepped towards him and he backed up. “Another thing. If any water lands on me. I die like actually die as in there is no more this form or anything.” He said and I just broke down and sobbed. Into my own hands. I sat down against his door and just sobbed.
“But I promised-!” I half said and he just looked at me with guilt. “-I promised her-“ I said and he frowned.
“Promised who?” He asked and I shook my head.
“She came back.” I said and he just frowned. “Your grandmother.” I clarified and he shook his head.
“You actually saw her?!” He said and kneeled down to my level.
“Yes! She’s the original carnation and newspaper lady ghost!” I said and he shook his head.
“Wow-“
“She made me promise to look after you-”
“-no! No. I look after you, okay? You can’t defend me the way I can defend you. Listen to me, Y/n. I have to protect you. I have to stop you from getting hurt. I can’t do that like this if I can’t even hug you when you cry.” He said and I shook my head.
“Don’t do this to me.” Is all I could say.
“Don’t say that… I love you.” He said and I just looked at him and rubbed my eyes. “I love you so much.” He whispered and I opened my arms towards him now that I wasn’t crying. He sighed and walked forward. He didn’t go through me. In fact it felt like how it always felt when I hugged him, he was just a little colder. He kissed the top of my head and I felt him rest his head there.
“We almost had it all…” I said and he nodded. “It was so good.” I added and I just felt him hold me tighter and I did the same, a tear slipped out before I could stop it and I watched it land on his arm. “Fuck!” I exclaimed and pushed myself away.
“I’m so sorry!” I immediately said and he looked at me strangely before looking at the tear on his arm.
“What the-“
“I’m so sorry.” I cried harder and he grabbed my face. I looked up in concern. He wiped my wet cheeks with his thumb and stared at it on his ghostly arm.
“It’s not burning. It’s just wet. It feels normal.” He said and it took me a moment to catch up with him.
“What- what does that mean?” I asked, frantically. Scared I hurt him. He just smiled happily and laughed before kissing me. I let him and took a moment to respond to the kiss. When he let go he rested his head on mine.
“It means- it means that I’m immune to you. You don’t effect me!” He said and I smiled.
“Really?!- you got that from a tear?!” I questioned and he shrugged.
“Saliva too.” He said and I just shook my head and clung to him.
“Does this mean we can make it work?” I asked and he looked at me and smiled.
“Yeah, it does… only if you want this. To be with a man who isn’t alive.” He said and I shrugged.
“Well my whole thing is kinda ghosts so this actually works out perfectly for us! We’re probably the best couple for this to happen to!” I exclaimed and he shrugged.
“Probably… poor Peach.” He suddenly said and I frowned.
“Is Lloyd actually possessed?” I asked and Cole nodded.
“Big time. He’s only broke through it once. To speak to Peach. Morro has a good grip on him-“
“He only broke through to speak to Peach?” I asked and he nodded.
“Told her to stay safe… and away from him. It really tore her apart. We knew we had to send her home at that point-“
“But she didn’t go home.” I said and he paused.
“I know she was at the tea shop… I really don’t know much about what happened with her that’s a Kai question- he’s the one closer to all of it and Lloyd.” Cole said and I nodded.
“He feels responsible for her with Lloyd gone?” I asked and Cole nodded.
“Don’t tell Peach but… Morro told Kai that she’s on his mind because Lloyd only thinks of her. Lloyd’s still fighting him to get back to her. They want you both. Peach for the fact she can go through the different realms and she’s like the human realm crystal-“
“But she’s got such bad energy right now-“
“I’d that’s some crystal joke I’m gonna pretend you never said that- anyway, they want you too. You brought Morro into this realm with a single touch. The ghosts you see have some attraction to you. My grandmother- your feelings for me. Morro- being close to Lloyd and having exposure to his element. Ghosts want to find you because you can see through realms like they’re not there.” He explained and I froze. “You and Peach go hand in hand. You can see through the realms. She can go through them. You’re the third eye and she’s essentially the shell that protects you. You don’t know how essential you are.” A lot of big words and information there.
“Third eye? Like-“ I made an ‘o’ with my hand and put it to my forehead to symbolise a third eye.
“If that’s how you see it?” He questioned but nodded anyway.
“Wow… I’m definitely not high enough for this.” I said and he frowned.
“You’re high?” He questioned and the door slowly creaked open. Peach, Kai, Jay and Nya all stood there. Jay had a pack of grapes in his hand and was shovelling them into his mouth.
“In her defence… Peach is a bad influence.” Kai immediately pointed at Peach who shrugged.
“I am severely depressed right now.” She said and smiled. Jay nodded like it was the most meaningful thing he’d ever heard.
“Amen.” He said and ate another grape.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“So what are we gonna do about this whole possession situation?” Peach asked. We were back in the camp chair formation with a campfire in the middle. We were still outside the tea shop.
“Well, Morro currently hates us because we have something he wants so we’re gonna set up some traps.” Nya filled us in after taking a drag and passing the blunt around.
“Yeah, water traps, so be careful.” Cole warned and I watched as his fingers went through the blunt once and then he grabbed it the second time and gave it to me. Ghosts couldn’t get high apparently. Shame. I’d never met high Cole before.
“Since you guys were the first to meet Morro and bring him through to us- and didn’t even tell us! You’re gonna have to come live here. Because he knows where you live!” Jay told us and Kai looked at him with wide eyes.
“I forgot how mean high Jay was.” Kai said and Jay didn’t even look at him.
“I forgot what a bitch high Kai was- oh wait… nothings different.” Jay said and Kai turned away, tears welling in his eyes.
“High Kai is super sensitive.” Cole whispered to me and I nodded.
“Trust me, I can see.” I said and Cole winked as I leaned down to cuddle into his chest as everyone went on.
“Jay- matey! I think yee should leave poor wee Kai alone-!” Zane exclaimed and I looked back up at Cole in shock.
“Don’t ask… Stiix is a horrible place.” He simply said and I nodded. Leaning back down.
“I can’t stop thinking about Lloyd…” Peach said and Kai nodded.
“Me too…” he agreed and I played with something on Cole’s ninja suit.
“I should probably tell you guys about the other weird ghost in my house again yesterday.” I said and they all sat up.
“I’m gonna burn that apartment.” Peach promised and Kai nodded.
“Once this is over, I’ll help you.” He said and they shook on it.
“Did you find out a name-“
“Gunther or something- he yelled it at me.” I told them and the ninjas all shared similar reactions.
“We’ve met him. He’s as bright as roadkill.” Cole said and I just nodded.
“So we just wait for them to-“ Peaxh was cut off by the loud voice is some guy in a straw hat like Wu wore.
“I hope you know that all smoking and the use of any substances on these premises is condemned.” That guy said. I took a long drag of the blunt and Peach took a long vape only to let the smoke fall out her mouth as she leaned her head back. Cole lifted my jaw up with his hand and opened his mouth like he was gonna kiss me only for me to breathe smoke into his mouth. Nya took the blunt out my hand as she walked past to take a drag and blow it in his face.
“Don’t tell us what to fucking do, Ronan.” She told him and Kai threw the empty bottle of tequila he had sitting pretty next to him at the floor next to Ronan. “You don’t care about us, about Lloyd, about this fucking shop. So don’t act as if you do and don’t try to fucking regiment us.” She told him and took another drag.
“Who’s this guy, anyway?”I asked and Peach, glitched in her seat a little.
“So that’s Lloyd’s girl?…. Shock.” He said and she smiled, unfazed. “Ghostie’s managed to keep one around as well. I thought when he turned see through he’d never get his dick wet again.” He said and suddenly a large water stain emerged on his crotch until water started leaking like a water fall through his trousers onto the floor.
“Haha- he’s pissed himself.” Jay laughed, and Ronan fumed.
“You little bitch.” He gritted his teeth at Nya.
“Why don’t you go visit your daughter. I hear she misses Daddy.” Cole said and I looked up at him in shock.
“Shut up… pass me the fucking blunt it’s been a long day.” He sighed and took the blunt and took a long drag before taking out a flask and taking a heavy sip. “Fuck I needed that.” He said as he sat on the bench near the campfire. “What’s your kids plan tomorrow?” He asked and Kai sighed.
“Gotta go and catch up to Morro.” He told Ronan who nodded.
“What you doing with the girls?” Ronan dared to ask and they tensed.
“If you’re confused, Y/n, this is the part where they tell us we’re fragile and slow them down so we sit still and look pretty at the tea shop and “help out” there where we’ll be safe.” Peach said and I frowned.
“The fuck-“ I said and Cole immediately stopped my complaint.
