One last game, that's what they told Grian. One more game, and he would earn his reward.

Scar looked at Grian, uneasy, his form shimmering in the setting sun. He watched as Grian gathered the supplies for his starter base.

"I think their lying to you, G." Scars voice was soft.

Grian turned, eyes sorrowful. "No, my love, they promised we'll be together after this."

Basically, an au where the watchers are tricking Grian into believing the bloodshed of his friends one more time will bring his partner back. If anyone has any more ideas for this au, let me know. I'm watching the new Birdbox movie and getting ideas for a much more brutal version of the watchers.
