eregyrn-falls replied to your post: “btw I've decided that the tornado that takes Ford...”
huh. the idea of GF not being in Oregon is... discomforting to me.
lol yeah
the decision was made after discussing the fact that Oregon sees even fewer tornadoes than New Jersey. the whole AU revolves around storm chasing, so relocating Gravity Falls to an area where storm chasing may occur seemed like it would be a good idea.
esp bc there's some stuff that is currently in development in my head and on Discord re: what sort of role Bill Cipher may have in the AU. and that stuff requires severe storms (including tornadoes) to happen in Gravity Falls a lot.
(yes it is possible to keep Gravity Falls in Oregon and just have Gravity Falls be an anomaly in terms of how frequently it gets severe storms/tornadoes but then the Team would be there way more often and I wanna keep "Bill" from being found by Stan for five years)
I will say that Arkansas does have woods and mountains (Ozarks!) etc etc so while the vibes won't be the same as the show, the setting can still be similar to canon. just with hotter summers lmao.

oh btw also I changed my mind about how Stan and Angie get engaged in Storm Chasers AU
I saw an article about a storm chaser proposing to his girlfriend in front of a tornado
and that's now how Stan proposes to Angie in the Storm Chasers AU. he plans ahead for when they'll be out chasing and gets down on one knee while they're observing a tornado.
Angie loves it.

We had a Tornado Watch last night (we were fine) and there were some bonkers tornadoes that went through Nebraska on Friday. And well, my hand slipped.
———————————————————————————————————–
                 “You’re hired!”
“Really?” Angie asked eagerly, her eyes sparkling.  Stan nodded.  Angie clapped her hands.  “Oh, this is so excitin’!”
“It’s exciting for me, too, toots,” Stan said.
“Don’t call her that,” Fiddleford muttered from behind Stan.  Stan turned around in his chair.  Like he had been for the entirety of Angie’s interview, Fiddleford was slouched against the fridge, scowling at the two sitting at the dining table.  A kitchen was an odd place for a job interview, but at the McGucket farmstead, it was either that or the barn.  Stan had opted for the kitchen.
“Clearly, she doesn’t care,” Stan retorted.
“I still don’t think this is a good idea.”
“She’s the best person for the job.  I mean, I didn’t even know it was possible to get such high-quality pictures of tornadoes!”  He gestured towards the photographs Angie had provided as part of her application.  Angie blushed at the compliment.
“Ya had to get mighty close fer those photos, Angie,” Fiddleford said in a warning tone.  Angie crossed her arms.
“I know how to be safe ‘round storms,” she said firmly.  “It’s what I studied in school!  Quit bein’ an overprotective older brother.”  Fiddleford sighed.  He looked at Stan.
“Ya still ain’t done yer chores fer the day.”
“Yeah, yeah, get off my back,” Stan said, waving his hand.  “I’ll go do ‘em now.”  Fiddleford and Stan were allowed to stay at the McGucket home when they weren’t out chasing storms, but had to help out around the farm and house in exchange.  Stan had put off his chores in favor of preparing for Angie’s interview.  He got up and headed for the front door.  As he pulled on his boots, he could hear the siblings talking.
“The two of ya had a meteorologist on yer team before, right?” Angie asked.
“…Yes,” Fiddleford replied softly.  Stan closed his eyes.  The image of Ford, his feet leaving the ground, reaching out for help, before disappearing into a rain-wrapped vortex, flashed in his mind.
                 “What happened?”
“He passed away while chasin’ a twister.”
“Oh, no!  Were the three of ya close?”
“Yes, we were.  Stanford, he was actually Stan’s twin brother.”
                 “Oh…” Angie whispered.
“So’s ya can see why I’m reluctant to have ya join us.  I don’t want ya to meet yer end in a storm like Stanford did,” Fiddleford said solemnly.  Stan squared his shoulders.
All right, that’s it.  He stormed into the kitchen.
“Ford’s not dead,” he snarled.  Fiddleford merely looked at him tiredly.
                 “Stan…”
“He’s not dead!  There- we never found a body, or- or clothes or-”
“The tornado what went through Guin was an F5!” Fiddleford snapped.  “An F5 took Stanford away!”  He looked at Angie.  “Angie, what likelihood is there of survivin’ bein’ picked up by an F5 tornado?”  Angie looked down at her feet.
“About as close as ya can get to zero,” she mumbled.
“And would they find a body or clothes?”
“It- I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t.”
“What does she know?  She wasn’t there!” Stan snarled.  “And anyways, he’s my twin!”  He pounded his chest.  “I would know if my twin was- was-”
“Oh, please.  The two of ya never had any sort of magical twin connection,” Fiddleford said.  Stan opened his mouth.  “And ‘fore ya try to argue with me more, maybe try to think ‘bout the fact I miss him just as much as you do.  Sure, we weren’t twins, but Stanford and I were ‘bout as close as we could be without bein’ brothers.”  Stan deflated.  He wasn’t the only person combing through the debris with growing desperation on April 3rd.  Fiddleford had been right by his side.
“Yeah.  I know.”  Stan shoved his hands into his pockets.  “I’m- I’m gonna go do my chores now.”
Angie found him in the barn fifteen minutes later, aggressively scattering straw.  She sat on one of the hay bales and watched silently for a few moments.  Stan slammed his pitchfork into a pile of straw and looked at her.
“Did you need something?” he asked.  Angie played with her hands.
“I- I just wanted to say I’m awful sorry fer what happened to yer brother.  It sounds horrible.”
                 “It was.”
                 “I can imagine.”
“No, you can’t,” Stan said shortly.  Angie’s eyes widened.  Stan sighed.
You just hired her to be the new team meteorologist.  Back off.
“It’s just-”  Stan shook his head.  “You- you really can’t imagine what it was like.  I was there.  I saw the tornado take him.  He was- he was only a few feet away, and I couldn’t get him in time.”
“If you tried to get him, you would’ve been taken, too,” Angie said softly.
“I know.  Doesn’t make the guilt any better.”
“If ya don’t mind me askin’,” Angie said hesitantly, “how did were ya so close without bein’ taken by the twister, too?”  Stan shrugged.
“Tornadoes gotta end somewhere.”  He sat on the hay bale next to Angie.  “Ford and I, we were chasing an outbreak in Alabama at night.  You can usually tell when a tornado is close by.  They’re big and loud.  But it was dark and raining.  We couldn’t hear it, couldn’t see it.  We didn’t even know it was on top of us until our vehicle was thrown into a tree.  We both got out of the car and-”  Stan’s throat choked up.  He coughed.  “I was just far enough away that I didn’t get picked up.  Ford wasn’t so lucky.  The wind grabbed him.  One second he was there, the next he was gone.  I wanted to go after him, but the tree our car got wrapped around fell.  I was trapped under it until firefighters rescued me.”
“Oh, goodness,” Angie breathed.  Her eyes had grown gradually wider as Stan’s story went on.  She placed a hand on Stan’s knee.  “That’s terrible.”
“We never found a body or-”  Bile rose in Stan’s throat.  “-or pieces of a body.  Or clothes or-”  He took a steadying breath.  “I know what you’re thinking.  That there’s no way he’s still alive.  Just ‘cause there wasn’t a body doesn’t mean he isn’t dead.  But I know he’s alive.  I know he is.  I don’t care what Fiddleford thinks.”
“Fiddleford often thinks the worst,” Angie said quietly.
“Yeah.  And then he makes robots over it.”  Stan eyed Angie.  “By the way, you’re not allowed to get hurt ever during a chase.  Fiddleford will kill me.  Probably with a robot he made from tin cans and paperclips.”  With the mood lightened, Angie chuckled.
“I promise I’ll do my best to stay safe.”  The barn door slammed open.  Stan and Angie looked over.  Fiddleford stood in the doorway, disheveled.
“Just got word of a potential supercell ‘bout an hour away,” he blurted out.  Stan raised an eyebrow at Angie.
“Wanna go on your first chase?” he asked.
                 Angie grinned.

