Norrie and Lucy both had friendship bracelets they made each other while they had free time on jobs (you know the ones you make at summer camp with all the knots that takes FOREVER to make) Lucy's bracelet has two shades of blue (one light one dark) and purple. Norries is yellow white and green.

They both tied the bracelets onto the others wrist once they were finished. A promise to each other that they were going to last, tight enough that the only way to get it off is to cut it.

Norrie still has hers, fairly beat up in her ghost locked state but still holding on strong.

Lucy on the other hand lost hers on a job one night during her first week in London.

When she realized it was gone she was in the shower after a job. She had locked herself in her room for the next few days, refusing to see anyone, refusing to eat any of the trays Lockwood tried to bring up and the boys had no idea why. No idea until one day months later after the bone glass Lucy walks up to them one morning without a word and ties a poorly knotted bracelet around each of their wrists. George's is orange, red and pink and Lockwoods is teal, grey, and purple. They didn't understand it at first, Lockwood moaned that it clashed with his outfits; and jewelry had always bugged George, he said that it got in the way.

It wasn't until Lockwood caught her making her own in the garden one sunny morning spending hours tying tedious knots one color after the other that he understood. He looked at the bracelet on his right wrist and realized that this scrap of embroidery thread represented a promise. One of persistence, one of patience, one of a future where all that time and love that was put into it was paid back tenfold.

Lockwood never complained about his again after what he saw, and while George still complained about his he resolutely refuses to cut his off.

Lucy wears a new bracelet on her wrist now, four to be exact. They get caught on all the wrong things and take forever to dry after a shower but she refuses to take them off until they break.

Thoughts on Episode 3:

Okay so I’ve recovered from the trainwreck which was today’s clip.

I get being awkward around your crush and I actually didn’t mind their conversacion before the incident but how about…seeing any sort of social cues?!

For the big feminist that Mailin portrays herself as, how about asking for consent?! It doesn’t always have to be verbal if both parties obviously want to or have at least some sort of eye contact but that was just not okay.

I pray hope that the show will at least take this and go with the message that asking for consent is something all genders should do, not just guys. But honestly, I don’t expect them to.

Oh well, what a ride…

Thoughts on Clip 3:

Now that seemed like a clip with a lot of foreshadowing.

I get Mailin’s frustration about having to study texts that portray outdated ideas of women. I graduate next year and as someone who also made the brillant mistake of choosing „Deutsch-Leistungskurs“ I practically only read sh*t like this. However, she really didn’t read the room? Her friends were exhausted after a long exam and coming at them for not mentioning the sexism or putting the focus on it that hard was just unnecessary? Also, considering how diverse her friend group is and how much a lot of them probably had to struggle with social injustice made her comments seem sort of tone deaf? I’m just confused at this point how we’re supposed to see her actions right now, is she supposed to be in the right?

Also, these looks that Finn gave Mailin seemed a bit forced. Maybe because for me, that storyline comes completely out of the blue. When I look at Finn I just don’t want him to be reduced to a love interest anymore. We had enough of that in season 5 and 6 and just as we saw more of him in the new combination with Josh it seems like they want to force him back into it. At least we’ll definitely see more of him this season, so that’s a win.

Thoughts on Clip 2:

Well I think it was sort of a filler clip so there isn’t much to say really.

It’s interesting that we haven’t seen this boyfriend of her mom on screen, at least not his face. It’s a nice way to show the lack of a connection he has with Mailin. He really didn’t care when she said she had to study.

And it’s actually nice to see that Mailin isn’t 100% cool with the fancy lifestyle of her mom. They don’t seem to have a difficult relationship but it’s still a change from Isi’s picture-perfect family last season.

Also liked the subtle hint of asexuality in the end with the sex toy. I just hope that if they do decide to go that route, they actually put a name on it and don’t just talk around the subject like last season with Isi.

Thoughts on Clip 1 of Mailin’s season:

Okay I have to admit: I wasn’t really looking forward to this clip or her season in general.

However I’m actually really happy about this clip. As a demisexual who’s never been in a relationship, it was crazy how much I was able to relate to her. Sitting there while your friends talk about something you have no experience of (and maybe also don’t feel the need for) can make you feel really stupid or awkward, like there’s something wrong with you.

Hopefully they go the route of showing her somewhere on the asexual spectrum as I crave the representation so much (especially in german television!)

Also I have to mention the Cashqueens! Loved especially Nora’s and Ava’s looks!
