When headcanoning Remus as a person of colour next to a white Sirius, be mindful that:

• Remus is not tall

• Sirius is not short

• Remus is not aloof or dominant

• Remus is not rude

• Sirius is not dainty. He was only skeletal during his time in Azkaban. He was emaciated, not a twink. He is not physically weak even when severely malnourished. He’s also a head taller than Peter, and utilises his tall stature to intimidate Snape. Harry mentions that he is tall multiple times in the series. Remus’ height is never mentioned, while James is stated to be tall, and Peter short. Use deductive reasoning to come to a conclusion.

• Remus isn’t overbearing physically in comparison to Sirius. There’s utterly no evidence for that whatsoever and changing that to make Sirius white, short and fem and Remus darker skinned, dominant, taller, buffer, is very, very weird.

being in the hp fandom is a constant cycle of regret. fanon wolfstar is a melting pot of racism and "queer positivity" that's circled all the way back around to extremely limiting ideals of (white) queerness. people who value canon characterizations and analysis either want to fuck jkr (openly bigoted) or are off-putting in their own special little way (often just less openly bigoted).

and like this makes sense, right. because the series and author themselves are built on a foundation of bigotry. so of course this would seep into the fandom. which is why i feel like it's so important, that if you're going to engage with extremely deeply and intrinsically problematic media, you have to be open to being held accountable for the way your engagement perpetuates harm. and perhaps think critically about why it offends and threatens you so much to see people speak on these subjects.

when people complain that criticizing racism in fandom makes them feel scrutinized and judged when they're just here to have fun and are trying their best and it's like well okay first of all, don't tell on yourself like that. second of all, these posts aren't FOR you? like if you're the type of person or shall i say demographic that can be comfortable with the casual, pervasive racism in fandom spaces then a) you're already in the majority, b) you don't need your comfort catered to because again. you are the majority. probably because people of color tend to be chased out of fandom spaces. and it should probably be more important to foster a space where fans don't have to worry they're going to be fetishized or condescended to or (micro)aggressed just to engage even MINIMALLY in fan spaces, than to care more about how you personally feel about acknowledging your part in perpetuating racism in those spaces.

I'm gonna be honest nowadays wolfstar and jegulus art is starting to look like it has the same characters- which is why it's getting hard to distinguish one from another. Just looked at jegulus art that I thought it was wolfstar. (I think it's bcs of the whole short white twink x big buff poc?)

It’s so hard to be a Wolfstar shipper here bc I ship the post POA adult Wolfstar. The „Two grieving friends finding comfort and love in eachother instead of being stuck in their memories and falling into depression. The two friends that are both outcasts of society one because of his lycanthropy and the other because of being wrongly imprisoned without a trail and currently on the run. The one where they learn to finally accept James’s and Lily’s death and help eachother recover, and try to help Harry along the way”

And all I see, all the time, is Marauders fandom Wolfstar. Which to be frank i hate. And it’s such a weird experience loving and hating a ship at the same time. But the marauders Wolfstar is just so different and just- shallow

Those two characters were downgraded to one of their personality traits, that isn’t even their MAIN/MOST RECOGNIZABLE personality trait. I barely even recognize that the marauders Remus and Sirius are supposed to be the same characters as Remus and Sirius in the book, because they are so fanon-iezd.

It’s even worse because literally the marauders era Wolfstar has barely any grounds to start at. Sirius and Remus weren’t very close, they were just friends, Sirius was much much closer with James.

Help I need some more post POA adult Wolfstar shippers that don’t ship marauders Wolfstar, if there are any pls interact I want to see y’all posts about it.

Highly problematic. Not ok to make canon White characters POC and then make POC aggressive, hyper-sexual, stereotyped. Other half of m/m ship waif-like, White, thin, femme. Rigid gender roles even in queer ship.