“Having you there with us will only make us, me especially, worry more and then we lose focus and that can be really bad. We don’t like having to leave you here but we know we have to. It’s all about keeping you safe.” He told me and I looked at Peach.
“You’re right it does feel like shit.” I said to Peach who smiled. “We’re like military wives! I’m the widow who’s gone crazy and thinks her husband’s ghost is actually real and with her so she never moves on and you’re the military wife who’s husband keeps promising he’ll be back in a few months-!” I exclaimed and she nodded.
“It’s really thrilling having to wait to see if the person you love is still alive.” She said and I nodded. “First day is always the hardest.” Peach clarified and I chuckled.
“No wonder you’re fucking crazy.” I said and she only smiled.
“It’s only a matter of time…” She told me and I laid on Cole’s chest. Who held onto guiltily to me.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“I’ll be back as soon as I can.” Cole promised and kissed my head.
“Better be.” I told him and he smiled.
“I love you.” He said and I somehow smiled harder.
“I love you too.” I held his face and kissed him. He smiled into the kiss and left a quick peck on my nose before running off to join his team.
“-you see Lloyd. You tell him to come back. I need him back.” Peach told Kai who nodded. Both completely sober now.
“Of course.” He promised her.
Me and Peach both watched as the flying ship left. The Wounty or something.
“They just leave… like that?” I asked Peach who nodded.
“Like that.” She sighed. “Everytime.” She walked towards a bucket. “Elders want us to help clean up this place. I’ll let you off easy and you can water the plants. There’s a watering can in that shed if you want to go fetch it now.” Peach said and yelled in shock as she discovered there was a whole in her full bucket. “Nya and her fucking water training.” She cursed and threw the bucket.
When I entered the shed, Ronan was sat there with this sword thing. He froze when I saw him and I leaned down to grab the watering can.
“Elders want us to clean up so if you could put that sword thingy down and pick up a sponge, it would make us very happy.” I told him and he smiled before laughing a little.
“Sure kid, I’ll clean up the shop I own since it’s dirty with the mess you made.” He said and I frowned.
“…okay. You’re weird.” I told him and walked out. Peach was right outside. Ronan walked out as well with the sword thing.
“Told Ronan to help us out but he was rude as hell. He’s obsessing over some sword he has.” I told her and she frowned.
“What sword- OH MY-“ With that she sprinted off following his distant figure. Scared and confused. I ran after her, dropping the water can.
“Is that important?!” I yelled. “Do we really need to run for it?!” I yelled and she didn’t even look back at me.
“Yes it is- RONAN! YOU SNAKE!” She called and glitched way in front of me and I slowed down. Realising my fate. I heard Peach yell and I cut through this bit of the forest to see them both by the river bank as he floated away with the sword. Peach closed her eyes and focussed. The sword starting glitching and Ronan panicked. It glitched out his hands and onto the forest floor near Ronan next to the river. She sprinted only for Ronan to shoot her in the leg, she cried out and without thinking I ran to pick up the sword. Suddenly the air around me felt so heavy and there were multiple ghosts surrounding me as I picked up the sword. I could hear Peach’s heavy breaths as she tried to deal with the pain of being shot. The ghosts all stopped some paces away from me and didn’t go any further.
“I see you’ve met my friends.” It was the voice of the guy from in the kitchen- Morro -but it was Lloyd’s body. I was staring at Lloyd. “Sorry to hear your little interest is now like me. Too bad he won’t ever be able to touch you properly anymore. Lloyd understands. He can’t touch the person who loves anymore. Not unless I let him.” He crouched down before Peach and ripped off the sleeve of Lloyd’s green ninja gi. He wrapped the fabric around her thigh and tied it tightly. Peach was breathing heavily and dazed. “Poor thing. Lost a lot of blood. Don’t worry it’ll all be over soon.” Morro said and kissed the top of her head. “Once we find the realm crystal and unleash my master. I’ll take her… Make Lloyd watch as I never let him be with her again. Only watch as I control what he does. Feel what he wants to.” Morro told me and then smiled. It was horrible seeing Lloyd’s body be used like this. His face still his but nothing done was him. Not the dull eyes that were usually green. It almost reminded me of how dull Cole’s eyes looked now. “Maybe I’ll take you as well. With how much agro the ninja have caused me I deserve something extra from them.” I stayed next to Peach and rose the sword when he got closer.
“Go away.” I told him, voice shaky.
“How cute- stop!- no! -no!- ah! I-“ Morro started holding his head until he collapsed and Peach suddenly sat up quickly to hold him. His head rested on her shoulder.
“Lloyd?” She questioned and he nodded.
“Go…” he said, quietly. Warningly, and she held him. “Please…” he begged.
“Y/n! Run! Now!” Peach screamed.
“What about you?!-“
“Doesn’t matter! Go! Don’t stop and watch the sword!” She screamed as I sprinted away. When I looked back she was stroking the back of Lloyd’s hair and cradling his head and she spoke into his ear. Rocking them both gently.
I’d never ran so much in my life. I was out of breath and I could hear the crying and screaming of all these ghosts. Watch the sword. I looked down to see Ronan on the blade of the sword… in a reflection. He was jumping from behind me. I quickly spun around in disbelief and watched as he landed on the blade of the sword. His stomach sliced and he sucked in a breath in shock. I dropped the sword and covered my mouth as I screamed. “What did I just do?!” I questioned to myself. I couldn’t even think before I was being thrown to the ground. I watched as Morro picked up the sword and then grabbed Ronan by the back of his shirt. A green dragon emerged and I quickly crawled back in fear. It snapped its jaw at me as Morro climbed on.
“You’ve caused me enough hassle today.” He said and dropped Ronan to the ground. My breathing picked up suddenly the world felt too small. And then- nothing. Nothing except the laugh track of some TV show. I closed my eyes then opened them.
“Y/n?” It was Peach. I opened them to see her eating some selection box. “I think you were having a nightmare.” She said and I looked at her closely. She seemed a little tired but that’s normal. Pyjama T-shirt was on and pyjama shorts. I would’ve been convinced it was all a dream if I didn’t see the bandage poking out her pyjamas shorts.
“Morro-“
“Gone. Sword too. The ninja are on their way back.” She told me and I just started crying. She frowned. “Don’t do that. It’s not your fault. Morro is smart and in Lloyd’s body he’s more powerful than anyone.” She told me and continued to eat her food.
“But the sword thingy was really important! And I lost it!” I cried.
“Do you even know what it did?” She asked and I shook my head. “Do you know what we needed it for?” She asked and I shook my head.
“No.” I sniffed.
“Save your tears. There’s bigger mistakes to be made.” Peach said and I shook my head.
“Isn’t everyone gonna be like really upset? How important was it? What is actually going on?” I asked all in one and she gave me a look before putting her bowl down.
“I need to get you some food- anyway! You know Morro is a ghost and he’s tryna unleash some big scary monster from the cursed realm who is his master, right?” She asked and I nodded. “Okay! Well, the ninja are obviously trying to stop that. And to do that they need to find the realm crystal to stop him and hopefully get Lloyd back. Heavy on that one.” She emphasised and I nodded.
“I’m following… kinda.” I said and she nodded.
“In order to find the realm crystal they have to learn how to do airjitzu, they’ve done that, it’s sort of like spinjitzu in the air. There’s a lot of jitzus going on around here. Anyway they’ve done that. Then they needed the sword that we just lost. It was called the sword of sanctuary. It likes gives you a glimpse into the future and what your enemy is about to do. Thats how you knew Ronan was about to jump onto you-!” I didn’t want to remember that.
“What else did they need?”
“It’s complicated.” Peach said and swallowed a bite. “They need to find the first spinjitzu master’s tomb, who’s Lloyd’s grandad by the way, because the realm crystal is with him but they can’t do that until they collect the 3 hidden symbols. Airjitzu, sword of sanctuary and- and- I don’t actually remember the last one but I know it’s important.” Peach said I rubbed my temples.
“I really fucked up then?” I said and she shook her head.
“It’s okay! We’ve all done it!” She exclaimed and turned to face me. “Look, the first ever time I was with Lloyd and involved in this ninja stuff it was literally when he was about to fight his Dad in the final battle. It was up to me to stop the final battle happening by placing the helmet ontop of its perch on this huge clock.” She said and I gasped.
“You couldn’t do it?!” I asked and she shook her head and put her food down. It clearly still annoyed her.
“I was a second late.” She turned to look at me. “That’s why they call me slow. It’s also why I don’t really like coming around here sometimes. It still bothers me.” She admitted and I looked up at her through watery eyes.
