mona update as of badge 4:
First off: Melia's death rlly soured the relationship between Mona and Venam. Mostly due to frustration about the situation. They end up latching a bit onto Ren's words about getting stronger though.
First impression of Keta is. piss poor. Aelita is a lot more favorable but they end up getting dragged into it bc they feel so guilty about melia's own "Death" that they just fear smth would happen without them.
lol guess what they were right. Keta's death impacted them less though.
Marianette was such a similar presence to melia strangely that Mona felt at ease around her. their nickname to her was Eagle!
Meeting Anju rlly piqued their interest in getting nosy around the region. they didn't need a deep profile of everything, but things mattered at certain times, so its best to be prepared.
The Volcanion battle and Narcissa gym battle rlly hammered the guilt they feel about Nancy, disregarding her as not their mother despite their initial suspicions.
they are alone. after all. is it wrong to turn to someone for comfort, even if it may be a lie?
they feel. pity for ren. not exactly the best emotion considering Ren's internal conflict. It was probably best not to let it show though. they know that much.
In some way they become closer to ren despite this though, sharing their own skepticism to events around them aka Narcissa's play, despite showing face to help with the play.
(they don't realize this yet, but the spotlight is slowly gathering on them. im gonna have them defeat madame X. This will have consequences.)

Post 1 <<< Prev < Post 5
[ooc: Okay, this took a while... Was swamped with irl stuff yesterday and a mild case of writer’s block so I couldn’t get into it as soon as I would’ve liked. Showcasing another of my OCs here, though she technically isn’t really a seperate entity...? It’s complicated.]
[ooc: Nah, do whatever you think is best. As long as I can organise the posts chronologically, I don’t really mind how you post it.]
(When Hauyne came to, she found herself suspended in a dark void. A very familiar void, in fact.)
“Damn, that must have taken a lot out of me...” she grumbled, one hand pressed against her temple to ease the dizziness as she slowly rose to her feet.
(Not that she actually felt dizzy here. She was in her own head, after all. Or rather, a plane of existence conjured by her subconscious mind where she could freely commune with her “headmates. Though, given that all of them were still in a deep slumber, the plane was noticeably empty except for herself; its desolate condition was merely a reflection of its inactivated state.)
(Suddenly, the void rippled. Colours began to materialise before Hauyne’s eyes, and in a blink of an eye, it shifted into a breathtaking scenery. One with no land in sight; only an expanse of crystalline water and a sky eternally locked in twilight.)
“You’re an idiot. You know that, right?”
“Viviere,” greeted Hauyne, her tone even and cordial in a way only well-bred aristocrats could manage. “Nice to see you haven’t changed a bit.”
(She turned around to meet the owner of the sarcastic voice, coming face-to-face with a pallid girl bearing a face that was identical to her own. Not that most people would know, due to the unsettling dragonskull mask she wore to protect others from the brunt of her deadly gaze. The six ruby eyes on the mask gleamed, reflecting its mistress’ agitation.)
“Hmph,” she scoffed. Hauyne noted that her counterpart had forgone her usual armour, instead wearing a black-and-white dress reminiscent of a goth lolita fashion. “I could say the same for you. Still pushing yourself over the limit, huh? Especially for people who least deserved it.”
“In what sense?” challenged Hauyne, crossing her arms.
“Oh, don’t tell me you’ve gotten even dumber since the last time we spoke,” she replied, mockingly. “But fine. I’ll spell it out for you. I’m talking about those two outsiders.”
“Flynn and Arrow?” mused Hauyne, her head tilted in contemplation.
“That’s right,” Viviere said, nodding. “Sure, you fucked up. Big deal. Everyone does that from time to time. Doesn’t mean you need to use up all your reserves to ‘make it up’ to them, or whatever twisted logic you’ve convinced yourself with. Those people may not have meant any harm, but they’re not your friends. You don’t owe them anything, and you definitely don’t have to ‘prove yourself’ to them. You’re so much better than them. You should know that.”
(Hauyne winced at the egotistical statement. In what world was she ‘superior’ than the rest?)
“Look, I get what you’re saying,” she said. “I misjudged the amount of reserves I used, alright? I didn’t even mean for this to happen.”
“Oh, we’re doing this again?” sneered Viviere, unimpressed. The eyes on her mask shone a dangerous crimson. “We both know that was a fucking lie. You were absolutely prepared to dump everything you have, just for the sake of a lousy ‘apology’. And for what? In the end, all you’ve done is give them more pain and suffering.”
(Hauyne stared at her blankly, baffled. Viviere stared back, before sighing and slumping her shoulders in exasperation.)
“You have no idea what I’m talking about, huh?” she groaned, exasperation dripping from her words. “Fine. Observe.”
(Viviere raised a hand to the sky. The scenery twisted and shifted, morphing into the ruins of a once-glorious city. Hauyne knew this place well. Alamissa Urben. It was Ryland’s favourite hideout, and still is - even after he had taken the mantle as the Guardian of Eclysia Pyramid upon himself. He had frequented the ruins much less often these days, being preoccupied with his role.)
(Beside her, Viviere had taken on a ghostly, translucent appearance. And so had she, upon a quick inspection. Clairvoyance? It seemed her counterpart still had some control over her powers, despite having relinquished all of it during their rejoining.)
“What do you want me to see?” frowned Hauyne, her brow furrowed in confusion.
“Shh,” shushed Viviere, shooting her a pointed glare that somehow penetrated through her mask. She pointed a finger towards a orange spot soaring over them. “Just keep an eye out for that, will you?”
(Hauyne’s frown deepened, but relented. Her eyes focused upon the orange spot as it grew larger... larger... until it was obvious that it wasn’t a spot, but rather a Charizard in flight. Firecracker. With Arrow riding on his back.)
(They looked awful. Their shoulders trembled with every sob they managed to choke back, resulting in their erratic breathing that did nothing to help their situation, and their eyes were so welled with tears it was a surprise that none of it had spilled. A pang of astonishment, sorrow and sympathy hit her. Just what had happened to Arrow? What had made them this upset?)
(The duo landed on one of the more intact buildings of Alamissa Urben, kicking up a cloud of aged dust in their wake. Almost immediately, Arrow collapsed onto the ground, their sobs akin to desperate gasps and curled up in a fetal position. Their breathing were so loud, so laboured, so erratic, that Hauyne feared that they might asphyxiate themself to death.)
“Arrow!” exclaimed Firecracker. The Charizard wasted no time in wrapping his massive wings around his trainer like a weighted blanket, curling his body around them comfortingly. “I’m here, don’t worry... Just breathe. In, and out...”
“I’m such a horrible person,” they mumbled, eyes glazed out like they were staring at something only they can see. “They... Imani, Flynn... they need me. But I ran away. Like a coward. Ryland was right... I’m a selfish person. I always end up running away when it mattered, don’t I?”
“Shhhhh,” hissed Firecracker soothingly, pressing his muzzle against Arrow’s chest in an attempt to calm them. “Don’t beat yourself up like this. You did your best, and you did amazing despite everything. Just breathe.”
“A-and...” they continued their delirious rant, Firecracker’s words falling on deaf ears. “I c-couldn’t do anything. Not an Arceus-damned thing! I should h-h-have known... I should have stopped her! What if she never wakes up, because of me...?”
(Hauyne’s eyes widened. Oh dear god, were they blaming themself for her unconscious state?)
‘Just what have I done...?’
“You couldn’t have known,” he rumbled consolingly. “There’s simply too much we don’t understand about this strange new world. There’s no way you could have known.”
