I didn’t notice this caption up till now. But now I can’t stop thinking about it. If it’s a warning when a Guardian finds it naturally, then imagine what would happen if it was given to them on purpose. 

Fragments of Heartstone could be slipped into a Guardian’s home anonymously, by a dragon that was jealous of their Charge. Just to scare them, or wish the worst on them out of spite.

Or attached to a ransom letter as a threat. Even without an explanation, the Guardian would know what it means. The Heartstone would explain everything.

Enemies of the Charge themselves might receive jewellery made with it. But they would never know the meaning behind it, until the Guardian notices it, and starts to panic.  

And a bonus: If there are natural deposits of it, then maybe word has gotten out about it. They know it’s just superstition. But travelling Guardians learn to avoid it. Even being near so much of it causes bad luck, whether they’re with their Charge or not.

Some don’t directly relate to FR but are useful nonetheless. I’ll be updating this list as I find things that I missed or new resources I come across. :)