“Is this gonna be that bad?” I asked and she shook her head.
“No. We can get the sword back, we can stop Morro. I can’t reverse the final battle. No matter how hard I think about it and now I couldn’t save Lloyd again. He’s saved me so many times I’m starting to believe he does put in more effort.” Peach admitted and I frowned.
“He’s the green ninja. It’s his job to save you. I’d be annoyed if he didn’t. And Morro’s a dick.” I said and she nodded.
“He is.” She agreed.
“Plus, the final battle stopped Garmadon and turned him good.” I reminded her and she shrugged.
“Believe me, nothing is stopping that old man.” Peach joked and I heard someone scoff.
“Watch who you’re calling old.” He said and ruffled her hair. “Daughter of mine.” He added and I felt my heart melt.
“Oh yeah? Remind me how many candles I need to put on your cake this year?” She asked and his face didn’t change.
“1346.” He said and I almost chocked on nothing.
“One thousand three hundred and forty six?! Like years old?!” I asked and Peach looked at me and then him.
“She’s not calling you old. She’s saying you’re practically an ancient ruin.” Peach told him and he stuck his tongue out playfully. Oh my god. Like father like son except nothing is different. They kinda have the same haircut as well.
“Y/n! How about we all get introduced?” He suggested and another voice cut in.
“Yes, I agree brother. We should all get to know one another if we are to soon be living under the same roof.” Wu told us. Peach almost did choke on her pasta and I spun around.
“Since when?!” I asked and she pointed at me in agreement.
“I’m afraid your apartment is too unsafe without a barrier around it like the monastery.” Wu added.
“I have an idea- hear me out- we put a barrier around the apartment.” Peach suggested and I nodded.
“My room?!” I suddenly grabbed the sides of my head in shock.
“Well shit.” Peach said.
“I wanted to tell them.” Garmadon sulked and I turned to Peach.
“He’s so a Pookie.” I told her and she shook her head.
“He’s not a Pookie, he’s the Pookie.” She told me and I nodded.
“I vote we kick Lloyd out and put him in.” I said and we shook hands.
“I vote that too.” She agreed.
“I too would like to vote to kick my son out this Pookie group. We should update our Facebook status.” Garmadon said and I looked at Peach in disbelief.
“He’s perfect.” I said and he smiled.
“He’s devious. Watch out.” Peach said and shuffled over so the man could sit between us.
“Do you know why I had 4 arms?” He asked, devious looked and I frowned.
“Because you were an evil overlord?” I asked and he smiled.
“No… Yes.” He sighed but shook his head. “It’s to give twice as many hugs!” He said and pulled both me and Peach in for a hug.
“Woah!” I said in shock but patted the arm around me.
“Garm, you’re the Dad I never had and I love this but my leg-! Oh my god… you and Lloyd have the same deodorant.” Peach said and removed the arm around her.
“Misako does the shopping!” He exclaimed and she shook her head in disbelief.
“What’s happening in here?” Misako asked as she walked in.
“Lloyd and Garmadon have the same deodorant.” I told her and she frowned.
“They both have sensitive armpits.” She said and Garmadon nodded.
“Lloyd’s armpits are really sensitive.” Peach revealed and I cringed.
“Cole’s armpits are really hairy. Like long as well and thick. I pulled it once. He didn’t find it as funny as I did…” I revealed and Peach giggled.
“The thought…” Peach said, absentmindedly.
“I still can’t believe I lost that sword.” I sighed and Peach groaned.
“Really?!” She asked and I turned to look at her.
“I can.” Garmadon said and I sharply turned to him.
“Not the most comforting thing to say but okay.” Peach commented.
“Morro and the ninja are highly trained and I believe you only take one self defence class a week with Kai?” Garmadon questioned and I cringed.
“Oh this was your plan all along!” Peach suddenly sat up.
“You get us evicted so we have to come live with you and train full time oh it’s so evil. I blame you.” Peach said and turned to Garmadon.
“Guilty.” He said and raised his hands. Misako rolled her eyes.
“I’m afraid training is mandatory to stay at the monestary with us all but it will help with future events like this.” Misako told us and I frowned.
“This is gonna happen again?!” I questioned.
“Most definitely.” Wu jumped in. “That is the burden that we carry but as fate’s soldiers. We must do our duty.” Wu said and I turned to Peach.
“He’s good.” I said.
“Yeah until you realise it’s gonna take like 10 years before we’re like the ninja.” She said and I looked back.
“Not so good.” I said and Garmadon rolled his eyes.
“It will not take you 10 years.” He stood up and sighed. “Even if it did. It would’ve be a problem considering you are most likely to live to my age.” Garmadon said and I sat up.
“I’m gonna be that old?!” I questioned and Garmadon frowned.
“Yes, my brother is that old. However, he often forgets it.” Wu slyly jabbed and Garmadon waited until he was next to him to throw his arm around him and practically start old man wrestling.
“Calling me old? You’re only 2 years younger- my knee!” Garmadon screeched.
“My back!” Wu yelled and both men timed out.
“These men are responsible for training Ninjago’s saviours. The two sons of the first spinjitzu master.” Peach said and I laughed.
0:57————|——— -2:10
“Hey… I know it may not seem like it but having you here… will mean the world to Cole.” Misako told me and I frowned. Looking at the ship coming in closer.
“Really? It doesn’t seem that way. He made me feel like I make him worry more and lose focus.” I said and she frowned.
“Maybe if you were out there fighting but him knowing that he’s coming back to you. And you’re in what he knows to be a safe environment… they don’t like to admit it but having that support system waiting for them, makes them work harder.” Misako told me and Peach nodded from where she was sat.
“At the end of the day it’s not the others they seek comfort from and want to talk about everything to. It’s us.” Peach added and I nodded.
“I’ll keep it in mind.” The conversation ended as the ship landed and Cole was immediately jumping off the side of the ship and running towards me. I immediately clung to him and he checked me over frantically.
“I’m okay, I’m okay. Just a few bruises.” I told him and he shook his head.
“That was so dangerous. Going directly against Morro like that. Going against Ronin! You could’ve been badly hurt or killed!” He scolded and I felt tears enter my eyes.
“I’m sorry.” I just said and his face fell. He immediately cradled my head into his chest and used the other half of his body to practically shield me from everyone else as I sobbed. “I lost the sword-! I- I almost got killed. I was so scared! I couldn’t run fast enough! I stabbed Ronin-!” It all came out and he hushed me.
“It’s okay… it’s okay.” He soothed and kissed my forehead. “You’re okay. As long as you’re okay.” He repeated and I sniffed. Clinging onto him.
“I messed up…” I said and he shook his head.
“And I’ve done so much worse.” Cole told me. “Wanna talk about mistakes? I accidentally became a ghost!” He tried to comfort me and I shook my head.
“I should’ve ran faster.” I said and he held me tighter.
“No you were amazing. You’ve never done any of this before. It’s all new and you’re handling everything better than I could ever ask you to.” Cole said and took both my hands in his as he kneeled down. “I’m so fucking proud of you. You were so brave! I just get so scared of losing you. I wouldn’t ever stop blaming myself if you had been seriously hurt or even killed.” Cole said and I sniffed.
“You’re not upset about the sword?” I asked and he shook his head.
“I’m furious.” He said and I felt my body stiffen. “At Morro and his little gang.” He added and I breathed in relief.
“He had a really big dragon.” I said and Cole smiled.
“So you met Lloyd’s dragon? He’s not quite as big as mine. His name’s Rocky. You’ll love him!” Cole exclaimed and I became slightly frightened.
“You have a dragon?!” I questioned and he slightly cringed at my tone.
“We all do.” He told me and I nodded in shock.
“Yo! Did anyone know that Peach got shot?!” Jay said alarmed.
“Lloyd’s gonna kill me.” Kai rubbed his temples. “He made me promise that she’d stay out of it.” Kai admitted.

so, i was wondering about that mirror AU. first off i wanna say, i really like the designs. but i did have a few questions.
So first off, for Magolor, you say he's basically blind but it looks like he has an eye in his mouth like the original soul version. Is that not an eye or am I just going crazy?
Secondly, You mentioned how Adeline is the most normal of them. So are all the characters basically insane and if so, how would you say they rank on the sanity scale?
