Always, My Queen || Regina & Daniel

Daniel lifted his head, eyes narrowed and brow creased. Something had changed. Shifted in the air. He could feel it. Tentatively, he stood, making his way to the front door and cautiously, he pushed it open. 'Be careful Daniel. This has happened before'. Only once, months ago, had the front door opened. But he hadn't been able to leave the front porch. 

Slowly, he stepped down the front steps, touching soil beneath him and breathing a sigh of relief, laughing in to the air. The curse was broken! 

Daniel froze, eyes wide as he turned to stare in the direction he knew the town resided. 'Regina!' Taking off, Daniel ran as fast as he could, thankful he had maintained his stamina, his fitness, everything a good stable boy required. He refused to slow down, making his way through the town only to find a mob of angry people just ahead of him. 'Oh no.' He knew they would be after her. Though he had little knowledge of why, he just knew something was wrong. And Regina was in danger. 

Rounding the fence her pushed his way through the crowd, finding his Regina forced against the pillar of her home. Growling menacingly, or as best he could, he grabbed the man by the collar of his neck and pulled him back, sidestepping him and moving to stand in front of Regina. "Back. Away. Now." He demanded, arms lifted slightly in protection of the woman he had loved for so long now.

Finally. Finally he could enter the town he'd been watching for so long. He'd been stuck, on the other side of the line, with little to no chance of ever being able to cross over. Yet, he could see everything, watch everything. And not be seen. It was chaos and maddening, to the point that Daniel just wanted to scream. He'd come across Jefferson, just at the town line, but he wasn't any help. He couldn't go in either. 

Until now. Wandering through the town, jacket zipped up and the collar flipped upwards against his neck, he kept his head down as he walked through the town. He didn't know what he was supposed to do now. He had no idea what happened to him, to bring him here before everyone else, but from what he remembers, Cora had taken his heart and he was being held in Regina's arms. And then he was here. 

Maybe he should look for Regina. Or maybe he should -

Daniel groaned as he ran in to someone, shaking his head as he looked up, preparing to apologize when he found himself face to face with someone he hadn't seen in a very, very long time. Blinking in disbelief, he nodded. "I, yes. It's me. I..." Smiling widely, he laughed. "Alex? Little Lexi?!"

Alex sighed as she walked down the street. She shoved her hands in her pockets and tried her best to ignore the stares. That was the worst part about being well known and having well known family, you couldn’t go anywhere without getting stared at.

So intent on getting out of there, she didn’t notice when she walked into somebody. She let out a yelp and stepped back, prepared to take her frustration out on the unlucky soul who bumped her, when her eyes caught the familiar ones in front of her. He was older, definitely older, but the same kind eyes looked back at her. She brought her hand up to cover her mouth as unwanted tears flooded her eyes. “Oh my God,” she whispered, “Daniel? Is that really you?”