(Arrow said nothing. They had long since fallen into an unresponsive state, sobbing and crying. All Firecracker could do was curl himself around his trainer, rumbling words of comfort and support in the hopes that it would calm them down. Even if he knew that they could never understand what he had said.)
(The vision faded away, returning both Hauyne and Viviere to the land of twilit sky and sea.)
“You see now?” asked Viviere, her voice unusually soft and gentle, bereft of its usual vicious bite.
(Hauyne nodded, too stunned by what she had witnessed to speak.)
“It always ends this way, doesn’t it?” she muttered sorrowfully.
(Viviere offered no response. Instead, she glanced away, lowering her mask slightly to hide her thoughtful frown. Then, she faded away without so much as a goodbye, returning herself to the depths of her subconscious. Her job was done, anyway. There was no point for her to remain here any longer.)
(Leaving Hauyne to pick up the pieces. Alone.)
[ooc: starting the RP with @valkyrie-of-the-rising-sun on my noog this time cause I am lazy lol. Hope this isn't a problem]
[ooc: Big Sib Arrow to the rescue????]
[ooc: I. Did not know how to incorporate Hauyne's pokemon properly here so pretend they're there with Erin when Arrow goes to the HQ]
' First Imani, now Hauyne. What is up with everyone fainting,' Arrow frowns as they pick up Hauyne in theirs, '....if Flynn faints next, I'm having a heart attack. I swear,'
[Arrow rushes back toward the HQ, Firecracker right behind them. The minute the two enter, they are met with Erin. The younger girl's eyes go wide was she sees Hauyne in Arrow's arm, which quickly shifts into a harsh glare at Arrow.]
" I don't know," they huff, already tired of the hostility today, " She came to heal me, we got engulfed in some weird fire, and then she fainted. Do you know how to help her or not?"
[Erin stares at Arrow for a second, then looks down at the unconscious Hauyne in their arms. She sighs]
" Just.....follow me," she says, speed walking to the infirmary.
[Arrow follows suit, looking down to see if Hauyne has woken up yet. It was only then how....oddly peaceful she looked]
[Heading into the infirmary, Arrow was greeted by the warm smile of Imani, but it quickly turned into a horrified gaze as she notices Hauyne in their arms]
' How old is she?' they ponder, before shaking their head and catching up with Erin.
" Hauyne!" Imani cries, and she's about to get up-
" Don't get up," Arrow orders, " You need your rest. Please. "
[Imani looks between Arrow and Hauyne, her eyes filled with worry. She gives Arrow a reluctant nod, sitting herself back into her bed.]
" Thank you. Now where do I...ah,"
[Arrow walks towards a spare bed and places Hauyne on it. She's still unconscious. Was it the fire thing she did?]
[Arrow stands there for a bit. Staring at Hauyne. It all comes sinking in. They are in another universe. Another universe that they do not understand. They have been attacked, not once but twice, and any attempt at a calming moment is faced with some problem they don't know the answer to. It's so much. Too much.]
[They hear Firecracker whine as their body behinds to shake.]
" Arrow?" Imani's voice enters their ears as well. They look straight at her, face blank.
" I think I'm having a panic attack," their voice is scarily even, " I'm going to go now. I'll be back soon,".
[They don't even hear Imani's protest as they rush out the door. They know Firecracker is behind them- he's always behind them. No matter what. The minute the two are outside, Firecracker goes in front of Arrow, back towards them. Arrow immediately hopes on , and they take flight.]
' I'm so selfish,' they berate themself as they fly, ' They need me and I'm running away. Ryland was right,'
" Take me home," was all that was said.
[Firecracker only nodded. To home they went]

[ooc: since @fangaminghell had always been the one to kickstart the rp, this time it’s my turn to do it :p]
[ooc: introducing arrow and flynn to the rp cast! and boy, did they have one hell of a rocky start... because hauyne is an extremely terrifying opponent to face, and she has absolutely no chill when it comes to battling. they better fight back with everything they’ve got, or they’ll be blown away.]
(Hauyne awoke with a jolt, drenched in cold sweat.)
(Something... happened. That’s what her intuition told her. But what, exactly? She was fairly sure she had another one of her clairvoyant dreams as part of her being the Interceptor, though for some reason, she was unable to recall its contents. How infuriating.)
(She glanced to her roommate. Imani was still fast asleep, letting out the occasional quiet snores every once in a while. Strange. Doesn’t she get the same premonitions as her, being a fellow Interceptor? Or was she so removed from her world that whatever connection to the Core she once had, was now too feeble to even be activated? Or perhaps it was because of the power split between her and her host - Imani’s Ariana. Unlike her, who always had the entire package since the beginning; not that it mattered, it took her nearly a year just to figure out the Interceptor form shtick.)
(And, to think, those alternate forms were only a teaser of what’s she capable of as the Interceptor.)
‘Not like I can go back to sleep now,’ she sighed in resignation, reluctantly crawling out of the covers. She moved as silently as possible, careful not to disturb Imani from her slumber. ‘Might as well go for a stroll, maybe do a little investigation.’
(She briefly returned to her room to grab her Pokeballs, and to fetch Kali. No way in hell was she going to investigate some anomaly without her faithful partner at her side, anyhow.)
(While the Zeraora was visibly disgruntled at having her slumber disturbed, she immediately took on her usual ‘all-business’ attitude upon hearing her trainer’s reasons. It wasn’t long before they left the village to scout out the desert at the crack of dawn, full team in hand and anticipating a potential scuffle.)
(Hauyne wasn’t sure how long she had been scouting. With the anticipation running high, it had felt like she had trekked the expanse of the desert for eons. She was beginning to doubt her judgement, wondering if it had been simply a false alarm, until she noticed Kali standing rooted to the spot and gazing at a particular spot in the direction of the village.)
Hauyne, look, she said, prompting the trainer to divert her gaze towards where she was staring at.
(Frowning, Hauyne zeroed in, trying to see what had caught Kali’s attention. Her eyes widened when she saw two unfamiliar signatures - they were too far for her to see, even if she were to enhance her vision with aura - heading towards Sashila Village. And judging from their purposeful, almost determined, strides, they seem to be driven by some unknown motive. But she isn’t going to take a gamble here and pray that it’s something benign.)
Hauyne swore under her breath. “Oh, screw this. Come on, Kali!”
(Kali nodded, and together they sped back to the village in twin streaks of lightning. Within seconds, they caught up to the strangers, and it was then did Hauyne take notice of their appearances.)
(One of them was a person who looked to be in their early to mid-twenties, dressed in a goth style. If their umber complexion and their relaxed stance - as though they were familiar with the environment - were any indication, they were most likely someone born and bred in the desert. The other was a timid-looking girl, possibly around Hauyne’s age, though she could be older. From the looks of it, she doesn’t seem as well-travelled as her companion, if her noticeably less confident posture and her tendency to nervously scan the surroundings were anything to go by.)
(Both of them looked awful. Aside from their obvious dishevelled appearances, Hauyne could see their auras tainted by fear and, dare she say it, what she called a “killer’s intent”. A grim feeling clamped down onto her soul.)
“Hey, you!” she called out to them, her lightning speeds slowing to a leisurely jog. Beside her, Kali did the same thing, trailing behind her and staying out of sight so she doesn’t spook them.
(The two strangers jumped, surprise flaring in their auras. In a flash, two Pokemon materialised into view. A Charizard and - did her eyes deceive her? - a Hydreigon, growling in anticipation and ready to defend their trainers.)
“Who are you?” demanded the goth, their Charizard echoing their question in a rumbling growl.
“I should be asking you the same thing,” retorted Hauyne, halting several paces away from the duo. More than enough room for a battle, if it comes down to it. “I’ve never seen you around here before.”
