The way
Warnings: None really.
Pairings: Team Flash, Harry x Reader.
Word count: 1.6K+
A/N: I made something cute again! I’m apparently all in for the cute stuff lately. I was looking on Pinterest to get some ideas and I fell over this. I just knew it had to be Cisco’s line, didn’t imagine it to turn into a whole Harry situation, but it kinda did!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GIF and Prompt isn't mine. Found on google and found on Pinterest.
You had always been an active outdoorsy person. You always played every sport you could find. You’d take long walks with your family, and when you got old enough you went hiking on your own. You had traveled quite a lot, all over the world really.
Lately, it had been some slow days for team Flash, metas were on the down-low, no big current villain to haunt down. So you had convinced the team to come hiking with you. You knew an amazing place just outside of Central City. It was beautiful at sunset, but it was also a bit of a hike to get on top of the small mountain.
It wasn’t everyone who was as excited for it as you were, and a few, or one specific, had been quite reluctant to go. It’s no point, makes no sense to waste our time doing this. Our time is better spent developing our tech than this, you recalled in your memory. Others had been excited and joyful. Oh yes! This would be awesome, it’s going to be so much fun! You had laughed at how excited Barry was to go.
You looked around at your friends, they were like family to you and you were so excited to be spending this time with them. Barry was running in the front with Ralph right on his heels. They had made it into a competition; who could reach the top first? Caitlin and Iris were walking beside you and right behind you were Harry and Cisco, who were of course bickering about something.
“You know, this wasn’t a bad idea Y/N,” Caitlin mused beside you, all you could do was smile and say thank you. You dwelled in the moment, making mental pictures of it, because you knew you would have to go back to the real world at some point. Suddenly you heard a yelp.
“This is my life now. I have climbed this hill and now I will die upon it.” Cisco dramatically exclaimed. “Shut up. We’ve only been hiking for twenty minutes.” You and Harry said in unison causing the two girls beside you to laugh. “You two have a fun way of being quite alike,” Iris ushered. “Have you made up your mind?” Caitlin continued Iris’ thinking. You smiled and shook your head. “Come on, you must know if you want to or not!” Iris said a little louder than you wanted her to.
“Iris, shhh!” You half panicked when Harry glanced at you with an amused look. “I don’t need him to know anything,” you spoke lowly. “At least not until I tell him on my own,” you continued as you looked at your girlfriends. A big smile spread on both of their lips. “Oh yes! You’re going to be so cute,” Iris shrieked.
“Don’t get ahead of yourself Iris. It would have to include that he likes me too, ya know.” You tried to not get your own hopes up.
You had had a crush on the Earth 2 Harrison Wells for quite some time by now. Iris had asked you one day what it was about him that made your heart flutter. At that moment you had said everything, but it had started a thought process over what it was about him.
You could conclude on your own that it was the way his dimples came out when he smiled at you. It was the way he looked at you, that made your knees go soft. It was the way it didn’t matter to you if you understood what he said or not, you just loved to listen to him talk about something he was passionate about. It was the way that he tried to explain it to you, with no annoyance or anything. It was the way it felt when your fingers grazed each other when handing stuff to one another. It was the small hugs at the end of the really long days, that no one saw. It was something only you two had and moments only you shared.
It was how he always put a smile on your lips when you thought of him. The way he made fun with you, told jokes, and laughed with you. He’s the first thing you think of in the morning and the last thing you think of at night.
You glimpsed back at him. His baseball cap tugged down on top of his glasses, his black t-shirt showing his very nice muscled arms, and his sweater wrapped around his waist because it became too hot to wear. Oh yeah, and then he’s just flipping hot and sexy, you thought to yourself.
“Iris come on, you need to see the view from up here!” Barry yelled down to his wife. A big smile spread across her face. “Race you to the top?” Cisco chimed in right beside you. They all shared a look and ran off, leaving you behind with Harry.
“Hey,” He said as he joined you and adjusted his speed to fit yours.
“Hey yourself,” you said as you nudged his shoulder with yours and a smile you couldn’t hide. “Is it as bad as you thought it would be?” You slowly started to converse with him. He breathed in and held it for a second before letting it go in a small laugh.
“Well no, not with you by my side at least,” He smiled as he glanced down at you. His icy blue orbs were filled with enjoyment and warmth. Maybe Iris and Caitlin weren’t wrong when they said he had a thing for you too.
You reached the top with the others just in time for the sunset creating the most beautiful purple, pink, and orange lights across the sky.
“Wow, this is absolutely stunning,” Caitlin pointed out to the rest of the group. “How long have you kept this gem to yourself?” She continued looking back at you.
“Well, not for as long as you would think. I found it a few months ago, just haven’t had a chance to show you guys yet,” you stated.
Everyone fell silent for a while. Barry and Iris were sitting with their legs hanging off the little cliff, and Ralph, Cisco, and Caitlin were joking about something further away. Yourself, you were leaning on a big stone that was stood by a tree. Enjoying the moment. Savoring it as much as you possibly could. Harry came up to lean against the tree beside you.
“Ya know, I was afraid something would happen and ruin this moment. I was expecting a meta alarm to finally go off and take this moment away from us, but it didn’t.” You looked into the horizon, with a dreaming look on your face.
“I think we needed this more than we thought,” Harry caught your attention and you turned to look at him, his hand resting on your shoulder. His features were soft as he spoke. “With Savitar, with the metas, with the Earth X’ers. Having this moment with our family is worth more than anything,” Harry was a quite soft and warm person behind the hard glares, the grumpiness, and the insults.
“Harry, with a risk of ruining this moment, can I ask you two questions?” You turned completely towards him with a soft smile on your lips.
“Sure, though I would bet to say it would equal in three questions, taking the one you just did ask,” He joked and huffed a small laugh. “See, already ahead of you, that was one of the two questions!” You exclaimed poking out your tongue at him. “I know you too well,” You continued and he laughed. His laugh was like music to your ears, you would give anything to listen to it all day.
“Go on,” he pushed. You closed your eyes and took a deep breath before opening them again, looking straight into his captivating ones.
“How do you feel about me?” You spoke lowly scared to say it out too loud.
“How do I feel about you?” He looked puzzled at you. You looked down on the ground before you spoke again.
“I like you, Harry. I like you a lot, and I have for a while now. I just haven’t had the guts to ask, because I’m afraid I might ruin what we have. We have an amazing friendship, and you are by far one of my best friends, and I would hate for it-” you ranted on before you were cut short by Harry.
“Y/N, stop blabbering and look at me,” His hand went to take yours and you looked more at your hands than at him. He crouched down into your view forcing you to look at him, and you followed as he stood up straight again. “I have a hard time going through my day if I don’t see you. It’s like my day isn’t good before I’ve seen your smile. You're the one who brings some light into my life while Jesse isn’t here. I wouldn’t want our friendship to be jeopardized in the slightest bit.” He continued to talk, and you could feel your face fall a little bit at the last part he was saying. “Stop overthinking it, Y/N. I’m trying to say that I like you a lot too, it’s just not coming across the way I want it to,” He laughed nervously as his hand went to scratch the back of his neck.
You looked up at him, removing the last part of space between you as you stepped up to kiss him. His hands found their way to cup your face and yours snaked around his neck.
“FINALLY!” Cisco and Ralph yelled out. You laughed against his lips before he started pecking your lips several times in a row. His hands snaked around your waist instead and deepened the kiss. “Okay you two, we get it, you’re in love, now get a room!” Cisco yelled out again.
“Shut up Cisco!” You yelled out in unison again.

Child in Time
Chapter 1
Warnings: implied child neglect, mentioned child death
By now, Barry Allen was fairly confident that nothing could surprise him anymore. He'd been through so many impossible things, done so many impossible things in just the last few months - he'd run faster than the speed of sound, fought multiple metas and supervillains and won - he couldn't fathom what was left that wouldn't feel like just another Tuesday at this point.
The familiar crackle of Speed Force lightning zipped behind him and Barry turned, startled and prepared for an attack, expecting the Man in Yellow. Instead, there was another crackle behind him as whatever it was left and his attention was immediately drawn to a baby carrier, securely placed away from the glass beakers and chemicals in his lab. He approached slowly, cautiously, his brow furrowing. The blanket overtop shifted and Barry flinched before shaking his head at his stupid reaction. It was a baby carrier, not a bomb...at least he was pretty sure.
The blanket moved again, this time distinctly as though something very small had hit it from the inside, and it drew Barry's attention to a piece of folded paper pinned to the top. 'Barry' was scrawled across the front in his own handwriting. Thinking about how bizarre this already was, Barry carefully removed and unfolded it.
I'm sorry I can't explain more. This is Eo, he's 8 months old. You and Iris need to keep him safe. Thanks, Barry
Barry's hands were trembling as he tugged the blanket off, filled with apprehension.
Inside the carrier, chewing on a teething toy shaped like a storm cloud, was a tiny, pale infant with wide blue eyes and the softest wisps of strawberry blond hair, dressed in a light blue onesie. Barry thought he looked like the most stereotypical baby he'd ever seen, like a Gerber baby with his chubby cheeks and long eyelashes. He reached into the carrier and gingerly picked up the little boy who immediately dropped the toy and reached back in the carrier with a distressed sound. His chubby fingers groped at nothing while his little lip wobbled.
"Oh no, don't cry, please don't- oh," Barry said letting out a relieved breath as he reached into the carrier and picked up a small teddy-bear dressed in a Flash costume. "Is this what you want?" He handed the stuffed toy over and the baby cooed and gurgled happily, nuzzling into its fur.
Barry's mind was racing. Who was this baby? Where had he come from? Where were his parents? Why had he brought him…here? In the past? From the future? God, he really needed to get better at explaining things to himself. He had a feeling Dr. Wells was going to kill future him for this.
On top of all the questions, Barry definitely wasn't ready to be a parent - he and Linda had barely started dating and he was only 24, he hardly felt like an adult himself. But the baby was here, now, and he needed someone to take care of him, to protect him from...something. Apparently that someone was him.
Well, not just him. 'You and Iris' the note had said, also. He definitely couldn't put this on Iris, she and Eddie had only just moved in together. He chewed his lip, looking down at the baby again before making up his mind, cradling the infant more securely to his chest, and speeding out of the lab.
The baby chewed on the bear's ear, wide blue eyes tracking everything he could see as Barry arrived in the cortex. Cisco, who had been making his way across the room, paused and pulled the lollipop from between his lips, using it to point at the infant, his brow furrowed in confusion.
"Um, what's that?" He asked. Eo squeaked helpfully in response, tiny feet kicking at the air.
Barry shifted his grip to hold the baby more securely. "Guys, I think we have a problem."
Dr. Wells' keen blue eyes flickered between Barry, Eo, and the bear plush for a moment, seeming to need that moment to process what he was seeing. Barry couldn't really blame him, he hadn't been expecting to have an infant in S.T.A.R. Labs either. After a beat, he wheeled forward and offered his arms to take the baby. Barry handed him off gratefully.
"Indeed. Who is this, Mr. Allen? Where did he come from?" He asked as the baby settled against his shoulder, babbling in his ear and waving his pudgy fist in the air, the bear swinging and nearly knocking off Dr. Wells' glasses. Dr. Wells removed them and set them out of the baby's reach.
Barry shrugged helplessly. "I'm not sure. I guess I - future me, I mean? - brought him back to me - past me. I-I guess he's not safe wherever - whenever - he's from and I thought that I could take him here?"
"Did you just say future you? As in you time traveled?" Cisco asked, looking torn between surprise and excitement at the prospect. "Bro, that's sick!"
Eo babbled loudly as though agreeing. Barry gave another helpless shrug and Caitlin finally set down her work to cross the room and examine the infant.
"He certainly doesn't look related to you, Barry, he shares none of your characteristics - of course, he could be adopted," she added as the baby reached for her.
"Yeah, I dunno. I left myself a note but all it said was he's in danger, he's 8 months old, and his initials." And that he and Iris should take care of him, but he wasn't about to bring that up.
Caitlin hummed. "He looks as though he's hit the growth milestones you'd expect for 8 months. I'd need to give him a proper exam to know for sure."
"He's kinda creepy," Cisco commented. "Like that creepy Twilight robo baby, Chuckesmee. Uncanny Valley, demon baby creepy."
"Cisco." Caitlin chided, giving him an exasperated look.
"What? You can't tell me he's not creepy, look at him!" Cisco insisted, gesturing towards him.
"What are his initials?" Dr. Wells asked curiously.
"E-O," Barry answered, watching as Caitlin took the baby and bounced him lightly. Eo cooed, pulling at a button on her blouse.
"Well, I suppose we should keep an eye on 'Eo' for the time being and hope your future self returns for him sooner rather than later." Dr. Wells said finally, replacing his glasses.
"I'm going to give him an exam, make sure he's healthy. Barry, why don't you go get some baby supplies; bottles, formula, baby food, bibs, diapers, onesies, teething rings, pacifiers," Caitlin listed off, adjusting Eo to her other arm and carrying him to the med bay.
Barry was back with the requested supplies before Caitlin had even set Eo down. The tiny boy immediately pulled her stethoscope into his mouth as soon as it she brought it close, wide blue eyes watching her inquisitively.
"Cisco, can you come distract him while I examine him?" Caitlin asked as she tried to pull the stethoscope away gently so she could press it to his chest and he grabbed a tiny fistful of her hair instead.
Cisco made his way into the room and Barry made to follow but Dr. Wells stopped him. "Barry, a word?"
Barry turned, surprised by the seriousness in Dr. Wells' tone. "Yeah, sure," he replied, following the older man to a the hall.
Dr. Wells folded his hands together, his expression grave. "Barry, I understand your impulse to take responsibility for this child, but this isn't just a matter of caring for a baby. We have no idea what his presence here could change, what potentially has already changed."
Barry nodded, running his fingers over his mouth anxiously. "I know. But I can't exactly take him back, I mean, I don't even know when he's from even if I could. I didn't even know time traveling was a possibility until like 20 minutes ago. And if future me thought it was important enough to bring him here, then I have to believe there's a good reason for it."
"I understand your concern and I'm sure that your future self had good intentions but our main priority should be returning him to his time." Dr. Wells sighed heavily and removed his glasses. "I must not be present in that future because otherwise I most certainly would have told you that this was a terrible, stupid, dangerous idea. The ramifications of the action of bringing him here alone are entirely unpredictable, much less keeping him here for an extended period of time. We need to focus our energies on getting him back home and minimizing the damage, you especially need to focus on that. Until we can return him, I think it best if he stays with me so you don't risk becoming attached."
"Dr. Wells-" Barry started but Dr. Wells lifted a hand to silence him.
"He'll be in good hands, Barry, you don't need to worry. I have experience in the area - I had a daughter, Jesse, and while her mother certainly did more than her fair share of the work, I'm more than capable of caring for an infant." Dr. Wells assured him.
The past tense 'had' made Barry's heart clench and before he could stop himself he asked, "what happened to her?"
Dr. Wells' expression softened. "Jesse passed away when she was still a young child. The car accident that took my wife took her as well, much too soon. She was three."
"I'm so sorry, Dr. Wells. I had no idea."
Dr. Wells waved off Barry's condolences. "I'm not telling you this to garner sympathy, Barry, just to reassure you that he'll be well cared for."
Barry shifted foot to foot, feeling conflicted. On the one hand, he knew Dr. Wells was right. This was probably the safest option for the baby. But on the other, he couldn't shake the feeling of responsibility, that this child had been left with him for a reason.
"I...Dr. Wells, I know you'd probably - definitely - be the better option but I feel like there's a reason I brought him to myself. I promise I'll come to you with any questions I have but I think I should be the one to take care of him, at least for now. I mean who knows what he's even in danger from, whatever it is could hurt you and him both," Barry said finally.
Dr. Wells regarded Barry for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Finally, he let out a resigned sigh and nodded. "Very well, Barry, if you insist."
Barry nodded and returned to the cortex after a moment, feeling strangely guilty. Cisco and Caitlin had Eo on the floor between them, lying on his stomach on a S.T.A.R. Labs sweatshirt to prevent him from making contact with the cold, hard metal flooring. Caitlin pursed her lips as the infant shuffled his feet and waved his tiny arms, seemingly unable to get them underneath himself.
"How is he?" Barry asked, coming to sit between them, next to Eo. Eo rolled onto his side and watched Barry, tugging the sleeve of the sweatshirt up and into his mouth.
"Healthy, for the most part, but he seems...pretty delayed developmentally," Caitlin said with a heavy sigh. "It's hard to tell for certain; infants can't exactly say what they're capable of, but usually if you put them on their stomachs and they're able to crawl then they will do so or at least start to. At this point he should be trying to stand but he won't even army crawl."
Barry's heart sank at Caitlin's words. He looked down at Eo, who was happily chewing on the sleeve of the sweatshirt, oblivious to the conversation happening around him. The weight of responsibility settled heavier on Barry's shoulders.
"Do you think there's something wrong with him?" He asked, fearing the answer.
Caitlin shrugged. "I'm not a pediatrician. I know what milestones he's supposed to have hit at this stage and he seems to be missing a few but I couldn't tell you if they're significant enough to warrant concern."
Barry's mind raced as he processed Caitlin's words. He felt a surge of protectiveness towards Eo, mixed with a deep sense of worry. What if something was seriously wrong with him? What if Barry wasn't equipped to handle it?
