I think the amputation scene is really where Cee and Ezra’s dynamic shifts.

I think he’s realized he cares for her (he wouldn’t have let the sater take her, he appreciates her help saving his life, he gives her the gun so she feels safe) and she realizes she trusts him (she met him in the tent rather than continue to wander around alone, she believes he wouldn’t have sold her to the sater, she gives him the gun back after this scene).
