no offence but the reason tumblr is “dying” is, well, yes, of course the cursed like/reblog ratio and the change in user behaviour (because of people being used to how instagram and tiktok work) BUT also the lack of weekly shows. i say it with my whole chest, they don't produce captivating and engaging stupid weekly tv shows anymore because streaming killed that so you have spikes of activity here when Something happens in general fandom or up to three days after a new season of whatever drops and then it's a wasteland. this is obviously an old woman yelling at a cloud missing supernatural and the vampire diaries and pretty little liars and all these other shows type of post but honestly give me back weekly tv shows where i have something to watch for 40 minutes almost every day of the week after work so then i can read and reblog it on tumblr give it back for the sake of my sanity

#THIS RIGHT HERE #all the shows lately that have been doing super well #like house of the dragon and hazbin hotel #didnt release all at once #the rampant consumption of popular media lately has made it really really hard to be immersed in anything anymore #theres no theories no time to question or wonder #people ask why shows used to be more popular and its because people actually had the time to care about them #percy jackson tv show did wonders #911 is a ridiculously popular show because its still releasing on tv not just dropped season by season on a streaming service #the last of us BROKE RECCORDS #shows like got and the walking dead wouldnt uave NEARLY as good as they did if theyd had a season-by-season format #instead the weekly episodes allowed people to really care to form ideas and make watch parties with their friends #they could REFLECT instead of immediately diving right into the next episode #and that lack of patience is EXTREMELY obvious in this generation of media consumers #I also firmly believe that the downfall in reading comprehension is due mostly to people not having any time to COMPREHEND #yeah its nice to get shows all at once and binge watch #but really think about it: how much of the show do you actually remember when you do that?? #sure you recall the big moments #but the nuance? the individual moments? nothing #people who say a show isn't engaging or lacks depth talk that way about shows that they watched in one or two sittings over the corse of #like a week #OF COURSE the show lacks depth!!! yiu dont remember half of it!!! people be like 'i dont even know *insert characters* name!' NO DUH #it was mentioned in the first two episodes and you! don't! remember them!!! #our brains need time to process what we're seeing! if we overwhelm it we forget a lot of important details! #and if we forget enough what makes us ever think about the show again?? #yeah it sucks to wait #but it's worth it when you fall madly in love with a show because you were allowed time to do so #shows that just appear don't do good because theyre watched once and then completely forgotten about #shows that drop week to week are discussed and theorized about leading to more popularity and a lasting cultural impact #asks