And finally, and I just have to ask this being a fan of both these characters, but you mentioned that Magolor has someone to help guide him, being blind. Is there by any chance that this seeing-eye jester you mentioned happens to be Marx?
ohhh hi!! tysm for asking about this! i'm really glad people took an interest in those mirror world counterparts, it means a lot :]]
ok, to start, i'm gonna talk about adeleine and sanity :D (since the two magolor questions tie in with each other and bc i like talking about her)
Tumblr media
here is the "sanity" scale! i put this in quotes because they are all a little bit insane in their own ways <3
adeleine is the "most normal" here, not because she is mentally sane, but because she basically lives the same life she had pre-DL3 (living alone in cloudy parks, surrounded by her living discarded WIPs, having various temper tantrums). obviously, she still plays a role in the mirror-world version of 64:CS, but she let the whole "shiver star oh my god. earth is dead. humans are gone and i'm the only one left" thing completely take over her psyche. she stays up in the clouds, desperately trying to remember life on earth, and maybe– just maybe, convince herself that she's not alone.
magolor is doing surprisingly okay here?? like, sure he barely managed to scrape his way out of purgatory, and now has the remains of his wrongdoings etched into his body, but he's taking it like a champ 👍👍 he denies what happened to him was his fault (even when it totally was), and because of it, his AD experience was ramped up to 11. he feels no remorse for his betrayal, and instead no longer fights kirby simply because he gave up trying. he's also got the whole..eye and crown thing going on. so.
elfilin is next, with him basically being confined to the Pickle Jar. he's trapped in his own mind (forever wandering the isolated isles) and just kinda floats there, waiting for something to save him from an eternity of chaos. i put him above adeleine because of the situation that leads him there in the first place. since the initial splitting of elfilis/elfilin was a lot more messy, it means that they're stuck in a yin-yang scenario. instead of completely good, elfilin is mostly good, and that sliver of darkness increased his susceptibility to fecto forgo, drawing him to lab discovera. the beast pack captures him and tries to fuse him with forgo, but because of the discordance, it's taking a lot longer. the "good" part of elfilin hangs on, trapped in his dreams and slowly losing his grip, which is represented by his constant crying of the blood cell-like orbs from chaos elfilis' fight.
ribbon is. not doing so hot here. not only is she on the verge of breaking (mentally and physically), she has essentially isolated herself to complete an impossible mission. since the crystal was smashed into thousands upon thousands of pieces, she'll likely spend the rest of her life searching for each shard. she wallows in guilt and self-depreciation (even though it's not her fault!!), and is also fighting off dark matter possession at any given point. her will is strong, but how long can she last?
okay!! magolor time!!
Tumblr media
magolor's seeing-eye jester is indeed marx! (though he will kill you if you call him that) while mirror-marx is even less of a good choice to befriend than normal marx, their friendship still upholds :]
while yeah, magolor does have a huge-ass eye in his mouth, it's not him that's doing the seeing. the visual information goes straight to the master crown, if this makes sense.
the master crown's power has dulled, now forming a symbiotic relationship with him. magolor provides the crown with a body to host, and the crown's magic allows him survive AD, basic perception (he's not gonna run into a tree anytime soon, but can't read or see faces), and a huge ego boost.

I think the only way to make sense of the new episode is that the conflict about the paper pleasers is how all the characters would react about Penny's death if they knew what Jaune did. WBY comforting Jaune that they and Penny would've wanted this (they're less than human after all). Ruby lashing out at everyone else despite both things (the villager's deaths and Penny's) being her fault. Jaune blaming Ruby but he was the one who forced the villagers to suicide and assisted Penny's.
You know, I've been so distracted by all the other Big Events of this Volume - the bees are confirmed, a whole village happily dies, Ruby is having a meltdown - that I kinda forgot about the whole Penny issue? It only hit me again in the middle of Jaune's grief when he was talking (paraphrased) about how he was the only one who could 'do it.' As you say, there are ways of trying to make sense of this episode "if they knew what Jaune did".... but they presumably don't? I say "presumably" because RWBY drives me up the wall with how often very important information is conveyed to characters off screen, leaving us in the dark about how much was explained and in what way - especially in a show where people keeping secrets/manipulating information is a recurring theme. We've now had two major time skips where Penny's death presumably could have come up: when WBY were catching up after Ruby's faint, and while the girls were filling Jaune in after he rescues them from the first Jabberwalker attack. I don't think Ruby, Yang, and Blake know the full story about Penny yet because HOW could Ruby possibly have a go at Jaune without bringing that up... but I can't be sure.
Which puts the whole episode in an even weirder light for me. Again, is the moral of this that Jaune needs to learn to let people die when they ask that of him? Regardless of the writer's thematic perspective, the characters should have wildly different opinions on that and it's weird that they were allowed to remain ignorant when that all came to a head. It's weirder still that one of our characters isn't ignorant (Weiss) and yet that's had no bearing on her actions this episode.
Weiss, the one person who knows Jaune killed Penny to keep the Maiden powers safe, watching him desperately try to protect innocent, non-human people that are clearly a stand-in for her after decades of isolation from his world: 'He's gone off the deep end, huh?'
I can forgive Ruby, Yang, and Blake ignoring Jaune's cryptic comment/not following up with a, 'Wait, what did you do?' because at that point the fight was starting in earnest and everyone was too wrapped up in themselves. But that just implies that this will have to come out before the end of the Volume which is in... three episodes? The meat of this Volume really only started when Jaune arrived (because of course it did), which means we essentially only have half of an already short season to cover a LOT of stuff: learn the secrets of Alyx and Lewis, figure out the Jabberwalker, defeat it, defeat Neo, fix Jaune (presumably), reconcile the team, semi-conclude Ruby's grief arc, finish things with the Cat, with Little, discover something to help with Salem so this isn't complete filler, get to the tree, establish if they can use the tree, get home. Even if we take into account RWBY's tendency to speed-run through an insane amount of plot in a single scene (here's the introduction of the Staff, how it works, its limitations, and your brilliant loophole all in one go), that's too much to juggle, on top of this, "So... when are they going to learn the truth about Penny and grapple with that?" question. Remember how after Volume 8 the fandom (quite rightly) was going, "Wow! It's going to be a lot for Ruby to deal with Penny's death and the knowledge that Jaune caused it" but seven episodes in she still only has half the information and is only just reaching her breaking point in regards to that. Learning it was Jaune should be another huge setback in a story that hasn't even had her grapple with the first one yet. It honestly makes me wonder if RT is planning to stretch Ever After into a two Volume affair...

THERAPY SESSION ONE [UNLOCKED]
Tumblr media
[DATE] Ẃ̶ͅh̶͓̅a̴̝͂t̶̬́ ̴͔͐m̴͍̿o̷͈̍n̶̘͗t̵̥̅h̶̝̓ ̷̠̊ȉ̶͕s̶̹̈́ ̷̪̂ḯ̸̭ṱ̴͠ ̷̨̅ä̷̰́g̸̘̽a̵͉͆i̶̧̅n̴̞͑?̶̗͑   2̸͉̚0̸̰̃X̴͓̄X̶͍̐
[TIME] T̵͍͑ǐ̷̗m̷̻̒ȩ̷͒ ̶̞͑.̴̨̿ ̴̨̂.̷̹͐ ̷̧͊.̵̛̗ ̷͇̽?̷̘͑
You didn’t like being here. Sure a few rays of the sun poured in through the windows, creating a bright and warm atmosphere, but it was artificial, at least it was to you. The snow fell slowly and softly outside, in a way that competed with the sun, like yin and yang. It reminded you of..what did it remind you of?
“..ello? Hello?” You look up, you remember where you are. Your counselor, Dr. Mackey was sitting right across from you, you were in one of your therapy sessions.
“Oh dear, are you alright? You zoned out on me again..” Dr. Mackey looks concerned as he talks to you.
You remember why you’re here.
“Right well,” Dr. Mackey pushes his glasses up, “You said you were open to discussing what happened to you last session, correct?”
You nod, a feeble nod..it was all you could muster.
Dr. Mackey sighs before continuing, “Before we begin, there are a few things I need to make sure you understand. You see, no one can change what happened last year. The past is beyond our control. You have to accept this in order to move forward. But there is freedom in this revelation. Everything you do, every decision you make from now on, will open doors to the future. I want you to remember this. I want you to remember this as you play your game. Every single choice will affect your fate, and the fate of those around you.”
You can’t help but wonder if he’s talking to you in a broader sense.. Like you feel as if he’s talking to you, but not TO you.
Before you have a chance to ask, Dr. Mackey continues once more, “So, you have committed to commence with this 'game'. This is significant. And I want to help you see it through. Sometimes... Sometimes these things can be a little scary... even terrifying... but I am here to make sure that no matter how upsetting things may get, you'll always find a way to work through it.”
Your voice is lost, you’re not even sure you had a voice to begin with.
