I love Doom Patrol but the lesbianism in it is not.... enough.... jane spends a season and a half in a situationship with shelley Oops! turns out shelley only wanted to fuck her now jane is with some girl we as an audience barely know and who has zero personality (casey you know i love you though but we did not get enough time with you). the only thing is that the main gay character also suffered the same fate at the end (even if many do not see it that way), but larry got time to actually explore his own sexuality and come to terms with it, time and acknowledgement that jane... really just didn't get for whatever reason. i know they wanted to focus on her trauma, but since sexuality/relationships and that kind of trauma often affect each other, they really could've developed jane's lesbianism earlier than late s3. idk

a character type i'm really into is the ex-something - exile, obviously, but also anyone who used to have a role that was also an identity and now does not: ex-mage, ex-assassin, ex-monarch --

it's about loss of identity and recreation of identity; it's about how being an ex-something is impossible because the ghost of what you were haunts what you are now; it's about reshaping the way you see the world and yourself in the world.
