↳ ❝ [aventurine x reader ¡! ❞   『 ↳✧･slightly angsty, reverse hurt to comfort undertones; word count: 510       ↳ possible ooc aventurine, use of aventurine's real name, have barely done the 2.1 quest so apologies for that, mention of aventurine's past's complications, not proofread !! under the cut for possible spoilers -༉‧₊˚✧

“Do you trust me?”

Glancing up from where he was picking idly at his food with a fork, Aventurine furrowed his brows as his gaze directed at you was tainted with confusion, “Sorry?” Biting the inside of his cheek at your sigh, he ducked his head down in slight shame, “Sorry I…no I trust you.”

“Then why aren’t you eating?” With a heavy exhale Aventurine shrugged as he set his fork down. He was hungry and absolutely despised whenever he let food get too cold or even going as far as not to eat it; especially when you had been so excited to prepare him something out of a new recipe you found. 

“Kakavasha.” Your tone was firm as you went to rest your hand on his, pulling away slightly when he flinched at the sudden contact. “Kakavasha I’m not going to poison you or anything of the sort, you know that, right?”

At his lack of response a frown tugged the corner of your lips down, “Here, I can fix you something else or go order you something if you don’t want to it.” As understanding as you were, he couldn’t help but feel guilty even though he knew he shouldn’t. It wasn’t his fault. That’s what you told him the first time he had freaked out about eating something that you had cooked for him. 

He was always starving you when it came to your relationship. First, it was the newfound trust of being comfortable enough around you to start dating you, then it was the worry that you didn’t want to be with him for benefits, after that he knew that his lack of affection was a problem. It wasn’t his fault. When he explained that he had “issues” you simply told him that it was okay and left it at that. 

Even though he was starved of almost everything under the sun, whether it was freedom, lack of nutrition, lack of food, lack of love, and so much more, he truly felt as if he was starving you of love and affection. Although he knew you would lay into him if he said it aloud. When he built up the courage to tell you why he was so distant, he was surprised when you shed as many tears as he did as he told it. 

With a shake of his head he snapped his eyes to meet yours, “No, I can eat it. Just give me a second.” With a comforting smile, you went ahead and started to eat yourself, not wanting to pressure him further by not eating until he did. As he bit into the dish, he felt himself relax as his anxiousness faded when he felt or tasted nothing wrong with it. Maybe he could finally stop starving you of trust, and in return, he could be fed with love. Although a starving man can only hope that someone generous would come along and give him something to satisfy his hunger, he knew you were sympathetic enough to feed him for a lifetime.