"I could run some blood work on him," Caitlin offered after a moment. "I think he's otherwise fairly healthy. He's a good length and weight, his vision is fine, he tracks pretty much everything, and responds to auditory stimulus."
Barry nodded, feeling a mix of relief and dread at the prospect of finding out more about Eo's condition. "Yeah, let's do it. I want to make sure he's okay."

Aftermath
Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Chapter 1: link
Warnings: vomiting
~December~
Hartley took apart his hearing aids with practiced ease. He'd had to repair them more and more often - he'd been hoping to use the money from his next two paychecks to buy new ones but that had been before his unceremonious termination. As it was, he was barely able to keep Hamelin and Erdős and his landlord happy with the money he had left. He'd even considered selling his flute, the only thing he'd managed to keep after being kicked out of his parents' home, but he really didn't feel as though he could bear to part with it, not yet anyway.
Hamelin and Erdős were playing happily in their maze next to his television set which was showing live coverage of the particle accelerator launch. Perhaps it was masochism that compelled Hartley to leave it on or maybe it was only morbid curiosity. He didn't want it to fail, of course. As loathed as he was to be wrong, he'd much prefer it if he was and lives were spared, and a part of him did still trust Harrison's skills - he just feared the man's ego may have gotten in the way. Regardless, he was only half paying attention. He couldn't hear it with his hearing aids removed and it was only visible from the corner of his eye whenever he bothered to glance up. That was probably why he'd missed the moment it all went wrong.
A flash of light outside his window just as he replaced his hearing aids alerted him to the explosion at S.T.A.R. Labs only blocks away but he didn't have time to react as an intense, painful pressure hit his inner ears, followed by the loudest ringing he'd ever heard. He yelped, doubling over in pain and yanking his hearing aids out, assuming he must have done something wrong...but the sound didn't stop. In fact, none of the sounds stopped.
Hamelin and Erdős squeaked loudly in distress, his television still blared the news coverage, the reporter's voice mixing into a discordant mush of syllables with his neighbors' across the hall. Sirens blared on the street below, thunder cracked all around the city, and...and he could hear the distinct, recognizable sound of the alarms at S.T.A.R. Labs coming not from the TV but the building itself. He wanted to focus on that, to focus on anything really, but the pain kept him disoriented and immobile in his chair. What the hell was happening?
Hartley's heart pounded against his ribcage, each beat echoing loudly in his ears, adding to the chaos of sounds assaulting him. He struggled to make sense of the overwhelming auditory onslaught, his mind racing as he fought to regain control. Slowly, shakily, he forced himself to his feet and slammed the TV off, bracing himself on the table next to Hamelin and Erdős's cage.
He'd hardly ever craved silence before - it had never been something he'd needed to worry about, having hearing aids meant he could turn the sounds of the world off at will if he needed to. But now, silence seemed like the most precious thing in the world, something he desperately yearned for amidst the deafening commotion assaulting his senses. It was almost amusingly ironic.
Hamelin and Erdős stuck their noses out of the top of the maze, squeaking incessantly. Hartley wanted to comfort them but he couldn't seem to do anything but grit his teeth and lift his trembling hands to cover his ears, trying in vain to silence the din from the world around him for even a moment. He could still hear the distant rumble of the explosion's aftermath, a constant thrumming beneath the cacophony.
Hartley took several deep breaths before finally lowering his hands to help his pets out of the maze, trying to ignore the piercing ringing in his ears and clamor of the streets below. The rats immediately crawled up his arms and dove for his shirt pocket, their tiny bodies trembling as they huddled as deep as they could go. Was this some sort of side effect of being in such close proximity to the particle accelerator? He didn't know, didn't have any answers, couldn't come up with a damn thing past the noise assaulting his senses.
The chaos outside seemed to grow louder with each passing moment, the wail of sirens and distant shouts blending into a symphony of panic and confusion. Hartley's head throbbed with the intensity of it all, his heart racing as he struggled to maintain his composure. He needed to think, to figure out what was happening and what he needed to do to survive. An ambulance passed beneath his window and the pain accompanying the siren made him collapse hard to his knees and vomit, heaving until there was nothing left in his stomach, stars bursting behind his eyes.
With trembling hands, he wiped his mouth and pushed himself to his feet again, reaching for his discarded hearing aids, hoping to somehow mitigate the overwhelming sounds. He could - fuck, it was so loud - maybe he could alter them, make them cancel out the noise instead of enhance it. He scrambled back to his workbench and fell heavily into the chair, his fingers fumbling for his tools, feeling almost as though the sensory overload was rendering him blind, overriding his other senses.
With a desperate sense of urgency, Hartley began to dismantle his hearing aids once more, his hands moving in a blur as he worked to modify them to counteract the deafening roar assaulting his ears. The pain was excruciating, threatening to overwhelm him again at any moment, but he grit his teeth and pushed through it.
Hours passed in a blur of frantic tinkering, sirens and thunder and the crackle of fire from S.T.A.R. Labs somehow reaching his ears, melding with the occasional squeak from Hamelin and Erdős still nestled in his shirt pocket. Hartley lost all track of time as he worked tirelessly, sporadically overwhelmed by another wave of nausea, his mind consumed by the singular goal of finding relief from the unbearable noise that surrounded him.
Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Hartley held his modified hearing aids in his shaking fingers, his heart pounding with anticipation. With an unsteady breath, he inserted them into his ears and activated them, counting the seconds as he waited for the moment of truth.
And then, miraculously, blessedly, the noise began to fade away. It wasn't perfect but the sounds were now...bearable, at least. He sagged in his chair, scrubbing his hands over his face. Relief flooded through him, mingling with the residual fear and confusion still swirling in his mind. He took a few deep breaths, savoring the newfound calm that enveloped him like the final notes of a sonata. He glanced down at Hamelin and Erdős who peeked out from his shirt pocket, their beady eyes watching him closely.
"Looks like I was right." Hartley murmured. The rats chirped in response, their small bodies trembling against his chest.
He wondered briefly if Harrison or any of his former colleagues had survived. Not that he cared. Harrison certainly deserved whatever Icarian fate had undoubtedly befallen him. Regardless, he supposed, it didn't matter. Whatever happened next, Central City would never be the same and certainly neither would he.

Ohh this is so sweet, I love the fluff!! And I love grumpy Harry slowly softening up, haha
Thank you for tagging me!
I'm Yours
Warnings: None really, maybe a little implied grown-up time ;P Besides that, it’s just fluffy fluff.
Pairing: Harry Wells x Reader
Word count: 1.2K+
A/N: So this is my first posting in what, 4 years? Has it really been that long? Not only that, I also decided to do it with a fandom I have not written for before. I fell into a Flash hole about a few months ago, and I have taken a particular liking to Earth 2 Harry Wells. So consider this as me hopefully coming back, and hopefully having made something cute for y’all. All mistakes are my own!
It's based on I'm Yours by Jason Mraz - was hearing it one day in my car and thought it would be cute! Also I don't own the GIF's, one I found on google and one here <3
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were walking through the cortex, thinking about how you were going to steal the projector Cisco was hiding in STAR labs. A big smile spread on your face as you skipped down the hall. Cisco rarely let anyone borrow it, not even you, his best friend. He loved how you were both movie dorks, but he protected it with his life if he had to. Hence you were now sneaking in to steal it for the marathon weekend you were having with yourself.
You turned towards his workshop, his little lab, or not so much his own anymore. There was a certain Earth 2 scientist that had occupied it. Now wasn’t any different than usual. Harry was sitting in the lab tinkering away at some sort of tech in front of him. You weren’t the engineer or the smart one as your best friend, so you never understood what he and Harry worked on together. Or what they were always bickering about.
You leaned yourself on the doorframe into the lab as you studied him for a bit. His long fingers worked away, tweezing some cords together as he tried applying power to it again. Harry only earned some sputtering from the tech and groaned out in frustration.
“Goddamit how hard can it be?!” He yelled out while tossing the screwdriver across the room. You huffed out a small laugh as you shook your head as the older man in front of you acted like a child who didn’t get his way. You had always liked Harry, you were pretty sure the entire team knew, except for him. The way his outside was so hard, when in fact you knew that Harry’s heart was big and cared a lot for all of you here. He would never say it, but you knew. You two had many small moments together where you turned his frown upside down like only Jesse could. It was one of your assets for the team. Keep Harry from throwing everything around and make him a little bit more easy-going.
“Ya know, maybe you just need a break,” You said while walking into the room, haven gotten a great idea, if you had to say so yourself. “Y/N, what are you doing here?” He asked while turning towards you for a brief moment, only to return his attention to the project in front of him; “Also no, I don’t need to take a break,” he grumbled as he started to tinker away again.
Meanwhile, you had found your phone, this was also one of the things Cisco loved about you, as you found a song to play. “To answer your question, I came to steal Cisco’s projector, but now I think I have a better idea of how to spend my time,” you mused as you closed in on Harry you put your phone down beside him, and pushed play.
You slowly turned Harry in his chair, he looked at you like he could kill you, but all you could do was smile as you started singing.
“Well you done, done me in; you bet I felt it, I tried to be chill but you’re so hot that I melted,” you reached your hands down to Harry’s arms to pull him to stand. “Y/N, I’m not doing this. I’m busy, and you of all people should know I need to get this done,” His voice laced with annoyance and reluctance as you sang. “Well, I don’t care,” You answered while the music shortly played on its own. You forced him to stand, keeping both of your hands in his, as you slowly started to move the both of you.
“Before the cool done run out, I’ll be giving it my bestest, nothing’s going to stop me, but divine intervention, I reckon it’s again my turn to win some or learn some,” You continued as you slowly got Harry to move with you. A big smile played across your lips, your eyes twinkling in the light of the lab. You were looking into Harry’s beautiful blue eyes behind the glasses, and you swore you could see a little glimpse of enjoyment.
“See, it’s not so bad, now is it?” You joked with him earning a small groan from him, but a small smile curved at his lips. He pulled you into him, earning a small squeal from you, as you properly began to dance together.
“Well, open up your mind and see like me. Open up your plans and damn you’re free. Look into your heart and you’ll find love, love, love, love” Your voice continued to ring out as Harry spun you around. “Listen to the music of the moment, people dance and sing, we’re just one big family, and it’s our god-forsaken right to be loved, love, love, love, loved,”
You were having the best time as you were laughing and singing. Having Harry be invested in your idea, actually dancing with you, and not only that, he was smiling. Your heart felt so full. You knew he would be the death of you, with his gorgeous smile and handsome looks.
“I’ve been spending way too long checking my tongue in the mirror and bending over backwards just to see it clearer,” You got caught off guard when you heard Harry’s hoarse voice singing along to the song while you were still swaying to the song together. You had heard it so many times around him, that the genius apparently had learned the lyrics.
“I guess what I be saying is there ain’t no better reason to rid yourself of vanities and just go with the seasons. It’s what we aim to do, our name is our virtue. But I won’t hesitate no more, no more, it cannot wait - I’m yours,” You sang together as the song came to an end you stayed close to each other.
You looked into Harry’s mesmerizing eyes, your eyes must shimmer from all the love you felt towards him. You had your hands at his shoulders and his was around your waist. You had laughed and smiled so much during your dancing that your cheeks hurt, but you couldn’t remove the smile on your lips. Looking at Harry with a rare but equally just as big of a smile as yours, as you were breathing a little heavy after all the dancing and singing.
You thought to yourself how perfect he looked standing there. You could feel yourself getting flustered as you felt his breath on your lips. Before you could stop yourself you leaned up toward his lips. At first, he didn’t respond to it, but it didn’t take him long before his lips moved with yours. Your fingers tangled themselves in his hair, earning a little moan from him. His tongue ran across your lip and you gladly let him enter. His hands on your hips pulled you even closer to him.
As the kiss deepened and became more passionate, his hands moved down to cup your ass and without any words needing to be spoken, you jumped and wrapped your legs around his waist. He walked over to his desk and set you down on it, while his hands came to cup your face instead. You pulled apart for both of you to catch your breath, foreheads leaning on each other.
“Wow,” Was all you could muster to say, as you smiled while biting your lower lip. He gave a small chuckle from the depth of his throat. “Wow, yourself,” he gave you the biggest smile and a wink. “Maybe that break isn’t such a bad idea,” He said hoisting you up to him again, a squeal and laugh escaping your lips.

Warnings: suicidal ideation
Dépite. ひふんこうがい. Martirio.
It was honestly incredible how many words there were for how Hartley was feeling as he left S.T.A.R. Labs for the last time, escorted out by four burly security guards. (That was far too many in Hartley's opinion, probably more for spectacle than any fear on Harrison's part of what Hartley would do.) He didn't want to know what Ramon or Snow or Raymond thought, what lies Harrison would tell them about his abrupt firing. More than likely, he'd make up something about Hartley trying to sabotage their progress. Which was absurd, Hartley had been fiercely dedicated to the project, anyone could see that, but Ramon at least was probably foolish enough to buy it and Snow and Raymond loyal enough to go along with it.
"Get your fucking hands off of me." Hartley snarled as one of the security guards gripped his shoulder when they approached the door.
So much for keeping his cool. But what did it matter anyway, he wasn't coming back here, he didn't need to be professional. The guard merely tightened his grip, giving Hartley a warning glare. Hartley's heart raced with anger and frustration as he shrugged off the hand and stormed out the door.
It was uncharacteristically warm for Missouri in October but he still shivered as a cold sense of betrayal gnawed at his insides. He didn't have anywhere to go, not really. He could go back to the rundown apartment he rented, but what was the point? He felt like little more than a pawn in some twisted game, destined to be sacrificed in the first few moves.
Hartley walked aimlessly through the streets of Central City for what must have been hours. He felt like screaming, like pounding his fists against the pavement until they bled. But he knew it wouldn't change anything.
His mind kept replaying the confrontation over and over again without his permission, the look of smug satisfaction on Harrison's face as he delivered the final blow. So cold, so cruel, so unlike the warm, easy smiles he'd given Hartley on quiet evenings alone. God, he felt sick.
Why did this always happen? Every good thing in his life Hartley had to ruin by opening his damn mouth. He was the common denominator in all of it. It had been his decision to come out to his parents, his decision to go looking for trouble in the accelerator - if he'd just kept his head down, stayed in his place...well, it was too late for that.
It was only the knowledge that he needed to go home and take care of his rats that led him back to his apartment and not off the edge of the nearest bridge. Hamelin and Erdős greeted him as happily as ever when he opened their cage, oblivious to the self-loathing spiral in his head, scurrying up his arms and onto his shoulders to poke their noses into his cheek, begging for treats. Hartley made his way to the kitchen and pulled out the last of the baby carrots from the bag in the fridge, cutting it into small, round pieces.
As Hartley mechanically went through the motions of caring for his pets, his mind kept returning to the injustice of it all. His fury and frustration faded into a bone-deep weariness. He sank into a kitchen chair, his head in his hands, feeling the weight of everything bearing down on him. Hamelin and Erdős paid him no mind, happily munching on carrot slices.
The ache consuming his soul was horribly familiar, his head spinning with a discordant cacophony of memories turned sour. There had to have been warning signs, red flags he'd missed. Harrison wasn't a monster, hadn't seemed so full of hubris that he'd risk the lives of his team and everyone in Central City. He'd been kind, charming...was it all a façade? He'd said he'd loved Hartley, had that just been another lie? Or had Hartley just fucked everything up as he was wont to do?
As Hartley sat there, lost in his thoughts, the despair suffocating, he felt another surge of anger rise within him. Anger at himself for being so blind, anger at Harrison for betraying him, anger at the world for being so cruel - but it left as quickly as it had come, leaving a hollow feeling in his chest. He choked on a sob, the tears hot and bitter, streaming down his cheeks unchecked. He didn't bother wiping them away as he buried his face in his hands, his body trembling as he finally allowed himself to completely break down. He couldn't shake the feeling of emptiness that consumed him. He was alone now, truly alone once again, with no one to turn to and nowhere to go. He felt like the terrified, devastated 17-year-old again, not the capable adult he'd become.
Hartley let out a bitter laugh, the sound hollow and muffled against his palms. What was the point of being fluent in six languages if he couldn't even make himself heard? Harrison had silenced him as effectively as if he'd cut out his tongue and cut off his hands.
Hamelin and Erdős squeaked from the table, finally making Hartley look up again and wipe the tears off of his face. For a moment, Hartley envied them their simplicity. Their world consisted of food, shelter, and the occasional game of hide-and-seek in the maze he'd built for them. They didn't have to worry about betrayal or lies or the crushing weight of loneliness.
Hartley reached out and stroked Hamelin's fur gently, the repetitive motion soothing to his frazzled nerves and spiraling mind. Erdős squeaked again and squirmed his way under Hartley's hand, demanding attention as well.
Hartley's tears slowed, his breaths shaky but steadier now. He needed to pull himself together, for Hamelin and Erdős if nothing else. The thought of packing up and leaving Central City crossed his mind, of starting fresh somewhere far away from all the pain and betrayal, but he quickly dismissed it. Running away wouldn't solve anything, wouldn't make the hurt go away. Besides, Central City had been his home all his life. He couldn't - wouldn't - let Harrison fucking Wells drive him out of his own city.
