also i should probably make Some Kind of tldr style post for bob's background and whatnot so that you all aren't flying blind (heh) but anyway.
full name is robert floyd jr, 26(ish) at the time of the movie's events (because this is top gun and reality doesn't matter), gay and trans (because this is top gun and reality doesn't matter), autistic (because this is top gun and reality doesn't matter). his father is robert floyd sr, former navy pilot And former us president (93-01, a dem) and is now a law prof for his alma mater (probably ut austin). mother is jeanette floyd, a very sweet midwestern woman from minnesota (they met in college, she went out of state for school and he spilled a coffee on her at seven am right before the first lecture of the semester). bob has no siblings and tbh he was kind of a happy accident whoops congrats to the floyds! spent the first eight years of his life (he was born like a Week after robert was sworn in) in the white house and then spent like half his childhood having to learn that most people don't,, live like that yknow. nah robert and jeanette are pretty chill/humble folks for the most part and bob grows up with a similar mindset and would probably give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. he's a nice dude but if you deserve it he'll throw rocks at your skull and make you regret ever being an asshole <3. throwback to robert being a naval pilot and he tells bob stories of it as a kid to the point bob wants to join the navy (that's fine even tho he's too fuckin smart for the military lmao), then he wants to be a naval pilot too (that is less fine but his parents are supportive and robert sr manages to pull like. a string or two for bob's sake).
this is obviously not done yet but,,, have This for now <3

housekeeping.
dialogue prompts from housekeeping by marilynne robinson.
i want to be what i seem to be.
so long as you look after your health and own the roof over your head, you're as safe as anyone can be.
are you afraid of your dreams?
a sense of home might help.
i can hardly believe i'm here.
have you ever been on a train?
it's hard to describe someone you know well.
what would you like for breakfast?
i know it'll be alright, but it makes me mad.
you remind me of someone, but i can't think who.
the fact is, i never did have many friends here.
all of your stories are about leaving.
you must know that some questions aren't polite.
i've never seen such a dark night.
you just did it to see what it was like?
you never know when you might be seeing someone for the last time.
ignorance of the law is no excuse.
is ____ still your favorite?
you're so quiet. it's hard to know what you think.
childhood doesn't last forever. one day you'll be sorry.
i'm in your dreams with you.
everything that falls upon the eye is apparition.
if only the darkness could be perfect and permanent.
did you have a good sleep?
sleep is best when you're really tired. you don't just sleep: you die.
do you want me to tell you what i dreamed?
what do other people talk about?
what perishes need not also be lost.
i can do it myself, you know.
i know you can't help the way you are.
i can't wait until i'm old enough to leave this place.
you're going to have to learn to speak for yourself and think for yourself.
if i think i see smoke, i go walking toward it.
now you're in on my secret.
having a friend is like sitting at night in a lighted house.
to cease to hope would be the final betrayal.
hours and minutes are just the names of trains.
my life seems composed entirely of expectation.
there is nothing to be afraid of. nothing to be worried about.
don't sleep. i don't want to sleep.
don't mind, if they stare.
some things are too sad to tell to anyone except strangers.
i'm used to being lonely. i don't mind it.
of course you're sad. who wouldn't be?
that's how it is with family: you feel them most when they're gone.
every sorrow suggests a thousand songs, and every song recalls a thousand sorrows.
memory is the sense of loss, and loss pulls us after it.
when you fix yourself up, you make a very nice impression.
we have to run. get your coat.
are you all buttoned up? you should have a hat.
