Hey everyone!

It’s been such a wild, but fun ride hasn’t it? It’s been a blast to be a part of this amazing project with all the lovely contributors, so we want to thank them for being a part of this journey, too! We can’t thank everyone (buyers, writers, artists, mods, etc) enough! You’re a big reason why this zine was able to become such a success.

Sadly, this will be our main mod’s (Enzou) final goodbye to zine projects, as their job/schedule simply became too busy to continue creating new projects. But we’re all happy they can focus on a new chapter in life.

We’re finally re-opening our shop for our very few leftovers and we moved to Etsy, since we were having a few minor technical difficulties with our previous storefront, which made it harder to process orders. However, without further-ado, our leftover shop is now LIVE!

We hope the New Year has been going great for everyone! We apologize for our lack of updates, but rest assured, we were definitely working hard on getting everything packed and shipped to you! Our 2nd pre-orders were all completed and shipped back in 2019, so even international orders should’ve received their copy by now.

9/17 Production Update

Hey Fellow Villain Enthusiasts,

As you can see with our previous production update, we were having some difficulty with the zine manu we chose to print our second run of books. (If you would like to read up on all the details, please refer to that post).

Sadly, I’ve contacted the warehouse and it seems that our books were not even printed, as they aren’t even sitting around the warehouse, according to the email I received back from one of the warehouse managers.

We don’t know what to say, honestly, but feel upset and betrayed by the company we put our trust in (among other indie creators). Once again, I want to also apologize on my end for not being diligent enough with communication with the company, and only assuming everything was going smoothly. That is still my fault and I’m deeply sorry for those who have to continue to wait for their order.

However, the positive thing about all of this is that I was able to talk on the phone to my bank and since I paid via credit card, I was able to file a claim to get our money back. Temporary funds have been returned to us until my bank conducts a full, complete investigation on the issue, but it’s likely it’ll remain that way, since we never received our products.

Due to this, we’ve been talking to another manufacturer, and rest assured, they are reliable and we’ve worked with them before, so we know they can put out a great product. This time, I’ll do better in communicating with them, no matter how much trust we have in them, just to prevent an issue like this again. However, with our new manu, it will take at least 3 weeks minimum to complete the book, plus and additional week for proofing it to make sure it’s 100% perfect. So the book won’t be completed until perhaps October 18th.

We’re so deeply sorry for the long wait, and as I said before, I understand if some of you would like to cancel your orders. We will never deny anyone a refund for their unshipped order, so please feel free to email us at: [email protected] for any questions or cancellations. And again, thank you all for your upmost patience and understanding with this situation. But we wouldn’t be here without everyone’s support, so from the bottom of my heart, thank you!

If worse case scenario happened and you had to find another company to print the books how long do you estimate it would take for us to recieve them?

Hi Anon!

If it’s the worst case scenario (we really hope not), and have to find another company to print out the books, it might take around October to receive them. Our previous book run had over 700+ books to print, so it took about a month to make, esp with our manus busy schedule, but since the print is a little smaller this time around, perhaps it could take 3 weeks maximum?

The good thing is that we had a list of potential zine manus when we did our research previously, and we already asked most of them for quotes, so all we have to do is send them an email and order them, instead of going back and forth on who would be a good candidate. So I’m grateful for that at least! (Always do diligent research and have back-up options!)

I won’t cancel my order because I really really want this Zine. But if worse case scenario, if the bank won’t let the chargeback happen...what will you do?

We definitely think a chargeback is possible, however if not, I’ll just have to take the financial hit. I want everyone to still enjoy their order, and I would HATE to disappoint those who were really looking forward to the book (especially since we do still have the merch with us at least)! :’)

It’s just upsetting that this didn’t just happen to us, but A BUNCH of other independent creators, too. They seemed like a reliable company too, when I first talked to them, but sadly, there is only so much we can do right now.

9/9 Production Update

Hello everyone,

We hope everything has been well with all of you!

Unfortunately, there might be a bit of a delay with the books, and they won’t be able to get shipped by early October. Here’s what’s been going on, behind the scenes:

We decided to go with Kraken Print for our 2nd print run, since it was going to be about $20 per book to print with our previous supplier due to the lower print run this time around. Additionally, a previous friend of ours recommended them from their previous orders, so we had faith in the company. In the meantime, Mod Blu still had some extra zines and merch I had previously sent them, so they were able to ship out a couple of orders.

If you haven’t heard yet, currently Kraken Print has been ghosting all their customers and stopped paying for their warehouse where they store all the books. You can only imagine how shocked we were to find this out.

However, I also want to blame myself for not being diligent enough while communicating, by not frequently enough checking up with them, so I only have myself to blame. We’re currently trying to get in contact with the warehouse auctioning off the inventory, trying to find out if our books were even made at all, and we’re also looking at other alternative printers in the worst case scenario. Luckily, we paid for the books via credit card, so we will also be filing a chargeback claim to see if we can get our money back if everything else fails.

Would you maybe do a villaintriozine volume 2? I just loved this zine. The art was amazing and you guys did a great job on layout and print and all and i'd love to see more. I guess, with seeing some villain flashbacks now in the manga, there would def. be some new material. But a league of villains or overall villain zine would be cool too!

Thanks so much for your kind comments and support! (We’re so glad you liked our zine that much and we can’t thank you enough for supporting us and all the content creators involved)!

At the moment, I’m currently on a hiatus from hosting future zines while I finish completing my current ones, plus I”ve just gotten too busy to prepare and plan for any more due to personal projects + work. However, once the anime catches up to the villain arc of the manga, it’s possible that both me and Blu will come together to host a villain zine, with a focus on all the League members, instead of just these three. It’s probably 2-3 years away for the anime to catch up ‘til that point, though! I also don’t repeat ideas/concepts, but since I have a HUGE Villain bias, this may possibly be the only exception to my rule ww

Our zine also included an array of art from various guest artists, so we would have to plan accordingly so we can seek future invites. Sorry this is a lengthy answer!

TL;DR - I don’t have plans to host any additional zines, but if my workload decreases and once the anime nears the villain arc, I’ll consider doing a 2nd Volume!

8/15 Update

Hey Fellow Villain Enthusiasts!

We just wanted to let you all know that ALL our merch just arrived (including our enamel pins), so we’re just waiting on our extra order of books! However, some of you may already be getting their orders shipped (since I was shipping out a couple orders last night), so we hope you look forward to receiving them!

Remember, that the earlier you pre-ordered your zine when our shop opened, the earlier in line you are to receiving your copy/bundle, since it’s FCFS. 8)

However, we expect to have every single order shipped out by mid-September at the latest! Sometimes we just need a break from shipping, since it can definitely get a bit hectic, but we always appreciate everyone’s patience! <3
