Sip.
I lost both my bettas too and so i haven't been active on petblr anymore.
Some sad news
I haven’t posted in a while. The sad news is I lost Bernard and Gispert to bacterial infections. I caught it way too late and they developed symptoms of dropsy. I tried to treat them but it was too far gone. I had to euthanize both of them. It’s was so hard to do but I knew they wouldn’t suffer anymore. I did bury them in some potted plants so I could remember them always. I’m only worried about the plants because I’m not very good with them. I still need to make little signs for the pots for my fish bois. SIP Bernard and Gispert

Any Canadian followers out there who have suggestions for silk plants ??
Amazon seems to be hit or miss, and Big Als doesn’t seem to have a good selection…

Betta Fish
Now I know there’s already a billion posts like this online, but I went to a pet store the other day and I feel compelled to reiterate this.
The tiny betta tanks sold at pet stores?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These aren’t big enough. You can’t keep a fish in these containers, it’s cruel and wrong.
People will tell you that betta fish are happy in small containers and don’t need room to swim around but these fish?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don’t think they look very happy. Maybe people see them lying at the bottom of these cups and assume they’re lazy and they don’t like to swim around but that’s bullshit okay? They need room.
Bettas are tropical fish, which means they need a heater to maintain a water temperature of 78-80 degrees Fahrenheit (26-27 degrees Celsius). Heaters cannot go in tanks under 5 gallons; it’s dangerous and could seriously hurt your fish. Betta fish need tanks that are AT LEAST five gallons.
Betta fish also have other specific needs because of their unique fins. While whether or not they need a filter is debatable, it definitely makes it easier to maintain a healthy tank environment. Betta fish are not strong swimmers, however, and do not do well in strong currents. They need a gentle filter that won’t be too powerful. (Filters, like heaters, can not be placed in tanks smaller than five gallons.) Betta fish also shouldn’t be in tanks with plastic plants, because they may damage a betta’s delicate fins. If you want fake plants in your betta’s tank, silk is a safe alternative.
In conclusion, pet stores treat betta fish like shit, which means when people buy them they don’t realize that betta fish need more than just a vase and they continue to treat their fish like shit. Bettas are quite hardy fish and can survive in a bad environment, so most people don’t even realize what they’re doing wrong because their fish lives through it. However, if you own pets you should want them to be happy and healthy, not just surviving. Please treat your bettas right.
