🚨EMERGENCY! PLEASE READ!🚨
Moataz @moatazart, Mariam, and baby Maria are set to make the dangerous journey from Gaza City in the north to Rafah in the south. From there, God willing, they will enter Egypt.
HOWEVER, the money they had allocated to procure shelter and food while in Egypt was utterly depleted by exploitative fees and hidden costs, which we break down in this post. Moataz speaks more on the situation in this post and on his own blog @moatazart, which we ask people to follow and boost. They have a fund going to raise the remaining money, but the fund only has a week and a half left before it closes! They are not even halfway to their goal!
Please share what you can with Moataz’s family so they can find safety and security in Egypt! They have no one in Egypt with whom they can stay and currently nowhere near enough money to secure shelter! After all they have survived, please don’t let this young family be left vulnerable! If they cannot procure food and shelter, they will be extremely vulnerable not only to the dangers of homelessness, but to groups and individuals who prey on refugees!
Safety for Gazan refugees does not end with leaving Gaza! If this campaign is not finished in LESS THAN 2 WEEKS, they will be homeless in Egypt! They are so close to a fresh start, please don’t let all the risks they are taking to find safety be for nothing!

my favorite thing paul does in interviews is when he mentions a beatles song and then starts singing it to make sure people know it, like he'll say "we were performing she loves you, you know 'she loves you yeah yeah yeah...'" like you literally don't have to do that. everyone knows that song. you are paul mccartney

it’s honestly insane how much dan and phil do to try to be as accessible to everyone as possible. and they litteraly only get better.
like for the three tours:
you can watch tatinof on youtube premium, and while that’s great, you still have to buy youtube premium. you could get it then cancel it, but then you’d only be able to watch it once.
for ii, they were able to put it on dvd, which is great! you still have to buy the dvd, but you can watch it as often as you want.
and then we have wad. first, he was able to do a screening with a pre and post show at the end of feburary, but you still had to pay at least $15 for it, and you could only watch it for 48 hours.
we all knew dan wanted a place for it to stay forever, but i think it’s safe to say that we all assumed we’d have to buy it one way or another. even when he announced it was going on youtube, there were people, myself included, that had a tiny thought in the back of their head that we’d have to pay for it, cause why wouldn’t you? our society runs on capitalism and this is a huge, insane, and expensive project, it makes sense for it not to be free, and yet dan made it accessible for litteraly anyone with an internet connection. i dont think people realize how huge that is, and i respect the hell out of him for it.
even with phil, we all joke about capita£ester cause of all the sponsorships (and it being fucking hilarious), but you can still tell, he doesn’t like to hold people hostage like that, even with society telling him to. even if he isn’t always as explicit as dan. even with the sponsorships, every time he takes the time to still make them as entertaining as possible as if to say “yeah i know this is awful, but hey! at least i didn’t put a paywall on all my videos and then take it down a day later cause people were calling me a capitalist pig!”
everybody should really appreciate everything they do, or at the very least try to do, despite all of society’s bullshit telling them otherwise
i’m proud to call them my dads

when I see something dated 2019 I think “oh that’s not too long ago” and then I remember that 2019 was not only five years ago but those five years have somehow contained several lifetimes

nobody's perfect all the time, however some have every little word dissected by many and intent projected upon them, usually unfairly. i couldn't imagine my every move being under a microscope like that! even as a queer person i'm not always a fantastic example, and part of that is unlearning old behaviours. i think it's also easy to judge from a 2024 perspective when you've basically been raised differently by online societal standards, versus being older and personally experiencing the before.
i don't think it's dissecting every little word to say that i'm not 100% on board with a straight public figure saying homophobic slurs to a crowd at a con he chose to participate in. i also think i addressed the "before" pretty clearly in my first post. i get that he experienced this firsthand. i also think it's every person's responsibility to continue to question things as they get older. to a certain extent, it's also a fandom's responsibility to not uncritically uphold a real guy as an ally.
it kind of seems like we're at an impasse. i do totally respect and empathise with where you're coming from. i also think that "he's human" means that it's also okay to critique someone. i don't think i'm doing this in an intensely negative or personal way. i'm not calling misha collins mean names, i'm not saying i hate him, i'm not saying he's annoying or whatever. i just don't love how he approaches his relationship with the queer community some of the time.
i know it's easy to lump in people who disagree with you as people who hate the person they're critiquing, but i actually think it's important to speak about someone's actions in a nuanced way because they are an actual person and to view them as such. misha seems to me like someone who is trying really hard to be supportive of the queer community and i think that is noble. i also think that he needs to be more mindful of that approach and that people need to stop enabling him when he does things that have the potential to cause actual harm to people. however, i don't think he has bad intent like you seem to be implying, and i don't think i implied that in either of my previous posts either.
do i think misha collins is (at least trying to be) a decent person? yes. do i think he has several extremely harmful takes on issues such as the ongoing palestinian genocide? yes. do i think he has been through a lot in his personal life in the past few years? yes absolutely. do i also think he should be more thoughtful about how he presents himself in situations he is literally choosing to be in? also yes. do i think he needs to speak on every issue? no! and i sometimes wish he wouldn't! i understand your empathy about public figures but again, he literally chooses to speak on these things. he's a complicated person and we are all complicated people. i'm not cancelling the guy for christ's sake i'm just saying i didn't like that he said a couple slurs 😭
i'm going to stop responding to these, at least at the length that i have been, but i do hope you have a good night (assuming these are all the same anon) and that you consider what i've said here.