(Neither of them spoke. The goth narrowed their eyes at Hauyne, an aura of wariness and distrust wreathed around their being like a pair of flaming wings. The girl simply stared at her, eyes wide with terror and tentative determination.)
“We’re... travellers,” the goth answered carefully. “We’re looking for someone. Have you, by any chance, met someone named Imani?”
‘Who are you trying to fool? How did you know that name? What do you want with her?’ were what Hauyne wanted to say, but held her tongue.
(Instead, she glared back at them, her gaze piercingly frigid and her countenance impassive as ever.)
“And if I did?” she replied rhetorically, her voice monotone and devoid of emotion.
“So you did saw her!” exclaimed the girl. “Where is she?”
(Hauyne offered no response. Instead, she wordlessly plucked a Pokeball from a belt and tossed it into the sky. Twin streaks of light burst forth, materialising into two Pokemon: Kali, and Vedrfolnir - her Sceptile-Haxorus artificial hybrid. The two roared/howled challengingly at their would-be opponents, who have taken a step back in clear shock.)
“W-what are you...?” stammered the girl, frightened by the sudden turn of events.
“I’ll tell you where she is... if you defeat me!” taunted Hauyne, her battle aura kicking into overdrive.
(Her eyes flared with a preternatural light, and the distinct scent of ozone and brimstone assaulted the battlers’ noses. The air seemed to weigh down upon them like an oppressive presence, buzzing and leaving unpleasant tingles against their skin - as though it had been overcharged with static electricity. She grinned, feeling the beginnings of battle thrill surging through her body.)
‘It’s on, bastards!’

[ooc: Decided to have this part be in a new ask! Hope it's okay! Also Imani-Erin friendship wooo!!!!]
(Imani sat on the table as both she and Erin waited for the scans to be complete. The silence was oddly comforting, despite her urge to talk to her like they used to. About fashion, about the others, hell even just "flirting" with each other! But this world isn't her own, and this Erin isn't her Erin, so any inside jokes they had are gone. Still, the silence wasn't as awkward as she thought it would be.)
( She let her mind wander a bit. She can't help but wonder how everyone's doing, back home. Are they looking for her? Or are they continuing their training for the siege on the Team Xen HQ? She honestly doesn't know what she would prefer, but a pang of guilt is a common feeling. She still doesn't remember how she got here, through that ultra wormhole, but she knows it's worrying everyone and delaying their training!)
' Hmmm.....I might need to train with everyone here just to keep up....' Imani ponders, her eyebrows furrowing at the thought.
" So." Erin speaks up, snapping Imani out of her thoughts, " What changed?"
" Huh?"
" Yesterday, you were insanely nervous and spooked. Now all of a sudden you're all sunshine and rainbows. And there's no way a single night's rest can undo all of that"
( Erin gives Imani a pointed look)
" So what happened?"
' Leave it to Erin to get straight to the point,'
" W-well...." Imani starts, playing with her hands, " I....after Hauyne explained her.... everything,"
( Imani still winces at the knowledge she gained that day)
" I....I kinda snapped? It just....mad me so upset, knowing she was treating this like some game....at least. That's what I thought,"
( Imani sighs, remembering how Melia and Aelita pulled her aside before she went to bed that night. They explained how Hauyne's story, while true, was greatly dramatized to make Hauyne seem more like the villain than she really was. While Imani still felt righteous in her anger, guilt quickly waved over her as she heard the news. She judged too quickly)
" I was told that Hauyne villaified herself during her own story and...well,it put things into perspective. I wanted to apologize so I thought ' why not spend time with Hauyne today and have an awesome sleepover!'" Imani feigns her perky self before slumping down with a deep frown.
" But I have to do this- w-which isn't bad and completely necessary!....but it does hinder my plans. Not to mention Hauyne's been avoiding me...."
( Imani sighs again, then looking to the side to see Erin staring at her intently. She face flushes as she realized she just dumbed everything on her)
" Oh- oh gosh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to dumb everything on you like that-"
" It's fine," Erin shrugs, " Hauyne is....Hauyne. She's insanely stubborn and has a hard time understanding that we care about her,"
(Erin scrunched up her noise a bit, her eyes lost in thought)
" I wish she'd at least talk to me about it..."
" Talking can be hard," Imani shrugs.
" Ugh, tell me about it,"
( The two girls share a chuckle. There's a ding right after)
" Hm?" Erin eyes over the monitor, and she smirks, " Well lucky you. Your scans are fine. Looks like you can do what you were planning to do after all,"
( Imani's light up, a smile creeping on her face)
" Really?! Yes!!!"
( She immediately gets down from the table and books it towards the door, but she stops to turn around toward Erin)
" So, I don't know how long I'll be here, but if there's still time, maybe we can design something together? A fashion piece I mean,"
( Erin's eyes widen, looking at Imani with astonishment)
" You....you like fashion?"
" Love it!!! I had materials back home and you and I would work on some projects together!" Imani rambles, her passion getting the best of her.
( Erin blinks, still astounded. Her cheeks turn pink as she looks to the side, playing with a piece of her hair)
" I....sure, I guess. But only if we have time!"
( Imani's grin matches the sun itself, her eyes shining with excitement)
" Oh, thanks you!!!!" Imani turns around and dashes out the door, waving to Erin as she does, " LATER ERI!!!!" she yells.
( Imani doesn't hear a response as she runs down the halls once more, heart pounding, and a big grin. There's only one thing on her mind:)
' Where on earth is Hauyne?'
Post 1 <<< Prev < Post 3
[ooc: It’s fine! I was the one who asked to start a new post anyway, just to keep the posts at a more manageable length. The first one is... kind of a mess tbh, as fun as it was. Soooo much scrolling XD]
[ooc: I realised that it wasn’t clear if Hauyne explained what she’s capable of when she told Imani about this universe, so just pretend she didn’t and Imani’s only finding out about it now.]
(With nothing else of importance demanding her attention, Hauyne fell back to her usual routine.)
(Sweat rolled down her neck in large beads, some flicking into the air whenever she made any sudden movements. At this point, all the katas were like second nature to her, requiring no conscious effort to execute. Her mind had long since entered into a calm, meditative-like state, her focus all directed towards summoning the energy within her to the fore. It buzzed beneath her skin - eager for release.)
(Grinning, Hauyne launched herself into the air, easily leaping to heights that would make an Olympic athlete weep with envy, and flipped - unleashing lances of bluish-white lightning as she righted herself mid-air. The lances exploded as soon as it made contact onto the sandy coast, kicking up plumes of dust everywhere and obscuring her from plain sight.)
(With practiced ease, she closed her eyes, switching into her aura sight as well as shielding them from the dust particles. Fiery energy flared to life at her fingertips, manifesting as flames of brilliant sapphire in her preternatural field of vision. Then, as before, the flames lunged - like a cobra’s vicious strike - just as she thrust her hand towards an imaginary target, its aim hitting true. Booms, almost reminding Hauyne of a dragon’s triumphant roar, reverberated into the distance.)
‘Okay, that’s enough,’ she decided, inspecting the smoking craters left in the aftermath of her attacks. ‘Anymore than this, and Damien’s gonna come after my ass.’
(Truth be told, Hauyne sometimes wished that she wasn’t the last of her kind. Well... technically, she isn’t. Aelita and Saki were Aura Wielders too, but they weren’t as experienced with their powers as she did. Sparring with Aelita at full strength left a bad taste in her mouth, considering that she had yet to fully master her own gifts nor understood her limits. They could easily go overboard and accidentally hurt - or worse, maim - each other.)
