Around this time 365 days ago, I was so nervous to be going into my debut year. I had deferred my masters, given up a whole other career path, and turned my love for writing into something I would be scrutinized and quantified for—all while I tried to break into a predominantly Western industry as a Filipino from the Global South. 2023 would determine whether this gamble paid off or failed spectacularly.

And now, on the very last day of the very last month, the verdict is in: This was the most amazing year of my life 🥰 From the bestseller and best-of lists, to the book signings across continents and the virtual events from my home to yours, I remain utterly gobsmacked and grateful. I devoured @theaguanzon 'The Hurricane Wars' and felt such an urge to draw some of my favourite passages from the book - here's Talasyn and Alaric on their wedding day 🥰

I loved the description of the Starlight Tower with the stained-glass ceiling, towering columns and dragon sculptures so this is my interpretation of that, although I must admit I didn't plan for it to be so pink 😅 the barbie part of my brain took over clearly ✨💅
