nice Tuesday

It was and still a nice Tuesday here in Concord California. Being half Filipino, one place I like to hang out at is the Seafood mall. There you can buy Filipino goods and eat Filipino food.

One restaurant I like to frequent at the Seafood City mall is an restaurant known by all Filipinos is jolibee. I like to order Filipino Spaghetti with 2 chicken dippers or their chicken sandwich. I also like to get their buko pandan slushy. They have a bunch of other good food to try so don’t be afraid and dig in.

lazy Monday

Hi all, 

Sorry for not posting the past few days. I have been really busy. It It is a nice day in Concord California. About 80 degrees outside. One place to check out that’s near Concord is Oakland Chinatown. Now I understand that Oakland has a bad reputation for being a not safe place but Chinatown is one of the safest places there is in Oakland. If you are an Asian like me or love Asian food. There are a lot of good Chinese restaurants and dim sum places in Chinatown. There are also a lot of supermarkets with a lot fo fresh ingredients to cook delicious Asian dishes with. 

One place I want to give a shout out to is Isla which is a really good Filipino restaurant. Isla has 2 locations. One is located in downtown San Bruno California and the other is Newark California. If you go there with a big group, make sure that you take a look at their Sulit deals. The Sulit deals are served on a very huge native plater with unlimited rice. Sulit deals may include Crispy Pata, Jeprox, Longanisa, and other Filipino goodies all served together.

Tuesday

It is another nice not to hot hot day here in Concord California. A city that is right next door to Concord that you might want to check out is Walnut Creek. I recommend checking out the downtown of Walnut Creek. There are a lot of nice stores and great restaurants.

Another great food place to check out is Union City more specifically the Chinese area of Union City by the mall of Marina supermarket. This mall has a lot of good restaurants to try. One of my favorite restaurants is in the corner of the mall. It is called HKTop. They have dim sum all day and other good dishes.

Monday

Hey there all,

RQA here and it’s is a nice and sunny day here in the city of Concord California.

A nice place to check out here in Concord is the downtown. The downtown has  a lot of really good restaurants. My favorite is Naan and curry. There is always a big crowd there. Another place I like to check out for those of us who still like to read books is the Half priced book store. If it is your first time to check out the downtown, plan to visit on a Thursday afternoon because that is when there is a farmers market in the middle of downtown. 

A reastarunt I have always loved located in Fremont California is called New Yong Kang. It may appear like a hole in the wall Chinese restaurant but those kind of places have the best food. The deal at New Yong Kang is they have 3 dishes for about $24. It used to be $21. The cost of living has really gone up in the Bay Area. They of course have other dishes but I strongly suggest that you stick to the 3 for $24 deal. My favorite dishes are salt and pepper rock cod filet, eggplant in garlic sauce, and steamed shrimp. Their servings are very generous there at New Yong Kang. My family and I always end up bringing home the leftovers. It is also a great place to bring big groups to.

sleepy day

It is another sleepy quiet Saturday morning here in Concord California. Don’t have much planned for today. It is currently sunny and warm here in Concord.

Another nice place to check out near Concord is the Sunvalley mall. It has a lot of nice stores and a Round1 arcade for kids to play in. Shops include UIN QLU, H&M, Forever 21, and much much more. Be sure to check out both floors!

The next restaurant area I want to bring up is in Milpitas CA. Check out the McCarthy Ranch area. More specifically the mall of 99 ranch. There are A LOT of good Asian restaurants in that Mall. The small mall that is located two lots next to it is also a good place to check out too. My favorite place to go in the mall is called 85 degrees bakery. It is a chain that started in Taiwan. They have a lot of good pastrys and drink. Don’t be afraid to come out your comfort zone and try everything. In the words of andrew zimmern “ If it looks good, eat it!”

Concord  California

Hey, RQA here,

Concord, for those who don’t know about it, is a pretty nice place. Life here is of a slower lifestyle. Much slower than when I was living in San Jose. Concord is close to Walnut Creek and just a bart ride away from San Francisco. There is also a new mall here in Concord called ““the Veranda”. Concord is also diverse,. It has a 99 ranch, a Seafood City, and other ethnic supermarkets and restaurants. 

Being from the South Bay, a great place to find really good Asian restaurants is in the downtown of Mountain View. One of my favorite restaurants to eat is is called Kirin. This place is a Chinese restaurant. They have a deal that starts at 9:00pm where some of their dishes cost less than their price at other times.

Hey, I’m RQA,

To get things started I use to live in San Jose California. To be more precise, in west San Jose very near Cupertino CA. I just moved to Concord with my family about a year ago. I am Asian and proud of it.
