I dont know if this is the exact one, but all of DJ Conway's books I've read have this(or somthing very similar) in it lol
how to organize your altar
Tumblr media
this is just one of the many ways to organize an altar, there is no one specific way of setting up your sacred space this is just an example of an altar to inspire or to reference

@teawitch I definitely think it is, the chandelier is kind of just an amorphous blob, there are little shadow-nothings in corners here and there, and the trees in the window VS the hillside look like radically different biomes

Chopsticks cant be stuck straight up in things. It's probably a cultural thing, I know a lot of people in Japan have the same etiquette. But grandma REALLY would not let any of us do it as kids and told us it was serious bad luck to do. Still cant do it or let anyone I'm eating with do it
I have a fun little discussion topic. What superstition or tiny rule are you ride or die for? For me i am a STICKLER to clockwise to create counterclockwise to destroy in my own practice

Regular button mushrooms I use in food/kitchen witchcraft as a "prolific" boost. Like if a stew/sauce is meant to be for prosperity, the mushrooms boost it to "prolific prosperity."
All mushrooms are good for grounding (mushroom tea honestly doesnt taste great but it is good for when I need to level down).
Shitake mushrooms I use for inspiration and determination. Grandma used to make us sukiyaki (a kind of Japanese hot pot) when we were having writers block/having trouble with inspiration, and it was always chock full of shiitakes
hi mama brie, what are some examples of mushrooms being used for magickal purposes besides fairy work? i've been searching for ages for something but can't find much. xx
You know, I'm not sure. I don't use mushrooms much myself except in cooking.
Mushroom witches, any suggestions?

Feel the same way about a friend's roommates. They are both very sweet people and I dont interact with them a lot but they have some only sort of correct practices and the very white woman has mats she wants to pretend are dreads. 🤦‍♂️
Learning when to bite tongue and gently try to give better resources is such a debate with me every time, I feel like I'm doing a dance
Our newest employee (who is actually a re-hire from years past) is a nice person and magic practitioner, but very much the sort of person who will just add concepts to her belief system without ever looking into their historical roots, so now I'm having to politely bite my tongue so as not to go off about Blavatsky at work.

Me: logically, a small, compact grimoire is both more available and more useful. It will be easier to travel with, it will take up less space, it will be easier to write in. And there are so many pretty journals out there that I can utilize!
Me: BIG TOME MAKE BRAIN GO BRRRRRR

I really wish people more clearly understood the point of "cultural appropriation" instead of just. "Oh no that's not my culture no one can ever touch it." There is a firm difference between "this is an aesthetic/artistic aspect of this culture that we should credit and support the creators of origin for" vs "this is a spiritual/culturally important aspect of our people that people not us shouldn't use or should only use correctly."
Yoga/chakra/Buddhism/Hinduism is not a closed thing so you CAN do it, but no one on the western world does it correctly. Thunderbirds are not for you. Your hair is not the correct type to make locs properly (curly/kinky hair locks together and trying to make dreads when it's not just makes matted hair). Some stuff isn't for you, some can be but you have to do it correctly and study the source and not Nina McWhiteyWhite.
Appreciate art, support art from native sources. Stop tromping on sacred aspects that arent yours to use. It is not rocket science.
white people please just purchase native artwork and jewelry from native people i keep seeing idiot white people be like “waaah i wish i could support native creators but its cultural appropriation” girl why would beaders sell you their earrings then. just dont get a medicine wheel or a thunderbird then like damn it is that easy

Okay but like, I am about to bake a bunch of polymer clay. What would that do? Summon something? Fume baking smell. Anti cleansing. Deposite
Hmmm...
Thinking about baking things instead of smoke cleansing...

OP: hehe boobs
Half the Greek Pantheon: boobs? Boobs did you say? Where? Share?
Dear, Witches of Tumblr, need some advice.
Basically I'm thinking of creating a sigil to use as a watermark for my artworks, but I fear that it wouldn't be that good of an idea since I would obviously use phrases like "hehe boobs" or something and that might totally backfire and stuff??? Even if I use something more serious and sincere, I still fear there might be consequences and I might basically make a mockery out of magic.
I also heard that I shouldn't practice stuff that I don't really believe in, so...
Anyways, I hope someone finds this I rlly need y'all's advice here since I might actually do something stupid. Should I or should I not use a sigil as a signature?
Thanks in advance!
