saw someone on instagram say “you shouldn’t post your art until it’s good” and that comment filled me with rage so i want to say to every beginner artist or artist who feels their art is not improving no matter how long they’ve been at it. i love you and i love your art and everything you post bears part of you and that is so beautiful. block everyone who says otherwise they are not entitled to freely consume what they rag on.

I told a stranger this little bit of advice earlier today and I think more people need to hear it: People not interacting with your work is a morally neutral thing, especially when you're just starting out.
Not getting the interaction you're wanting doesn't mean your work is inherently bad. Doesn't mean your stories are not worth the time to be heard. Doesn't mean you're incapable of growth.
Being a part of the comics community is less about trying to fit in and finding complete validation from others and more about building a space all your own and inviting others to join you. People will come and go but you're the one whose opinion and attention matters most. That space is gonna grow and change as you go through that but the thing is you've gotta put in the work to make it exist, and we all start somewhere.
Be kind to the present you, look forward to the future you, and be proud of what those two yous can make together.

TTRPGs for Trans Rights - West Virginia bundle!
Over 500 (!!!!) games for $5 (?!?!?!!?!) to support a West Virginia based organization called Project Rainbow! There are so many amazing games in this bundle and it supports a really cool org.
Some info about Project Rainbow from the bundle page:
Since its inception, the project has been curated to serve unsheltered LGBTQ+ individuals to help them better navigate the housing system safely and compassionately. Project Rainbow has opened The Rainbow House in an effort to serve this community and meet this goal. Although the shelter is our community's most urgent and immediate need, Project Rainbow recognizes that there is far more work to be done. They serve as advocates for the individuals we serve, and the Appalachian LGBTQ+ community as a whole. They also work closely with partners in the housing system, health and mental health care systems to not only find solutions for their guests but to make these systems themselves more accessible for their target population.
Share this around and get this bundle!

the idea that restrooms, locker rooms, etc need to be single-sex spaces in order for women to be safe is patriarchy's way of signalling to men & boys that society doesn't expect them to behave themselves around women. it is directly antifeminist. it would be antifeminist even if trans people did not exist. a feminist society would demand that women should be safe in all spaces even when there are men there.

something that's easy to miss when we talk about problematic tropes about marginalized characters is that a LOT of them are fundamentally really just side effects of the fact that the story is so rarely ABOUT those characters. women get shoved in refrigerators to motivate male characters because the writer never cared about the woman as a character in her own right in the first place, just about her effect on the man, and this is just where it's becoming really obvious. characters of color get to be wise mentors or quirky sidekicks because the writer liked the idea of a diverse cast in theory but wasn't willing to write a non-white lead and those are the good-guy roles that are left. if you want to do better the answer is usually not to go down a checklist of problematic tropes and make sure you're not doing any of them, it's to treat marginalized characters as fully realized people with agency and narrative focus in the first place, and if you're doing that right a lot of this will follow naturally.

Every time I advocate for voting people are like "no you shouldn't vote! Read this literature, it'll totally change the way you view voting!" And every single time it's the same fucking "you shouldn't vote because both parties are exactly the same so it won't make a difference who wins" bullshit wrapped up in some fancy language

Tumblr is like "isn't it weird that Christians never think about this fairly obvious implication of their own theology?", then proceeds to independently re-invent an eight-hundred-year-old heresy that caused three separate wars.

the Columbia University arrests are worse than they seem. They're arresting protesting students for trespassing. It goes without saying students cannot meaningfully "trespass" in the common areas of a university they attend. So Columbia University has suspended all student protestors from their institution, in the process revoking their access to housing, their belonging, and most crucially damaging their academic futures. We are witnessing full scale silencing and removal of anyone of conscience from the next generation of academia.
