I think "they don't even have X" is one of those memes that's actually funnier in its original context than in anything that's been done with it subsequently. Like, in its original context, this is a joke about a man who has lived his entire adult life alone in a swamp cold-reading the atmosphere of a corporate workplace and deciding that appealing to the receptionist's sense of working-class solidarity is going to get him in the door, and it fucking works.

We've been having too much fun lately, and now it is time to suffer. Not only am I pulling out the king of suffering, but it's also his last scheduled performance (March 10) and therefore what everyone understood to be his final time on stage as the Phantom (before things got all crazy at closing time!). There may be no survivors.

In all seriousness, though, Ted is a longtime fan favorite, and this will be really special.

Amazon Prime Video has just announced that their new Batman: Caped Crusader animated series will premiere on August the 1st, 2024. A continuation of the beloved Batman: The Animated Series, we are all looking forward to seeing this short series. Producers J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm have teamed up with Ed Brubaker, James Tucker, Daniel Pipski, Rachel Rusch Rich, and Sam Register to expand the mythology developed in their Batman: The Animated Series. With only ten episodes in this new series, we will get to fall in love with a new world and dynamic art style all over again. The logline for this new series reads: “Welcome to Gotham City, where the corrupt outnumber the good, criminals run rampant and law-abiding citizens live in a constant state of fear. Forged in the fire of tragedy, wealthy socialite Bruce Wayne becomes something both more and less than human—the BATMAN. His one-man crusade for justice attracts unexpected allies within the GCPD and City Hall, but his heroic actions spawn deadly, unforeseen ramifications.” [gallery type=“single-slider” columns=“5” size=“large” ids=“190128,190130,190131,190132,190133”] Last year, Prime Video placed a two-season order on Caped Crusader after it was scrapped by HBO Max. Originally airing from 1992 to 1995 on Fox Kids, The original run of Batman: The Animated Series ran for 85 episodes and received multiple Daytime Emmy Awards and a Primetime Emmy Award. It then became The New Adventures Of Batman (running until 1998) but continued in the same timeline, with re-designed costumes and characters, and a brand new Bat Family, including a grown-up Dick Grayson as Nightwing, and Tim Drake’s Robin. Phantom has returned to Yokohama, opening on April 23, 2024 at the Kanagawa Arts Theatre Hall. The musical will perform there until August 11. Last visit to Yokohama was in 2017, so it is a welcome return!

The Phantom of the Empire (Turning Tydes Theater Company, 2017, 1 hour)

"Phantales" Easter charity benefit show (Phantom Sydney cast, 1994, 1.5 hours)

Since stream night falls on May the Fourth this year, it seemed appropriate to watch something Star Wars! "The Phantom of the Empire," written and performed by a small theater company in San Diego, is a SW parody featuring the music from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical. It's fun and silly and only an hour long.

"Phantales" is one of the Sydney Phantom cast's annual Easter benefit shows, featuring parodies of other songs and shows, and is surprisingly good quality for 1994! (h/t to @phantoonsoftheopera for both shows!)
