I want to write a book with a "boring" character as a protaganist.
The one who enjoys reading, both nonfiction and fiction.
Who's quiet and is often dismissed and thought of as lesser because they aren't at the front lines, aren't throwing themselves at every battle and problem.
The one who has a plain personality, and often gets excluded for being boring. For not being exceptional and memorable.
A character who's disliked for being below average, not because they're a bad person, but because they just don't fit in.
A protaganist who's tolerated but no one cares about.
I want to write a protaganist like Bernard from Megamind.
I want to write a protaganist who doesn't suddenly become exceptional and thus liked. I want them to triumph, not because they get super powers, or because they get different hobbies or because they suddenly become "brave" and throw themselves at danger.
I want them to triumph because they cared about the little details, because they acted logically and because they did the boring work that everyone else dismissed in favor of the flashier picture.

Lost at Sea: A saga of seagulls.
Summary:
Julian is the king of a prosperous kingdom. Overwhelmed and tired of ruling, he decides to go on a luxury cruise for his 25th birthday, leaving his most trusted (and not so trusted) advisors in charge of the kingdom until his return. Unfortunately, a few days into his trip, a storm hits and he goes overboard, only to be rescued by some totally not cursed pirates, why would you think they are cursed?
Desperate to not be murdered, he makes up the identity of Jaskier, a bard/favoured courtier of King Julian, who would clearly pay these pirate ruffians very well to have him back.
Julian, now Jaskier, may be safe now, or as safe as you can be on the high monster invested seas, but is his heart? And when the time comes, will he be able to leave behind the freedom of Jaskier for the responsibility of Julian?

Oh. We're up by 500 words. ITS GREAT WRITING A CRACK FIC WITH A DRAMATIC CHARACTER ARE THE MAIN CHARACTER.
We're not even near the end interaction! My man still has to float around at sea a bit more and then have Dialogue tm, which also adds padding to the chapter. 2000 words here we come!
My chapter is only a thousand words but at least its a thousand words. I can add. I usually cap at 1500 at most chapters anyway, but this specific fic is for my friend who usually reads fics with 4500+ words per chapter. I know he likes the fic even if its not large chapters, but still want to make him a nice fic.
