the idea to draw imogen and laudna as this still from céline sciamma’s portrait of a lady on fire (2019) came to me in a dream. might do more movie redraws with these two because digital painting is fun and rewarding!! even though drawing fabric takes so so long. Sometimes I just think about all the ways fate decreed they should kill each other, not love each other, to the point of reenacting a grievous wound dealt by the god controlling yasha to a follower of his enemy, and how enough stupid coincidences and sheer bullheadedness allow them to live a life where Yasha regularly poisons the both of them but Beau is immune and Yasha has eaten so much weird shit she hardly notices. Bless them both. I love them so much.

Not "a bit of a prickly pear with you" as in Beau enforcing work hour restrictions on her brother in all but blood, but "a prickly pear for you" as in a marrow-deep, weary conviction that any second Beauregard is not on the clock is a second where she and Yasha are viably fucking on every horizontal surface and will in fact make it Caleb's problem if he disturbs them. This is a semi-regular occurrence. He canonically has the worst timing.

Thinking about the fact that Yasha would have had to get her "Zadashian in the Streets. Xhorhasian in the Sheets." apron custom made. There's no reason anyone would be mass selling that in Zadash where there's very little Xhorhasians. Yasha had to walk up to someone and ask for that specific apron to be made.

That person had to have questions they weren't brave enough to ask.

Thinking about how fast Fjord gave up that key and about how six months was nowhere near long enough to blot out the stain of the memory of Jester's sightless eyes and still form at Lucien's hand. Nothing matters more than making sure that never happens again.