With a deep breath, Hartley pushed himself up from the table and wiped his eyes once more, determined to regain some semblance of composure. His mind raced this time with possibilities; with plans for revenge, for redemption, for finding a new path forward. He wouldn't let Harrison win.
With renewed determination, Hartley set about cleaning up the kitchen, tidying his apartment, and making sure Hamelin and Erdős had everything they needed. As the evening wore on and the sun dipped below the horizon, casting long shadows across the living room, Hartley found himself drifting towards his makeshift workbench in the corner. His fingers itched to tinker, to build, to create something new. To build something he could use. He put Hamelin and Erdős back in their cage and sat at the desk to begin sketching, fueled by his newfound loathing of the man he'd given everything to.

Born To Run
Chapter 2
Warnings: mentions of blood
Chapter 1: link
"Ugh..." Berrie groaned as she climbed out of the dumpster, the rough edges scraping against her skin, and brushed herself off. She stumbled towards the mouth of the alleyway, trying to orient herself and find out where she was. Hopefully she wasn't far from home, it would suck to have to call her dad from halfway round the world.
Berrie blinked, brow furrowing as she took in her surroundings. She felt dizzy and nauseous but she was pretty sure she was still cognizant enough to recognize that the cars on the street were definitely foreign - rounded and chunky in greys and whites instead of the sleek, sharp designs in bright colors she was used to. Weird, and kind of dreary, but not her most pressing concern. She needed to find a phone and food. Maybe food first.
Berrie tugged her jacket over her school uniform, hoping it didn't have any blood on it and jogged across the street to the 24-hour store, feeling worse by the second, dark spots dancing in front of her vision. She'd intended to grab a small snack and phase through the nearest wall to avoid paying but she certainly wouldn't have the energy, she was pretty sure she'd pass out and get stuck if she tried.
She pocketed a couple of power bars hoping no one saw her and wandered the aisles a bit more until the cashier was busy. She was painfully aware of how frazzled she must look; burnt shoes, windswept hair, blood on her skirt and socks, covered in god-knows-what from the dumpster, and one wrong move from passing out. As the cashier turned away to retrieve a pack of cigarettes for the person in line, Berrie seized the opportunity and slipped out the front door.
"Hey! You need to pay for that!"
Berrie bolted but she knew she wouldn't get far and mostly hoped no one was chasing her. Instead, she found herself tripping on the curb and slamming her elbow into the hood of a cop car. Well, shit.
A blond man with bright blue eyes and a decent amount of stubble stepped out of the cruiser and rushed to help Berrie, catching her other arm before she could tumble to the ground.
"That looked like it hurt. Are you okay?" He asked with a concerned frown as he steadied her.
Berrie felt her legs trembling as she tried to hold herself upright. Her mouth was suddenly very dry and her vision was almost painfully blurry.
"Y-yeah, I-"
"Officer, thank god!" Berrie's answer was interrupted immediately by the furious shop owner. "I just caught that little hellion stealing from my store! Have her turn out her pockets." He demanded.
Berrie felt a brief flare of anger and wanted to argue, it was just a couple of power bars, what were they, like 30 cents each? What the hell was his problem? But she was too drained to do anything but try not to pass out as darkness crept in on the edges of her vision and she swayed slightly.
The officer raised an eyebrow and looked down at her. Berrie just shrugged, unable to summon the energy to come up with a good lie. She made a fist in her pocket, determined not to turn her pockets out and let the officer see not only the stolen power bars but the blood still in her nailbeds as well. This was just...hell. She wanted to curl up in her bed and sleep while her dad took care of everything like he'd said he would. She should have. She definitely should have.
"Don't got all night, kid." The shop owner said gruffly, crossing his arms and glaring down at her. "Just give it back and I won't press charges."
Berrie flipped him off with her clean hand instead. What a dick. She was tired. She didn't have time for this. Her head was starting to hurt and she just wanted to go home.
The officer sighed, looking tired, and turned his attention to the shop owner, pulling out his wallet. "I'll pay for it. How much?"
"$7.50." The shop owner spat.
Seven dollars? The damn man was price gouging, he deserved to be stolen from if Berrie had anything to say about it.
The officer fished out a ten and the shop owner snatched it before making his way back to his store leaving Berrie alone with the blond man.
"Come on, I'll give you a ride home." The officer said, nudging her back gently towards the passenger side of his cruiser. "Where do you live?" He asked.
"Um..." Berrie hesitated. She definitely wasn't anywhere near her home, certainly not driving distance, but how did she explain that? "I...not around here." She said lamely. God, she needed to lie down and stop talking, she wasn't helping anything. The officer motioned her towards the car again and Berrie couldn't really seem to string enough words together in a coherent sentence to refuse. Before he'd gotten the chance to ask where she lived again, darkness enveloped her, and she slumped unconscious in the passenger seat.

Eddie POV
~~~~~
"Best guess is she's a runaway teen. Who knows how long she's been out there," Eddie said, putting his hands on his hips as he spoke.
"Long enough." Joe commented, watching through the glass as a female officer offered the girl a box of juice and a sliced apple with peanut butter. "She tell you anything that might help us find her parents?"
Eddie shook his head, a small frown on his face. "She didn't say much before she fainted. Doesn't look like she's in a talking mood now either." He added, glancing at the female officer who looked mildly frustrated as the girl nibbled on one of the stolen power bars and slumped in her chair, not making eye contact.
The female officer left the room and Eddie and Joe both turned to her.
"Anything?" Joe asked and she huffed.
"Thawne. She told me her last name is Thawne. I guess she took a shine to your name." She said, shooting a withering look at Eddie. "She also wrote down a fake phone number for her dad - History Museum. In Canada. She thinks she's real funny."
Eddie sighed. He'd been a little worried this might be the case, but a part of him had hoped that she'd give them at least a shred of info to go on. "Alright. Well, I'll go see if anyone with her description has been reported missing in the area recently."
Joe nodded. "I'll see if I can get her to tell me why she ran away."
The female officer snorted. "Good luck."
"I raised Barry and Iris, I've had plenty of experience handling difficult kids and teen angst." Joe said with a wry grin before clapping Eddie on the shoulder and heading into the room.
Eddie made his way to his desk and turned on his computer, ready for hours of digging.
Born to Run
Chapter 1
Warnings: blood, internal organs not inside the body, implied SA of a minor
OC info: link
Chapter 2: link
Blood doesn't sparkle in the setting sun the way water does - it shines, wet and dark, and stains everything it touches leaving behind red-orange blotches that never seem to quite go away even after a deep clean.
"I...oh-oh my god-" Berrie couldn't breathe. The blood felt scalding as it ran down her trembling forearm, soaking into her rolled up sleeve at the elbow. God, there was so much blood. "W-why did I...I..."
Berrie dropped the heart suddenly as though it had burned her and it landed with a sickening squelch on the linoleum as the blind range shifted into horror at what she'd done.
"No. Nonononono- what did I-I didn't mean to- oh god-" Berrie stepped backwards, her pristine white sneakers nearly slipping in the rapidly forming pool of blood. The metallic scent was overwhelming, making her stomach churn and she covered her nose and mouth with her clean hand.
She'd killed him. She'd killed her chemistry teacher, Mr. Abbott, the one who always made corny science jokes, the one who everyone liked. The one who had tried to assault Shun when he was alone in his classroom for detention after school. So...so then it was fine, right? Berrie had just been protecting Shun.
But even as she tried to rationalize it, her mind was racing. She'd never meant to do this. She didn't know how it happened. She just remembered feeling a sudden moment of blinding rage and then...then the heart was in her hand. And Mr. Abbott was on the floor. Dead.
A locker clanged outside the classroom and Berrie jumped before taking off in a flash of orange. She needed to get home. She needed to...to...she wasn't sure. Her dad would know what to do. He always did. She skidded to a stop in the hallway of her home, near hyperventilating.
"Berrie? You're home late-" Eobard entered the hall as well and paused, taking in his daughter's appearance before crossing to her and taking her arm, gently leading her to the kitchen. "Why are you covered in blood? Are you hurt?"
"No, I...it's not-not mine. I..." Berrie struggled to put her thoughts into words as she processed what had just happened.
"Did anyone see you?" He asked, still inexplicably calm as he wiped her arm clean. How was he so calm? He should be freaking out. He should be angry or-or worried or something right?
Berrie shook her head, feeling like she might be sick.
"Good. I'll clean things up and then we'll deal with the rest." Eobard said before dropping the rag in the sink and running off in a flash of red lightning.
Berrie stared at the blood-soaked rag in the sink without really seeing it, her mind racing. She couldn't seem to contain her panic, it felt like it was suffocating her, desperate to be released; she couldn't stay here, she needed to go somewhere, do something. She needed to leave. She needed to run. So, Berrie ran.
She gathered all of her speed, pushing herself faster and faster until the world around her started to morph. Colors blurred together, buildings shifted and changed, street sounds mingled in her ears. She ran faster than she ever had before, orange lightning flashing around her, pushing past all the limits she had until suddenly in a flash of light she was careening into a dumpster as her speed cut out without warning.
factum fieri infectum non potest
Tumblr media
Warnings: none
"You never loved me."
Hartley's voice was quieter than it had been but no less harsh as he glared at the older man through the glass. He knew it was well after hours - that was the only time Harrison bothered to come speak to him, when he could shut off the security cameras and talk openly without worrying about his team hearing their conversations. So Hartley didn't feel it necessary to hide his emotions either. The man had seen him naked, after all, it was hard to get more vulnerable.
"No. I didn't."
Hartley had expected some more bullshit lies about how he had loved Hartley, would always love Hartley, or something similar. The blunt statement hit him like a physical punch and he looked away, fighting the lump that formed in his throat. He'd cried enough over this man, he definitely didn't want to cry in front of him. He let out a forced, miserable, pained laugh.
"So, what, I was just...just stress relief? An easy fuck?"
"Yes."
Hartley felt like the air had been sucked out of his lungs. He couldn't breathe, couldn't speak. God, it hurt. The rejection, the cruel dismissal, it hurt so damn much. He knew it was true, but he'd still thought…he'd thought maybe there had been something real between them. That Harrison cared about him, even just a little. But of course that was too much to ask for, far too much to hope for.
"Hartley." God, that condescending tone was grating. "Does that really upset you? You knew it wasn't anything more. I cared about you, as one of my best employees. You were my guy. Not my partner."
"Who's your 'guy' now? Ramon?" Hartley spat, trying to override the overwhelming grief with venom and anger. It didn't quite work, his voice shook and his hands were trembling, but at least the tears stayed back.
Harrison removed his glasses, completely unbothered. "I'm not sure what you want me to say. I got what I needed and now we're done."
Another knife straight to the heart, Hartley wasn't sure how much more he could take. But he managed to not crumble right then and there, breathing through the pain.
"Does your pet Flash know this side of you?" Hartley sneered, his tone bitter. "How long until he figures out who you really are now that he knows I warned you about the accelerator?"
Harrison's face hardened a bit, the first sign of real emotion he'd seen from the man...maybe ever. But the flicker of emotion was gone as quickly as it had come.
"Nemo mortalium omnibus horis sapit. I made a horrible mistake but Barry will see that it was just that - a mistake."
Hartley tsked. "Factum fieri infectum non potest."
"Indeed." Harrison replied, turning away from him. "Goodnight, Hartley."
The moment the door to the pipeline closed, Hartley fell back against the wall of his cell and slumped to the ground, feeling broken and empty as he choked on a sob. Harrison Wells had taken everything from him - his future, his career, his heart - and for what? Nothing. Harrison had given him nothing. He was nothing to Harrison.
-----
translation:
Nemo mortalium omnibus horis sapit. No man is wise at all times.
Factum fieri infectum non potest. It is impossible for a deed to be undone.
Love Bites (Vampire!Sherloque Wells X Reader)
A/N: Buckle up because this is a long one! I've re-read and re-written this so many times, I really hope it's okay lol. I never know what to put in terms of warnings, but as the title suggests, there is vampire biting and (probably medically inaccurate) blood loss in this fic. Also, sorry if the French is bad, I used several online translators but I can never be sure how accurate they are.
Word Count: 5255
Tagging: @ageless-aislynn @khayrrilrainxwells @mcbenson25 @yetanotherwells (Feel free to message me if you want to be tagged in anything!)
~
There was a metahuman running rampant throughout STAR Labs. You weren’t sure how they got in, what their powers were, or what they wanted, but you knew they were very angry and were determined to let everyone know about it. The moment the security alarm went off, the poor few of you who were still around at five in the morning had scattered, hoping it would be harder for the meta to track you all down. Being the only one around with powers, Cisco took it upon himself to hunt the hunter. You had all tried Barry’s phone but there was no response.
Sherloque ran off before you did, and before your survival instincts had the chance to kick in, you decided to go on a secret hunt on your own. You had suspected something was off with him almost immediately. Sure, the reason why he attracted your attention in the first place may have been the way he looked at you when he first arrived, but no amount of winks and little smiles could hide all the weird things you noticed. He refused to leave the building until after the sun had set, kept far away from windows and mirrors, and acted so, so strangely whenever someone was bleeding. You tried to ignore it at first, but it was all too coincidental for it not to mean anything. After months of research and spying, you came to one conclusion:
Sherloque Wells was a vampire.
Okay. Vampire was a strong accusation. It was why you hadn’t told anyone yet. Why you were stalking him through corridors whilst a criminal was threatening everyone's lives. You just couldn't help yourself. Too many vampire novels, Joe would say, but after years of facing metahuman after metahuman, you longed to get your hands on something supernatural. And it was just an added bonus that the supernatural thing you had found was a Harrison Wells doppelganger. It was as if the universe had gift-wrapped him for you – that is, if he turned out to be a friendly vampire of course. You hadn’t decided on what you were going to do if he was secretly evil. Probably scream, get bit, and then die, unfortunately. Although, the getting bit part didn’t sound all that bad – not if it was anything like the novels you had read, anyway.
Sherloque turned the corner into the lounge and you paused at the doorway to eavesdrop. A few footsteps here. A few footsteps there. A few… Nothing. You held your breath and edged as close to the doorway as you could without being seen, but it was like no one was in the room at all. Just pure, eerie silence. Peeking your head around the entrance, you took a brief glance around; the room was large and open, there were no hiding places, and there was no Sherloque Wells.
Against every cell in your body shouting at you that it was a bad idea, you took a deep breath in and crept into the lounge. Your footsteps filled the room with a solitary echo. The city night lights spilt through the giant windows, pulling you out of the dark and towards the soft glow. Drawn towards the window, with the skyline catching your eye, you could feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Something– Someone was watching you.
You span around. Darting your eyes all over the room trying to follow the shadows that flitted in your peripheral. There was movement. A lot of it. You could feel it in the air. But god forbid, you couldn’t see a single thing. You started to shuffle backwards and attempted to control your breathing but it was a fight against your lungs that you were already losing.
Your back hit something cold and solid, and it was not the window. Fingers grasped your arm and jerked you around.
“Hello chérie."
Yanking your arm away, you stepped out of reach and narrowed your eyes at the man in front of you.
“Sherloque.”
“It’s not very sensible to follow me when there’s a criminal on the prowl.”
Slowly, the detective began to circle you, like an animal stalking its prey. There was a look in his eyes that sent a chill down your back.
“Then again,” he continued, “something tells me it's not the criminal that has your attention, is it? No. You’ve had your eye on me ever since I arrived, studying me just as I study the case of Cicada. I’m afraid your interest has not gone unnoticed.”
The detective stopped right in front of you and leaned in, you could smell the bergamot on his breath.
“So, my curious little cat, what conclusions have you drawn from watching me?”
You wanted to take a step back. Or at least, you should’ve wanted to take a step back. The thought had definitely crossed your mind. However, the moment his icy blue eyes captured yours, you were fixated. You couldn’t even want to think about running away no matter how hard you tried.
God. Okay. You never intended this to be a big confrontation, but it was happening whether you liked it or not. Right here. Right now. Ignoring the croak in your voice, you mustered up as much confidence as you could and said what needed to be said.
“I think you’re a vampire.”
The phrase made Sherloque’s lips involuntarily widen into an indulgent smile.
“You think?” he teased.
“I know.”
He paused before replying, letting himself appreciate your firm tine. “And do tell, what exactly makes you so sure?”
Words fell out of your mouth, toppling over each other in a big, bumbling mess. Amongst the babbling you managed to get out some kind of accusation.
“Y-you don’t– You don’t have a reflection.”
“And?”
And? And… Shit. The more you tried to think, the harder it was to conjure up any of your memories. It was like that damned smirk of his was chasing away all the evidence you had collected over the months, and not in the usual flirtatious kind of way. He huffed, amused at the panic that had settled on your face – he was enjoying this too much. You weren’t sure what kind of mind games he was trying to play with you, but you weren’t going to stand for it.
“Stop it!”
His eyes glimmered.
“Stop what?”
“That stupid thing you’re doing with your eyes. You’re hypnotising me or something with your vampire powers. I know it.”
Sherloque innocently placed his hand on his chest. “Moi? Never.”
“Sherloque,” you warned.
The detective took a step back and the fog in your brain had been lifted. You could finally think clearly again, enough to see the two sharp fangs pointing out of Sherloque’s wide grin. Finally, you thought. Finally, something supernatural – and you figured it out without anyone else's help.
