it’s then, leon realized, that you were one of the most beautiful creatures he’s ever seen.

in a seedy bar somewhere off the main strip, after a long day of working his ass off to keep the monsters at bay and the people safe, he’s had a few drinks. he’s not a light weight, by any means, but it’s enough to make him feel lighter than air and more confident than usual. which was how he ended up practically glued to your side, hands resting gently against the curve of your hip and chin resting on your shoulder.

somewhere in front of the pair of you, chris was currently locked in an arm wrestling contest with some random bar hopper that had decided the big guy was a good enough challenge for him—and chris didn’t like backing down from anything.

“he’s not gonna stop,” you murmured softly, head tilting towards leon conspiratorially and he felt the ghost of your breath against his cheek, “unless we manage to wrangle him from the bar.”

he made a noise, something to show disinterest because words were failing him and he didn’t want to do anything if it meant leaving the warmth of you. instead of offering you a response, he buried his nose into the curve of your neck and into the joint where your neck met your shoulder—enjoyed the way you shudder as he presses his lips against the spot.

“oi!” chris’s voice raised against the din of the bar, laughter bouncing against the walls and the sounds of glass pints clinking, “lovebirds, quit making out and come tell this newbie he’s an idiot for challenging me!”

“eat ass, chris.” your hand flew up automatically, middle finger raised to combat the man sticking his tongue out at you. for being so old, he sure lacked maturity.

turning your head, leon smiled when he felt your lips press against his temple softly. his heart was full and he thought, as he watched chris lob an ice cube across the room in a perfect arc to hit you almost square in the face, that he was going to marry you. as soon as things cleared up, calmed down in any sort of capacity, he wanted to slide a ring on your finger and settle down—maybe adopt a dog or two, have a few kids running around.

he wasn’t sure if life would ever be calm enough, but he was sure that you’d be with him at every step.
