the thing about CC is that she did plagiarize. she was found guilty of plagiarism and banned from fanfiction dot net! she plagiarized pamela dean, among others, and lied about it repeatedly! it happened! and regardless of whatever else she writes, regardless of whether the publishing industry and her fans trust her not to do it again, regardless of how many times her wikipedia page gets scrubbed clean, that will always have happened! so it is not in fact cruel gossip, but a factually true statement, to say that she plagiarized and i'm not interested in supporting her or giving her the benefit of the doubt because she plagiarized and lied about it repeatedly! fuck!

"I hate how American media will just make up a European nation rather than do any research, so I'm going to get back at them by writing a story set in a fake American state" like, do you have the slightest idea how much American media is set in a geographically impossible fictional small town located in no particular state and characterised entirely by some guy from Los Angeles' collection of half-remembered stereotypes about the American Midwest? They've already got the "badly inventing fictional parts of America" bit locked down.
No, if you want to play the Uno reverse card on American media, what you need to do isn't to make up a fake state: you specifically need to wilfully misrepresent southern California.

My brother and I have this thing where sometimes we forget that we live with our parents and we’ll say “my lawyer has advised me not to finish this joke/anecdote” to stop from saying something untoward in front of them and the other day we were talking about sandwiches and fluffernutters came up and I started to say “fluffernutter? I don’t even know her!” But my dad leaned over and goes your lawyer is advising you not to finish this joke at the dinner table” and it was really funny

sometimes I wish I had ed sheeran’s phone number just so I could call him up and say SIMILES ARE GENERALLY ONLY WORTHWHILE IF THEY ADD SOMETHING TO AN IDEA. RECOGNISING THAT 2 THINGS CAN HAVE A COMMONALITY IN A VERY VAGUE WAY DOES NOT MEAN IT’S USEFUL TO REFERENCE IT. SEE: FACES CRUMBLING LIKE PASTRIES. IS SHE A BAKER? DOES SHE ENJOY A GOOD CROISSANT? IS THIS REFERENCED ANYWHERE ELSE IN THE PIECE? IF YOU ANSWER ‘NO’ TO ONE OR ALL OF THE ABOVE, DO NOT PASS GO, DO NOT COLLECT $200 OR A BRIT AWARD.

No, I cannot honestly say that I "would do the same thing if I were in (villain)'s position," not because I think I'm inherently a better person than they are but because my neuroses lean toward the opposite extreme.
I may very well have done something just as bad, it just wouldn't have been that.

TIL anyone who's going to overwinter in Antarctica has to have had their appendix out. Because removing an appendix that's not causing any trouble just as a precaution is way better than having one that's about to burst when you're on the ass-end of the planet with no way to be rushed to a hospital if shit gets real.