I know there are a lot of jokes about Sam witnessing Destiel over the years, but can we please talk about this moment? Do ya'll see the way he's watching Dean and Cas interact? It's making me go insane.

Friendly reminder that asking your lycan partner to turn you is incredibly insensitive! Seriously can we retire this trope already? Not only is it just offensive, but no one would ever actually choose this life! Lycanthropy is a curse. Full stop.
🐾 superhowllock69 Follow
Ok user "moon-moon" as if that original meme wasn't created to mock pack nomenclature 🙄
Anyway I'm not gonna touch that internalized lycanphobia with a ten foot pole. Being turned by your partner is something that can be incredibly intimate as long as both parties are consenting and the one being turned is 100% sure they want it. Literally the only downside to transforming once a month is the pain, but midol works just fine. No one with these "lycanthropy bad" takes ever wants to discuss the legitimate positives that come with this "curse" lmao.
🐺 moon-moon4w00 Follow
I'm literally reclaiming moon moon but go off I guess. Anyways turning your partner is absolutely disgusting and morally reprehensible and anyone who does it should be muzzled permanently.
🌜 impawssible Follow
lmao my wife literally saved my life when she turned me but i guess she should be muzzled huh? we run through the woods hunting deer together and can each haul in groceries in one trip now, but nooo she's obviously a danger to society because she cares enough about me to help me when insurance wouldn't cover my medicine
also it was confirmed that the creator of that meme literally makes and sells silver bullets so if you still wanna use moon moon for yourself that certainly is a choice. source: (X)

I love that instead of naming the more common benefits of lycanthropy, you mentioned that you and your wife can carry all the groceries in one trip. I think that's definitely a positive that gets overlooked far too often and I commend you for speaking your truth, sir

They ARE offensive and harmful to this community and I'm tired of pretending they're not. They perpetuate harmful depictions of what a humanoid wolf is actually like.

there is also like, an even greater context in that he was talking to a british audience. the shortened f slur to them is just another word for a cigarette, so it's not quite so scandalous to actually say out loud. on the topic as a whole he has actually said something very similar in the past at a ce con in america and omitted actually saying any, just mentioned it in a broader sense. just food for thought.
so first, i'm not sure that if he's talking explicitly about homophobia and then says "fag," the audience is going to go, "oh are we talking about cigarettes now?"...while it is slang for a cigarette, people still use that slur in a homophobic way in the uk, and he's also well aware that what he says at cons gets broadcasted internationally. this is kind of a moot point to me.
my issue also isn't that it's scandalous, my issue is more that it could be a reminder of really painful memories for queer people and even i—as a queer person who reclaims the slur—try to be mindful of that in group interactions.
i agree with your view of the things he said as a whole on the topic being good. i think it's great that he's mentioned this before and it is a topic to be commented on. however, i don't think it's great that he chose to say slurs this time. you can disagree with that, but i think he really needs to start being a little more thoughtful in how he goes about being an ally

not sure if you've been let know the context of why misha said the f slur so! he was talking about how blatant homophobia used to be so easily accepted way back, including liberal use of slurs, and how amazing it is that that is no longer acceptable. that we've evolved as a society and with that has come better representation in the media, as it should be. hope this helps! (seeing it taken out of content is both disappointing and not at all surprising tbh~)
i'm aware of this dw!! thank you though!
i think this is certainly better than him saying it in another context, and to a certain extent i think that he is likely someone it has been used in a negative way against, but i also don't know that it necessarily enhanced his point to, as a straight dude, outwardly say homophobic slurs out loud to an audience that included a lot of queer people in it. i also don't think that making a good point really excuses the use of slurs, although i understand where you're coming from, and again, this is obviously better than just...saying it.
i think it's definitely a complex situation, and i don't necessarily think he was wrong here, but it is a little odd to present yourself as a super duper ally while also doing things like this.
maybe more importantly, this is another chain in a pattern of his behavior. if your brand is gay people while you're a straight guy, it's not necessarily bad or wrong, but with misha it does start to toe the line between support and attention-seeking behavior knowing that he gets support from us for a very clumsy sort of allyship.
i'm not outright uncomfortable with his behaviors, and i think it's good for someone involved in the show and industry to be calling out the bullshit that surrounded dean and cas' relationship, but i do think people need to stop praising him whenever he brings up the queer community regardless of context. sometimes he says great things and is super supportive. but sometimes something he said wasn't the best, and i think it's also fine to point that out.
basically overall my feelings are: he made a good point but he didn't really need to say slurs. also he needs to rein it in a little, but if this is what we have to deal with to have more explicit acknowledgment of the silencing of queer stories in media by people directly involved, i'll shoulder that burden. i just think he needs to stop being so...idk. messy?
