Hearing Jemma say “our future” so casually made Fitz feel as though he’d been shot out of a cannon. There were so many implications in those two words: a wedding, a house, pets, perhaps children all as they grew old together. In short, the trappings of a life. There was no one he’d rather share that with more than Jemma and he was smiling as he tucked her under his chin. Still, there were other things to consider before they could get to that. 

“I should apologize t’ Bobbi,” he whispered. “When she’s ready t’ speak t’ me again, that is. I was angry but that’s no excuse. That’s your best friend. She’s not goin’ anywhere.”

Jemma winced. No, that hadn’t been good. “Bobbi likes to hold grudges, but… I don’t think she’s really mad at you. Not really. She’s mostly worried about me.” She paused. “But you may have to do some groveling. Best to ask Hunter for some tips.”

Jemma wouldn’t have believed it if she’d told herself two weeks ago, but the situation at S.H.I.E.L.D. had only gone from bad to worse.

The Jemma of several weeks ago thought things were as terrible as they could get. Trip had died, and Skye was given powers none of them understood. But then Skye was whisked away to parts unknown, ‘real S.H.I.E.L.D.’ took over, and now they were embroiled in a war with a force of powered humans led by Skye’s mother, who had taken control of the aircraft carrier that served as Gonzales’ headquarters. Worse yet, Bobbi had been kidnapped and tortured by Ward and his girlfriend Kara.

Girlfriend. Jemma shuddered to think of Ward as having anything approaching a real relationship with the other woman. Ward wasn’t capable of love. Certainly nothing like what she had with Fitz, which was… well, she didn’t know what it was at the moment. They hadn’t had time to talk about it. But it was real, of that much she was certain, and it was genuine. After everything they’d gone through, Fitz had decided to open up his heart to her again. She could feel nothing but joy and gratitude in return. They’d spent the last couple of nights sleeping curled around each other in her bed. It was the only thing tethering her to sanity at present and she was mostly sure Fitz felt the same.

"why do we even have that lever" is made funnier by the fact there are only 2 levers to begin with (disguised as a pair of tusks on a statue)

i find the implications hilarious:

kronk only had to remember the location of one lever, and couldn't even manage that

but on the other hand, it's easy to get two identical unlabelled levers confused, this one's on yzma tbh

yzma only needed to make one lever to begin with, but she actively chose to turn the second tusk into a functioning trapdoor. she could have just...just not connected the second tusk to anything. it didn't need to have a function

upon reflection, this also answers the question itself: "why do we even HAVE that lever?" it's because yzma herself specifically designed it as a booby trap. "why do we have that lever?" because yzma had it built to keep people out of her secret lair! yzma made the very purposeful choice to put that lever there! and then both she and her inept henchman immediately forgot about her own booby trap! yzma that is YOUR LEVER!!!!!
