My heart stifled by the ghosts from decades past reaching out through the flowers on their graves. It was heartbreaking, yet soothing, being most alive amongst the dead. There had been times I had wished death for myself, but now that I had had a glimpse of it, that I had let it course my blood, I wasn’t sure I wanted to have anything to do with it.
I only wished to be stripped of everything—death, magic, and feelings. To be a lone shell—emotionless and unable to hurt, be it me or the others.
this is an unedited excerpt from my ghost x demon WIP~ hope you like it!

This might be unpopular but I’m not going to use simpler vocabulary in my writing if it’s out of character for the narrator. If my POV character is a botanist, he’s going to call a plant by its name. If you don’t know what it is you can either Google it or move on just knowing it’s a plant of some sort.
I don’t like this trend of readers being angry that not everything is 100% understandable for them. I want my characters to be believable as people and sometimes people use words people outside of their field will not understand. That’s not a bad thing.
You don’t have to understand every word to get the gist of what’s happening. I’m not going to slow down an action scene to describe every weapon because someone might not know them by name. They can just assume it’s a weapon because that makes sense in the context of the scene.

*book excerpt*
Yue’s gaze fell on Rosen’s chest. ‘Wait, is that blood? Are you alright?’
‘It’s okay, most of it is mine,’ Rosen said, smoothing out her blood-soaked clothes like it was nothing to fret about.
‘Am I supposed to feel reassured?’ Yue said, frowning. ‘What happened? Did the flowers do that?’
‘River stabbed me.’
‘It was an accident!’ River said.
‘It was,’ Rosen said, like it ever needed confirmation.

OC in 3
introducing Brume from my witchy wip~
Brume is a necromancer—a death witch, except she doesn’t know it. All her life she’s been thinking she had no talent but seeing dead cats, and making moss and mushrooms kill themselves at her feet. She thought she would spend the rest of her days baking pastries against broken hearts and nightmares in her parent’s magical bakery. That is until a curse hits her town and forces her to make an alliance with a witch who’s half-demon. With her best friend, the bone witch Luonto, they adventure the swampland and demonic orchards, pushing the limits of her magic to places she never knew existed. Suddenly she sees ghosts and leaves death in her tracks. Will she be able to break the curse of Misttown, or will she be the reason for its destruction? Will the love of a demon be her doom, or her salvation?