(And Saki... well, she’s in a nine-month long coma and in the middle of transferring her consciousness back into her original body. Definitely and obviously in no position to spar, and not for a long while too.)
(That left Kali, and her own Pokemon... but honestly? It had gotten stale at some point. By now, they had sparred so often that they all understood each other’s combat styles like the back of their hands. While it did make for greater levels of synchronicity, it unfortunately also translates to predictability during friendly spars. And despite them having the ability to occasionally spice things up with a surprise tactic, there was a reason why she’s the undisputed tactician and leader - her being their trainer notwithstanding...)
‘Damn, don’t tell me I’m bored already,’ she thought in dismay, flopping down onto the somewhat ruined beach.
“There you are!”
‘...I jinxed myself, haven’t I?’
“I heard the explosions and...” Imani paused, gawking at the sheer amount of destruction littered around the beach. “What happened?”
“Training,” replied Hauyne, tersely. She grimaced. “Might have been a bit overzealous there...”
Imani whistled, impressed and mildly terrified by what she saw. “Damn. You must be one hell of a trainer to have such powerful Pokemon...”
“Not my Pokemon,” said Hauyne, shaking her head. “They’re still recovering from their battle at Axis Temple, so no battles or training for now. Doctor’s orders.”
Imani nodded like it was the most natural thing in the world, only to freeze in confusion as her words fully registered in her mind.
“Wait, if it’s not your Pokemon...” she muttered, her bafflement rising in unison with the pitch of her voice. “Then who did this?”
(Hauyne gave Imani a flat look, and pointed towards herself.)
“You're... you’re kidding, right?” Imani chuckled nervously. “Surely you must have a Pokemon on you...”
(Hauyne shook her head. She got to her feet, and made a show of turning around as well as emptying her pockets. Not a Pokeball in sight, except for the spare ones she kept on her person at all times that were clearly unused and empty.)
(Imani stared at her, gobsmacked, before running a hand over her hair and muttered something under her breath that sounded suspiciously like “of course, different universe. Right.”)
“Anyway, do you need me for something?” asked Hauyne, getting right to the point.
“U-uh, right!” stammered Imani, still reeling from the shock. “I... I came here to apologise.”
“What for?” she responded in disbelief, raising an eyebrow. “You’ve done nothing wrong, as far as I’m concerned.”
“I realised, um,” Imani looked away, rubbing her forearm sheepishly. “I may have judged you too quickly. About the whole... you know. So I just want to, uh, make it up to you for that.”
“Oh,” her answer came as a soft whisper, near inaudible. Hauyne’s eyes were downcast, the shadow of her bangs concealing the turmoil raging in them. “That’s... it’s not something you need to apologise over or make amends with. What I did... it’s just not right. Even if it came from a place of good intentions, or if it ended up doing some good. I don’t blame you for judging me. I had it coming, anyway.”
“Then why are you avoiding me?”
(Hauyne froze. This wasn’t something she expected to confront so soon.)
“It’s... complicated,” she sighed, after some hesitation. “But it has nothing to do with you. You remind me of someone. A close friend of mine. And I... don’t really know how to deal with it.”
(Imani said nothing, her expression contemplative.)
“You’re talking about Ariana, right?” she asked, tentatively and cautiously. As though she were trying to approach a high-strung animal.
(Hauyne stiffened, and nodded slowly. Neither of them spoke for a while, letting the silence - interspersed with the gentle howls of the sea breeze - blanket them as they ruminate over their own thoughts. Then, Hauyne raised her head, intent on breaking the silence, only to realise that Imani had the same idea too. The two stare at each other with wide eyes, unsure on how to proceed.)
“Uh, you first?” offered Imani, giving her a polite but cheerful smile.
(Hauyne nodded, appreciative.)
“So, uh... I’m sorry,” she muttered, not meeting Imani’s eyes out of shame. “For the whole avoiding thing I’ve been doing. It’s stupid of me to do that.”
“Apology accepted...” Imani dragged out her words, an impish grin slowly spreading across her face.
(Hauyne instinctively reared back, dread creeping up her spine. She does not like how devious the expression had looked.)
“But only if you have a sleepover with me!”
(All that tension instantly fizzled away from her body at the unexpected turn of events. Hauyne pressed an open palm to her face, trying to suppress her laughs.)
“What?” Imani cried out in faux outrage, though she could detect a hint of nervousness in her tone.
“No no, it’s just...”
(The indignant expression on Imani’s face was just too much for Hauyne to bear. Unable to restrain herself any longer, she laughed. Her first, in a very long while.)
“Did you really have to say it like that?” she demanded with clear amusement in her voice, so stunned by the absurdity that she broke her tough act. “I honestly thought you had something less innocent in mind!”
(No response. Awkward silence fell upon them.)
“You... you laughed,” stated Imani, her voice unusually impassive.
(Hauyne stared back, unsure on how to respond.)
“You laughed!” she repeated, this time louder and accompanied by a gleeful cackle of her own.
(Imani’s joy was so infectious, that Hauyne couldn’t help but smile shyly in return.)
“Yeah, guess I did,” she whispered.
“So...” said Imani, leaning over to Hauyne. “Sleepover?”
Hauyne let out an amused huff. “Sure. Why not? Might as well start over on a good note.”
“YES!” cheered Imani, fistpumping.
(As Imani rambled on about how much fun they’re going to have, Hauyne couldn’t help but smile. A genuinely happy one. Perhaps... perhaps this isn’t so bad after all.)

( Imani paces back and forth in the inn room she's in. Her Primarina, June, is out of his ball, watching his trainer pace around with a concerned look. )
( Today was tiring. Between having to explain herself in front of her friends,to learning more about Hauyne, then learning even more about Hauyne from Melia and Aelita. Suffice to say, she feels like a jerk after what she said earlier. For saying she was angry. Though, the more she thought about it, the more she felt like she had a right to be. Still, Melia and Aelita stating how Hauyne shrewd her own story to make her seem like a villain was eye opening. She frowned at the idea of viewing oneself as that. It's....kinda miss how much people care for you, doesn't it? Despite the countless mistakes people still care and want to be around you..maybe that's hypothetical, coming from her, but Arrow-)
' Arrow! What would Arrow do?'
( Imani thinks long and hard about this, going through the memories that she had with Arrow up to know. One finally comes to mind. The memory was right after the School of Nightmares, Imani locked herself into her room. It was immature, she knows, but she needed to be alone. And yet, when Arrow asked to come in, she let him)
' You're just a kid, you know,' they said that day, ' You have the whole world on your shoulders.'
( Imani looks at them quizzically, prompting Arrow to continue)
' There's people who care about you, and are more than glad to help you carry the burden. I'm more than willing. Please don't forget that,'
( Imani still frowns, looking off to the side)
' But....but all of this started because of my own existence. Maybe things would be better off if I -'
'Shut up'
'Huh?!'
( Imani looks to see Arrow with a genuine frown, their eyebrows furrowed. Were they- angry?!)
' There are people who care about you tremendously. People who you made their lives so much better. Do you really think we would be better off without you, Imani?'
' I-'
' We love you, Imani. Flaws and all. Never forget that'
( The memory fades, and Imani's heart is a brazen. She looks at her starter with great determination.)
" I know what to do now. But I don't know how,"
( She walks up to June, once again cupping his face)
" I think an apology would do it. Not about being angry, but being so quick to judge. And...hmmmm"
( Imani ponders a bit more. The banter between Hauyne and Kali. Specifically the one about her Alolan Ninetales.)
" You think Hauyne is up for a makeover during our downtime? She did mention her Ninetales enjoying fashion...."