Sherloque leaned back against the window, folding his arms and softening his gaze. “You know,” he started, “I knew this was going to happen.”
You rolled your eyes. “No you didn’t.”
“I hoped this was going to happen. As I said, I've noticed your interest and it is… mutual.”
“Mutual? In what way?”
He shrugged. “You have a sharp eye for details, a master detective appreciates such a thing.”
“Uhuh, is that all?”
“Tu as un beau sourire que je ne peux pas quitter des yeux.”
“You know I don’t understand French.” You crossed your arms, hoping he wasn’t mumbling an insult.
Sherloque hesitated; a myriad of confessions lingered on the tip of his tongue. You were brave enough to confront him, but he wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to confront his own feelings, after all, he didn’t exactly have the best history with falling in love. Five Renee Adlers. All women who he once loved. All women who hated the shit out of him. He couldn’t stand the thought of you hating him like that.
A loud bang echoed down the corridor followed by heavy footsteps and shouting – one of the voices being recognisably Cisco. The footsteps soon stopped, but you both knew neither of you were safe standing in the middle of a big open area.
Your attention darted to the corridor, back to Sherloque, and then over his shoulder. The twinkling lights of the night skyline had diminished and the horizon was growing lighter and lighter by the second. He didn’t have to question you, the look on your face combined with the prickling feeling on the back of his neck told Sherloque everything he needed to know. You shifted your weight from one foot to the other.
“What do we do now?” you asked, watching the detective stiffen his back.
“What do you want to do?”
“For starters, I would like to leave this room alive.”
Sherloque scoffed. “Is that what you think of me? A murderer?”
“No! But–” you took a step forwards “–vampires need to drink blood right?”
“Oui, the longer you go without it the weaker you become, but a vampire can go many years without consuming blood before dying. And I can assure you, a well-experienced vampire can acquire more than enough blood without killing.”
Sherloque’s eyes were on yours, but you were positive that all his attention had moved to your neck. If he wanted to kill you he would have done it by now, but that didn’t mean you were completely safe. The others didn’t know about Sherloque’s secret for a reason, and now that you knew, you were a threat to that reason, and something had to be done about it.
The top of the sun began to peak over the horizon and Sherloque dropped the smug, in control act that he was playing. Quickly, he took your hand and took a step towards the door, hoping you would follow. You held his hand tightly and didn’t move an inch.
“Ma chérie, I cannot stay here,” he said desperately.
He could have yanked his hand away and left. He could have pulled you off your feet and dragged you out of the room if he really wanted to. But no. He wanted you to come with him, and he wanted you to come willingly.
“I will not harm you, I promise.”
There was no glimmer in his eyes. No tricks being played. You glanced at the sun rising and a part of you wondered if Sherloque would let the sun burn hum just so he could stay with you a little longer. Your stomach grew uneasy at the thought of watching that happen. Turning back to the detective, you nodded and let him lead you out of the room, away from the harsh rays of light spilling through the windows.
~
Trying to avoid running into the metahuman problem, you avoided loud noises coming from the lifts and found yourselves in one of STAR Lab’s many abandoned, windowless storage rooms. The lights had yet to be changed into LEDs like the rest of the building, but to your surprise they had no trouble turning on when you flicked the switch and filled the room with a gentle, orange glow. There wasn’t any furnishing, nowhere to sit down, nothing to hide behind. It was a long, empty, concrete box with Sherloque standing at one end, and you at the other.
“I know vampires are supposed to be pale,” you said, “but now that we’re in proper light, you look really pale.”
"Oui. It has been a few months since I last fed." You could feel his eyes on your neck again. "It has been taxing."
“Then why haven’t you found a uh– meal?”
“I may not be human, but I would like to consider myself not a monster.”
“You haven’t found anyone willing.” You bit your lip and averted your gaze. A terrible idea wormed its way into your head. A terrible, stupid idea. The kind that you would read about in your beloved vampire novels.
“Non, not on this earth.” Keeping his eyes on you, Sherloque made his way to the middle of the room. “Not yet, anyway.”
You took a small step towards him. “I suppose you’d be quicker at catching Cicada if you were at full strength, right?”
The detective smiled softly at you. He didn’t need any vampire powers to know what you were thinking. “Ma chérie, if I took enough blood to be at my full strength, you would be very ill for a long time.”
Feeling like a silly teen trying to charm your way into trouble, you took a few more steps closer, just out of arm's reach, and flicked your eyes back up at him. “Then I’ll be in need of someone to take care of me.”
Sherloque hummed as he considered your offering. Oh yes. He could definitely take good care of you. And it would certainly give him more time to think up a charming way of telling you how he truly felt about you.
“Very well, mon amour. I promise I shall take care of you, afterwards,” he said as his eyes darkened with hunger. “If you are sure?”
“I’m sure.”
It all happened so quickly. Before you knew it, Sherloque had closed the gap between the two of you, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you so close against his chest that you swore, even if he didn’t have enhanced senses, he could hear how fast your heart was beating. He cupped your cheek gently and tilted your head to the side, eyeing up your warm veins. Leaning in, his chilled lips pressed against your hot neck, sucking the spot he had decided on. He lingered, letting his teeth graze the tender bruise he made.
You shuddered feeling his hot breath, and for a split second, you felt those survival instincts of yours telling you to run. Momentarily, you closed your eyes and buried those feelings, trying to focus on Sherloque instead. His nose brushing against your skin. His arms squeezing around your side. His hand on your jaw with his thumb stroking your cheek. Knowing that there was no turning back now made your insides fizz with anxious excitement.
He pulled back just enough to look at you, as if to ask for your permission one last time. You could feel your heart thumping in your head, so loud that if you opened your mouth, you were sure it would be the only sound that would come out. Clenching your jaw to keep yourself composed, you gave Sherloque a reassuring smile. Yes. You have my permission. He smiled back and his eyes glimmered. Just like it happened in the lounge, a foggy haze blanketed your mind, making everything feel like a dream. You didn’t think getting your blood drunk would be painful enough to warrant hypnosis, but you weren’t going to complain about a little bit of supernatural painkiller.
Even under Sherloque’s spell, you could tell that something changed in his eyes. The soft, cold look was overcome with lust, and his lips spread open, revealing those two inhumanly sharp fangs of his. Once more, the vampire leaned into your neck.
You gasped as his teeth pierced your skin with a painless, but sharp pressure. Despite the hypnosis, there was still a small part of your brain that was alert and trying to send you signals that something dangerous was happening. No matter how much you tried, you couldn’t stop from instinctively flinching away, but Sherloque pulled you back, holding you so tightly that you could barely wiggle. Once you were secure in his grip, he continued.
The fangs pulled away, but the lips stayed put. Sherloque licked the blood from your neck, and as soon as it reached the back of his throat, the months of thirst he endured hit him all at once. Suddenly he couldn’t help himself. You were too good. The licking turned into desperate sucking which caused the two of you to stumble. With your back hitting the nearest wall, you let out a whimper and grabbed a fist full of Sherloque’s wavy hair to steady yourself. Usually, the detective was very particular about how his hair looked, but right now he was far too drunk on your blood to care.
You weren’t sure how long it had lasted, but finally, Sherloque pulled away. The moment his arms left you, your legs buckled. Your vision was unfocused and Sherloque was a blur, moving quickly to catch you and softly sit you on the floor. His arms felt much stronger than what you remembered. Kneeling in front of you, he pulled off his scarf and wrapped it around your neck, tying it just enough to stop the bleeding – he’d see to it medically when you were properly safe. Seeing your glazed eyes trying to focus on him, Sherloque cupped your face with both his hands and gently guided your attention towards him. You wanted to rub your eyes, but your arms felt impossibly heavy to lift, so you settled on blinking until your vision cleared up and you could actually look at the man in front of you. His pupils were dilated, his once-pale skin was flushed with lively colour, and his lips were wet and red, stained with blood that smeared down his chin.
“Hmm, you… You look…” you mumbling trailed off.
"Just relax chérie, you won't be able to function normally for a few weeks. Best not to force it."
A door a few corridors away slammed, followed by Cisco shouting. The noises echoed painfully in your ears as they grew closer to your hiding place.
“I can say for certain,” he stood up, whipped out a handkerchief to clean his face, and then straightened his clothes, “you’ve given me more than enough blood to deal with our intruder. Wait here. Once I return, I shall get you home and take care of you, just as I promised.”
You wanted to object to being left alone, but with a smile and a wink, Sherloque left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
A few minutes passed and the sound of the intruder stopped. You waited for Sherloque to come waltzing back to you, but all you received was silence. A few more minutes passed, and you grew restless. It shouldn’t be taking so long. You made yourself wait a little longer, but the silence was torture. He really should be back by now. A few more minutes and… No. No more minutes. No more waiting. Sure, you were too weak to walk, but you weren’t a damsel in distress, you weren’t going to just sit still in an empty storage room all by yourself. Using the wall, you pushed yourself forwards onto your hands and knees and slowly shuffled towards the door. Your head spun as you moved, but you carried on, determined to find out what was going on.
Aside from Cisco, no one knew what the power the metahuman has, so for all you knew, Sherloque could be in danger. Or maybe Cisco was being overpowered and he was in danger. Or maybe everyone was in danger and you were their only hope of survival. Or maybe everything was perfectly fine and you were worrying about nothing. You really hoped the latter was true because you didn’t need a detective to deduce that you weren’t going to be much help in a fight right now.
You reached the door and strained to lift your arm. Curling your fingers around the door handle, you used your weight to gracelessly heave it open, narrowly avoiding the door swinging into your face. The corridor was dark and empty. No Cisco. No handsome detective. Struggling for breaths, you managed to lean yourself against the doorframe, thrilled at your small accomplishment. You let out a huff, eyes growing tired of staying open. Wherever your dashing vampire was, he better come back for you soon, and he better not be injured.
The hypnotising thing Sherloque did had started to wear off, making you hyper aware of your arms and knees aching, and your neck stinging like hell. Vampire romance novels never mentioned how much being bitten would feel like… well, like being bitten. Something told you that there was a lot about vampires that vampire romance novels don’t mention. For example, it really sucked to wait for what felt like a million stupid years for one of them to come back for you.
A loud look over here kind of cough snapped you out of your miserable thought spiral.
Your head shot up, the movement causing your stomach to swirl and turn, but you were too overwhelmed and excited to care. Finally! Sherloque walked over to you and crouched by your feet. He was a lot less easy to focus on now, but still just as nice to look at.
“Hello trouble. I found Cisco and we put the metahuman in the pipeline. He is dealing with the mess that was made, and I have come to finally take you home–” Sherloque looked at you, then at the open door, then back at you with an amused smile. “Je suis désolé. Was the wait too long for you to handle?”
You opened your mouth, but the back of your throat was too dry to make a quip. Oh. That’s right. The grand trials and tribulations of trying to speak. You swallowed and spoke with as much determination as you could muster.
“You,” you started, your voice hoarse and sore, “were gone–”
“Oui. But I returned, just as I promised.”
“Gone f-for hours!”
Sherloque knitted his eyebrows and frowned, looking down at his pocket watch. He turned it to face you.
“No. I was gone for approximately twelve minutes.”
Suddenly, the detective’s hands were all over you. Face. Shoulders. Neck. Sherloque wasn’t a doctor, but you sat as still as you could and let the man carry out his examination. He promised to take care of whatever state he had left you in, but a part of you was still hoping that your state would be more breakfast in bed and less hospital gown. You attempted to take a slow deep breath, trying to make yourself as calm as the face you were looking at seemed to be, but what you ended you with was shaky and abrupt.
Sherloque stopped and sweetly held you by the shoulders – you could feel the new warmth of his hands through your clothes.
“You’ll be just fine.” His voice was soft and soothing. “I’ll get you home, make you something to eat to get some strength back into you, maybe make some tea to help you sleep– Hey. Hello? Chérie, look at me.”
You didn’t even notice it at first, but everytime you closed your eyes, it was getting increasingly difficult to open them again. With all your aches and pains, you were beyond exhausted. It would be so easy to close your eyes and drift off–
“I need you to stay awake for me,” Sherloque spoke in a slightly raised tone to keep your attention on him. “You can sleep as soon as I get you in bed. But until then, I need you to keep your eyes open. Okay?”
You mumbled that you’d try your best, and then the next few moments were a complete blur.
~
Sherloque had gotten you home… somehow. The details didn’t bother you, you were just happy to finally be home. Sherloque didn’t spare any time to start living up to that promise he made. He attentively tended to your wound, helped you change into pyjamas, and ushered you to bed. It wasn’t until after you had devoured his homemade soup did you lie down to sleep.
You tossed. You turned. You were exhausted beyond all means, but no amount of closing your eyes and hiding under the covers was helping you to fall asleep. Tor-ture. Grumbling, you rubbed your eyes and sat up. It wasn’t that long ago that you were struggling to stay awake. Penance from the universe for finding pleasure in aiding a vampire perhaps? No. He may have been smug, but Sherloque was a good vampire – Your vampire.
“Everything alright?”
Speak of the devil. You looked up at the detective leaning against your doorway and pouted.
“Can’t sleep.”
“No?”
“I know it’s the middle of the day, but my room is more than dark enough with my curtains closed. It’s like I'm too tired to be tired,” You said. “How does that make sense?”
“I bit you. There must still be adrenaline in your body.” Sherloque strolled over to sit by the side of your bed. “Your brain is still in fight or flight mode, bien-aimée, you need to relax.”
“Bien-ahh, uh–”
“Bien-aimée.”
“Bien-aimée,” you slowly repeated . “That’s a new one. What does it mean?”
Beloved.
Sherloque turned his head to look out the window and hummed.
“Maybe I will teach you some French when you get better.” He quickly kicked off his shoes and turned back to you. “But for now, you need to relax and you need to sleep.”
The detective swiftly slid under the covers. You opened and closed your mouth, deciding not to protest, and instead shuffled to make enough room for Sherloque to sit comfortably next to you. For once, you were glad for your small double bed; the lack of space pulling the two of you together, making Sherloque putting his arm around you feel like a natural advancement – the kind you had been trying to hype yourself up to make ever since you got home.
Somehow, asking a vampire to bite you was less nerve wracking than trying to cuddle up and relax with one. At least when you were running around STAR Labs you had adrenaline and the imposing threat of being hunted by a metahuman to motivate you. Now that the waters had settled, there was nothing to mask the fact that you had just ran head first into some kind of relationship with a detective vampire from another earth who you were half assuming was going to kill you when he found out you were investigating him.
You leaned into Sherloques side, rested your head against his shoulder. Perhaps it was better not to think too hard about these things. It wasn’t exactly like you were looking to get married the next day, just some good company and some well needed sleep. Feeling Sherloque relax under you, you closed your eyes tight, focusing on his thumb softly rubbing against your arm. The tiredness was really catching up to you now. With the cool, calm darkness granted to you via your black out curtains, and the warm embrace of your duvet wrapped around you and Sherloque, falling asleep no longer felt impossible.
“Relax and sleep,” you mumbled, “I think I can do that.”
Sherloque rested his head on top of yours, listening to the slow rhythm of your breathing. Why on earth he decided to get in bed with you was beyond him. He was so desperate to change the subject that he didn’t give himself time to think about what he was doing. Idiot. Whatever happened to avoiding another Renee Adler situation? They had all moved on but the memories of them – or more so, the memories of the mistakes he made with them – stuck to him like chewing gum in hair.
With a deep sigh, Sherloque closed his eyes. You weren’t her. You weren’t any version of her. But that didn’t stop him from assuming he’d screw things up with you like he had done over and over again with Renee. There was a chance that she and him just weren’t meant to be, but there was another, greater chance that any relationship with Sherloque just wasn’t meant to be – the latter scared him more than direct sunlight ever could. He hoped to God that you were feeling relaxed because inside his head was far from it.
~
To save your sleep schedule from becoming vamperic, you had planned to sleep until the sun had risen again, but it was quarter to midnight when you woke up. You almost weren't sure that you had woken up as you had to pry your eyelids open from deep sleep only to be met with darkness. Sherloque was lying flat on his back and you were still by his side, head still on his shoulder, limbs half sprawled out over him. All your joints ached and the pressure in your head persisted – perhaps it was a good thing that you woke up in the dark because oversleeping left you just as groggy as you felt when you got home.
“Beloved.”
You flinched. It made sense that the vampire next to you was awake during the night, but he was so still and you were so sleepy from waking up that it never got close to crossing your mind. You angled your head to look up at the outline of Sherloques Jaw.
“Huh?”
“Bien-aimée,” Sherloque said gently, staring at the ceiling. “It means beloved.”
The words tingled as you repeated them in your head. Beloved. Beloved. Beloved.
“Sherloque,” you breathed, “have you been calling me pet names this whole time?”
“Perhaps.”
It didn’t take vampire night vision to see the guilty, smug smile on his face; you bit your lower lip to hide a similar, bashful smile from appearing on your own. Sure. He noticed you noticing him. He took a liking to you. He flirted, bit, and then slept beside you. But it never occurred to you that he had been pining for you far longer than you had been for him. Not trusting the dark to conceal your flustered expression, you turned and smushed your face into Sherloques chest.
“Bien-aimée,” he said gleefully, squeezing his arms around you, “my fondness for you is not new information.”
