How do you plan your IF? It can't be easy to keep track of so many stats, especially with the amount of flavor text you'd need. Do you use special software or just any writing application?

I use a spreadsheet :< For each column: has the variable name, a summary of what the variable does/what it's for, whether it's a true/false variable and whether it's a variable that each player gets or if it depends on a choice so I know whether to have to add it somewhere else so other players can get it in the future.

For example in the new prologue you can express whether you have a license or not but only through a certain choice. I have to make sure to put that on the spreadsheet so I don't write a passage for every player and confuse some people LOL!

It's a lot of work but I always said 502 would be very heavy and a lot of work and luckily it's enjoyable :>>>

I'm really psyched about the bartender job changing to a more grimey bar! I feel like it will definitely suit my MC more. I was wondering if the way MC gets the job is staying the same or if it's more of an "oh shit I need to find a job quick" type of thing?

Me too :P every job was so upscale and official I needed one that was a bit grittier. Not to downplay bartending as a job since it does take many social and technical skills (that I definitely do not have :p) but it's the perfect kind of job for the grittier club atmosphere I was going for! :>

almost all the asks about cal are about them as a couple w taren. is there anything you can tell us about them as a person? im just completely and utterly in love with them. 😭

That's because Cal's identity is wrapped up in their relationship :P which is a problem Cal has to fix.

As a person, Cal is anxious and sometimes shy, they overthink too much, they like to plan everything, and they're not very adventurous. They apologize too often and they worry about hurting people's feelings, intentionally or not.

Cal likes routine and familiar patterns and is stuck in their ways. They're not good with doing things "outside of the norm" and get uncomfortable when their routine is disrupted.

They are very loyal, very kind, and very true to their loved ones. They're quite awkward and nervous but when they're completely comfortable they can be funny and playful. Cal has many layers but it takes a lot to get them to put their guard down!

You misunderstood what I meant. Anon said that mc could've ended up in a very bad situation. I was trying to show that Rainn specifically offered a place to stay to avoid that from happening and from MC being homeless. Rainn would've let mc stay as long as they needed to.

It's definitely not something mc has to be grateful for but rainn also wasn't someone who said "im dumping u and ur on ur own to find a place to stay, go sleep on the street for all I care peace 🤘" lol it's the bare minimum IM AWARE but im going to give rainn some credit at least

Sooo can we have the option to accept rain's invitation to live with them for a while instead of instantly jumping off to live with strangers? And move when they got to know the other roommates better? Or will that change the plot of the story for you?

my mc would totally take aside her pride and do just that because first of all it's practical and second it is dangerous to live with people you don't know.

I would have liked that but unfortunately not. doing so would mean I would have to rework that to fit. MC jumping in to live with strangers is just a thing that we have to accept under "sitcom believability." There's a reason why I couldn't give you the choice to say yes to Rainn's offer :P

anon answered their own wonder about rainn- if it wasn't a game people's opinion would be vastly different but it is so it's fun to look at the drama and the what-ifs and impossible scenarios like "getting back together with your actually shitty ex-SO and them (both of you) growing and recreating something better" which most of us will never really experience.

True! The tropes and ROs were created from me wanting those tropes :P An emotionally-stunted prim and proper ex with a great job and a put-together life who is actually not put together at all? Sign me up! :P

And Rainn will be doing a lot of pining, yearning, and groveling so I can assure the other anon that I won't make it easy for them. I keep in mind that the ROs are not perfect and they deserve their consequences. It would not be enjoyable if it was only MC getting punished/consequences for their actions
