Hey!

So we have a lot of wonderful voice actors who are doing a great job, and yet we still need more. As of right now, we have 18 roles that appear in multiple episodes that are still uncast, with about 2 or 3 auditioning VAs who haven't been cast yet. While some of these are more background characters, they all still need voice actors.

The #1 character we need a VA for is Echo, our main character. One of the big reasons they haven't been cast yet is that since Echo's Indigenous, we are looking for an Indigenous voice actor for them. They are a 14 year old Samish kid who goes on a magical adventure with their best friend and makes some new friends along the way (and some old ones...) If you're interested please dm me, because we really need an Echo. If you're Indigenous but don't want as big of a role, we also have some roles open for Echo's family.

Dm me if you'd like to audition for Echo or any other character, and I'll send you the link to a discord server where either I or another crew member will give you all the information you need for how to audition. You will most likely get the part you want unless someone else also wants it, in which case the crew and I will decide together who we think is the best fit for the role.

This is a very low-pressure environment; we're all mostly just here to have fun and make a show we all like. We're also all kids, so we all have full schedules, so don't sweat if you aren't available 24/7. You also don't need any fancy recording equipment, (although we're certainly not complaining if you have any,) your phone or laptop microphone should be fine. No experience is required, although it definitely doesn't hurt.

If this is your first time seeing one of our posts, we're Century Park, an indie cartoon currently in production. We do most of our work over discord. You can scroll through our blog for some more info and the animator application.

The story follows two best friends, Echo and Molly, after they accidentally get sent to another world through an abandoned amusement park in the woods. There they meet Axel, the child of the former owners of the park whose been 10 for the last fifteen years; Felix, a powerful and friendly mage with a mysterious past, and many more.

You may have seen our post with a casting call for Echo. Unfortunately, as I realized very late, you need to be 16 to have a Backstage account. And this role is open to anyone over 13! (Discord's age limit.)

So here's a Google Form to apply and some audition sides! Happy auditioning!

To audition you must be at least 13 and you have to be Indigenous to the US or Canada. We're using the honor system because we can't really ask for an ID or something, since we don't require any personal info to be in the cast or crew.

Some background on Echo:

They're a teenager who's a part of the Samish tribe of Washington State. They're 14, use they/them pronouns, and are bisexual. They're energetic and affectionate, and always try to see the best in people. They don't always think before they act.

IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) is going on strike on Monday. IATSE represents a ton of crew members who work on shows and movies, including animation workers*. They're striking for safe working conditions, livable wages, streaming inequalities, and more.

*Animation workers are represented by the Animation Guild, Local 839 of IATSE. Some of the studios whose employees they represent are Disney TVA, Walt Disney Animation, Dreamworks Animation, Marvel Animation, Nickelodeon Animation, and more.

What would crossing the picket line be considered with this strike? I'm seeing people say support them, but does that mean I stop watching streaming services for the entirety of the strike? Or would it be something different?

As far as I know, no one is currently calling for a boycott. A boycott probably wouldn’t be too effective anyway cause no new content would be coming out if the strike lasts more than a month. Crossing the picket line would be accepting work in formerly union positions (aka scabbing). Right now the best way to show support is just to be loud on social media that you will stand behind IATSE in whatever they ask. I’m sure IATSE will have more information that I guess I can share here once the strike vote is held.

Hey, I would do this in the discord but I'm too much of a coward so I'm doing it anonymously here, but this is my love letter to the century Park crew. You guys are all so so amazing, you're practically family to me, and I'm so so glad I get to create this with you. I actually feel like you guys genuinely care for me, and that's such an incredible feeling. I cannot describe the amount of love I feel for you all. We have started the creation of something that lives absolutely rent free in my brain, and it makes me so so happy that my family are practically begging me to stop ranting about it. Every character we make holds a little piece of our souls. I see all of you in every character (except Q. Fuck Q. And actually all of the antagonists) but I see all of your good qualities shining through the characters and the writing and the art. You've made me feel so welcome, so appreciated, you make me feel like the things I've made actually mean something, and I cannot thank you enough for that. We have an updated character design for Echo!

The design/artstyle was changed a bit to make it easier to animate them. We're still working on nailing down a style for the show that's relatively easy to animate and also nice too look at that also allows us to animate magic and stuff with minimal blood, sweat, and tears.

I love the way they look! Credit to the very talented @marcyshairclip, one of our art supervisors, character designers, and storyboarders.