btw I've decided that the tornado that takes Ford away in Storm Chasers AU is the F5 Guin, Alabama tornado from the 1974 Super Outbreak.
how does he wind up in Gravity Falls if he was taken by a tornado in Alabama? well, on the Discord we decided to relocate Gravity Falls to Arkansas, which is, of course, closer. and I'll just say that like, idk, some updrafts or something carried him the rest of the way after the tornado dissipated.
supernatural updrafts.

Exclusive: Discworld TTRPG in the works by studio behind Fallout wargames
Modiphius, the studio responsible for tabletop adaptations of Star Trek, Fallout, and more, is working on a Discworld TTRPG.
Having secured the rights to the beloved series with an agreement from the late author Sir Terry Pratchett's estate, Modiphius is already at work on a Discworld roleplaying game "around the city of Ankh-Morpork and the wider Disc." This will hit Kickstarter later in the year.

Reblogs greatly encouraged!
What's this? A little calendar teaser and update for everyone??
You betcha! We're getting close, so here are the facts so far:
Calendars will likely be up for pre-order in June/July.
Since they are for 24 months, they will likely be $20-$30 USD.
The charity we'll be donating to this year is A New Way of Life Reentry Project, who provide housing, case management, pro bono legal services, advocacy, and leadership development for people rebuilding their lives after incarceration.
I'm hoping to do a run of 500 calendars!
I'm basing that number off the previous poll I did about the mullet!Stan calendar, so I'm hoping there will actually be that many folks purchasing it. But that's where you come in. YES YOU! In order to make this calendar a success (and to ensure I don't end up with 300 of them taking up space in my house), I need all of you to be sure you reblog this post, share links on other social media sites, and generally do whatever you can to spread the word.
I have faith we can make this happen!

As with the horse poll, please regard these options as sliders. The extent to which each one deviates from 1/6th of the total will determine the amount that canine aspect deviates from the "average."
I will draw the dog we make. :)
