I forgot I posted this and after reading the responses, my reply is, “hmm, still no.”
All these Americans clutching their guns, thinking that being a good guy with a gun can stop a bad guy with a gun …
Does nowhere else have training at retail jobs that explicitly stresses that when confronted with a gun, you don’t try to be a fucking hero. I’m dying to know here.

I’ve never heard a good argument for why any country shouldn’t have compulsory voting.
Every person deserves a vote.

If anyone’s interested, I salvaged everything on Dreamwidth. Not the best format (especially for mobile) but it’s better than nothing ...
Yakumo PDF
Hi there! I also noticed that the tumblr where I was reading Yakumo’s novels has been deactivated but I have found the PDF on this website: https://rektnovelcompilations.wordpress.com/shinrei-tantei-yakumo/
Enjoy!

I mean when I was a kid I went looking for squirt shit and LIED ABOUT MY AGE what with the "are you 13/18 or above" disclaimers
Do kids not do that anymore
the older you get the more conscious you need to be about kids in fandom spaces…. things is different now. might have been “okay” to talk about smutty shit with adults back when you was a kid on livejournal in 2001 but its 2017 now and u need to be the mature, actual adult that understands boundaries. dont continue a chain of adults exposing children to sexual content just because its “okay” in fandom spaces… wish i knew how to speak english on a basic fucking level to get this poitn across lol

Wow. ‘Cause all that time was just spent on character sheets and not, like, everything else that was discussed in previous updates.

the ao3 discourse is interesting to me bc i feel like theres a big disconnect between ppl who Were There For Strikethrough of course but also in a more general way, people for whom Strikethrough was not a Weird Anomaly – people who grew up in the late 80s/early-mid 90s climate of BANNING JUDY BLUME BOOKS FROM LIBRARIES BC AN ADULT WROTE TEENS DOING SEX ! and stuff… like… ppl for whom “disingenuous right-wing ~for the family~ morality org claims to wanna protect vulnerable people but SOMEHOW MIRACULOUSLY ends up just banning kids from reading about sex or gay shit or talking about having been raped” is really… just… the norm. like. thats the baseline of this discourse… that’s… you know. i dont know. i dont mean this in a YOU GOTTA UNDERSTAND WHERE WE WISE OLD PPL ARE COMING FROM thing i mean it in a … i genuinely think that there are two paradigms here and that it is probably hard to grok aspects of them if you grew up in a cultural atmosphere which can lead you to claim ~Strikethrough was an anomaly~ rather than the system working as intended. Strikethrough wasnt a Good Protective Thing which ON THE EDGES also ACCIDENTALLY took out a FEW “innocent” comms and journals… Strikethrough did what it was intended to do, and it was only one incident in a long, looooong history of organizations like that one doing, or trying to do, the same damn thing,

You keep calling people ‘ugly’ as an insult why tho.
imagine being so ugly that you think being ableist is a Phenomenal Clapback just because you can’t come up with even one (1) argument

honestly I don’t even care why ao3 was created, if you defend their policy of not deleting horrible works, or are otherwise completely uncritical/forgiving of their mistakes because “but they’re by fans for fans”, you’re a piece of shit
horrible tropes and abuse have always been a part of fandom and fanworks, but it’s super gross that a bunch of fandom elders (who are most likely at least in their thirties) continue the tradition of citing “don’t like don’t read” as a good enough excuse to write child porn, abuse, rape, sexual slavery, etc. AND they collect thousands of dollars each year to fund this through donations
like. they are literally putting money into abusive content being published on their site. where people of any age, even pre-teens, can access it. for example, I could never report people posting alec/women stuff despite it being homophobic, because it doesn’t violate their terms. I can’t report pretty much anything, because as long as you’re not plagiarizing, it’s all good
yeah, ao3 is great as a concept, but allowing abusive, homophobic, racist, etc. material to be published on your site because “fuck the pc police/moral crusaders” is appalling and fuck ao3 tbh. not to mention they’ve had really disgusting people as members on their board, so it’s pretty obvious what kind of people are in charge of this site

Respond to an ask about imagining pro-lifers complexly.
Go to bed.
Wake up to this.
Uh Oh….
Before I even click on that, let me say:
1. I believe a woman’s right to control her own body is non-negotiable and that people who want to deny that right are wrong.
2. Anyone who holds a belief as strongly as many pro-lifers do is going to be much more likely to be cruel, radical, and dangerous.
3. Empathy is not sympathy. Understanding people you disagree with is vital to progress, and immediately lumping all pro-lifers into the same category of woman-hating extremists seems counter-productive to me.
4. I’m coming at this as a person who society is all about granting recognition and control to and this issue does not affect me directly so I probably should have shut my mouth from the beginning.
OK, I’m going to go click on that now. Maybe it’s just a bunch of people asking my opinion of “The Magicians” my favorite new TV show…in that case, simple answer, it’s really good you guys.