Despite the tiredness and Sherloques chest muffling your voice, your laugh was undeniably embarrassed. “This. Whole. Time. Sherloque. Why didn’t you say anything?”
The pressure of Sherloques arms slightly loosened, and you were once again thankful for the dark hiding both your face from him and his face from you. Whatever he was thinking of, it wasn’t good, that you were certain of.
Renee. He had to get over it. You weren’t another repeated, doomed relationship. You were new. You were brilliant. And right now you were his and he couldn’t give that up, not for people who lived on different earths and didn’t even understand him properly.
Your heart was beating fast, and Sherloque couldn’t stand feeling his silence weigh you down any longer.
“A relationship with a vampire isn’t an easy one,” he finally said.
“No relationship is.”
“But especially with me.”
Taking your time as to not worsen your headache, you propped yourself up on your elbows so Sherloque could see your face.
“I’m not one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s supernatural, investigative–” you looked at the uncertainty in Sherloque’s bright, blue eyes “–or emotional. I’m strong enough to work through anything, and I’m sure you are too.”
Your eyes had bags but they were full of so much more life than they were when he first brought you home. If he wanted you to carry on looking at him like that, he’d have to move on. He would move on.
“My dear, if you believe I am strong enough–” Sherloque smiled at you softly “–then I am strong enough.”
“Good.”
You smiled brightly and leaned forwards, capturing his soft, warm lips with a kiss.
The Wellses’s Valentines headcanon
All Wellses x F!reader
Warning: very slight gore, like tiny once mention
A/N: i quickly put this together today… I want to thank @jackiequick for turning the gears in my brain allowing the creative flow to happen.
Tumblr media
Eowells: When Eobard puts on his ‘Harrison Wells’ face, he would have a nice bouquet of flowers and a box of candy waiting for you in the kitchen when you first wake up in the morning. When you go get ready for work that day, you noticed a new dress, in your size. Harrison tells you that he booked a fancy dinner for the two of you later that night. During the dinner he heads you a small red, velvet box. When you open it, inside is a diamond necklace.
Now the true Eobard Thawne on the other hand, he would hand you a red heart candy box. When you open it, there wasn’t candy in it. Instead it’s a human heart. Eobard smile saying it’s the heart of your enemy. You were both disgusted, but very touch by his action.
Harry: if you are with Harry on his earth, he would be a lot like EoWells. Flowers, candy, a fancy new dress. A beautiful dinner on a balcony with live music softly playing in the background. Harry takes this opportunity to propose to you.
On Earth-1, that’s a whole other story. For the longest time he tells the team how stupid the holiday was. Being ‘big corporate’ planning to get your money. You asked him if he truly feel that way about the day and he said yes. It took Cisco to convince Harry to do something for you. At first he was against it, but he thought it would be good idea since you put up with his crap all the time. He quickly rushes around, coming up with a plan. A simple picnic in the gardens of Star Labs with Big Belly Burger. He gifts you flowers and a teddy plushie.
HR: the moment he learned about Valentine’s Day, he started to plan for it. He gathered everything he would need for it. The night before he stayed up all night decorating the Speed Lab for the big day. When you walked in, the place was amazing. He had one side with all of you favorite foods and snack, near the ramp he had a big screen with a projector on the opposite side of the room. In from of the screen was two giant bean bag chairs for your viewing pleasure. Then there was a table filled with presents, balloons and flowers.
Sherloque: now, he is a hopeless romantic, but he also wasn’t that big on doing romantic things. When you walk into Star Labs, you walked into the lounge room, dimly lit but candles scattered all over the room. Flower petals scattered along the flower and standing in the middle of the room was Sherloque waiting for you. When you walked up to him, he hands you a single rose, kissing your cheek. He holds his arm out to you, to which you accepted. He guides you to the balcony finding a dinner that the detective made himself.
Nash: Much like Harry, Nash loathes the day, claiming to be pointless. He spent most of the day avoiding you, feeling slightly guilty for not doing anything for you. It was late into the night, you were in the cortex, on watch duty. You heard footsteps coming up from behind you and then a crumple brown paper bag landing in front of you. Startled, you looked up to see Nash walking away from you as he mumbled something you didn’t quite get. You carefully open the bag, and you pull out bracelet. You smile at the gift, and as you were going to thank him when something dawned on you, “did you steal this?!” “What no! Why would I-” the look on your face stopped him and said “yes.” You sighed.
Harrison: his too busy simping over his wife to notice you. Sorry. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Ahh, thank you so much!!
Love Bites (Vampire!Sherloque Wells X Reader)
A/N: Buckle up because this is a long one! I've re-read and re-written this so many times, I really hope it's okay lol. I never know what to put in terms of warnings, but as the title suggests, there is vampire biting and (probably medically inaccurate) blood loss in this fic. Also, sorry if the French is bad, I used several online translators but I can never be sure how accurate they are.
Word Count: 5255
~
There was a metahuman running rampant throughout STAR Labs. You weren’t sure how they got in, what their powers were, or what they wanted, but you knew they were very angry and were determined to let everyone know about it. The moment the security alarm went off, the poor few of you who were still around at five in the morning had scattered, hoping it would be harder for the meta to track you all down. Being the only one around with powers, Cisco took it upon himself to hunt the hunter. You had all tried Barry’s phone but there was no response.
Sherloque ran off before you did, and before your survival instincts had the chance to kick in, you decided to go on a secret hunt on your own. You had suspected something was off with him almost immediately. Sure, the reason why he attracted your attention in the first place may have been the way he looked at you when he first arrived, but no amount of winks and little smiles could hide all the weird things you noticed. He refused to leave the building until after the sun had set, kept far away from windows and mirrors, and acted so, so strangely whenever someone was bleeding. You tried to ignore it at first, but it was all too coincidental for it not to mean anything. After months of research and spying, you came to one conclusion:
Sherloque Wells was a vampire.
Okay. Vampire was a strong accusation. It was why you hadn’t told anyone yet. Why you were stalking him through corridors whilst a criminal was threatening everyone's lives. You just couldn't help yourself. Too many vampire novels, Joe would say, but after years of facing metahuman after metahuman, you longed to get your hands on something supernatural. And it was just an added bonus that the supernatural thing you had found was a Harrison Wells doppelganger. It was as if the universe had gift-wrapped him for you – that is, if he turned out to be a friendly vampire of course. You hadn’t decided on what you were going to do if he was secretly evil. Probably scream, get bit, and then die, unfortunately. Although, the getting bit part didn’t sound all that bad – not if it was anything like the novels you had read, anyway.
Sherloque turned the corner into the lounge and you paused at the doorway to eavesdrop. A few footsteps here. A few footsteps there. A few… Nothing. You held your breath and edged as close to the doorway as you could without being seen, but it was like no one was in the room at all. Just pure, eerie silence. Peeking your head around the entrance, you took a brief glance around; the room was large and open, there were no hiding places, and there was no Sherloque Wells.
Against every cell in your body shouting at you that it was a bad idea, you took a deep breath in and crept into the lounge. Your footsteps filled the room with a solitary echo. The city night lights spilt through the giant windows, pulling you out of the dark and towards the soft glow. Drawn towards the window, with the skyline catching your eye, you could feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Something– Someone was watching you.
You span around. Darting your eyes all over the room trying to follow the shadows that flitted in your peripheral. There was movement. A lot of it. You could feel it in the air. But god forbid, you couldn’t see a single thing. You started to shuffle backwards and attempted to control your breathing but it was a fight against your lungs that you were already losing.
Your back hit something cold and solid, and it was not the window. Fingers grasped your arm and jerked you around.
“Hello chérie."
Yanking your arm away, you stepped out of reach and narrowed your eyes at the man in front of you.
“Sherloque.”
“It’s not very sensible to follow me when there’s a criminal on the prowl.”
Slowly, the detective began to circle you, like an animal stalking its prey. There was a look in his eyes that sent a chill down your back.
“Then again,” he continued, “something tells me it's not the criminal that has your attention, is it? No. You’ve had your eye on me ever since I arrived, studying me just as I study the case of Cicada. I’m afraid your interest has not gone unnoticed.”
The detective stopped right in front of you and leaned in, you could smell the bergamot on his breath.
“So, my curious little cat, what conclusions have you drawn from watching me?”
You wanted to take a step back. Or at least, you should’ve wanted to take a step back. The thought had definitely crossed your mind. However, the moment his icy blue eyes captured yours, you were fixated. You couldn’t even want to think about running away no matter how hard you tried.
God. Okay. You never intended this to be a big confrontation, but it was happening whether you liked it or not. Right here. Right now. Ignoring the croak in your voice, you mustered up as much confidence as you could and said what needed to be said.
“I think you’re a vampire.”
The phrase made Sherloque’s lips involuntarily widen into an indulgent smile.
“You think?” he teased.
“I know.”
He paused before replying, letting himself appreciate your firm tine. “And do tell, what exactly makes you so sure?”
Words fell out of your mouth, toppling over each other in a big, bumbling mess. Amongst the babbling you managed to get out some kind of accusation.
“Y-you don’t– You don’t have a reflection.”
“And?”
And? And… Shit. The more you tried to think, the harder it was to conjure up any of your memories. It was like that damned smirk of his was chasing away all the evidence you had collected over the months, and not in the usual flirtatious kind of way. He huffed, amused at the panic that had settled on your face – he was enjoying this too much. You weren’t sure what kind of mind games he was trying to play with you, but you weren’t going to stand for it.
“Stop it!”
His eyes glimmered.
“Stop what?”
“That stupid thing you’re doing with your eyes. You’re hypnotising me or something with your vampire powers. I know it.”
Sherloque innocently placed his hand on his chest. “Moi? Never.”
“Sherloque,” you warned.
The detective took a step back and the fog in your brain had been lifted. You could finally think clearly again, enough to see the two sharp fangs pointing out of Sherloque’s wide grin. Finally, you thought. Finally, something supernatural – and you figured it out without anyone else's help.
Sherloque leaned back against the window, folding his arms and softening his gaze. “You know,” he started, “I knew this was going to happen.”
You rolled your eyes. “No you didn’t.”
“I hoped this was going to happen. As I said, I've noticed your interest and it is… mutual.”
“Mutual? In what way?”
He shrugged. “You have a sharp eye for details, a master detective appreciates such a thing.”
“Uhuh, is that all?”
“Tu as un beau sourire que je ne peux pas quitter des yeux.”
“You know I don’t understand French.” You crossed your arms, hoping he wasn’t mumbling an insult.
Sherloque hesitated; a myriad of confessions lingered on the tip of his tongue. You were brave enough to confront him, but he wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to confront his own feelings, after all, he didn’t exactly have the best history with falling in love. Five Renee Adlers. All women who he once loved. All women who hated the shit out of him. He couldn’t stand the thought of you hating him like that.
A loud bang echoed down the corridor followed by heavy footsteps and shouting – one of the voices being recognisably Cisco. The footsteps soon stopped, but you both knew neither of you were safe standing in the middle of a big open area.
Your attention darted to the corridor, back to Sherloque, and then over his shoulder. The twinkling lights of the night skyline had diminished and the horizon was growing lighter and lighter by the second. He didn’t have to question you, the look on your face combined with the prickling feeling on the back of his neck told Sherloque everything he needed to know. You shifted your weight from one foot to the other.
“What do we do now?” you asked, watching the detective stiffen his back.
“What do you want to do?”
“For starters, I would like to leave this room alive.”
Sherloque scoffed. “Is that what you think of me? A murderer?”
“No! But–” you took a step forwards “–vampires need to drink blood right?”
“Oui, the longer you go without it the weaker you become, but a vampire can go many years without consuming blood before dying. And I can assure you, a well-experienced vampire can acquire more than enough blood without killing.”
Sherloque’s eyes were on yours, but you were positive that all his attention had moved to your neck. If he wanted to kill you he would have done it by now, but that didn’t mean you were completely safe. The others didn’t know about Sherloque’s secret for a reason, and now that you knew, you were a threat to that reason, and something had to be done about it.
The top of the sun began to peak over the horizon and Sherloque dropped the smug, in control act that he was playing. Quickly, he took your hand and took a step towards the door, hoping you would follow. You held his hand tightly and didn’t move an inch.
“Ma chérie, I cannot stay here,” he said desperately.
He could have yanked his hand away and left. He could have pulled you off your feet and dragged you out of the room if he really wanted to. But no. He wanted you to come with him, and he wanted you to come willingly.
“I will not harm you, I promise.”
There was no glimmer in his eyes. No tricks being played. You glanced at the sun rising and a part of you wondered if Sherloque would let the sun burn hum just so he could stay with you a little longer. Your stomach grew uneasy at the thought of watching that happen. Turning back to the detective, you nodded and let him lead you out of the room, away from the harsh rays of light spilling through the windows.
~
Trying to avoid running into the metahuman problem, you avoided loud noises coming from the lifts and found yourselves in one of STAR Lab’s many abandoned, windowless storage rooms. The lights had yet to be changed into LEDs like the rest of the building, but to your surprise they had no trouble turning on when you flicked the switch and filled the room with a gentle, orange glow. There wasn’t any furnishing, nowhere to sit down, nothing to hide behind. It was a long, empty, concrete box with Sherloque standing at one end, and you at the other.
“I know vampires are supposed to be pale,” you said, “but now that we’re in proper light, you look really pale.”
"Oui. It has been a few months since I last fed." You could feel his eyes on your neck again. "It has been taxing."
“Then why haven’t you found a uh– meal?”
“I may not be human, but I would like to consider myself not a monster.”
“You haven’t found anyone willing.” You bit your lip and averted your gaze. A terrible idea wormed its way into your head. A terrible, stupid idea. The kind that you would read about in your beloved vampire novels.
“Non, not on this earth.” Keeping his eyes on you, Sherloque made his way to the middle of the room. “Not yet, anyway.”
You took a small step towards him. “I suppose you’d be quicker at catching Cicada if you were at full strength, right?”
The detective smiled softly at you. He didn’t need any vampire powers to know what you were thinking. “Ma chérie, if I took enough blood to be at my full strength, you would be very ill for a long time.”
Feeling like a silly teen trying to charm your way into trouble, you took a few more steps closer, just out of arm's reach, and flicked your eyes back up at him. “Then I’ll be in need of someone to take care of me.”
Sherloque hummed as he considered your offering. Oh yes. He could definitely take good care of you. And it would certainly give him more time to think up a charming way of telling you how he truly felt about you.
“Very well, mon amour. I promise I shall take care of you, afterwards,” he said as his eyes darkened with hunger. “If you are sure?”
“I’m sure.”
It all happened so quickly. Before you knew it, Sherloque had closed the gap between the two of you, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you so close against his chest that you swore, even if he didn’t have enhanced senses, he could hear how fast your heart was beating. He cupped your cheek gently and tilted your head to the side, eyeing up your warm veins. Leaning in, his chilled lips pressed against your hot neck, sucking the spot he had decided on. He lingered, letting his teeth graze the tender bruise he made.
You shuddered feeling his hot breath, and for a split second, you felt those survival instincts of yours telling you to run. Momentarily, you closed your eyes and buried those feelings, trying to focus on Sherloque instead. His nose brushing against your skin. His arms squeezing around your side. His hand on your jaw with his thumb stroking your cheek. Knowing that there was no turning back now made your insides fizz with anxious excitement.
He pulled back just enough to look at you, as if to ask for your permission one last time. You could feel your heart thumping in your head, so loud that if you opened your mouth, you were sure it would be the only sound that would come out. Clenching your jaw to keep yourself composed, you gave Sherloque a reassuring smile. Yes. You have my permission. He smiled back and his eyes glimmered. Just like it happened in the lounge, a foggy haze blanketed your mind, making everything feel like a dream. You didn’t think getting your blood drunk would be painful enough to warrant hypnosis, but you weren’t going to complain about a little bit of supernatural painkiller.
Even under Sherloque’s spell, you could tell that something changed in his eyes. The soft, cold look was overcome with lust, and his lips spread open, revealing those two inhumanly sharp fangs of his. Once more, the vampire leaned into your neck.
You gasped as his teeth pierced your skin with a painless, but sharp pressure. Despite the hypnosis, there was still a small part of your brain that was alert and trying to send you signals that something dangerous was happening. No matter how much you tried, you couldn’t stop from instinctively flinching away, but Sherloque pulled you back, holding you so tightly that you could barely wiggle. Once you were secure in his grip, he continued.
The fangs pulled away, but the lips stayed put. Sherloque licked the blood from your neck, and as soon as it reached the back of his throat, the months of thirst he endured hit him all at once. Suddenly he couldn’t help himself. You were too good. The licking turned into desperate sucking which caused the two of you to stumble. With your back hitting the nearest wall, you let out a whimper and grabbed a fist full of Sherloque’s wavy hair to steady yourself. Usually, the detective was very particular about how his hair looked, but right now he was far too drunk on your blood to care.
You weren’t sure how long it had lasted, but finally, Sherloque pulled away. The moment his arms left you, your legs buckled. Your vision was unfocused and Sherloque was a blur, moving quickly to catch you and softly sit you on the floor. His arms felt much stronger than what you remembered. Kneeling in front of you, he pulled off his scarf and wrapped it around your neck, tying it just enough to stop the bleeding – he’d see to it medically when you were properly safe. Seeing your glazed eyes trying to focus on him, Sherloque cupped your face with both his hands and gently guided your attention towards him. You wanted to rub your eyes, but your arms felt impossibly heavy to lift, so you settled on blinking until your vision cleared up and you could actually look at the man in front of you. His pupils were dilated, his once-pale skin was flushed with lively colour, and his lips were wet and red, stained with blood that smeared down his chin.