Dr. Mackey, seeing your perplexed facial expression, clicks his tongue before once again continuing the flow of this one sided conversation, “Alright. We will start with a simple exercise. Could you please pick up the card? And I want you to look at the picture on the other side, and tell me what you feel about it. It is essential that you answer honestly in order to get the most out of this experience.”
You look down and you notice a card sitting in front of you. The card… when did this get here? Regardless, you pick the card up. There is a cottage and it’s in the middle of a field, there is a scarecrow off center and to the right, closer to where the camera must have been set up. The picture is faded.. The colors have muted a bit and the edges are even yellowing, you have no clue when this picture was taken.
Once you set the picture down, Dr. Mackey looks ready to talk again and he does, “So... how did that picture make you feel? Remember: be honest.”
As soon as he finishes, you feel your voice come back to you, “I..I don’t know. I feel uneasy about it.. But I think overall it makes me happy.”
Dr. Mackey’s face twitches in what you could only call amusement. He jots a few notes down and looks back up at you, “That’s good..very good now, in what way would you say it makes you happy?”
“The sunshine..even if it’s a photograph of sunshine, it looks more realistic to me than..” You trail off, but you and Dr. Mackey both know you’re referring to the fakeness in which you feel as you sit across from him. He continues the questions as he jots down your answer.
“ I see. So which word would describe how you feel about darkness?”
You pause for a moment, unsure of how to answer, Dr. Mackey waits patiently for you to speak.
“I feel depressed.. About it, I think. The darkness is uninviting.. Lonely.” You say.
“Ahh.. Depression... feelings of loneliness are not uncommon. This night, in which your game takes place, is particularly cold and dark... I would think that you might feel... isolated at times. Does that bother you?”
You nod your head, “Yeah..it does bother me.”
Dr. Mackey eyes light up in surprise, but you’re not sure if he’s mocking you, “Oh! Well... in that case, this game might be a little challenging for you. Still, there's an opportunity for you here to engage with the others... connect with them. Before you start to split them up. Before you... isolate them. Is there anything else about the photograph you’d like to talk about?”
You look back down at the photograph, pondering it for a few moments, “The feeling of unease.. it comes from the scarecrow.”
Dr. Mackey writes your answer down, “Then.. let’s remove the scarecrow. Imagine it was gone, would you be willing to stay at this cottage? Say..a week or more?”
You nod your head firmly, “Absolutely, the scarecrow is the only thing really preventing me from liking the cottage.”
You look up at Dr. Mackey and you noticed his eyebrows furrowed in confusion at your response, “What if it was haunted?”
Shrugging you give him a simple response, “I don’t think I’d care too much if it was haunted.”
Dr. Mackey hums, “So the scarecrow frightens you... and yet you don't appear to be bothered by the possibility of the supernatural... “ He trails off and takes his glasses off, staring straight into your eyes, “I suspect that someone is not being entirely honest with me. Our time's up, let's investigate that in our next session, shall we?”
You shiver, unsure of how to take his words.
Dr. Mackey stands up and he walks over to the lone window in his office, humming an unfamiliar tune as he goes.
You feel tired.

Redhead Revival 2!:
Blake yells out in surprise,” What do you mean long story?!? Adam you’re supposed to be dead in a river!”
Yang backs that up with a retort,” Yeah! We didn’t kill you just to be alive again!”
“Again, I iterate it is a long story. Just trust me, or the very least Summer and Pyrrha,” Adam had replied.
Yang replied,” We will trust you and Thief there once we want to, I will trust my mom and my friend though.”
Ruby, Weiss, and Blake also stand in agreement with this statement by saying,” Yeah!”
With team RWBY ready to listen to Summer and Pyrrha’s story, Jaune is crying. Now of sadness though, but of joy and relief! Jaune is just hugging Pyrrha tightly saying to himself," Please don't be dream."
As he is saying this Pyrrha is uncomfortable, and say to him," Who are you?"
RWBYJ is in shock over the fact Pyrrha had forgotten her first love. Jaune lets go of her and replies,” What do you mean who am I? I was your leader, friend, crush…”
Pyrrha tells him,” I’m sorry? I don’t know you sir.”
Jaune in shock; looks over to Ren waiting for a response.
“She only really remembers the last person she saw. Same with Adam, Roman, and Summer. Adam remembers Yang and Blake. Roman remembers Neo and Ruby. Summer remembers Salem. We have been trying to make them remember there memories, but it’s been hard without key information,” Ren explained with a bit of sadness. After Ren had said that, silence would sink in the room.
“So… she only remembers Cinder the most,” Jaune said, breaking the silence in the room.
Ren furthering in explaining what happened,” Essentially yes but… since she did not know much about Cinder it ended with her having not much of a memory.”
Ruby curious asked,” So does my own mom not know anything about me?”
Oscar speaks up after being silent for a while,” Essentially yes, but if you can recover their memories by talking and interacting with them. Pyrrha remembers slight bits of Nora and Ren for example.”
Roman speaks up for this first time,” So Red, where’s my partner in crime?”
Ruby finches a bit, but composes herself to tell him. “Roman… she’s still there. She is reforming… she chased me down because she thought you died because of me. And now she is going to reform.”
“So she’s just stuck there? That seems like her.” Roman understood what Red had told him.
Ruby speaks to him,” She’ll come back once she is ready.”
Roman nods acknowledging this,” Well Red, at least she is safe.”
Ruby responded,” Yeah.” Ruby then continued towards her mother. “Do you know me or Yang, mom?”
Sunmer answer with confusion,” I have children?”
Yang and Ruby gasp at this. Yang starts to breakdown, not just because of the revelation that Summer forgot her, but at the fact one of the major influences of her life forgot her. Ruby on the other hand is distraught. Her mom, the person she idolized forgot her. Ruby broke for a second time. She fell to her knees and was crying, so was Yang.
Jaune having the courage to ask the big question, asked,” How hard is it to recover their memories?”
Ren told them with a simple answer,” It is hard, but not impossible.”
—————
Welp that was Part 2! Sorry, it took too long! I was busy with programs and my computer had broke. (Plus I have been playing a bit too much Star Rail.) So I hope you enjoyed this chapter of the story, and know Part 3, I hope, will take less time too complete than this part!

Miraculous Movie vs Show: Which did Romance Better?
Neither the movie nor the show is a solid piece of storytelling. They’re both riddled with flaws and with fun, cute moments. So, for my own entertainment, I decided to consider both and decide which one did the essentials better. First up: let's look at some core elements to decide which has the better romance?
Adrienette
While Adrinette is barely in the movie, it’s in it enough for us to compare the big moments: Marinette falling in love, their developing friendship, and Marinette asking Adrien out. That first item is an easy win for the show. While the umbrella scene and the library scene have similar pacing and emotional beats, the umbrella scene still wins hands down because it’s more than an act of basic human decency. Adrien is being kind to a person who wildly misjudged him, establishing a key element of his character and making us understand why he deserves a role beyond ‘pretty-boy crush’. It also elevates Marinette’s crush to something that feels true. Like she fell for him, not his looks or celebrity status.
The other two points are where things get tricky.
Because the movie didn’t drag the status quo out for 5 seasons, movie Adrienette has something that show Adrinette basically never did: a friendship. Movie Marinette talks to Adrien. She learns about his life. They hang out with their friends. She eventually works up the guts to ask him out! Her movie crush feels like more than a surface-level crush even though the scene that established the crush failed to give us that impression.
If movie Adrienette had more screen time, then it might actually have won this point, but its brief nature and the weakness of the setup make this one a win for the show. While the show has largely butchered Adrienette, the umbrella scene can’t be overlooked when comparing the core elements (setup, development, ending). It’s the scene that made me actually start shipping the square because, prior to that, Marinette’s crush felt like nothing special and you did wonder why Adrien won over Chat Noir. Without the umbrella scene or something similar, the movie makes that question stick around: story wise, why is Adrien winning here? He feels like a pretty generic crush.
Ladynoir
If we look at the same three elements (setup, development, ending), then show Ladynoir and movie Ladynoir don’t have all that much to differentiate them. Similar meeting, similar moment where Chat Noir falls in love, similar team bonding, similar romantic confession moment where Ladybug shoots him down for Adrien. The big thing that sets the movie apart and the reason why I’m giving it the point is the fact that the movie focuses on Ladynoir being partners.
While the “better together” element is not well executed in terms of explaining what the heck it even means, it’s there and that’s something that the show has completely failed to give us. Outside of the yin-yang symbol and the fact that Creation and Destruction are clearly a pair, there’s nothing in the show to explain why Chat Noir needs to be there. In fact, one might even question why Fu handed out the ladybug and the black cat when those are the miraculouses that the villain wants and only the ladybug seems necessary to fix things. In the movie, that question is answered right from the start and that makes it the clear winner.
