Sol can be very dramatic.
"He breaks my heart a lot but I also have to laugh at him a little" is a character type I really enjoy.

I did get a little bit of writing done today. I'm on page 34 now. I've never been on page 34 of anything (other than my MA thesis). The scene isn't quite over but I got to the interesting part of it, though that's turning out to be very difficult to write, as well.

Things the Ash and Sol relationship isn't:
a Beauty and the Beast situation
an enemies to lovers situation
a redemption narrative

Contrary to what this looks like, this is not a Beauty and the Beast situation.

There's still not a lot, though.

Oh. Actually it's as easy as adding a space and "comic" to the title of the comic. Who knew.

The thing about Die is, I wouldn't even know how to find the hypothetical fandom here on tumblr, because none of the associated titles or names are searchable in any reasonable way. Like, the most unusual names in this comic are "Ash" and "Sol", and while those are not as common as, I dunno, "John" or whatever, they're far from unique, and of course the word "Die" is entirely useless as a search term to begin with.

Had to reblog this because somehow this perfectly describes my experience with HS fic.
When you're unsuccessfully looking for something and start gradually increasing your It Could Be There range. Like yeah sure maybe the rice cooker pot is in the freezer, idk

(The idea here is to write the Die thing *as quickly as I can* and then get back to the Laundry and yes, also Splinter, because every time I reread any of my WiPs there it's like a kick in the head with how much fucking potential I still see there. Unfortunately *as quickly as I can* still isn't very quick, even though this thing has been growing more quickly than anything else I've ever written.)

I could talk about this guy for hours and at some point I probably will. But I think I'll go and stare at my marriage crisis scene for a bit now, and leave you in peace.

Also, undead people. Always gotta have undead people in my media, now.

My actual new thing of course is "people who are as close as brothers/siblings killing each other but still loving each other unconditionally", and yep, that's in here, too.

Rather hilariously (after a year and a half of HS/rng obsession), my new fandom, acquired in spring 2023, features a bunch of people who got stuck in a cosmic game for several years when they were teenagers. Feel familiar? Is this my new thing, should I check out Jumanji next, lol?
This is the midlife crisis version of Homestuck, though. They all return to the game when they're in their forties.
My fic is about the aftermath. (No doppelgangers or clones or anything, though.)