“Hmm, you… You look…” you mumbling trailed off.
"Just relax chérie, you won't be able to function normally for a few weeks. Best not to force it."
A door a few corridors away slammed, followed by Cisco shouting. The noises echoed painfully in your ears as they grew closer to your hiding place.
“I can say for certain,” he stood up, whipped out a handkerchief to clean his face, and then straightened his clothes, “you’ve given me more than enough blood to deal with our intruder. Wait here. Once I return, I shall get you home and take care of you, just as I promised.”
You wanted to object to being left alone, but with a smile and a wink, Sherloque left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
A few minutes passed and the sound of the intruder stopped. You waited for Sherloque to come waltzing back to you, but all you received was silence. A few more minutes passed, and you grew restless. It shouldn’t be taking so long. You made yourself wait a little longer, but the silence was torture. He really should be back by now. A few more minutes and… No. No more minutes. No more waiting. Sure, you were too weak to walk, but you weren’t a damsel in distress, you weren’t going to just sit still in an empty storage room all by yourself. Using the wall, you pushed yourself forwards onto your hands and knees and slowly shuffled towards the door. Your head spun as you moved, but you carried on, determined to find out what was going on.
Aside from Cisco, no one knew what the power the metahuman has, so for all you knew, Sherloque could be in danger. Or maybe Cisco was being overpowered and he was in danger. Or maybe everyone was in danger and you were their only hope of survival. Or maybe everything was perfectly fine and you were worrying about nothing. You really hoped the latter was true because you didn’t need a detective to deduce that you weren’t going to be much help in a fight right now.
You reached the door and strained to lift your arm. Curling your fingers around the door handle, you used your weight to gracelessly heave it open, narrowly avoiding the door swinging into your face. The corridor was dark and empty. No Cisco. No handsome detective. Struggling for breaths, you managed to lean yourself against the doorframe, thrilled at your small accomplishment. You let out a huff, eyes growing tired of staying open. Wherever your dashing vampire was, he better come back for you soon, and he better not be injured.
The hypnotising thing Sherloque did had started to wear off, making you hyper aware of your arms and knees aching, and your neck stinging like hell. Vampire romance novels never mentioned how much being bitten would feel like… well, like being bitten. Something told you that there was a lot about vampires that vampire romance novels don’t mention. For example, it really sucked to wait for what felt like a million stupid years for one of them to come back for you.
A loud look over here kind of cough snapped you out of your miserable thought spiral.
Your head shot up, the movement causing your stomach to swirl and turn, but you were too overwhelmed and excited to care. Finally! Sherloque walked over to you and crouched by your feet. He was a lot less easy to focus on now, but still just as nice to look at.
“Hello trouble. I found Cisco and we put the metahuman in the pipeline. He is dealing with the mess that was made, and I have come to finally take you home–” Sherloque looked at you, then at the open door, then back at you with an amused smile. “Je suis désolé. Was the wait too long for you to handle?”
You opened your mouth, but the back of your throat was too dry to make a quip. Oh. That’s right. The grand trials and tribulations of trying to speak. You swallowed and spoke with as much determination as you could muster.
“You,” you started, your voice hoarse and sore, “were gone–”
“Oui. But I returned, just as I promised.”
“Gone f-for hours!”
Sherloque knitted his eyebrows and frowned, looking down at his pocket watch. He turned it to face you.
“No. I was gone for approximately twelve minutes.”
Suddenly, the detective’s hands were all over you. Face. Shoulders. Neck. Sherloque wasn’t a doctor, but you sat as still as you could and let the man carry out his examination. He promised to take care of whatever state he had left you in, but a part of you was still hoping that your state would be more breakfast in bed and less hospital gown. You attempted to take a slow deep breath, trying to make yourself as calm as the face you were looking at seemed to be, but what you ended you with was shaky and abrupt.
Sherloque stopped and sweetly held you by the shoulders – you could feel the new warmth of his hands through your clothes.
“You’ll be just fine.” His voice was soft and soothing. “I’ll get you home, make you something to eat to get some strength back into you, maybe make some tea to help you sleep– Hey. Hello? Chérie, look at me.”
You didn’t even notice it at first, but everytime you closed your eyes, it was getting increasingly difficult to open them again. With all your aches and pains, you were beyond exhausted. It would be so easy to close your eyes and drift off–
“I need you to stay awake for me,” Sherloque spoke in a slightly raised tone to keep your attention on him. “You can sleep as soon as I get you in bed. But until then, I need you to keep your eyes open. Okay?”
You mumbled that you’d try your best, and then the next few moments were a complete blur.
~
Sherloque had gotten you home… somehow. The details didn’t bother you, you were just happy to finally be home. Sherloque didn’t spare any time to start living up to that promise he made. He attentively tended to your wound, helped you change into pyjamas, and ushered you to bed. It wasn’t until after you had devoured his homemade soup did you lie down to sleep.
You tossed. You turned. You were exhausted beyond all means, but no amount of closing your eyes and hiding under the covers was helping you to fall asleep. Tor-ture. Grumbling, you rubbed your eyes and sat up. It wasn’t that long ago that you were struggling to stay awake. Penance from the universe for finding pleasure in aiding a vampire perhaps? No. He may have been smug, but Sherloque was a good vampire – Your vampire.
“Everything alright?”
Speak of the devil. You looked up at the detective leaning against your doorway and pouted.
“Can’t sleep.”
“No?”
“I know it’s the middle of the day, but my room is more than dark enough with my curtains closed. It’s like I'm too tired to be tired,” You said. “How does that make sense?”
“I bit you. There must still be adrenaline in your body.” Sherloque strolled over to sit by the side of your bed. “Your brain is still in fight or flight mode, bien-aimée, you need to relax.”
“Bien-ahh, uh–”
“Bien-aimée.”
“Bien-aimée,” you slowly repeated . “That’s a new one. What does it mean?”
Beloved.
Sherloque turned his head to look out the window and hummed.
“Maybe I will teach you some French when you get better.” He quickly kicked off his shoes and turned back to you. “But for now, you need to relax and you need to sleep.”
The detective swiftly slid under the covers. You opened and closed your mouth, deciding not to protest, and instead shuffled to make enough room for Sherloque to sit comfortably next to you. For once, you were glad for your small double bed; the lack of space pulling the two of you together, making Sherloque putting his arm around you feel like a natural advancement – the kind you had been trying to hype yourself up to make ever since you got home.
Somehow, asking a vampire to bite you was less nerve wracking than trying to cuddle up and relax with one. At least when you were running around STAR Labs you had adrenaline and the imposing threat of being hunted by a metahuman to motivate you. Now that the waters had settled, there was nothing to mask the fact that you had just ran head first into some kind of relationship with a detective vampire from another earth who you were half assuming was going to kill you when he found out you were investigating him.
You leaned into Sherloques side, rested your head against his shoulder. Perhaps it was better not to think too hard about these things. It wasn’t exactly like you were looking to get married the next day, just some good company and some well needed sleep. Feeling Sherloque relax under you, you closed your eyes tight, focusing on his thumb softly rubbing against your arm. The tiredness was really catching up to you now. With the cool, calm darkness granted to you via your black out curtains, and the warm embrace of your duvet wrapped around you and Sherloque, falling asleep no longer felt impossible.
“Relax and sleep,” you mumbled, “I think I can do that.”
Sherloque rested his head on top of yours, listening to the slow rhythm of your breathing. Why on earth he decided to get in bed with you was beyond him. He was so desperate to change the subject that he didn’t give himself time to think about what he was doing. Idiot. Whatever happened to avoiding another Renee Adler situation? They had all moved on but the memories of them – or more so, the memories of the mistakes he made with them – stuck to him like chewing gum in hair.
With a deep sigh, Sherloque closed his eyes. You weren’t her. You weren’t any version of her. But that didn’t stop him from assuming he’d screw things up with you like he had done over and over again with Renee. There was a chance that she and him just weren’t meant to be, but there was another, greater chance that any relationship with Sherloque just wasn’t meant to be – the latter scared him more than direct sunlight ever could. He hoped to God that you were feeling relaxed because inside his head was far from it.
~
To save your sleep schedule from becoming vamperic, you had planned to sleep until the sun had risen again, but it was quarter to midnight when you woke up. You almost weren't sure that you had woken up as you had to pry your eyelids open from deep sleep only to be met with darkness. Sherloque was lying flat on his back and you were still by his side, head still on his shoulder, limbs half sprawled out over him. All your joints ached and the pressure in your head persisted – perhaps it was a good thing that you woke up in the dark because oversleeping left you just as groggy as you felt when you got home.
“Beloved.”
You flinched. It made sense that the vampire next to you was awake during the night, but he was so still and you were so sleepy from waking up that it never got close to crossing your mind. You angled your head to look up at the outline of Sherloques Jaw.
“Huh?”
“Bien-aimée,” Sherloque said gently, staring at the ceiling. “It means beloved.”
The words tingled as you repeated them in your head. Beloved. Beloved. Beloved.
“Sherloque,” you breathed, “have you been calling me pet names this whole time?”
“Perhaps.”
It didn’t take vampire night vision to see the guilty, smug smile on his face; you bit your lower lip to hide a similar, bashful smile from appearing on your own. Sure. He noticed you noticing him. He took a liking to you. He flirted, bit, and then slept beside you. But it never occurred to you that he had been pining for you far longer than you had been for him. Not trusting the dark to conceal your flustered expression, you turned and smushed your face into Sherloques chest.
“Bien-aimée,” he said gleefully, squeezing his arms around you, “my fondness for you is not new information.”
Despite the tiredness and Sherloques chest muffling your voice, your laugh was undeniably embarrassed. “This. Whole. Time. Sherloque. Why didn’t you say anything?”
The pressure of Sherloques arms slightly loosened, and you were once again thankful for the dark hiding both your face from him and his face from you. Whatever he was thinking of, it wasn’t good, that you were certain of.
Renee. He had to get over it. You weren’t another repeated, doomed relationship. You were new. You were brilliant. And right now you were his and he couldn’t give that up, not for people who lived on different earths and didn’t even understand him properly.
Your heart was beating fast, and Sherloque couldn’t stand feeling his silence weigh you down any longer.
“A relationship with a vampire isn’t an easy one,” he finally said.
“No relationship is.”
“But especially with me.”
Taking your time as to not worsen your headache, you propped yourself up on your elbows so Sherloque could see your face.
“I’m not one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s supernatural, investigative–” you looked at the uncertainty in Sherloque’s bright, blue eyes “–or emotional. I’m strong enough to work through anything, and I’m sure you are too.”
Your eyes had bags but they were full of so much more life than they were when he first brought you home. If he wanted you to carry on looking at him like that, he’d have to move on. He would move on.
“My dear, if you believe I am strong enough–” Sherloque smiled at you softly “–then I am strong enough.”
“Good.”
You smiled brightly and leaned forwards, capturing his soft, warm lips with a kiss.
Love Bites (Vampire!Sherloque Wells X Reader)
A/N: Buckle up because this is a long one! I've re-read and re-written this so many times, I really hope it's okay lol. I never know what to put in terms of warnings, but as the title suggests, there is vampire biting and (probably medically inaccurate) blood loss in this fic. Also, sorry if the French is bad, I used several online translators but I can never be sure how accurate they are.
Word Count: 5255
There was a metahuman running rampant throughout STAR Labs. You weren’t sure how they got in, what their powers were, or what they wanted, but you knew they were very angry and were determined to let everyone know about it. The moment the security alarm went off, the poor few of you who were still around at five in the morning had scattered, hoping it would be harder for the meta to track you all down. Being the only one around with powers, Cisco took it upon himself to hunt the hunter. You had all tried Barry’s phone but there was no response.
Sherloque ran off before you did, and before your survival instincts had the chance to kick in, you decided to go on a secret hunt on your own. You had suspected something was off with him almost immediately. Sure, the reason why he attracted your attention in the first place may have been the way he looked at you when he first arrived, but no amount of winks and little smiles could hide all the weird things you noticed. He refused to leave the building until after the sun had set, kept far away from windows and mirrors, and acted so, so strangely whenever someone was bleeding. You tried to ignore it at first, but it was all too coincidental for it not to mean anything. After months of research and spying, you came to one conclusion:
Sherloque Wells was a vampire.
Okay. Vampire was a strong accusation. It was why you hadn’t told anyone yet. Why you were stalking him through corridors whilst a criminal was threatening everyone's lives. You just couldn't help yourself. Too many vampire novels, Joe would say, but after years of facing metahuman after metahuman, you longed to get your hands on something supernatural. And it was just an added bonus that the supernatural thing you had found was a Harrison Wells doppelganger. It was as if the universe had gift-wrapped him for you – that is, if he turned out to be a friendly vampire of course. You hadn’t decided on what you were going to do if he was secretly evil. Probably scream, get bit, and then die, unfortunately. Although, the getting bit part didn’t sound all that bad – not if it was anything like the novels you had read, anyway.
Sherloque turned the corner into the lounge and you paused at the doorway to eavesdrop. A few footsteps here. A few footsteps there. A few… Nothing. You held your breath and edged as close to the doorway as you could without being seen, but it was like no one was in the room at all. Just pure, eerie silence. Peeking your head around the entrance, you took a brief glance around; the room was large and open, there were no hiding places, and there was no Sherloque Wells.
Against every cell in your body shouting at you that it was a bad idea, you took a deep breath in and crept into the lounge. Your footsteps filled the room with a solitary echo. The city night lights spilt through the giant windows, pulling you out of the dark and towards the soft glow. Drawn towards the window, with the skyline catching your eye, you could feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. Something– Someone was watching you.
You span around. Darting your eyes all over the room trying to follow the shadows that flitted in your peripheral. There was movement. A lot of it. You could feel it in the air. But god forbid, you couldn’t see a single thing. You started to shuffle backwards and attempted to control your breathing but it was a fight against your lungs that you were already losing.
Your back hit something cold and solid, and it was not the window. Fingers grasped your arm and jerked you around.
“Hello chérie."
Yanking your arm away, you stepped out of reach and narrowed your eyes at the man in front of you.
“Sherloque.”
“It’s not very sensible to follow me when there’s a criminal on the prowl.”
Slowly, the detective began to circle you, like an animal stalking its prey. There was a look in his eyes that sent a chill down your back.
“Then again,” he continued, “something tells me it's not the criminal that has your attention, is it? No. You’ve had your eye on me ever since I arrived, studying me just as I study the case of Cicada. I’m afraid your interest has not gone unnoticed.”
The detective stopped right in front of you and leaned in, you could smell the bergamot on his breath.
“So, my curious little cat, what conclusions have you drawn from watching me?”
You wanted to take a step back. Or at least, you should’ve wanted to take a step back. The thought had definitely crossed your mind. However, the moment his icy blue eyes captured yours, you were fixated. You couldn’t even want to think about running away no matter how hard you tried.
God. Okay. You never intended this to be a big confrontation, but it was happening whether you liked it or not. Right here. Right now. Ignoring the croak in your voice, you mustered up as much confidence as you could and said what needed to be said.
“I think you’re a vampire.”
The phrase made Sherloque’s lips involuntarily widen into an indulgent smile.
“You think?” he teased.
“I know.”
He paused before replying, letting himself appreciate your firm tine. “And do tell, what exactly makes you so sure?”
Words fell out of your mouth, toppling over each other in a big, bumbling mess. Amongst the babbling you managed to get out some kind of accusation.
“Y-you don’t– You don’t have a reflection.”
“And?”
And? And… Shit. The more you tried to think, the harder it was to conjure up any of your memories. It was like that damned smirk of his was chasing away all the evidence you had collected over the months, and not in the usual flirtatious kind of way. He huffed, amused at the panic that had settled on your face – he was enjoying this too much. You weren’t sure what kind of mind games he was trying to play with you, but you weren’t going to stand for it.
“Stop it!”
His eyes glimmered.
“Stop what?”
“That stupid thing you’re doing with your eyes. You’re hypnotising me or something with your vampire powers. I know it.”
Sherloque innocently placed his hand on his chest. “Moi? Never.”
“Sherloque,” you warned.
The detective took a step back and the fog in your brain had been lifted. You could finally think clearly again, enough to see the two sharp fangs pointing out of Sherloque’s wide grin. Finally, you thought. Finally, something supernatural – and you figured it out without anyone else's help.
Sherloque leaned back against the window, folding his arms and softening his gaze. “You know,” he started, “I knew this was going to happen.”
You rolled your eyes. “No you didn’t.”
“I hoped this was going to happen. As I said, I've noticed your interest and it is… mutual.”
“Mutual? In what way?”
He shrugged. “You have a sharp eye for details, a master detective appreciates such a thing.”
“Uhuh, is that all?”
“Tu as un beau sourire que je ne peux pas quitter des yeux.”
“You know I don’t understand French.” You crossed your arms, hoping he wasn’t mumbling an insult.