Identity Reveal
The show has had three of these, the movie had one. Since two of the show’s reveals lead to the end of the world and the third involved them not even knowing that it was an identity reveal, I feel like I have to give this to the movie. It’s the only one that’s fully satisfying for the audience.
If I was just comparing the movie and Oblivio, then I’d have a harder time calling it because I love Oblivio, but Ephemeral and Chat Blanc are such slaps in the face to ‘the power of love always so strong’ that the movie has to get the point.
Getting Together
This is tied to the identity reveal in the movie, but not in the show. In the show, we have the Chat Blanc moment, the Ephemeral moment, Oblivio, and Kwami’s Choice. Because I judged the first three of those in the previous section and because they got reset, I’ll be nice and compare the movie to Kwami’s Choice, which does deserve some praise.
While the overall message of that special was idiotic, the moment where Adrien figured out a way to get around Marinette’s talking issues was adorable. It’s the sort of stuff that I love to write for them. The movie didn’t give us that. The dance in the snow is adorable, Adrien crying makes you want to hug him, but it is a rather generic moment that could have happened between many couples. The hand thing? That's unique to their characters. It shows Marinette’s issues and Adrien’s kindness beautifully, so I’ll give this one to the show.
Romantic Tension
I needed a deciding item and this is the one that I’m going with! It’s something that the movie did well while the show doesn’t really have it, which is a big flaw for something that decided to randomly reverse the crushes. You see, if movie Ladybug suddenly fell for Chat Noir, then I’d buy it. When show Ladybug did it? It was blatantly obvious that it was just filler to add tension. I also didn't buy Adrien's flip, but let's not get into that!
As the story moves along, movie Ladybug is shown to care deeply for her partner through their developing (if confusing) "better together" message. Their song scene is adorable and romantic and it feels genuine. Show Ladynoir could never pull something like that off because Ladybug has always kept Chat Noir at arm's length due to the need to preserve the status quo so that a 2-season story could be drawn out to 6+ seasons.
There's a thin line between romance and friendship. Walking that line makes for a good story. The movie walks the line. The show runs away from it screaming because you can only walk a line for so long. Eventually, you have to pick a side. The story has to end. Draw out the tension too long, insert too much drama, and your audience will start to view your end-game couple as deeply unhealthy because you've done so much to keep them apart that the viewer has started to wonder if getting them together is actually the right call.
Final Thoughts
While the movie is far from perfect, its romance is going to feel far more genuine for established fans who wanted a well-paced romance for the love square. The show has done too much to drag things out and preserve the status quo, turning an adorable love story into an angst-fueled disaster.
As someone who loves seeing tragedy bring couples together, that’s a massive disappointment, so it’s nice to have the moments from the movie even if the movie didn’t do the work to earn the moments. And it didn't. It really didn't.
If you’re not already a Miraculous fan, then I would not recommend the movie as I don’t think that the romance (or really any element) will feel satisfying. While the show is flawed, it gives fans the setup they need so that they can watch the movie and insert the missing pieces that were needed to make the story work. Without the show, the movie falls apart because nothing is properly set up. And, yes, my Ladrien loving heart is sad that we didn't see any hero/civilian moments, but I'm not holding that against it. Movies are short and need to focus on the core elements of a story. Ladynoir and Adrinette are the core of the romance and the movie did both of them decently well.
What do you think? I may do more of these show vs movie things if people found this one interesting.

what do yin and yang mean? are they categories of abilities?
great question, nonnie! in essence, yin and yang abilities are categories of abilities that are only really relevant to our sporting rally subplot and follows on from this faq that our lovely member asked earlier in the week! again, our full response is a little lengthy, so we've placed it under the cut!
Tumblr media
essentially, the distinction between yin and yang abilities lie in the presence vs absence of mental exertion ( i.e. thinking )! yin abilities ( ⚫ ) require mental exertion ( e.g. a telekinetic requiring use of the mind to move objects or likewise, a sensory scryer needing to concentrate to jump onto others' senses ). in contrast, yang abilities ( ⚪ ) do not require mental exertion ( i.e. an anomaly that is constitutively active, can be triggered by simple hand movements, or an action sequence that is akin to a special jump ). as such, yin abilities typically encompass psionic and mental abilities, while yang abilities typically encompass physiologies and enhancements ( of course, this is not always the rule! ). the reason for this distinction is purely for purposes of our sporting rally subplot! as mentioned in the previous faq linked above, while each sporting house has 6 members, not all members will participate in every game. furthermore, certain anomalies ( i.e. psionic abilities ) are more advantageous in certain games over others. importantly, the house members themselves will be given a very vague hint on what each game focuses on ( i.e. [ WILL, ⚫ ] — wherein the black circle symbolises a single member with a yin ability ) and will have to elect one member that they believe will have the advantage in this game. once one member has been elected per house, the game and its rules will then be revealed, and the elected member will be forced to compete in hopes of securing a spot for their house in the next round. as you can imagine, the reason for categorising abilities and requiring an equal number of yin and yang members in a team ( excluding the captain and vice captain ) is thus, to maximise the chances of each team having members that are suited for the maximum genre of games! additionally, the instructions given ( requiring either yin or yang member(s), or both ) double as a hint for the type of ability that may be advantageous for this round. going back to the previous example, a captain may decide that their yin member with mindshifting may be more beneficial for the [ WILL, ⚫ ] prompt as opposed to their yang member with unbreakable skin. while we are here, i should also mention that these prompts are not hard and fast rules, and captains may definitely decide to throw in a yang member into the ring! they may do this for various reasons, such as believing that the yang member may still have a more relevant anomaly compared to their other yin members, if their yang member has an ability that may be disadvantageous to the other teams ( after all, the name of the game is not to come first, but to not come last ), or even for a totally strategic gamble that their yang member may be able to outsmart the game itself, such as if the captain suspects that the game is a test of one's mental endurance and thus, throws in a yang member with the constitutively active psychic immunity! we hope this makes sense, and we're so excited to see a large interest in the sporting rally! we'll definitely take this on board and consider bringing the next rally a little closer than what we had previously planned! and as always, please don't hesitate to send in more questions, rally related or otherwise!

what i really like about the way RWBY uses character allusions is that they're not taking a story from one, say, fairy tale and then adapting it to fit their own, but rather they take a story element (or two) and turn it into this thematic component of sorts that is used as a structural piece for the character in question — and sometimes for their counterpart as well to explore it further.
take yang as an example; her allusion is goldilocks, and what they took from that story is "too hot, too cold, just right" to play with expectations and the following tendency to box people in to neat and tidy boxes, ignoring their complexities, and symmetry;
"Scathing eyes ask that we be symmetrical, one sided and easily processed. Yet every misshapen spark's unseen beauty is greater than its would be judgement."
whether it be yang's asymmetric design, her eye color being a mix of her parents', or how yang embodies both stereotypical feminine and masculine traits, it's such a huge part of yang's character that ignoring one half of it and only focusing on the other is doing her major disservice.
and the same goes for her journey and development; yang started out largely aimless, only looking for adventure, helping people was just a nice bonus on the side. her only real goal was finding raven and getting answers she's been looking for, but that changed post-fall of beacon; now, she had a greater cause to follow to the point she was willing to let go of her potentially only chance of getting answers from raven. essentially, yang jumped from one end to another, never quite hitting that Just Right — but just like her anger issues, it's still an ongoing journey.
speaking of raven, this is where the counterparts come in, because raven has the same thing; we've been told a lot about raven, what she was like as a huntress vs the mask she wears as a bandit queen. two very different descriptions that are near impossible to find a middle ground for... but the show is asking you to do it anyway.
and if you think that was all, then sorry to say, but nope! there's more! because yang and raven's relationship follows the same pattern; it's starts "cold" which is to say it barely existed as they had never met face to face, but once they do, it turns "hot" with many emotions running high and neither of them getting what they really want. so perhaps the next time they meet, it will be a step in a right direction to finding that Just Right middle ground.
this got longer than i expected, but i find it really cool how... interwoven it all is. it really is like the writers are daring the audience to box them into something easily processed, to ignore major parts of their character due to how conflicting they seem. i mean, it would be so easy.
but you can't. you really, really can't. that would be like eating only half of the cake when you could eat it whole.

RAVEN: The truth is that “truth” is hard to come by. A story of victory for one person is a story of defeat for someone else. By now, your uncle has surely told Ruby and her friends plenty of stories.
