Pls I too hate Matlab, it just gets on my nerve when the simulations are not millimeter perfect, and Matlab does just that.

As someone who was trained and taught to run all simulations and do all analysis in python (+ pandas, beloved), matlab is akin to a sensory nightmare. Why are ten things screaming at me. Why do i have spreadsheets. What happened to a simple coding environment. Technology has gone too far.

lately on twt I’ve been seeing people react to the fan accounts that constantly post charles when he's in monaco in a very critical way to the point where people are admitting that they rather not see him at all if this is how they get a glimpse of him and by this I mean getting photographed every single time he’s out and about in monaco. which makes me thinks surely it hasn't been this bad before has it? and with you saying that charles can very well hide himself from the fans/being photographed in monaco if he really really wants to, it makes me wonder if there's some bigger reason to all this? also all the times he’s been photographed, he is always with alexandra and I do agree with your take that there seems to be some sort of pr agreement in that relationship, but it feels a little tooo staged for the past couple of weeks

I feel like this is a bit of a minefield ask to answer, but let's go!

Alright, I think it's tricky with Charles. He's definitely gained more popularity recently, which explains that there have been even more photographs and videos of him recently. As I've said in another post, Charles is always going to get more attention in Monaco than any other driver. At this point, he's a local landmark and people are coming to Monaco specifically to see him. Like, when people see his car parked, they're going to wait, no matter the hour, to see him come outside and go to this car again, and such.

On the other hand, we also know he's a flashier person than others. We know that Max, for example, hates being recognised and has normal cars you wouldn't be able to connect with him. Also, with all due respect, but many of the drivers aren't even that recognisable to begin with, if that makes sense.

Charles, of course, has his custom cars you would recognise everywhere. It's part of who he is, it clearly is something he enjoys having. I don't think we should have even ever gotten to this point where we need to discuss whether he needs to sacrifice something he wants and has every right to have to not be followed and recognised by fans. He shouldn't have to find ways to not be seen by fans when he just wants to have a day out with his friends and family.

It really bothers me as a concept that he would have to change his lifestyle (and some changes will be inevitable) to feel safe and at peace. I think people often are forgetting that all drivers living in Monaco have a home to go to – he doesn't. This literally is his home, and people have turned it into a zoo. It doesn't even cross people's minds that you don't need a selfie with Charles, you don't need to ask him to sign something, you don't need to take a video of him when you see him. People believe they're entitled to his time and attention.

That said, yes, I still believe that to a degree, many of his recent appearances around the square are planned. Like, obviously he seems to enjoy attention more than Max, for example. But when he's in Monaco, it's fairly typical for Charles to be seen on one day, and then basically disappear for the rest of the time he's there. So it might be something of his usual "trade-off" in the hope to get it all out at once, and we obviously have no idea what they're doing as a couple otherwise, nor is it our business.

Anyway, some of the stuff I've seen online is just... like, I'm not going to always defend Charles blindly, and I think it's always good to have some critical thinking when celebrities are involved. But people online saying they're comfortable enough to release private images just to teach Charles a lesson? Certain pages even encouraging this, and not shutting these people down immediately? Unfortunately, social media has lead people to believe that we need to know what's going on in everyone's lives. I'm sure you'll be okay not seeing Charles – or any other driver – on his holiday or day off; unless they want to share it with you. Reminds me of last summer (and before), too, when everyone was sharing paps pictures of Max everywhere. I don't care if he looked good in them, if these pictures didn't come from him, or were taken during an official event, I don't need to see him.

Everyone needs to take a step back, take a deep breath in and re-assess their priorities. We don't know these people, we shouldn't know what these people are doing when they're not working, we're not entitled to anything, and we absolutely have no right to get involved in their lives.

max is so obsessed with the inchident because it’s his ONE piece of solid evidence that charles is a grade A track terror who gets away with things via a pretty smile and good PR leaving the victim (usually max) to shoulder the blame

It's always so funny to me because if you just look at current lestappen you seemingly have sweet angel - faced pr princess Charles and then supposedly aggressive mad Max, who's terrible but has a soft spot for Charles and has "calmed down in recent years" and if anything Charles befriended Max rather than the opposite.

But if you actually look at their history and personalities you realise that Max is a bit of a socially - awkward person who just wanted to befriend Charles and believed in their shared success, while Charles is a terror that was thinking up 500 different ways to be rid of Max before reaching 18

Max is much better than me because if I’d spent my youth being outwardly terrorised by this close to feral opponent who I still maintained great respect and admiration for only for a great PR campaign to be run to make it seem like it was the OPPOSITE growing up I would probably bite something.

its been a year since the "inchident" and tensions are still high on track... just two races earlier, max is forced to retire after pushing charles into the grass so hard that it causes his already struggling gearbox to fail. charles' team, artgp, decries the maneuver on track as "unfair" via a press release titled "ART Grand Prix stronger than adversities". (meanwhile, charles' fansite decides uses slightly more flavorful language in its own race summary... describing the move as "incomprehensible," simply scandalous" and "shameful" while appealing for officials to do a better job of penalizing dangerous moves. max's site ignores the race entirely, leaving no summary to memorialize his team's take on what happened in sarno. it makes sense: its a lone bad race for the dutch driver in an otherwise dominant season.)

ironically, the cik-fia would start the next race weekend the two attended in wackersdorf with a conversation to all competitors about sportsmanlike behavior.

things may not be as dire as they originally seem, however. charles and max might be ignoring each other on the podium, but they're still friends on facebook: max apparently leaves a comment-- deleted as part of his early f1 social media account purge-- on charles' post about the race.