( June's eyes light up and he barks happily. Imani grins ear to ear)
" Yeah! I knew you'd get it. So that's the plan for tomorrow! During our downtime we give Hauyne the best makeover ever!"
( June barks again and Imani never felt better. She returned him to his ball, and said her good nights to everyone. That night, she wouldn't wipe the smile off her face if she tried. )
[ooc: resend via ask! Also Imani makeover......2!!!!!]

(Tonight was another one of those nights for Hauyne.)
(Not wanting to spend the rest of the hours tossing and turning, Hauyne quietly snuck out into the Zorrialyn Coast. As she didn’t want to wake anyone, she left her Pokemon in her room - including her first partner, Kali. God knows she needs her rest; a Mythical she may be, but she isn’t immune to the call of slumber like Hauyne is. Thus, she left the Zeraora to her rest.)
‘Nice weather tonight,’ she mused idly, feeling the sea breeze caressing her face. ‘The skies are clear, the moon is full, and not a trace of light pollution to be seen. The best time to stargaze...’
(She directed her gaze heavenward, allowing herself bask in the rhythmic crashes of the waves against the shore. Even when she’s worlds away, the sounds of the sea never failed to soothe her spirit. It’s only a pity that she could never know the joys of swimming ever again... even the mere thought of going for a dip sent lances of phantom pains searing through her chest.)
(She quashed down the memory of her nearly drowning, in the very beginning on her journey...)
(From deep within her very being, she felt the stirrings of a familiar song emerging. She didn’t fight it, instead letting it flow freely, allowing a poignant sorrow to bleed into her usually dispassionate voice.)
“For whom weeps the storm? Her tears on our skin~ The days of our years gone, Our souls soaked in sin~”
(Her eyes fluttered shut, allowing herself to be enveloped in the song. The rest of lyrics had faded away into the tranquil darkness, yet it mattered not; she was more than familiar with the song to know the exact words that had spilled from her lips. Before long, the final verse had been sung, and Hauyne moved on to a different song. As she sung, the weight pressing against her heart lessened and lessened, and eventually it lifted just enough to feel as if she could finally breathe freely...)
(Eventually, the final song came to a close, giving way to serene silence. Feeling much better than she had before, Hauyne opened her eyes once more. In the lonely coast illuminated only by the glow of the moon, it looked as if her brilliant blue eyes were shining with a preternatural light. Though it could be merely them reflecting the moonlight.)
(Well, anyhow, she felt calm enough to return to her room. Still, there’s one more thing she wanted to do before leaving...)
(A strange yet familiar energy pooled within her chest, building and growing until it felt as if it was going to burst at any moment. Then, she released it, unleashing it all in the form of a thunderous roar. One so powerful, she could practically feel the air ripple violently under its sheer volume and might. It echoed satisfyingly, gradually fading away towards the horizon.)
‘Here’s hoping no one figures this out,’ she snickered to herself at that thought. ‘Or maybe they did, but they’re too nice to point it out.’
(It didn’t matter, anyway. She had vented out everything that she had kept bottled up, and she honestly couldn’t care less if people knew that she was the source of the rumoured “dragon’s roar”. It was, quite honestly, rather cathartic. She could see why dragon Pokemon had loved to roar so much.)
(Dusting off the sand off her clothes, Hauyne spared the night horizon one last glance, before making her way back to Sashila Village.)

(The rest of the day were a blur to Hauyne.)
(Her mind could not stop repeating the words Imani had told her. That she was pissed, rightfully so, at her flippant disregard for their lives, but nevertheless appreciated her efforts to change things. Even if they didn’t turn out as well as she had hoped.)
(And… that wasn’t something that she knew how to react to.)
(In truth, despite how coldly she had described this world as merely a ‘game’ from her perspective, Hauyne did care. Too much, in fact. It was why she ended up changing her mind and chose to remain in Aevium, despite knowing what’s to come. She could have left at any time, to live out the rest of her days peacefully in some other region and leaving Aevium to fester and rot. Yet, she didn’t.)
(It was why she, back when she was whole and known simply as Artemis - the girl who fell from the sky, chose to die on that cliff as the Calamity ravaged the entire region. It was why she chose to save one more person, even though it was never meant to be. It was why she tried everything she could to make her old team members abandon her to her dismal fate, so that they could have a chance at survival, not bogged down by the useless burden that was their trainer.)
(They refused. Why, oh why, did they think she was deserving of their faith and loyalty? They don’t deserve to die. Not like this…)
(And, most importantly, it was why she decided to take on the role of the Interceptor. Sacrificing her own happiness in the process. All done in the vague hope that she could pave the way to a brighter future.)
(Imani was right. Some Interceptor she was, if all she was good for was sowing the seeds of destruction and despair in her wake.)
(Perhaps… perhaps it was why she had forced herself to view it all as a game; it was much easier that way. Less heartache. Makes it easier to deal with those accursed stares, so filled with hurt and betrayal. Easier to convince herself that every horrible thing she put them through, it was for the greater good. For the good of everyone she sought to protect. All so they could survive whatever horrors come their way. And that, in the end, they’ll understand.)
(Oh, if only she knew what a horrible, terrible mistake she was making.)
(A part of her was faintly aware of herself showing Imani the sights of Terrial Island, even though she has most likely seen it before. Back in own her world. Still, she felt oddly detached from it all. She could feel herself walk, talk at length about the places they’ve visited, smile, even chuckle, at the jokes Imani would occasionally spout, but it felt so incredibly alien. Like she was merely an observer inside her own mind, and someone else had taken over.)
(Hauyne was all too familiar with this. It was just another one of her dissociation episodes, though she hadn’t had one since… Nancy’s death? It was definitely much more common before coming to Aevium. She only ever broke free from the dull monotony she had trapped her mind in whenever she sat before the screen, eager to continue her adventures as the Interceptor.)
(Either way, she’s too tired to care anymore. She just wants this, everything, to end… to return to the sweet embrace of oblivion.)
(She knew she couldn’t allow this world to fall into oblivion. She had made a promise not save it, so she will uphold it to the very end. Though… the urge of just destroying it all felt much too tempting than it had any right to be. Only the thought of her companions gave her pause, allowing her the time and strength to banish such traitorous thoughts away from her mind.)
(As much as she wants it all to end, she couldn’t bear to see them disappointed and crestfallen. So, at the very least… she’ll do it. For them, if not for herself. Perhaps… perhaps after everything’s said and done, she’ll let herself vanish. For good. And without even a farewell, so that they could move on with their lives, blissfully unaware of her existence. Free from the knowledge of how her existence had brought them so much unnecessary pain.)

( Imani's head pounds as slowly opens her eyes. Getting up shr raises her hand to her head, grunting as the throbbing gets worse.)
"What...." she grunts, her head spinning, " What....happened?"
( The girl tries to get up, but dizziness and nausea overtake her, weighing her back to the ground)
" Shit," she hisses, " I have had enough headaches for a lifetime, thank you,"
(She slams her hand on the ground, forcing herself up. She fights through the dizziness again, standing up and looks around. Everything is completely unfamiliar....yet familiar at the same time?)
"....Where am I this time," she groans, stretching her back, " Alternate dimension?.... Probably that, yeah."
( Imani then winces, the throbbing in her head coming back)
" Ugh!" Imani whines as she rubs her temple with hands, " Stupid headaches stupid alternate dimension, stupid-"
( Imani catches herself, feeling her anger bubbling. She takes a deep breath, still running her temples)
" Okay...this is okay....this is fine! Nothing you haven't handled before!" she forces a smile, "Yeah! Just....find whoever else is here, and we'll be good to go! Yep!"
( Imani begins to walk lightly, careful not to cause another sudden pain to her head.)
