I finished Solitaire this morning and I love this ending: All I know is that I’m here. And I’m alive. And I’m not alone.”

I’m thankful that Alice Oseman didn’t make Michael Holden a savior, but a realistic romantic interest who is there to SEE Tori the way she truly is. He wasn’t there to add problems to her life, he was there for the sweet nothings. He saw the real her and liked her. It was refreshing. I need writers to take notes.
Solitaire is a book that I will definitely reread countlessly. It is about finding meaning in life beyond normalities, because Tori is one of a kind like that.
Hi everyone. I had this argument with a cousin & a friend because they said ‘it’s too much and it’s unrealistic.’ This is my take on that:
Heartstopper is a work of fiction btw, nothing suggests otherwise. I believe the TV show was made extremely ideal because it asks the question of “what if things were this way?”
And there are a lot of times where you’d think it’s too much, but I think that’s what’s charming about it. Everything is colorful and sweet because it’s intentionally aiming at that… to give people hope that there is an alternative version of reality where everything isn’t so bad. This is how life is supposed to be. Everyone who worked on Heartstopper said that it celebrates queer joy and life overall. Most of the matters were handled delicately, even when situations get dark and serious.
Yes, Tori sipping loudly while her drink is full was a mistake that made it to the screen. Imogen wearing a beret in Paris is the most Imogen thing to do. I’m sure we all know someone who’s that extra. I think she slayed that.
I am not saying that anyone is wrong, it’s just a different angle to consider.
“We have nothing but our freedom. We have nothing to give you but your own freedom. We have no law but the single principle of mutual aid between individuals. We have no government but the single principle of free association. We have no states, no nations, no presidents, no premiers, no chiefs, no generals, no bosses, no bankers, no landlords, no wages, no charity, no police, no soldiers, no wars. Nor do we have much else. We are sharers, not owners. We are not prosperous. None of us is rich. None of us is powerful. If it is Anarres you want, if it is the future you seek, then I tell you that you must come to it with empty hands. You must come to it alone, and naked, as the child comes into the world, into his future, without any past, without any property, wholly dependent on other people for his life. You cannot take what you have not given, and you must give yourself. You cannot buy the Revolution. You cannot make the Revolution. You can only be the Revolution. It is in your spirit, or it is nowhere.”