Sherloque hesitated; a myriad of confessions lingered on the tip of his tongue. You were brave enough to confront him, but he wasn’t sure if he was brave enough to confront his own feelings, after all, he didn’t exactly have the best history with falling in love. Five Renee Adlers. All women who he once loved. All women who hated the shit out of him. He couldn’t stand the thought of you hating him like that.
A loud bang echoed down the corridor followed by heavy footsteps and shouting – one of the voices being recognisably Cisco. The footsteps soon stopped, but you both knew neither of you were safe standing in the middle of a big open area.
Your attention darted to the corridor, back to Sherloque, and then over his shoulder. The twinkling lights of the night skyline had diminished and the horizon was growing lighter and lighter by the second. He didn’t have to question you, the look on your face combined with the prickling feeling on the back of his neck told Sherloque everything he needed to know. You shifted your weight from one foot to the other.
“What do we do now?” you asked, watching the detective stiffen his back.
“What do you want to do?”
“For starters, I would like to leave this room alive.”
Sherloque scoffed. “Is that what you think of me? A murderer?”
“No! But–” you took a step forwards “–vampires need to drink blood right?”
“Oui, the longer you go without it the weaker you become, but a vampire can go many years without consuming blood before dying. And I can assure you, a well-experienced vampire can acquire more than enough blood without killing.”
Sherloque’s eyes were on yours, but you were positive that all his attention had moved to your neck. If he wanted to kill you he would have done it by now, but that didn’t mean you were completely safe. The others didn’t know about Sherloque’s secret for a reason, and now that you knew, you were a threat to that reason, and something had to be done about it.
The top of the sun began to peak over the horizon and Sherloque dropped the smug, in control act that he was playing. Quickly, he took your hand and took a step towards the door, hoping you would follow. You held his hand tightly and didn’t move an inch.
“Ma chérie, I cannot stay here,” he said desperately.
He could have yanked his hand away and left. He could have pulled you off your feet and dragged you out of the room if he really wanted to. But no. He wanted you to come with him, and he wanted you to come willingly.
“I will not harm you, I promise.”
There was no glimmer in his eyes. No tricks being played. You glanced at the sun rising and a part of you wondered if Sherloque would let the sun burn hum just so he could stay with you a little longer. Your stomach grew uneasy at the thought of watching that happen. Turning back to the detective, you nodded and let him lead you out of the room, away from the harsh rays of light spilling through the windows.
~
Trying to avoid running into the metahuman problem, you avoided loud noises coming from the lifts and found yourselves in one of STAR Lab’s many abandoned, windowless storage rooms. The lights had yet to be changed into LEDs like the rest of the building, but to your surprise they had no trouble turning on when you flicked the switch and filled the room with a gentle, orange glow. There wasn’t any furnishing, nowhere to sit down, nothing to hide behind. It was a long, empty, concrete box with Sherloque standing at one end, and you at the other.
“I know vampires are supposed to be pale,” you said, “but now that we’re in proper light, you look really pale.”
"Oui. It has been a few months since I last fed." You could feel his eyes on your neck again. "It has been taxing."
“Then why haven’t you found a uh– meal?”
“I may not be human, but I would like to consider myself not a monster.”
“You haven’t found anyone willing.” You bit your lip and averted your gaze. A terrible idea wormed its way into your head. A terrible, stupid idea. The kind that you would read about in your beloved vampire novels.
“Non, not on this earth.” Keeping his eyes on you, Sherloque made his way to the middle of the room. “Not yet, anyway.”
You took a small step towards him. “I suppose you’d be quicker at catching Cicada if you were at full strength, right?”
The detective smiled softly at you. He didn’t need any vampire powers to know what you were thinking. “Ma chérie, if I took enough blood to be at my full strength, you would be very ill for a long time.”
Feeling like a silly teen trying to charm your way into trouble, you took a few more steps closer, just out of arm's reach, and flicked your eyes back up at him. “Then I’ll be in need of someone to take care of me.”
Sherloque hummed as he considered your offering. Oh yes. He could definitely take good care of you. And it would certainly give him more time to think up a charming way of telling you how he truly felt about you.
“Very well, mon amour. I promise I shall take care of you, afterwards,” he said as his eyes darkened with hunger. “If you are sure?”
“I’m sure.”
It all happened so quickly. Before you knew it, Sherloque had closed the gap between the two of you, wrapping an arm around your waist and pulling you so close against his chest that you swore, even if he didn’t have enhanced senses, he could hear how fast your heart was beating. He cupped your cheek gently and tilted your head to the side, eyeing up your warm veins. Leaning in, his chilled lips pressed against your hot neck, sucking the spot he had decided on. He lingered, letting his teeth graze the tender bruise he made.
You shuddered feeling his hot breath, and for a split second, you felt those survival instincts of yours telling you to run. Momentarily, you closed your eyes and buried those feelings, trying to focus on Sherloque instead. His nose brushing against your skin. His arms squeezing around your side. His hand on your jaw with his thumb stroking your cheek. Knowing that there was no turning back now made your insides fizz with anxious excitement.
He pulled back just enough to look at you, as if to ask for your permission one last time. You could feel your heart thumping in your head, so loud that if you opened your mouth, you were sure it would be the only sound that would come out. Clenching your jaw to keep yourself composed, you gave Sherloque a reassuring smile. Yes. You have my permission. He smiled back and his eyes glimmered. Just like it happened in the lounge, a foggy haze blanketed your mind, making everything feel like a dream. You didn’t think getting your blood drunk would be painful enough to warrant hypnosis, but you weren’t going to complain about a little bit of supernatural painkiller.
Even under Sherloque’s spell, you could tell that something changed in his eyes. The soft, cold look was overcome with lust, and his lips spread open, revealing those two inhumanly sharp fangs of his. Once more, the vampire leaned into your neck.
You gasped as his teeth pierced your skin with a painless, but sharp pressure. Despite the hypnosis, there was still a small part of your brain that was alert and trying to send you signals that something dangerous was happening. No matter how much you tried, you couldn’t stop from instinctively flinching away, but Sherloque pulled you back, holding you so tightly that you could barely wiggle. Once you were secure in his grip, he continued.
The fangs pulled away, but the lips stayed put. Sherloque licked the blood from your neck, and as soon as it reached the back of his throat, the months of thirst he endured hit him all at once. Suddenly he couldn’t help himself. You were too good. The licking turned into desperate sucking which caused the two of you to stumble. With your back hitting the nearest wall, you let out a whimper and grabbed a fist full of Sherloque’s wavy hair to steady yourself. Usually, the detective was very particular about how his hair looked, but right now he was far too drunk on your blood to care.
You weren’t sure how long it had lasted, but finally, Sherloque pulled away. The moment his arms left you, your legs buckled. Your vision was unfocused and Sherloque was a blur, moving quickly to catch you and softly sit you on the floor. His arms felt much stronger than what you remembered. Kneeling in front of you, he pulled off his scarf and wrapped it around your neck, tying it just enough to stop the bleeding – he’d see to it medically when you were properly safe. Seeing your glazed eyes trying to focus on him, Sherloque cupped your face with both his hands and gently guided your attention towards him. You wanted to rub your eyes, but your arms felt impossibly heavy to lift, so you settled on blinking until your vision cleared up and you could actually look at the man in front of you. His pupils were dilated, his once-pale skin was flushed with lively colour, and his lips were wet and red, stained with blood that smeared down his chin.
“Hmm, you… You look…” you mumbling trailed off.
"Just relax chérie, you won't be able to function normally for a few weeks. Best not to force it."
A door a few corridors away slammed, followed by Cisco shouting. The noises echoed painfully in your ears as they grew closer to your hiding place.
“I can say for certain,” he stood up, whipped out a handkerchief to clean his face, and then straightened his clothes, “you’ve given me more than enough blood to deal with our intruder. Wait here. Once I return, I shall get you home and take care of you, just as I promised.”
You wanted to object to being left alone, but with a smile and a wink, Sherloque left the room, closing the door quietly behind him.
A few minutes passed and the sound of the intruder stopped. You waited for Sherloque to come waltzing back to you, but all you received was silence. A few more minutes passed, and you grew restless. It shouldn’t be taking so long. You made yourself wait a little longer, but the silence was torture. He really should be back by now. A few more minutes and… No. No more minutes. No more waiting. Sure, you were too weak to walk, but you weren’t a damsel in distress, you weren’t going to just sit still in an empty storage room all by yourself. Using the wall, you pushed yourself forwards onto your hands and knees and slowly shuffled towards the door. Your head spun as you moved, but you carried on, determined to find out what was going on.
Aside from Cisco, no one knew what the power the metahuman has, so for all you knew, Sherloque could be in danger. Or maybe Cisco was being overpowered and he was in danger. Or maybe everyone was in danger and you were their only hope of survival. Or maybe everything was perfectly fine and you were worrying about nothing. You really hoped the latter was true because you didn’t need a detective to deduce that you weren’t going to be much help in a fight right now.
You reached the door and strained to lift your arm. Curling your fingers around the door handle, you used your weight to gracelessly heave it open, narrowly avoiding the door swinging into your face. The corridor was dark and empty. No Cisco. No handsome detective. Struggling for breaths, you managed to lean yourself against the doorframe, thrilled at your small accomplishment. You let out a huff, eyes growing tired of staying open. Wherever your dashing vampire was, he better come back for you soon, and he better not be injured.
The hypnotising thing Sherloque did had started to wear off, making you hyper aware of your arms and knees aching, and your neck stinging like hell. Vampire romance novels never mentioned how much being bitten would feel like… well, like being bitten. Something told you that there was a lot about vampires that vampire romance novels don’t mention. For example, it really sucked to wait for what felt like a million stupid years for one of them to come back for you.
A loud look over here kind of cough snapped you out of your miserable thought spiral.
Your head shot up, the movement causing your stomach to swirl and turn, but you were too overwhelmed and excited to care. Finally! Sherloque walked over to you and crouched by your feet. He was a lot less easy to focus on now, but still just as nice to look at.
“Hello trouble. I found Cisco and we put the metahuman in the pipeline. He is dealing with the mess that was made, and I have come to finally take you home–” Sherloque looked at you, then at the open door, then back at you with an amused smile. “Je suis désolé. Was the wait too long for you to handle?”
You opened your mouth, but the back of your throat was too dry to make a quip. Oh. That’s right. The grand trials and tribulations of trying to speak. You swallowed and spoke with as much determination as you could muster.
“You,” you started, your voice hoarse and sore, “were gone–”
“Oui. But I returned, just as I promised.”
“Gone f-for hours!”
Sherloque knitted his eyebrows and frowned, looking down at his pocket watch. He turned it to face you.
“No. I was gone for approximately twelve minutes.”
Suddenly, the detective’s hands were all over you. Face. Shoulders. Neck. Sherloque wasn’t a doctor, but you sat as still as you could and let the man carry out his examination. He promised to take care of whatever state he had left you in, but a part of you was still hoping that your state would be more breakfast in bed and less hospital gown. You attempted to take a slow deep breath, trying to make yourself as calm as the face you were looking at seemed to be, but what you ended you with was shaky and abrupt.
Sherloque stopped and sweetly held you by the shoulders – you could feel the new warmth of his hands through your clothes.
“You’ll be just fine.” His voice was soft and soothing. “I’ll get you home, make you something to eat to get some strength back into you, maybe make some tea to help you sleep– Hey. Hello? Chérie, look at me.”
You didn’t even notice it at first, but everytime you closed your eyes, it was getting increasingly difficult to open them again. With all your aches and pains, you were beyond exhausted. It would be so easy to close your eyes and drift off–
“I need you to stay awake for me,” Sherloque spoke in a slightly raised tone to keep your attention on him. “You can sleep as soon as I get you in bed. But until then, I need you to keep your eyes open. Okay?”
You mumbled that you’d try your best, and then the next few moments were a complete blur.
~
Sherloque had gotten you home… somehow. The details didn’t bother you, you were just happy to finally be home. Sherloque didn’t spare any time to start living up to that promise he made. He attentively tended to your wound, helped you change into pyjamas, and ushered you to bed. It wasn’t until after you had devoured his homemade soup did you lie down to sleep.
You tossed. You turned. You were exhausted beyond all means, but no amount of closing your eyes and hiding under the covers was helping you to fall asleep. Tor-ture. Grumbling, you rubbed your eyes and sat up. It wasn’t that long ago that you were struggling to stay awake. Penance from the universe for finding pleasure in aiding a vampire perhaps? No. He may have been smug, but Sherloque was a good vampire – Your vampire.
“Everything alright?”
Speak of the devil. You looked up at the detective leaning against your doorway and pouted.
“Can’t sleep.”
“No?”
“I know it’s the middle of the day, but my room is more than dark enough with my curtains closed. It’s like I'm too tired to be tired,” You said. “How does that make sense?”
“I bit you. There must still be adrenaline in your body.” Sherloque strolled over to sit by the side of your bed. “Your brain is still in fight or flight mode, bien-aimée, you need to relax.”
“Bien-ahh, uh–”
“Bien-aimée.”
“Bien-aimée,” you slowly repeated . “That’s a new one. What does it mean?”
Beloved.
Sherloque turned his head to look out the window and hummed.
“Maybe I will teach you some French when you get better.” He quickly kicked off his shoes and turned back to you. “But for now, you need to relax and you need to sleep.”
The detective swiftly slid under the covers. You opened and closed your mouth, deciding not to protest, and instead shuffled to make enough room for Sherloque to sit comfortably next to you. For once, you were glad for your small double bed; the lack of space pulling the two of you together, making Sherloque putting his arm around you feel like a natural advancement – the kind you had been trying to hype yourself up to make ever since you got home.
Somehow, asking a vampire to bite you was less nerve wracking than trying to cuddle up and relax with one. At least when you were running around STAR Labs you had adrenaline and the imposing threat of being hunted by a metahuman to motivate you. Now that the waters had settled, there was nothing to mask the fact that you had just ran head first into some kind of relationship with a detective vampire from another earth who you were half assuming was going to kill you when he found out you were investigating him.
You leaned into Sherloques side, rested your head against his shoulder. Perhaps it was better not to think too hard about these things. It wasn’t exactly like you were looking to get married the next day, just some good company and some well needed sleep. Feeling Sherloque relax under you, you closed your eyes tight, focusing on his thumb softly rubbing against your arm. The tiredness was really catching up to you now. With the cool, calm darkness granted to you via your black out curtains, and the warm embrace of your duvet wrapped around you and Sherloque, falling asleep no longer felt impossible.
“Relax and sleep,” you mumbled, “I think I can do that.”
Sherloque rested his head on top of yours, listening to the slow rhythm of your breathing. Why on earth he decided to get in bed with you was beyond him. He was so desperate to change the subject that he didn’t give himself time to think about what he was doing. Idiot. Whatever happened to avoiding another Renee Adler situation? They had all moved on but the memories of them – or more so, the memories of the mistakes he made with them – stuck to him like chewing gum in hair.
With a deep sigh, Sherloque closed his eyes. You weren’t her. You weren’t any version of her. But that didn’t stop him from assuming he’d screw things up with you like he had done over and over again with Renee. There was a chance that she and him just weren’t meant to be, but there was another, greater chance that any relationship with Sherloque just wasn’t meant to be – the latter scared him more than direct sunlight ever could. He hoped to God that you were feeling relaxed because inside his head was far from it.
~
To save your sleep schedule from becoming vamperic, you had planned to sleep until the sun had risen again, but it was quarter to midnight when you woke up. You almost weren't sure that you had woken up as you had to pry your eyelids open from deep sleep only to be met with darkness. Sherloque was lying flat on his back and you were still by his side, head still on his shoulder, limbs half sprawled out over him. All your joints ached and the pressure in your head persisted – perhaps it was a good thing that you woke up in the dark because oversleeping left you just as groggy as you felt when you got home.
“Beloved.”
You flinched. It made sense that the vampire next to you was awake during the night, but he was so still and you were so sleepy from waking up that it never got close to crossing your mind. You angled your head to look up at the outline of Sherloques Jaw.
“Huh?”
“Bien-aimée,” Sherloque said gently, staring at the ceiling. “It means beloved.”
The words tingled as you repeated them in your head. Beloved. Beloved. Beloved.
“Sherloque,” you breathed, “have you been calling me pet names this whole time?”
“Perhaps.”
It didn’t take vampire night vision to see the guilty, smug smile on his face; you bit your lower lip to hide a similar, bashful smile from appearing on your own. Sure. He noticed you noticing him. He took a liking to you. He flirted, bit, and then slept beside you. But it never occurred to you that he had been pining for you far longer than you had been for him. Not trusting the dark to conceal your flustered expression, you turned and smushed your face into Sherloques chest.
“Bien-aimée,” he said gleefully, squeezing his arms around you, “my fondness for you is not new information.”
Despite the tiredness and Sherloques chest muffling your voice, your laugh was undeniably embarrassed. “This. Whole. Time. Sherloque. Why didn’t you say anything?”
The pressure of Sherloques arms slightly loosened, and you were once again thankful for the dark hiding both your face from him and his face from you. Whatever he was thinking of, it wasn’t good, that you were certain of.
Renee. He had to get over it. You weren’t another repeated, doomed relationship. You were new. You were brilliant. And right now you were his and he couldn’t give that up, not for people who lived on different earths and didn’t even understand him properly.