" Flynn?!" She yells, " Arrow?! Are you guys there?!"
( Imani winces at her own yelling, but she presses on. Slight panic begins to set in as she yells once again)
" Anybody?! "
[OOC: I hope this was alright as a beginning!!]
(Hauyne wanders aimlessly along the Zorrialyn Desert, her ever-faithful partner Kali walking beside her. Truth be told, she doesn’t know why her feet had led her to this place, and at such an odd hour too. Regardless, there was a nagging feeling deep inside her insisting that it’s of utmost importance.)
(And if there’s something Hauyne had learnt, it’s that her intuition had never led her astray. Thus, she heeded it, letting it guide her to the desolate aridness of the desert.)
(Even if she ends up finding nothing, at least she has a free-range stomping ground to train on. The desert was isolated enough where going all-out would be unlikely to hurt anyone, except probably herself and her team members. And even then they knew each others’ limits, so there’s no danger anyway.)
(Suddenly, Kali stilled. Her eyes fixated towards a vaguely north-eastern direction.)
“Kali?” prompted Hauyne, feeling herself tense up in anticipation.
There’s someone over there, she whispered. She seems lost and injured.
(Hauyne narrowed her eyes in deep contemplation. Frowning, she channeled some of her aura towards her eyes, and gazed towards the direction Kali had been staring at.)
(Indeed, there was a girl. And judging from her pained grimaces and confusion glinting off her eyes, it was clear she was stranded. And in dire need of assistance, too. The desert is no place for whimsical meanderings, especially for those who lack the survival skill or equipment to weather its harsh inhospitality.)
“Let’s go,” she murmured, not needing to turn around to know that Kali had given her a nod in agreement.
(The two bolted across the desert with preternatural speeds, covering much distance within the blink of an eye. It wasn’t long before their stranger-in-need was within earshot.)
“Flynn?! Arrow?!” yelled the girl, her voice quickly fading away into nothingness despite its impressive volume. “Are you guys there?!”
‘Wow, she’s got quite the pair of lungs,’ Hauyne thought to herself wryly.
Now is now the time for jesting, dear partner, Kali chided her in a gentle tone.
(Hauyne scoffed lightly, rolling her eyes playfully at Kali’s reminder. Still, the Zeraora had a point. Now isn’t the time to fool around; not when there’s someone in need.)
“ANYBODY?!”
(Both Hauyne and Kali jumped slightly at the sudden booming voice, startled.)
“Hello there!” she hollered back, quickly shaking off her stunned state. It was better to let her know of their presence as soon as possible anyway.
(With a final burst of speed, the two leapt over a dune, sliding down its slope and towards the stranger. She seemed astounded to see them, as though she couldn’t believe that her cries for help were answered so soon.)
“Oh, thank Arceus,” the stranger heaved a sigh of relief. “I thought I was-ARGH!”
(The stranger crumpled to the ground, whimpering, one hand nursing the side of her head. Alarm seized Hauyne in an iron grip. This situation looks a lot worse than she had dared to presume…)
(Without skipping a beat, Hauyne knelt down and took her head gently in her grasp. A soothing azure light washed over the stranger, and she could feel her relax somewhat beneath her touch. Soon, the pained whimpers had quieted.)
“Healing isn’t my strong point,” she admitted, retracting her hands away from the stranger’s head once she’s certain that she had healed what she could. “But I can at least lessen the pain. How are you feeling now?”
“B-better,” the stranger stammered, shakily rising to her feet. Kali placed her paw on her shoulder, slowly and gently guiding her back to the ground.
Don’t stand up so fast, advised the Zeraora. You’ll only make the headache worse.
(She nodded, careful not to trigger another headache.)
“…This isn’t the place for idle chitchat,” said Hauyne, scanning their immediate surroundings with an enhanced sight.
(She doesn’t like how the Cacturne had been eyeing them hungrily, like they were easy prey, in the distance. Just out of range for a normal human’s sight. A frown crept over her usually dispassionate face.)
‘Shouldn’t they know better not to mess with me when I unleashed hellfire on them a few nights ago?’
“Come with me. I know a place where you can rest for the night.”
“Wait!” the stranger blurted out. “Can… can you at least tell me where I am?”
(Hauyne bit her lip, hesitating for a moment before obliging.)
“We’re in the middle of the Zorrialyn Desert,” she replied coolly. “Meaning we can’t stay here. Not unless you want to be Mandibuzz food. Or Cacturne. Take your pick.”
(She could feel Kali’s reprimanding glare drilling into her. Admittedly, she could stand to be nicer, but honestly she doesn’t want to stick around too long to find out whatever nasty plot the Cacturne had been cooking up. Dark-types…)
“I’ll give you a lift to Sashila Village,” announced Hauyne, barely giving the stranger time to respond. “No offense, but you don’t look like you’re in any condition to move, much less traverse the desert.”
(The stranger stared, and Hauyne could just see the glimmer of disbelief shining in those reddish brown - it reminded her of the garnet jewelries she once saw in a museum exhibition - eyes. She sighed. Of course, she’ll never be able to escape the curse of her small stature, will she? Damn her Asian genes…)
(In one fluid motion, Hauyne had the stranger in a piggyback - with the girl letting out a yelp in surprise - and sped off. Kali followed closely behind her, as expected, though she could tell that her partner was shaking her head at her in a mix of exasperation and possibly mild amusement.)
You’ll have to forgive my partner’s… bluntness, Kali apologised to the stranger on her behalf. She’s simply worried about the Cacturne ambushes.
“Kali!” Hauyne yelped back in mock outrage.
(Kali offered no response, except for the ghost of a chuckle.)
[OOC: No worries, your beginning was great! I hope I got Imani’s character right though. Characterisation is not my strong point XD]

‘That was... something.’
(Hauyne couldn’t help but feel the stab of second-hand embarrassment on Imani’s behalf. Still, she liked to think that she’d done a good job in not letting in show. Right now what Imani needed was reassurance and a rock to ground her, and Hauyne will be damned to not fill that need. Since she’s the one who had taken her under her protection, she’s not going to half-ass this. No way in hell.)
“Okay, before we move on,” said Hauyne, after taking a deep breath. “Does anyone here have anything to say?”
(No one answered, opting to shake their heads. They were too dumbstruck by Imani’s tale to speak. Except for Aelita, that is.)
“What about you, Hauyne?” she asked her fellow leader, curious. “You don’t seem particularly surprised by what Imani told us. If anything, it almost looks like you had been expecting that answer.”
(Everyone turned their gazes towards Hauyne, expectant. Imani stared at her with a mixture of astonishment and confusion.)
“...I’ll be lying if I said I didn’t have my suspicions,” she began, her tone grim. “When I found her, I briefly saw her form flicker into a face I once knew well. Ariana’s, to be exact. Only for it to settle into her current appearance.
“At first, I had thought my contract annulled. But that couldn’t be it; my connection with the Core remained intact, so it’s safe to assume that I haven’t been replaced.”
‘Yet,’ was the word that went unspoken.
“When Imani told us about her version of events,” she continued, taking a brief pause to gather her thoughts. “My suspicions were confirmed. She is, indeed, an Interceptor from an alternate world. Perhaps one that is close to a timeline I had observed in the past, long before my first descent onto Aevium.”
“Wait wait wait!” blurted Imani, utterly dumbstruck by the revelation. “What do you mean ‘my version of events’? And what’s this about a ‘timeline you’ve observed’ and your ‘descent onto Aevium’?”
(Everyone shifted uneasily at Imani’s cries of confusion.)
“You, uh... may want to sit down for this,” advised Melia, offering a strained smile. “It’s quite a long story.”