[…]
RAVEN: Old man Oz has a great and terrible secret, one that could spread fear across the world, one that he eventually entrusted to our team. And once I knew, there was no going back. I needed to know more, but with every new discovery I made, the more horrifying the world became.
YANG: Okay, then tell us. What’s the big secret? What’s so crazy that the rest of us don’t know?
RAVEN: The creatures of grimm have a leader named Salem. She can’t be stopped, she can’t be reasoned with, and she will not rest until humanity crumbles at her feet.
[…]
YANG: Why should we believe any of this?
RAVEN: *Now* you’re catching on. So far you’ve done nothing but accept what others tell you, but you need to question everything.
+
“The Girl in the Tower” is unique among fairy tales in that it is the only one in which the protagonist is credited with penning their own story; the girl essentially writes herself out of danger. It is steeped in an awareness of the nature of fairy tales and, in a sense, its own status as one of them. As a metafiction, this tale more than any other in this collection demonstrates the power of stories to create reality and shape our destinies, and the subtle influence storytellers have over their audiences.
This is how propaganda works, of course. Arguably, every fable was originally told for a purpose, either overt or hidden. Some were designed to communicate a moral lesson or instruct children on how to behave, while others were meant as warnings or to persuade people into believing a certain thing. The girl in the tower shared a version of her story intended to elicit sympathy and motivate people to come to her aid—but in the process she also doomed many warriors to die in the attempt. Her story did not include the whole truth, and how much of it might have been false? One must always be prepared to think about and question everything they read or hear, especially if they are told that it is the absolute truth.
🤔
the first thing ozpin asks yang upon catching her and weiss up to speed on his version of the truth is if his narrative aligns with what raven told them, and excepting the bird thing it does; which is interesting because ozpin LIED. half of what he tells the kids in volume five is a provable lie and the remainder is suspect for having come from him—and the story raven fed weiss and yang after making a whole production of letting them in on the truth and flat out saying don’t take ANYTHING at face value perfectly corroborates ozpin’s.
but before yang left her camp, raven told her this: “I’m giving you a choice. Stay here, with me, and I’ll answer all your questions and more. We can have a fresh start. Or… you can go back to Qrow and join Ozpin’s impossible war against Salem, and meet the same fate as so many others. But can you really go back to trusting someone that’s kept so much from you?”
i—think the things she told them were a test. the very things ozpin told *team STRQ,* all those years ago, before raven began to search for answers on her own and discovered the truth was so much more horrifying than she knew. she presents this narrative to weiss and yang as if that’s the secret, and then praises them for demanding proof, for questioning—
and in doing so raven echoes ozpin’s commentary on the girl in the tower, thus becoming the narrative voice for the power-of-storytellers theme in the show proper, as it pertains to salem’s character; which in connection with the unknown of precisely what raven knows…
…i really do think she found out about the ultimatum somehow, and while the obvious source for that information is salem, raven puts SO MUCH emphasis on the implication that she went digging for information herself and… it is not… inconceivable that she might have learned by some other means. ozma has been remarkably successful at suppressing this inform—
wait. people still worship the brothers. (the only way this could have happened is if OZMA started it, in one of his lives. modern brother-worship was instigated BY HIM) “the two brothers” is a religious myth and the ultimatum an open secret. all raven would need to do is catch ozpin’s confirmation that the brothers are real and then read between the lines in order to start putting two and two together, and HOO BOY would that explain some things about why raven is the way she is, if she’s never spoken to salem and her perspective of the situation formed out of applying ozpin’s crumbs to myth and legends and fragments of history until she began to get a sense of the bigger picture. question everything indeed.
and—goddd if this is how it happened, her teammates probably would’ve taken it as raven spiraling into conspiracy theories because like… if she never spoke to salem she has no proof. tai saying she tore the team apart raven bitterly saying she said ozpin would fail, beacon would fall…
hm. HMMM.

I do have to agree with your confession about Volume 9 being the weakest.
It tries to hard at being "Symbolic", but the fact that even the confession between Yang and Blake had to be forced with death made it painfully obvious they were taking short cuts in writing. Couldn't have it be a simple talk under the stars? Had to do that? Are words so hard to say?
Every scene was kind of awkward. While the beginning was comedic and brought charm, the volume got more and more scene's that made people question some decisions.
I mean, we all know the one where Weiss and Yang were literal inches from Ruby, but they left her face down in the dirt. We all know what part of the fan base that awkward moment was directed at, and that's just mean, taking from the volume.
They see she's not fine, but efforts to do anything to help her were minimal. The scene from the Caterpillar smoke suggests everyone's now confident and strong, but the writers didn't allow them to let Ruby lean on them. When Yang was asking Ruby "Are you fine?", you could feel that Yang was restrained, wishing to do more, for the sake of the tea drinking scene.
That may be a characteristic thing for Ruby to not lean on people, but Weiss, Yang, and Blake know sadness and know it's not good to deal with it alone. Weiss had Klein, Blake had Sun, Yang had Tai. If the plot didn't need it, Ruby wouldn't have drunk the tea if her team was allowed to talk and comfort her. But ya know, writing decision of "none of them thought Ruby needed them."
Yang didn't confront her and stop her spiraling, which as Yang herself spiraled into depression after the fall of Beacon, you'd think she'd have experience with it.
Then characters felt absent from scenes even though they were right there in multiple instances, and all you have is 6-7 to work with, are you serious?
My worst gripe is Jaune tho. You're gonna blow up at Ruby, blaming her for everything, even though you know she's breaking right now. You're a grown ass man, and you're blaming a child for a village you've been trying to protect from itself, great to know you'll never mature.
And once again, the other 3 felt absent from this tantrum, who didn't interrupt it and let him continue yelling at the top of his lungs at Ruby. Forget what Neo did, in my opinion, she drank the tea because of Jaune.
And I wouldn't hate Jaune this much this volume of they simply acknowledge it. But no. Jaune gets the hugs, the reassurance, even after Ruby's "death". Come on Miles, you know better than to show favoritism for the character you voice.
This volume made it felt there was a lack of time to script, to focus group, to reconsider choices, to see if "that's what the character would do."
I know they wanted it to be special, and meaningful, and while I don't really care much about them the fact that they basically HAD to confess to solve the issue is that they didn't get to do it on their own. I know they wanted to end the series by having Bees be canon, but there were other ways to do imo, and like I said it just made me dislike canon bees because it showed that they focused essentially on only each other until Ruby drank the tea.
A very too little too late thing, and they don't seem to acknowledge that they got too caught up in each other or anything, and much like Ruby's mental issues are just kinda brushed aside.
We lose great storyboards of other partners who aren't bees interacting.
Tumblr media
You really don't even have to ship WR to see that they're supposed to be canon best friends, and a single scene like this is not too much to ask.
We got an entire episode basically devoted to the bees, and loooots of jaune time, but we can't get a single scene elsewhere in the series for something like this to give the girl partners a chance to, you know, interact, or be meaningful.
I know there were problems but they knew going into it that this was likely it, and had years to work on it. This volume is exceptionally rushed.
One of the biggest problems I have with the show is that it's named RWBY, and there's so much character bloat, and even among the named cast the team barely interacts outside of their partners.
Ruby, and Blake interact more in her imagination in the Emerald Forest and the first episode of IQD than they do in most of canon.
Weiss and Blake trade a few catty remarks for fun in atlas, and despite supposing to be deuteragonists JNPR is largely just Jaune.
We don't get scenes of Ruby, Jaune, Nora, and some of the others playing games. Ruby, and Ren baking as Nora awaits her feast. Blake having a book club with Ruby, Weiss, Pyrrha, and Ren, or even working out with Yang, Nora, and Pyrrha.
It makes the relationships feel kind of hollow, and now that WR apparently forgot they're partners for most of the last 3 volumes I mean it's just the bees show really, and as I said V9 showed me their worst side. If you wanted to convert me you failed miserably.
I realize that's unpopular because as long as team bees win it's perfect, but I don't care if people don't like my opinion.
The bees deserved better than a forced confession, like rwby deserved a proper non rushed ending. (also side note wasn't jax lobotomized in the novel? So why break him out?)
To bring back your point yes it is annoying they leave Ruby in the dirt. People were saying they left Ruby in the recovery position which you know great, but that's doing the writers job for them. It wouldn't have taken much for Weiss to fret, and put Ruby in the position, or Yang while they talk to the others. It's like a first draft that needed another run over.
I know in the white void Ruby's first instinct is to call for Weiss, and Yang, and yet again for the sake of making her speedrun a breakdown everything conveniently works against her.