Your heart was beating fast, and Sherloque couldn’t stand feeling his silence weigh you down any longer.
“A relationship with a vampire isn’t an easy one,” he finally said.
“No relationship is.”
“But especially with me.”
Taking your time as to not worsen your headache, you propped yourself up on your elbows so Sherloque could see your face.
“I’m not one to back down from a challenge, whether it’s supernatural, investigative–” you looked at the uncertainty in Sherloque’s bright, blue eyes “–or emotional. I’m strong enough to work through anything, and I’m sure you are too.”
Your eyes had bags but they were full of so much more life than they were when he first brought you home. If he wanted you to carry on looking at him like that, he’d have to move on. He would move on.
“My dear, if you believe I am strong enough–” Sherloque smiled at you softly “–then I am strong enough.”
“Good.”
You smiled brightly and leaned forwards, capturing his soft, warm lips with a kiss.
Somebody like you – part II (Harry Wells x reader)
Summary: You left the day after Harry kissed you and now he believes he chased you away. But when you return, you don’t hesitate to explain yourself.
Note: part 1 / If you want to know when I post new stuff, follow @unreliablesnakefics.
Tumblr media
Harry kissed you one time out of instinct and you fled right away. He thought you liked it too, he thought you felt the same way, but apparently you didn’t. You returned to A.R.G.U.S. where you had worked between the black hole incident and the day the team called you back soon after he arrived, and conveniently went no contact with him due to security measures there.
And now there he was, anxious and worried to death because Zoom had his daughter, and also because you were out there, out of his sight, basically served on a silver plate for the evil speedster. If he knew about you, he could easily kill this version of you as well to torture him even more than he already was.
You never explicitly told him he was the reason why you left, but he could feel that it was all because of that stupid kiss. He didn’t believe the whole “they just called me back to help with something I used to work on” excuse you came up with. It was too big a coincidence to believe. It bothered him, he blamed himself for chasing you away, but there was nothing he could do about it now.
Even after they freed Jesse, after he had entirely new things to worry about, Harry often found himself thinking about you. If you were only there to support him, to be by his side and ease the pain he felt–but you weren’t. You were hiding somewhere far from him, and on worse days he wondered which member of this little team kept in touch with you to keep you updated about whether or not he was still here.
“Look who’s back!” Harry heard Cisco’s voice from the cortex one day.
He pushed himself away from the desk he was working at to see who it was, and when he saw you standing there, he almost lost his balance with the swivel chair. It was you. It was really you standing there with that big and happy smile on your face, hugging the team as a greeting.
“How are things at A.R.G.U.S.?” Barry asked you with a laugh once he let go.
Whatever you said in response, his brain didn’t register your words. He didn’t care–he couldn’t care–when every cell in his body was ready to move towards you. All he had to do was stand up and walk over to where you stood. It wasn’t hard. Yet he couldn’t get himself to move because his brain was telling him you would only push him away, and he didn’t want his daughter and the entire team to witness that.
Yes, his ego was in the way.
Harry knew he was staring at you, but despite this he wasn’t really paying attention to what you said or did, this is why he only realized you were on the move when you were standing right in front of him. He gulped as he stood up and watched you with a nervous smile.
“Welcome back. How long will you stay?” he asked you hoarsely.
“As long as I can,” came your answer. “I’m done with that project, I have no reason to be there anymore.”
The others were watching you, he could see that over your shoulder, but it didn’t matter now. Maybe it was time to let go of his fears, maybe it was time to start an honest conversation. “Why did you leave?” Your eyes narrowed in confusion. “I kissed you and the next day you announced you were leaving. Why did you leave?”
You suddenly started laughing, almost causing him to jump from surprise. “Harry, I didn’t leave because you kissed me. If I could, I would have called you, but the A.R.G.U.S. facility I was in has very strict rules,” you told him, slowly leaning closer. “To be honest, I thought about that kiss and you quite a lot.”
“Is that so?”
“I missed your grumpy attitude,” you whispered.
“I’m not grumpy,” he defended himself, but you only shook your head with a smile. “Yeah, maybe I am, but never with you.”
It was you who reached out to pull his head down and kiss him gently on the lips, drawing a series of whistles and claps from the team in the background. He couldn’t care less about the audience when he finally had you in his arms again. Safe and happy, just the way he wanted.
He pulled away for a second to take a better look at you, appreciating the view for the millionth time since you had met here the first time. You tilted your head to the side as you watched him, probably trying to figure out why he stopped, but he only smiled at you briefly before pulling you into a tight hug and rested his chin on top of your head.
Jesse was by now deep in a conversation with Caitlin, her eyes occasionally falling on him as they talked. He knew she was probably asking about you and he couldn’t blame her. She knew your doppelgänger, and knowing how smart his girl was, she probably had her suspicions already.
“They are staring, aren’t they?” you asked quietly.
“Of course they are,” came his response that lacked the usual hint of disapproval or sarcasm. He had grown to like these people, and while he wasn’t about to call them family, they were still more than simple friends. “Ready for the questions?”
You hummed in agreement as you let go of him, but you couldn’t even turn around before Jesse arrived. Harry was a little worried that she would disapprove of this thing you two had, but he was pleasantly surprised when her lips curled into a wide grin.
“Can I talk to you, Dad?”
And with this question the pleasant surprise turned into pure terror. You didn’t seem to notice and he was honestly grateful for that. You told them you would go over to the others, so he soon found himself feeling cornered by his own daughter.
“Please tell me this is not happening only because you lost our version of her,” Jesse began in a hushed voice. “I always knew you had feelings for her, I saw how badly her death hurt you, so don’t blame me for worrying about this version being nothing more than a cheap replacement.”
“Don’t call her that,” he warned her.
“I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant. I just want to make sure you really like her for who she is here, and not for what her doppelgänger was like.”
Harry drew in a deep breath as he thought about this. She was clever and she was right, and he had never had the time to truly get to know you. Sure, he paid attention to you even when you were avoiding him, so in a way he learned a lot about you, but he wasn’t sure if you saw past the little detail that he was your old crush’s Earth-2 counterpart.
Gulping loudly, Harry looked over at you and let out a groan. “I like her for who she is,” he said, and although he wanted to finish the sentence, he decided to fall silent instead.
And this silence was louder than he assumed it would be. “You’re not sure if she likes you for who you are,” Jesse pointed out, earning a nod from him. “I can ask her.”
“Or I can keep whatever this is going on and we’ll find out along the way,” he suggested with a smile.
“That might work too,” Jesse agreed with a shrug.
Somebody like you (Harry Wells x reader)
Summary: You had a crush on Earth-1’s Dr. Wells, while Harry was hopelessly in love with your Earth-2 counterpart. These feelings bring you a lot closer after an inevitable conversation.
Note: part 2
Tumblr media
“You’re alive,” the sentence left Harry’s mouth before he could stop himself.
This was a different Earth, he knew there was a chance you were alive here, but he wasn’t expecting you to show up in S.T.A.R. Labs as a member of this world’s Flash’s team. He watched as a confused look emerged on your face, filled with a hint of terror he attributed to your past experience with his evil doppelgänger.
He cleared his throat, trying to shake off the overwhelming feeling that had taken control of him, then raised his hands as he watched you. “Don’t worry, I’m a different Harrison Wells, not the one you knew,” he informed you, and he was sure his voice was way softer than it was when he talked to the others.
“Can someone explain to me what is going on here?” you asked the team, completely ignoring him.
It hurt him, yes, but he kept reminding himself that you weren’t her. You were a completely different version of your Earth-2 counterpart, just like he was a different version of the Harrison Wells of this world. Still, it was hard to accept this. It was hard not to think of his version of you.
Harry listened to Barry as he told you everything you missed while you had been away, his eyes fixed on you the whole time, analyzing every little movement of yours. Your body language was different, it simply missed that vibrant energy your Earth-2 version used to have even in the most stressful situations. He couldn’t help but wonder what else was different about you.
And sure he thought about your relationship with this Wells. Had he been your mentor too? Or was there something more intimate between you? He needed answers, he simply had to know what to expect. His betrayal hurt you as well, it was clear from the moment your eyes landed on him, but he didn’t know just how bad things were.
Once Barry finished the explanation, Harry drew in a deep breath and took a hesitant step closer to you. “I just want to stop Zoom with Barry’s help and save my daughter. That’s all,” he assured you.
You continued to ignore him completely which felt like a stab in the heart. Instead of talking to him, you turned to Caitlin and Cisco for help. They assured you that he was telling the truth, that he could be trusted, and only then did you truly look at him. You were still uncertain and he couldn’t blame you for it.
Before he could try to break the ice again, you finally spoke up, this time talking directly to him. “You’d better not betray us too,” you warned him.
“I would never betray you,” he noted quietly, keeping his voice so low everyone had trouble hearing him. “No need to worry about that,” he said with a forced smile, this time talking louder.
Days passed with you avoiding being alone with him. Every time you were left alone in a room with him, you immediately fled, leaving him behind without a second thought. He wanted to talk to you, he wanted to get to know you, hell, he wanted to be around you even if that time passed in complete silence.
It took him two weeks to finally get you to talk to him. You were ready to leave the lab he usually worked in once Cisco left, but he was quick to grab your wrist and pull you back. You yanked your hand away, looking slightly offended that he tried to stop you this way. Harry raised his hands and backed away to let you breathe.
“Let’s talk,” he suggested hesitantly, watching you carefully to see if you were willing to stay. When you took a deep breath and nodded, he let out a long sigh of relief. “Why are you avoiding me? What did I do to you? Or was it my doppelgänger that hurt you?”
You remained silent. It was killing him, the only noise that filled the room coming from the fan of the laptop he was working on, but despite this he didn’t feel like rushing you. After long seconds you finally gulped and folded your hands behind your back.
“You did nothing wrong,” you assured him with a small smile that he almost missed. “Dr. Wells… He betrayed us as you know. It just hit me harder than the others, I guess.”
“Why’s that?”
“I liked him. And when I say I liked him,” you began, falling silent in the end.
But even if you didn’t finish the sentence, Harry understood what you wanted to say, so he only nodded in response. He waited to see if there was anything else you wanted to add, but you were just staring at your shoes as if you were feeling guilty all of a sudden.
Something told him it was up to him to take the lead, to keep the conversation going, so he decided to dig deeper, hoping he could get some extra information out of you. “Did the others know?” he asked you.
You put a hand on the back of your neck and let out a nervous laugh. “That I had a stupid crush on our mentor? No.”
“Did Wells know?”
“I have no idea.”
“So let me guess,” he began slowly, carefully weighing every word as he tried to get some answers out of you. “You’re avoiding me because I remind you of him.”
Without much hesitation, you simply nodded. Harry wanted to tell you he wasn’t that man, he wasn’t about to betray you too, but his instincts told him this was the perfect time to practice staying silent. He wondered how long it would take you to accept him as part of this team. Catching Zoom wasn’t the problem of the next few days sadly, so he was surely here to stay for a while.
He couldn’t help but stare at you while he waited to say what was on your mind. Because he could see you were thinking about something, hesitating whether or not to say it. At one point he flashed a supportive smile at you to make you speak up, hoping you would finally trust him enough to say whatever you wanted in his presence.
And then it happened. “Can I ask you something too?” you asked quietly.
“Go ahead.”
“I’ve noticed that you’re hitting a much kinder tone every time you talk to me. Why?”
So you noticed. With a sigh, Harry folded his arm over his chest and considered how much to tell you. After you told him about your crush on your Wells, it would be only fair if he was honest as well. But how could he talk about that? How could he talk about her death without feeling like breaking down again?
“I knew your Earth-2 counterpart,” he began eventually, already bracing himself for the worst part. “She was working for me, with me, and we were trying to handle the metahuman crisis together after the explosion. Zoom wanted to hurt me so he killed her right in front of my eyes. It was my fault and I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to forgive myself for letting that happen.”
You nodded, though you didn’t seem convinced. “Is that all?”
“You’re smart,” Harry noted with a forced smile. “I asked her out but she rejected me. I kept telling myself that it was okay, that dating an employee would have only complicated things, but I was already too lost in my feelings for her. Losing her was… I don’t even know how I could describe how I felt.”
“I’m sorry for your loss,” you said softly as you walked over to him and pulled him into a hug.
Feeling you be this close to him rang the alarm in his brain, he didn’t even know what to do at first. Your Earth-2 version had hugged him a few times when he was upset, causing him to fall deeper in love with her, but you’ve been avoiding him all along, it was too big a change all of a sudden.
You probably noticed he was getting uncomfortable because you suddenly gulped and let go of him. “I’m sorry, I just… I don’t even know what I was thinking.”
“No, it’s okay. No need to apologize,” he assured you.
It was hard. Harry had assumed things would get a lot easier once he told you the truth, once the two of you sorted things out, but he was wrong. If anything, things only got more confusing. Did this mean you would loosen up around him? Did it mean he could finally talk to you the way he wanted without you running away?
You excused yourself suddenly and left the lab before he even registered what was happening. He felt like an idiot. Shaking his head, he rushed after you and was quick to turn you around and kiss you. You didn’t resist at all, and soon he felt you wrap your arms around his neck and press your body closer to his.
Maybe it was only the element of surprise that made you give in, maybe you were thinking about this Earth’s evil Wells when he kissed you, but he couldn’t care less about the reason. He had been thinking about kissing you or your other version on his Earth for so long that now he was on cloud nine and he didn’t want to come off this high.
Hi boo it’s been a while how are u? Since it’s the love month any Harry Head-canons we got? I can think of one Big Belly Burger is that man’s love language tell me not haha
Hi sweetie! Oh gosh, I haven’t really thought about, BUT I might have some. Well this ended up more as a ‘What Harry might do for Valentine’s Day Headcanon’… OOOPS! Note this is gender neutral.
Now, we all know that Harry isn’t the romantic type nor he knows how to express himself. That was made clear in season 4. His a technology buff. That’s how he wooed his first wife (I think 🤔). But he does have one thing in his pocket! AND IT’S NOT WHAT YOU ARE THINKING YOU LITTLE PERVS!!!! He knows you. He knows what you like. Even though he may not seem like he is paying attention to you, he is. At times he may creep in the shadows of the building watching your every move or he eavesdrops on conversations you were having with Cisco. Anything he learns about you, he store it in his mind palace.
For sure Cisco would have to remind Harry about Love day coming up. Maybe suggest some stuff to do. Harry mumble that he already had something planned. He doesn’t. He completely forgot having being too caught up with his work and losing track of the days. Like seriously, this man schedule went down the drain the moment he stopped being the CEO of Star Labs on his Earth i keep on forgetting that this sobbing wet feral cat of a man is mega rich
ANYWAY, Harry realizes that he has only a day to put something together. All the restaurants are booked, any romantic hot spots, BOOKED. But that’s fine, Harry has something else in mind; he thinks. He thought about grabbing dinner and having it in his lab, but he knew better than to do that because that’s what you two do every day anyway. He could decorate the Speed Lab like HR did for Friend’s day, but he thought that was tacky, and made him want to vomit. Something new came to him.
Rushing out of the building to gather some supplies for his plan. Now when it comes to wrapping the gift, Harry would either leave it in the crumbled up bag and toss it to you or he could take his time to perfectly wrap the present up with perfection. Since he wanted to make this night perfect for you, he took his time to wrap it.
He calls you down to the garden area of Star Labs I’m assuming they have one in the middle of the building so we are going to roll with that for this headcanon purpose and you walk out into the perfectly manicured garden. Various trees scattered throughout the place with bushes. Flower beds here and there with picnic tables, benches scattered about. The trees decorated with fairy lights with decorations all around. It was simple and beautiful. Music softly playing in the background as you walked along with stone path. You saw Harry standing in the middle of the garden next to the koi pond just roll with it people with a smile on his face as you walked up to him.
A large blanket was spread out next to it, candles lit with a small banquet of flowers in a crystal vase. Spread out was the meal for the night; Big Belly Burgers.
Harry holds out a hand towards you, to which you gladly accepts. He brings your hand up to his lips, kissing the top of your hand. He tells you how amazing you looked, even though you are in your work/workout/casual clothes. He guides you over to the picnic, helps you to seat down, and he sits across from you.
He hands you your favorite drink in the Big Belly cups. You both raise your plastic cups up, cheering and clicking your cups against each others. You both enjoy the meal, both of you feeding the other fries. You find an extra long fry. You try to get Harry to do the Lady and the Tramp spaghetti scene with the fry. Harry declined at first, but once he saw the look in your eyes, he joined you, ending with a kiss.
After you finished eating the meal and indulging in the dessert, you cuddle with Harry on the blanket, as you look to the night sky. The lights around you were dimly light, allowing you a better chance of viewing the sky. Harry would ramble on about various facts about space, or about the multiverse.
He hands you over a perfectly wrapped gift. It was pretty looking that you didn’t want to destroy it, but you ripped into it. In your hands was the rare book (or whatever small thing that you wanted 😉). Your jaw dropped when you saw it. You looked up to Harry asking how did he know you wanted it. He shrugged his shoulder saying he over heard you talking to Cisco about it, and not being able to find one. So, he called Jesse asking her to send a copy over. You hugged the man tightly, thanking him over and over. You kiss his cheek when you pulled away. Harry had a big smile on his face; he love seeing you happy.
You spent the rest of the night with Harry at your place.