(Imani glanced around, before giving a shaky nod and sat down onto a nearby chair. She stared at Hauyne expectantly, awaiting her explanation.)
“...Well, I’m sure you know this already,” started Hauyne, maintaining an even tone. “We Interceptors are beings summoned from a different world. One with no ties to this one, so that we may act as impartial judges to determine the ultimate fate of this world.”
(Imani nodded.)
“That is not the case for me,” she continued, walking a few measured steps towards Imani. “Because I originate from a particularly unique world. A world whose peculiar nature allows its inhabitants to observe the timelines of alternate dimensions as spectators, including this one, through media of creative expressions. Not that they’re aware of this, mind you.”
‘I certainly didn’t,’ she thought to herself bitterly. ‘If I knew, I wouldn’t have been so arrogant and callous.’
“You can see why I don’t make for an impartial judge,” she said, her lips curled into a self-deprecating smirk. “I was already biased from the get-go. From the moment I took on the mantle of the Interceptor, I was determined to change things. No matter what it took. After all, I had foreknowledge of the events to come in my arsenal, from years of observing worlds similar to this one.
“That... had varying degrees of success,” Hauyne let out a weary sigh. "While I was able to change certain things for the better, most of it... didn’t.”
(Imani’s eyes widened.)
“Either things end the way it was always meant to be,” she continued, forcing the rising bile back into her throat. “Or, it took a turn for the worse. All because of my own arrogance.”
(Silence.)
“Then...” said Imani, tentatively shattering the fragile silence. “What changed?”
(Hauyne looked away, her expression riddled with guilt and shame.)
“Alain’s alive,” she forced the words out. “I was able to save her and Crescent from their fated deaths in Storm-9, back in the days of my first descent. She later joined the Stormchasers and became Crescent’s partner, but defected at some point.”
(And Hauyne continued to ramble on about her version of events.
About how she revealed Melia’s staged death to Venam and Ren in an attempt to prevent him from joining Team Xen, only to fail miserably when Crescent found other means to manipulate him anyway.
About how she managed to prevent Nancy’s death in Blacksteeple - earning herself a massive, hideous scar from the good Madame herself in the process - only for her to die in Valor Mountain anyway. Killed by the cruel vindictiveness of Geara, in the same way she was destined to die in her first second death.
About how she prevented Aelita’s coma, only to make things worse as she was brought to verge of death in the alternate future and unravelled the chains around her heart. This time with far worse consequences that it should have.
About how she managed to avert the bombing by joining Team Bladestar as a mole, only to be subdued with laughable ease by Flora and nearly fell victim to her disgusting contraption.
And the list goes on... so many sins, so much blood on her hands. All because she couldn’t keep a lid on her hubris. All because she still treated everything like it were a game, despite her better judgement. And, inevitably, she paid a steep price for her arrogance.)
(By the end of it, Hauyne felt like she had confessed every single one of her sins to a total stranger. One who is now staring at her with wide, horrified eyes. Like she were a monster she wasn’t wrong she had every right to. How she detested that look. How it brought the ugly cocktail of emotions back to the fore. And oh, how she hated that she was simply awaiting for judgment that will never come. As though she had already given up, despite everything.)
“And yeah, I think that covers it,” she concluded, struggling to keep the emotions out of her voice.
‘Damn it, what was I thinking?!’ she chided herself, tears beginning to well up in her eyes. ‘I should have just kept my mouth shut and let someone else do the talking.’
(No one said anything, and a pregnant silence descended upon them.)
“W-well,” said Aelita, breaking the uneasy tension. “I think we should move on to discussing what we should do next. All in favour?”
(Everyone chimes their agreement, all too eager to escape the grim atmosphere brought upon by Hauyne’s confession explanation. Hauyne simply nodded, not trusting herself to speak after that stupid blunder.)
“So to recap,” said Erin, furtively throwing Hauyne another concerned look before shifting it away. “We don’t know much about this new anomaly that brought Imani here. All we can do is keep an eye out, and be on our guard. As for you, Imani.”
(Erin fixes a hard look at the person in question.)
“You’ll be joining us for now, until we find a way to take you home,” she explains. “And since Hauyne was the one who found and vouched for you, she’ll be assigned as your guide in this world. Is this acceptable?”
“Y-yes!”
“I have no objections.”
(Everyone similarly voiced an unanimous agreement.)
“With that, this meeting is adjourned,” announced Erin.

(Sleep had eluded Hauyne, just as it had for countless nights before.)
(It’s not that she needs it, being essentially a disembodied soul inhabiting a replica of her original body. Even so, old habits simply die hard, and Hauyne just couldn’t function without a good night’s rest or at least a short nap. It was... strangely comforting if she dared to admit, knowing that despite being biologically immortal thanks to the Black Box, her mind remained unchanged from its original state.)
(Letting out a sigh, Hauyne reluctantly got out of bed. If she couldn’t fall asleep, might as well meditate the night away...)
One of those nights?, spoke Kali from her corner of the room.
(It might be because of her own pride as a Mythical, but Kali absolutely detested being in her Pokeball. Not even to rest for the night. She’d much rather travel beside her partner and trainer, only retreating into its confines when the situation demands for it. Like when she fainted in battle, though those occasions have gotten less frequent over time... very few opponents boast the capability to defeat the Zeraora in battle these days.)
(Hence, her own corner designated for her use. Though it was nothing more than a humble bedding haphazardly built from cushions, pillows and soft blankets.)
“Unfortunately,” she replied, her lips curled into a rueful smile.
Care to share your thoughts?, asked Kali, pushing herself into a cross-legged position.
(Hauyne told her partner about her thoughts, about their strange new guest and of her Primarina whose presence had inadvertently triggered memories of her time before Storm-9. All this while, Kali listened attentively, occasionally letting her concern show.)
...I see, she said as Hauyne’s words trail to a close. The Zeraora seemed saddened by their teammates’ deaths, as well. I had hoped you wouldn’t have to go through the pain again.
“...As painful as it was,” Hauyne spoke, her voice strained. “I’d rather remember it than staying blissfully unaware of their sacrifices. It’s... it’s just not fair to let their efforts be forgotten to time.”
(Neither of them said anything to that. Pregnant silence descended upon them, which Kali was quick to disperse with another question.)
And what of our guest?, she inquired curiously. Imani, I believe her name is?
“What about her?” repeated Hauyne, bemused. “She’s another Interceptor, in a world where Ariana had been the one to sacrifice herself for Crescent. There’s nothing to discuss.”
But you cannot deny your curiosity about her, yes?, prompted Kali, a sharp look entering her eyes.
“...Yeah,” she admitted in a soft murmur, bringing her knees up and resting her head atop it. “I may have already known how her journey had transpired, but... I wanted to hear it from her. To... to know that I hadn’t made the wrong choice in interfering Fate’s Passage despite my lack of authority, back on that cliff. That m-our teammates hadn’t sacrificed themselves in vain.”
You’re still guilt-ridden about this, commented Kali, in a neutral tone. It wasn’t a criticism, nor was it an opinion. She was merely stating a fact, loathe as Hauyne wanted to admit it.
“I suppose I am,” Hauyne said with a mirthless chuckle. “It was never my place to decide who gets to live or not, yet I did it anyway. Out of hubris of believing I could do no wrong simply because I had seen a few potential futures, and my own disgusting selfishness. That’s something I can never forgive myself for.”
(Silence permeated the darkened room.)
That... may be true, Kali admitted. But what’s done is done, as cold as it sounds. All we can do is keep walking to the end. If not for ourselves, then at least for the sake of those we have lost, and for those we can yet save.