There's a game called Evil Within. Sequel is fun, but the 1st game has a goal of getting to the lighthouse. The issue is that you're inside the mind of another person so one moment you can go from a forest with the lighthouse in the distance to a closed house, then a medieval battlefield, and so on.
Essentially there's no sense of progression, or rules you can really enforce because of the setting.
Ever After bothers me for that reason. I understand it's fantastical, but without some rules there's no sense of urgency, or weight, or stakes to whatever actions can happen.
Could they open a random door, and Salem be there sipping coffee? It's EA so why not?
Ruby's mental breakdown and suicide don't matter because it's EA.
Side note Weiss you have glyphs put one over the teacup so she can't drink it. Of course your sister could have also used one to catch you too as you fell so maybe forgetting you can do that is a family thing. Hmmm, thoughts for later.
Jaune isn't in a great headspace. I don't like that he yelled at Ruby, but I do understand him snapping after decades alone, and venting his frustration. I mean I get pissed if my cat knocks out the ethernet cable. I don't scream at it, but it didn't cost me 20 years worth of effort either.
My point being that I agree that one of Ruby's teammates, especially her partner should have stepped in at that point, and many others to protect Ruby, or each other, and they don't.
They're not a cohesive team anymore. They're Bees who care about each other, and if they can bother to remember the others then the others.
Weiss is adrift with no arc AT ALL, , and reduced to comedy. I hate it. We have seen time, and time again that Weiss will have hard talks and yet now of all times she just can't? Must be those darn ever after rules making her suddenly not talk at all.
Jaune's...idk him returning to normal is boring because the idea of him needing to meet and interact with new peers and his friends despite being older is interesting, and hey older jaune meeting older jess in the JL P2 would have been pretty neat to see.
If we ever get a V10 you can bet he'll go right back to being the same old Jaune except he might sometime say something wise and nora might mock his gray hair. Yay what a waste.
I still would have prefered Nora falling so she can learn who she is away from Ren and he from her then when she was reunited in V10 they could be ready for a relationship.
Plus Nora would be well used to wearing a happy + mask so she'd actually talk to ruby or get mad weiss or none of the others were.
I will also accept maria jumping down after Neo screaming round two bitch, and somehow getting the dagger, and turning young. This would also be acceptable and make just as much sense as anything else in Ever After. You know I have to work it in there. Bonus, she wouldn't accept Ruby acting like that, and would confront her on it.
If Maria can handle Neo then she can handle a moody Ruby.
At any rate I'm rambling but yes Ruby got a team hug, and came back basically the same as ever (for real give her a semblance upgrade or power up she's fighting what's close to a god) except she's more confident.
Neat.
I know there's no victory in strength, but there's only defeat in weakness too so I meeeeean.
Idk just me though. Prob why Vol 8 time travel or fix it fics are so common. Just an easy pathway into them.

Ozma & Ruby Parallels
Tumblr media
Been rewatching Volume 6-8 and I've found some parallels between the two
Notably with the two becoming heroes for righteous/heroic reasons
Jinn: The people of the lands knew him as Ozma.
Jinn: Unlike those who had come before, this warrior was not driven by the prize of the young maiden's hand. He fought only for righteousness, and his pure heart and courageous soul prevailed
Ruby:"As a girl, I wanted to be just like those heroes in the books... Someone who fought for what was right, and protected people who couldn't protect themselves!"
-Ruby to Blake
But felt conflicted with their choices not knowing if it's the best option
Ozma going along with Salem's plan of becoming "the new gods of this world" But part of him still feels uneasy
Ozma: (troubled) Are we sure this is right?
Salem: (looking over to Ozma) You said we needed to bring humanity together. In order to do that, we have to spread our word, and destroy those who will deny it.
Ozma gains a shocked expression on his face upon hearing these words. He turns to see his reflection on the window, which suddenly talks to him.Ozma: What are we doing?
Ozma reels back in horror seeing his reflection ask him that question before looking over to Salem.
Ruby's talk with Qrow where she points out that she doesn't know what is truly right for everyone
Ruby: (soft laugh) All of the above. I'm trying to do what I think is best, but I really can't tell if what's best is what's right, or if I'm no different from Oz.
The Two took risks in hiding the truth that it ultimately damaged certain connections they've made
Ruby hid the truth from Ironwood cuz she didn't believe giving him the full story will be the right option as people in Atlas aren't in the best conditions, same goes for the people in mantle plus Salem's immortality is just gonna install more fear.
Ozpin hid the truth about Salem from the World because similar to Ruby, he knew that truth will only expel despair into everyone as a whole and his main goal was mainly to defend the relics from Salem's grasp & help make a world that the gods could deem worthy of living.
By the end of Volume 8, Ruby and the gang realize that while Ozpin did commit a grave risk about Salem being unbeatable, they also had to take heavy risks to protect what they held dear(Blake/Yang trusting Robyn,Weiss trusting Willow/Whitley and Oscar/Ruby hiding the truth from Ironwood)
Fits into the whole theme of Trust within the Volume
Ruby herself didn't like how Ozpin wasn't being truthful from the start but she realized by now that the truth is a risk that everyone has take in the long run and you decide the outcome of that decision in the long run.
In a way this is probably why he was so invested in Ruby from the beginning of the series
Ruby was essentially a reminder of his former self from so long ago, someone who fought for what was right and had the ability to be honest to those around her.
"But perhaps victory is in the simpler things that you've long forgotten. Things that require a smaller, more honest soul"

welp someone put up a vid of the Puerto Rico RWBY panel, so I know what I’ll be watching for the next 50+ mins xD
Spoilers below the cut for at least 9x06:
2mins in and Barb did the joke about Blake and Yang being “just friends” in a mocking tone (cause fk the ignorants and homophobes, my words not hers) xD Also Arryn once again not being able to sit in her chair cause “bisexual” xD
Slowburn, figuring themselves out cause they’re teenagers, including who and what they like etc; y’know the exact things BB’ers have been saying about BB for years cause we knew.
Going to paraphrase the next bit cause really don’t want to transcribe the whole thing but:
“I know there’s a lot of people upset about Bla/cksun, but I feel like what happened is just what happens with teenagers...“ “...I feel Sun definitely really liked Blake, but I think Blake was going through such a thing at the time. Because of seeing her parents again and being so anxious and upset and disappointed in herself. So she wasn’t exactly focused on “love somebody” instead “let me love myself”, -Arryn about that side of things.
- Granted this is the VA speaking not the writers, but I do love that both Barb and Arryn lowkey gave a little ground for Yang following hetero norms, when looking at the boys but really focusing on Blake in the lead-up to their first talk.
- Lindsay when asked about songs in regards to the show going into “Mad World” cause of 9x08. They have to be having so much fun cause they’ve been wanting breakdown-Ruby for years.
- Lindsay mentioning it’s only to get better (in regards to rewarding to them seeing Ruby’s journey)
- Barb mentioning about the next two episodes being her “best episodes of all time” and that if you’ve been enjoying v9 then “just wait” excitedly; so adding to that hype train xD
- I think Arryn was essentially saying she enjoyed getting to basically get to play a longing Blake xD
- When asked what they’d each do if they had control over 1 episode and could whatever they want with it:
-ofc Kara is going with Weiss and Jaune together forever (she’s never giving up on White Knight) xD
     - Barb wants either a beach episode or a Yang working out scene to show her muscles (not said but her body language gives that impression xD)
     - Arryn wants that ^ but Blake in a corner watching thinking/saying “this is good” xD Also joking about filming it with a “this is for later” xD
     - Lindsay would do a party arc cause of how depressing v9 has gotten xD
- Kara struggles with Schnee-snow-shoe-shipping xD
- Barb mentioning voicing Jensen and spitting cause of the voice including “it was a very wet session” and Arryn did a “that’s what she said” joke xD
- Arryn ofc continuing with the RWBY x Fortnite
- Fav OP’s: Kara & Arryn = v1 (cause it’s the start and has a nostalgia to it);  Barb = v9; Lindsay v9 (and pointing out how it harkens back to the v2 OP “there’s a point where it bends, there’s a point where it breaks”)
- Lindsay getting all deserved praise for their work in 9x07 and 9x08; while Lindsay gave deserved praise to Miles.
- Brought up when responding to a question about the food fight in v2: Kara has now eaten swordfish; Barb can’t get over that Yang fisted 2 turkeys. And Barb ends up loading up food fight to see what food Blake used during it xD
-Confirmed that the scene Barb didn’t think she did “right” was indeed the BB scene.
All notes now done, since just finished the vid.
