Alan Alda directed “Dear Mildred.” He told Richard Lee Sung, who played Cho Man Chin, to forget using an Asian accent, to simply be a well-educated businessman lost in the war. It was the first time that Sung had been directed to not use such an accent and it made an enormous impression on him on how caring Alda was.
So this post has been making the rounds in multiple MASH forums & groups and I being one who loathes made up bullshit, I decided to start posting the REAL images (and yes, we all know who is alive and who have sadly passed away so I am not even pointing out that fault).

“Chief Surgeon Who?” marks the first appearance of Klinger. It was intended to be his only appearance. However, he was such a hit that he became a recurring character and, ultimately, a main cast member. Jamie Farr joked that he was brought in for one day’s work and stayed for 11 years.
In addition to several references to Trapper John in “The Joker is Wild,” another throwback touch in this late-in-the-series episode is the use of the Asian version of “Happy Days Are Here Again” at the very beginning of the show.