“Oh?” Hauyne’s smile turned into one of playfulness. “Is that a quote I hear?”
It is quite an inspiring one, Kali replied with an equally mischievous smirk of her own.
“Heh, but you have a point,” she relented, lazily stretching herself. Her bones let out a few satisfying cracks as she did so. “Still don’t feel like sleeping tonight, though.”
Understood, nodded Kali, preparing to return to her slumber. I presume your mind has been set at ease?
"Far from it,” retorted Hauyne playfully. “But... it’s much better than before, anyhow. So thanks. For letting to talk it out, I mean.”
You are welcome, was the Zeraora’s fond reply. Then, I bid you goodnight. My dear partner.
“Same to you,” she said with a tiny laugh.
(Silence reigned once more, this time one of a companionable sort. Her mind put at ease, Hauyne adjusted herself into a seiza position, and began to meditate. Perhaps, if she’s fortunate enough, the meditation would lull her into a dreamless sleep.)

Truth be told, she doesn't know why her feet had led her to this place, and at such an odd hour too. Regardless, there was a nagging feeling deep inside her insisting that it's of utmost importance.)
(And if there's something Hauyne had learnt, it's that her intuition had never led her astray.
And even then they knew each others' limits, so there's no danger anyway.)
(Suddenly, Kali stilled. Her eyes fixated towards a vaguely north-eastern direction.)
"Kali?" prompted Hauyne, feeling herself tense up in anticipation.
There's someone over there, she whispered.
"Let's go," she murmured, not needing to turn around to know that Kali had given her a nod in agreement.
(The two bolted across the desert with preternatural speeds, covering much distance within the blink of an eye. It wasn't long before their stranger-in-need was within earshot.)
"Flynn?! Arrow?!" yelled the girl, her voice quickly fading away into nothingness despite its impressive volume. "Are you guys there?!"
'Wow, she's got quite the pair of lungs,' Hauyne thought to herself wryly.
Now is now the time for jesting, dear partner, Kali chided her in a gentle tone.
(Hauyne scoffed lightly, rolling her eyes playfully at Kali's reminder. Still, the Zeraora had a point. Now isn't the time to fool around; not when there's someone in need.)
"ANYBODY?!"
(Both Hauyne and Kali jumped slightly at the sudden booming voice, startled.)
"Hello there!" she hollered back, quickly shaking off her stunned state. It was better to let her know of their presence as soon as possible anyway.
(With a final burst of speed, the two leapt over a dune, sliding down its slope and towards the stranger. She seemed astounded to see them, as though she couldn't believe that her cries for help were answered so soon.)
"Oh, thank Arceus," the stranger heaved a sigh of relief. "I thought I was-ARGH!"
(The stranger crumpled to the ground, whimpering, one hand nursing the side of her head. Alarm seized Hauyne in an iron grip. This situation looks a lot worse than she had dared to presume...)
(Without skipping a beat, Hauyne knelt down and took her head gently in her grasp. A soothing azure light washed over the stranger, and she could feel her relax somewhat beneath her touch. Soon, the pained whimpers had quieted.)
"Healing isn't my strong point," she admitted, retracting her hands away from the stranger's head once she's certain that she had healed what she could. "But I can at least lessen the pain. How are you feeling now?"
"B-better," the stranger stammered, shakily rising to her feet. Kali placed her paw on her shoulder, slowly and gently guiding her back to the ground.
Don't stand up so fast, advised the Zeraora. You'll only make the headache worse.
(She nodded, careful not to trigger another headache.)
"...This isn't the place for idle chitchat," said Hauyne, scanning their immediate surroundings with an enhanced sight.
(She doesn't like how the Cacturne had been eyeing them hungrily, like they were easy prey, in the distance. Just out of range for a normal human's sight. A frown crept over her usually dispassionate face.)
'Shouldn't they know better not to mess with me when I unleashed hellfire on them a few nights ago?'
"Come with me. I know a place where you can rest for the night."
"Wait!" the stranger blurted out. "Can... can you at least tell me where I am?"
(Hauyne bit her lip, hesitating for a moment before obliging.)
"We're in the middle of the Zorrialyn Desert," she replied coolly. "Meaning we can't stay here. Not unless you want to be Mandibuzz food. Or Cacturne. Take your pick."
(She could feel Kali's reprimanding glare drilling into her. Admittedly, she could stand to be nicer, but honestly she doesn't want to stick around too long to find out whatever nasty plot the Cacturne had been cooking up. Dark-types...)

🍆 🍩
🍆: Do you have any favourite form of affection, physical or otherwise?
Hauyne: I would say it's gift-giving, or acts of services. I'm not really a touchy-feely person, so physical affection is usually a no-go for me especially when it's someone I'm not close with. But... I'm alright with hugs. They're always great when you're having one of those moments. Just don't overdo it.
Orion: For me, it would be a tie between physical affection and quality time! I consider myself to be an affectionate person, so I like giving and receiving any forms of affection.
🍩: What's a crime you are most likely to commit? What's a crime you're most likely to get arrested for?
Hauyne: Um.... this is a weird question to ask. Why don't I just list down the crimes I already committed, just to make it easier? From the top of my head, I helped steal a Xen warship, "borrowed" a yacht to get into the then-restricted West Gearen (we returned the yacht in relatively good condition, don't worry), attempted to break into a hospital to steal a cure for a friend, murder (it's complicated) and possibly trespassing into private property as well as petty theft. I think there's more, but I honestly don't remember anything besides the ones I already listed.
Orion: I'm in the same boat as Hauyne here. Some of the things I did (that I can recall) are lying to the police, joining and helping said gang steal a Pokemon, and... actually, I think that's it. I wouldn't really say they're crimes, to be honest.

2, 5, and 23 ?
No. 2 (Who is your best friend?) Hauyne: Tough question. I've made plenty of friends throughout my journey, and personally I'm very fond of them. However, if you were to ask me which of my companions stuck by me the longest... that would be my partner and ace, Kali. I couldn't have asked for a more dependable and loyal friend than her. Orion: My best friend? Well... it might sound weird to some people, but my significant other is also my closest friend. I'm truly, incredibly blessed to have her in my life.
No. 5 (What do you like to do in your free time?) Hauyne: In order of preference: sightseeing, drawing/reading, hanging out with friends, and battling. It goes without saying that I've gained some notoriety for disappearing off to who-knows-where when the mood strikes me, only to reappear exactly when my presence is missed - sometimes with souvenirs in hand. My friends are pretty exasperated with my tendency to simply vanish without a word, but I can't help it! Orion: Not exactly a hobby, but a few of the League Officials and I have made it a game to see which of us could convince Adrienn to leave xyr office and take a well-deserved break the most. It's... a work in progress, but xe is getting a bit better at not overworking xemself to death. I really worry for xir health...
Other than that, I like to play the piano on my spare time. I sometimes perform in cafes and restaurants with the owner's permission. There's just something nice about knowing that people enjoy your music, you know? Of course, I never perform in public as myself due to some incidents in the past. I usually have my Zorua slap on an illusion on me before I go, though some (especially my colleagues in the Reborn League) still manage to recognise me despite my efforts... No. 23 (Have you ever had a crush on someone? Do you have a crush now?) Hauyne: (She's blushing up a storm, but says nothing. Orion shoots her a sympathetic look, discreetly turns to the camera and mouths "For both questions: yeah, she does. She's just too shy to admit it".) Orion: The first question: of course. Though, the early parts of my love life were... less than fortunate, to put it lightly. For the second question, does it count if I say I have a crush with my girlfriend, even though we've been going steady for nearly eight years? ...No?
