not to beat a dead horse but i kind of didn’t like desmond asmr’s arranged marriage audiobook,, yes yes i know the argument ‘dont listen to it if you dont like it’ and i agree to an extent. however, the moment he attached a certain type of voice to the listener, he (imo) has automatically attached a part of the listener’s identity, which is their voice.

i think it’s probably just me who feels this way but i just had to get it off my chest 😭 i know desmond’s not like erik from redacted where literally anyone can listen to his audios due to the gender neutrality of it (since desmond uses she/her pronouns and specifically tags his works for m4f).

I've kinda just realized how much the asmr and audio roleplay community has changed my life, specifically being in the scythe audio and escaped audio community mostly. I literally use those aduios to gauge how my mental health is currently doing, as I tend to listen to them less when it's going bad, and they have also been the thing to actually get me to smile, or cry, or feel scared, on the days where I don't feel anything at all. I seriously admire the hell out of these crazy guys. They're just doing what they like and being wild while they do, while seriously being some of the kindest people I've seen, and they seem to bring in some more in the communities around them. I know it sounds weird, but I seriously hope that whoever I become in the future, that person is like scythe and escaped.

re: the last anon... you guys do know Scythe has an irl job and a life outside of audios right? Also, he has been uploading stuff. I love his stories too but i'm ok with waiting cause I understand that he can't be spending all day every day on audios and stuff. Not to mention as someone who also has adhd, motivation can be a real issue and if he forced himself to write or create then he wouldn't be happy with the results. What he does put out, regardless of time, is really high quality both in writing, production, voice acting, etc. and the fact that he releases it for free is a blessing for the rest of us. The exchange is that we should be patient and respectful of his upload schedule.

Because there are people who shame others for liking this kind of content.

It's seen as stuff only lonely or weird people listen to. The genre of content the majority of the people who ACTUALLY listen to this stuff isn't what people normally think of this type of content.

It also doesn't help there's famous or influential YouTubers reacting to Asmr/audio rp content and calling it cringe or over reacting. Some of the stuff isn't about sounding or being sexy but if it isn't then they don't bother to listen

I wish more people were accepting of asmr boyfriend things. Bc it's not even that bad it's just like a story, like I remember telling my friend about one creator bc I really like the story line and being so worried about his reaction to it. But he just said oh that's cool, like why can't people understand that there's different types of asmr stories. Yeah there's sum that are smut but there's others that it's just a really good story. Like one of those that have a voice over, it's kinda like that.

There's been negative vibes so I have some positivity. My favorite thing about escapedaudios is that his characters are losers. Even with an archtype that's stereotypically badass like a vampire hunter? Alphonso is low ranking and a dweeb and I love him for it.
