fun fact about me, when I was a kid in the moshi monsters roleplaying forums I didn't ever refer to my characters as male or female. because I heard that was their sex and I knew I wasn't supposed to be thinking about sex yet
FIRE EMBLEM THOUGHTS. TEARING UP OVER AWAKENING BUT I CAN'T EVEN COME RUNNING AND CRYING TO YOU ABOUT IT BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T EVEN REACHED THE SECOND ARC!!!!!
"Canas says not to be because Eden is family, but..." Jaffar trailed off, "She's not my aunt like she is Nino's."
"Family is whoever you want it to be and judging by what Canas has said, Eden wants you to be family," she answered.
The two of them had been waiting in the courtyard for quite some time. Canas and Nino had already gone inside to see Eden. Jaffar was to accompany them, but this newfound anxiety had gotten the best of him.
How strange! When killing was all he knew, talking to a target was as easy as breathing. Now that the target wasn't someone he had to kill, but rather a woman who wished to be his family, he feared he would do or say something wrong.
"You'll never know if she will hate you if you don't even meet her," Leila said.
It must have done the trick for Jaffar finally stood. He went inside and Leila followed close behind to be safe. As they got closer and closer to the drawing room, his anxiety only grew.
Just outside, they could hear how Canas, Nino and a third unfamiliar voice laughed. Nino recounted a story while Canas added details as she went, completing it together.
They were family. Eden was Nino's aunt, not Jaffar's. He did not belong in that room with them.
"I don't want to be here," he whispered.
Leila took each of his hands, looked him dead in the eyes and spoke, "If Eden is anything like her husband, she won't mind if you "mess up". Give her a chance, okay?"
"...Okay."
Leila's face turned into a smile. Just before Jaffar could open the door, she hugged him and whispered, "You'll be okay, I promise."
He found himself smiling while they hugged. When she let go, he finally built up the courage to open the door.
As he stepped inside and shut the door, she heard how he was met by a trio of greetings and laughter. In no time, he started telling Eden how he first met Nino and how her unending kindness had been what saved him.
While Leila listened, she found she disagreed with what he said. Jaffar was a kind man long before he became a brother and her life was proof of that. Nothing stopped him from following Ephidel's orders and killing her at the dragon's gate, nothing but a desire to do good rather than harm, that is.
Now wasn't the time to burst in and correct him though, she could hear Canas praising him and did not want to intrude.
Head is blurry and the only things that are clear are fe7 and certain to your eternity characters. Some were in my dream and I woke up trying to figure out who the people were and for 5 solid minutes I was convinced Pioran had no name????
