{I don’t remember if I’ve actually stated this on the blog yet so I’m stating it now: any pronouns are fine for this Duusu! The official ones on the wiki are he/him, likely because Duusu is obviously based off of a male peacock, but the voice varies drastically between languages and many fans are used to she/her from the initial assumption of kwamis matching the gender of their chosen. Additionally, kwami don’t seem to reproduce or have need for biological sexes, so I HC that their pronouns pretty much just come from whatever humans use for them!}

“I don’t got a - any crackers or nothin’ like y’all like t’ chat about, but I do got this doughnut! S’just a plain ol’ vanilla one… but I - I, uh, I always reckoned bein’ simple is special! Huhuh!

The “talky-bird” stares with wide eyes, sparkly tears seeming to stop dead in their tracks.

“You... you mean you have a gift— for ME?!?”

She’s either taking the change of topic as a “yes” to her earlier question, or she’s forgotten about it entirely in the presence of food.

“Ohhhhh, WOW!!! THANK YOU!! YIPPEEEEEE!!! I HAVEN’T EATEN IN AGES!!”

In less than the blink of an eye, she suddenly snatches up the donut, a blue blur as she takes enormous bites easily the size of her own body. It only takes a few of them to finish off the treat, at which point she wipes off her mouth and giggles before grinning at the sheriff.

“Wow, you’re the BEST! Oh— uh, besides my Mayura, of course!!”

At first, the creatures just stares.

Then it promptly bursts into tears. Giant, sparkly, glittering tears.

“w-WAHHHHAHAHAHHHH... YOU’RE TOO NIIIIIIICE TO MEEEEE...”

The basket, by the way, is WELL larger than Duusu itself. At most, the peacock is maybe the length of two of the golden-baked bread rolls.

May I.... have one bread, please? ;u; -slides you a single coin- (CMM-Duusu)

The Gram.meowster pauses, ear twitching as she looks both the zenny and its owner over. It’s a momentary judgement, though. She smiles as she plucks the coin from the table. 

“Of course, child,” she says as she stows it away in a pocket, “Just a moment.”

Up the stairs she goes, calling various orders out across the kitchen. Her fe.lynes scurry to their stations on a moment’s notice, purr-fessionals at following her whim. They’re all fantastic cooks in their own right, she’d boast herself, but still, she makes sure to be with them all the while. She tastes, she critiques, and uses her ladle as necessary. The canteen already smelt delicious, but as the oven fire roars, the scent of rustic comfort grows only stronger.

A sweet steam clouds the dining table as she finally returns to it, now carrying a giant covered wood dish in paw. With the gentleness of a grandmother, she sets it down in front of her custo-mew. 

“Here you are.”

She lifts the lid. 

A basket of fresh rolls, piled high enough to risk spilling over, greets them. 

So too do the creamy cheese wedges and perfectly char-grilled sausages, plated around a large bowl of roasted nuts. That’s not to mention the fruit turnovers tucked by the bread, their crusts glistening with sugar and honey. And, of course, it’s all topped off with a tankard of warm milk. 

“One bread platter,” she nods, “eat up now!”
